Coked geriatrics singing the classics in a dark place with cheap drinks from people you'd lock your doors if you passed on the street, great place. Lost a star for the oysters, holy hell they need to fix their fridge or get a better vendor cause those probably came from a mini van that drove from the coast over 2 days and never replaced the ice in their Coleman cooler they came in and expect to get the norovirus at best and some vibriosis at worst. 4/5 highly recommend read more

I looked forward to trying SuBourbon. It is in a convenient location for me, and it has plenty of parking. The reviews were pretty good overall. I walked up to the entrance on a Saturday afternoon. There was a small sign on the door: "SMOKING ALLOWED." Uh oh. I wanted a drink. I did not want to reek of cigarette smoke. I went in anyway. I'm not going to say, "The stench of cigarette smoke hung in the air," because it didn't. The smell was a bit subdued, but it was there. I evaluated, "Do I want a drink badly enough to reek until I shower and have everything I am wearing dry cleaned and laundered?" Not a chance. I did a quick 180 degree turn and got out of there. I read later that smoking is only allowed in a certain area in SuBourbon. That may be true, but if it is, the smell has permeated the rest of the building. I was disappoined. SuBourbon did look well-appointed on the inside. If you are a smoker or if you don't mind smelling like cigarette smoke, it may be perfect for you. If you don't want to reek, you may want to find another place. read more

I just recently started coming here, because of recommendations from friends. This is a NOLA styled bar that serves Louisiana Gold Band, gulf coast oysters, and shrimp. They also serve pizza for those that aren't fans of seafood. For those looking for free snacks, they offer all you can eat dry roasted peanuts. If none of those seem good to you, they are located in downtown Kennesaw, a few minutes walk from everything starting at burgers to Italian to Mexican to upscale dining. As far as drinks, they have a full bar. Wells and wines start at $5. They have an extensive bourbon selection, which you can taste for $3, and order "flight style" from 1-8 servings. Beer fan? They have you covered, offering 20 bottled beers and 6 drafts, both local craft and commercial domestic. Like cocktails? Reasonably priced and full sized standard cocktails and killer White Russians. The wine selection is a little small, but far better than other bars in the area and not really their theme, anyway. They have a regular tour of blues and rock bands as well as house music and a jukebox. They also stay open until 3:00AM, being one of the few bars in the area that stays open late. Wondering if you'll fit in? The age ranges from 21 to about 45. Lots of college students and conveniently located near KSU. Lots of hot women. When I came in this time on a Thursday, the hot single women outnumbered the men, but the last few times it was about even and mostly couples. They have a relaxed, casual dress code. Like sports? They have multiple flat TVs and projection screens tuned to multiple games, which you can request to have changed within reason. Hate smokers? The bar is smoke free. Like to smoke? They have an enclosed patio area with a pool table, water pong, etc that is ventilated, has Windows, and exhaust vents to pull the smoke away. read more

Don't go! Stay away! They discriminated against me and my friends who are all black. While we were sitting on the outside portion just me and one of my friends, the waiter said her manager told her to hold our debit card at register so we don't run off on the bill. ( this was after we ordered and she took the order and came back) it wouldn't have been a problem if it was standard procedure but it wasn't. Secondly, when the shifts switched and more friends joined, the manager told the new waiter to recheck our ID's. She gave us only the hardest time and now we know it was because of the color of our skin. We have not been back and are making sure none of our friends and loved ones go back. On several occasions I've seen him groping patrons and workers and even making out with a few girls on top of him taking shots and being drunk on 2 separate occasions. Great waitstaff and bar, though it feels a bit like the movie Barfly. Nice enough for drinking/chatting with sloppy mid day boozers , but you might not be looking for that vibe in an oyster joint. I know I'm not. I simply didn't get a good vibe on the quality of food preparation -- namely someone serving me raw oysters. And I have frequented plenty of gulf coast oyster dives -- having lived there for years. As for oysters bars, I want to see a packed lunch crowd with fast shuckers reaming through dozens of fresh oysters. For the above reasons I ordered the cooked oysters -- which the bartender promptly "microwaved" for me -- if that doesn't bother you, go for it:) A small menu can work just fine, but the pizza OR oyster choice is just weird. The cheese on my oysters was pizza cheese...lol. On the plus side: Prices are more than fair, good drafts as well. One guy said to me while leaving - "seriously -- don't eat here." Well I survived (so far) --so they deserve the 3 stars:). But I most likely won't be back. read more

