If I could give no stars I would. Worst customer service ever. Got repairs done from an accident and they were horrible. I understand it was not progressives fought on repairs but the fact that they left tires with holes in them from the accident on the vehicle is crazy to me. I've called and called about everything wrong with the car (bumper gaps and check engine light on that was not there before and exhaust problem) I just keep gettin sent to voicemail with no call back. We got rear ended at approx 50 mph at a dead stop Dec 2018. I went into the hospital for 4 days with a TBI (brain injury ). I was forced to retire from a 6 figure job. The insured driver had state min. $ 75,000. - in which Progressive quickly assumed liability. They settled with me for the policy limits of $ 75,00 but refuse to go the $ 25,000 liability for my wife who was also injured requiring numerous doctor visits as well as physical therapy. She to incurred an injury and required over 100 hours of PT and maybe 30 hours to and from doctors. She realized my condition/daily problems were becoming more of a concern and decided to retire early as well Dec 2020 in order to take care of me in my troubled recovery. Again a very high paying 5 figure job. PROGRESSIVE continues at almost 36 months to offer a unacceptable settlement offers even to the $ 20,000 range. Its a cat/mouse game of who will cave first and save someone money. Bottom line is PROGRESSIVE is the largest advertiser for insurance in the nation. How about to the tune of over $ 2,000,000,000.00 Far more than any other insurer in the industry- more than Geico and Liberty Mutual which we all see in our sleep. You can enjoy maybe their competitive rates but beware- have a claim and you will feel the sweeze of a company who attempts to break you into much lower settlements even when they the accept full responsibilty. Just more money for the advertising budget. Ask any auto body repair shop if they agree Progressive attempts to lower hourly body shop rates. We know of a handful who say- you have PROGRESSIVE- no thanks- we are not interested in your repair. Do some investigation- we have experienced the low offer bulling first hand. An insurance commission complaint is our next option. We have started a cancellation effort for holder policies and intend to do so until we no longer breath. Forget this company! I had a not at fault accident 2 years ago. They raised my premium by $140 a month! For an accident I did not commit. I was at a complete stop when hit. Did not matter to them. They say you are more likely to be in an accident with a not at fault accident on your record. Sorry, I have been driving for 15 years, and have never been in an actual accident. I went with Geico. My daughter has this insurance, after having it for sometime she hit a pothole driving on the city streets so she had to use it. Her car was tolled to a shop after about a month of back and forth with the shop they had the car tolled to another shop which took about another few week. Rental car they did pay for some but before she got her car back she had to take the rental back and was without a car. Shold be zero stars. One of their customers hit our new car. No one hurt. $1800.00 damage. Written up as the other persons fault. State Farm said to call Progressive to file a claim. They called us back. Ask 4 time on recording if anyone was hurt. They said they would call back. They did and said they are denying the claim. We talked to several insurance agents and they all said that is what Progressive does. If you want your car fixed say you are hurt then I am sure they will just try to pay to get your car fixed. I've been with Progressive for years. I went out and bought a brand new car, got in an accident the same day that I had bought the car and upgraded my policy. Less than 24 hours after leaving the lot and barely buying the car, I was rear ended on the freeway. Clearly I am not at fault, but progressive won't cover any of my damages or rental, even though that's literally what I pay for now on 2 cars. Their representatives will lie and say they're calling you back, avoid your calls, and ignore you - then send you a letter in the mail saying they're trying to reach you, and will cancel your policy if you don't answer. Seriously, do yourself a service and stay away from progressive. I paid my insurance on july 17 2021 the person that i spoke with told me that my insurance was $ 329. But i paid $340.. I was told that my next payment was going to be $345. Ok no problem. Consumers are there on both sides of liability insurance. It is possible to switch insurance companies. If the insurance company is reluctant to pay out rightful claims at the cost of consumers then you know the insurance company has its own interest at heart and not the basic purpose of protecting consumers. My recent experience with Progressive has been absolutely negative and I will not consider or recommend this company to anyone. The only available evidence in my case is the Police Accident Report issued by the Suffolk County Police Department and it supports my position. The adjuster assigned to my case is absolutely ignorant of how courts make a decision based on available evidence and not on what's not available but the adjuster wishes was there. A statement by their insured is nothing but an afterthought and weighs no more than my contrary statement. But the adjuster, in order to enforce a personal whim has rejected my claim after offering 60/40% and then improving it to 70/30% in my favor as I asked for a better deal. Not only that, they have possession of my car for the last four weeks and have moved my car farther away from the place of incident. I have been renting cars since then. The fact being , somebody rams into a car moving straight by making a left into them, then they take away your car and force them into renting cars and then despite the support of Police Accident report deny the claim as it might prevent the insurance company from fattening on the premiums. My recommendation is to run such fattening companies out of business by not insuring with them. read more

They gave me a decent 6 month rate for my Prius. They sent a SNAPSHOT device to plug in the car. It measures when you accelerate hard and break hard. To indicate poor driving and is a basis for raising rates. The SNAPSHOT is RIGGED to report False positives. You hear it beeping back at you when you accelerate slowly and break gently. A good example is stopping within 2 feet behind a Stop sign. You pull forward the 2 feet and it beeps that you are doing hard breaking! I am also a Systems Analyst and an Expert Witness. I changed my payment method to a different card, 7 days before the payment was due and they still took money out of the wrong account, and would not refund me the money. And that was only 20 days after my last payment, so they took the money out of the wrong account AND took it a week early, and would STILL not give me a refund. The only way I could even get a PORTION of my money back was to cancel my policy, which they seemed more than happy to cancel and did not seem to want or appreciate my business at all. There really isn't much to like about them. They are probably one of the slowest insurance companies when it comes to helping you with any accident. They also are one of the only companies to send an appraiser once you pick a shop, just to make the customer wait longer and have to pay more out-of-pocket for a rental car. Total fiasco. been ripping me off for over a year. when i called to add full coverage to a new vehicle i just purchased, when i called back ti confirm i was told i had other than collision on both vehicles. so i basically was covered if a deer ran into my parked car or for hail. then they quoted me 2.5 times higher than my first call to a competitor. both times i called to add a vehicle, i was on hold for 1.5 to 3 minutes. i said cancel my policy to the automated response and i have been on hold now for 24 minutes and counting. what a nightmare. they also changed my password or login so i cannot access my account now because i was just going to cancel on line. i am going to report them to the BBB if they don't pick up the phone soon how aggravating. never again negative 3 stars read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. I have been a Progressive customer since 2010 and the last 3 years I couldn't be more disgusted with their business practices. Every 6 months I get a notice of our automated policy renewal. Our auto insurance has gone up $225 a month in the last 1.5 years. When I call to ask why they are increasing it even when it's escalated to management they have no valid explanation (there have been no tickets, no accidents, no moves to an unsafe area etc). They finally after making several generic statements in response to my questions about their companies lack of transparency and questionable business practices always give me this final answer. "The cost of doing business in your area has increased so we increased your rate." Right...so I guess I'm paying a luxury car payment dollar amount each month to make sure their Flo commercials keep running and she can keep getting facelifts to appear in their mediocre marketing campaigns. I'll be finding a new insurance company before our renewal goes through next month-I'd literally rather pay MORE money then be their customer any longer. read more

Decided to go with Progressive insurance when my son purchased a new car. Big mistake... After telling them that we didn't want his siblings added to the policy, they did it anyway, raising the premium by hundreds of dollars. After calling them, they had me upload documents and information in an attempt to reverse the charges, but they never even looked at the information until I contacted them 10 days later. In the end, they would not remove this unneeded coverage and provided no option other than to pay them another $500 to continue the existing policy. Finally, the policy was canceled by Progressive after only 3 months (when we had paid for 6 months) and they claimed we owe them hundreds more. I have been insured by Progressive for 5 years. Although we have had no accidents, the cost of our insurance had jumped significantly in the past several years. We finally asked our agent to shop our insurance and we received multiple offers for insurance that was much less than our current insurance. Strangely, Progressive also offered us a quote dropping the cost of our insurance by $100/mo. I was surprised, but decided to to with the new Progressive quote. I thought everything was good until I began to get phone calls from Progressive asking me to call their Underwriting team. I just got off the phone and learned that Progressive will not cover us because we insure our daughter's car and she does not live with us (same town, different address).