The shrimp is good and DJ Paul is amazing. This bar is so small I get claustrophobic just sitting there. Certain nights breed a pretty rough crowd. Last time I was here everyone was on the dance floor having a great time when a guy got hit and was unconscious on the ground, eyes rolling in the back of his head, pretty scary... when the security staff picked him up and took him outside instead of calling the ambulance. I have been coming to this bar for 4 years now and in the past 8 months the food quality is alarmingly poor. there has been 3 occasions when I was served rotten fruit with my drinks. This last visit there, I was given a crusty old lime with my $8 shot of Patron. Another time I feel very ill when the oranges in my drink were slimy. I was drinking Patron and the stupid bartenders give me this crusty lime that looked like it had been grounded in the ground. I hold it up and say what are you serving me look at this crap she takes it from me and gives me a slice the size of 1/2 a lime. I couldn't even suck on the juice because it was so thick. The lack of concern or pride is defiantly not present with the employees here. I seriously doubt they have been trained at all! I'm surprised they are able to serve food at all. I also ate from their new menu, I had the lobster mac and cheese. I became extremely nauseated about a 1/2 hour to 1 an hour after I ate. I was puking in the bathroom. It ruined my night. This place needs to be closed down, health department called until they are properly trained on how to store and handle food. The bartenders need training on how to keep a clean bar. No one takes pride in working at this place. VERY DIRTY!! I wouldn't even give them a 1/2 star. Me and my 12 people group will go to other bars where our favorite band is playing. Went to this bar to see a friends band play. It is a nice little bar with great ambiance. We met up with some friends and ordered some drinks. I had a draft and my spouse had a wine. The reason for the 3 stars is that after ordering a couple of rounds the wine amount became less and less. The last wine, as I was thinking my wife must be thirsty, consisted mainly of ice with just enough wine to make her tongue wet. They got a new bartender. I have no idea why they did this, since the other bartender was excellent. The blonde bartender is giving out her numbers to married men. My buddy got one from her, and he wasn't even asking for it. He's happily married with two kids. She's turning the bar that was once great into something like everything else in the town. This is my experience in a nutshell: man falls off ladder, bartender is googling how to make drink, the frozen drinks are nothing but ice (didn't even finish mine), beers are too over priced, if you order oysters be prepared to wait, they have a old man doing it at the rate of shucking 5 min per oyster. Looked up the restaurant because it had oysters and love oysters. Went in and all the tables were pushed together, they said because it didn't get busy until later, we arrived at about 9:00.???!! We sat in the smoking area and they had a pool table but we couldn't play pool because the area was too tiny. We ordered a BLT sandwich and smothered cooked oysters. When the food came out my friend got the hot sauce that was on the bar and started to pour some and it was disgusting, it looked like it was corroded with mold. I took one bite out of my BLT, sent it back.!!!? The bacon looked and tasted old and the bread was not toasted as said . My friend ate a oyster and told bartender it tasted funny, no worries said the staff, so my friend ate a couple more, I smelled of them and told her to not eat any more. She didn't. A manager came out and still charged us for the awful smelly oysters , but he said he would give us a drink. Anyway ,we left. Last night I was looking for a casual bar in Kennesaw to meet up with an old friend from out of town for a couple of beers and to catch up. Because he was driving in I thought it would be good to go to a place where he could stay and have dinner if wanted to. Based on the reviews in Yelp I selected SuBourbon Bar & Social Club. Boy, was I disappointed. Based on the reviews (the latest was done in early 2016 so I should have taken the hint) I was expecting a casual Bourbon Bar that would have good oysters and shrimp. Since we are in oyster season I thought they would be a safe bet. Poor choice...We ordered some broiled oysters to chat over and what we got were very, small very overcooked and if it were not for the cheese wouldn't be worth a bite. Note to owner, if you are going to broil or barbecue an oyster you have to start with one that is a reasonable size then you can't hit it with much heat or it will shrivel up until it looks like something your Kid fished out of his nose! You can serve the little ones raw on the half shell. As for drinks, I expected that at a Bourbon Bar I could get a decent Martini. Since I haven't had a Martini for quite some time that's what I ordered. The first thing I noticed about the drink is that it came in a plastic glass! For heaven's sake, if you are going to serve a Martini, please serve it in a glass! Secondly, it should not be watered down...I ordered a second and asked the waitress to tell the bartender to make it with more gin. You know the saying "fool me twice...shame on me"! This place has a lot of potential. One negative For me was that for a bourbon bar they really don't have many bourbons and the bar tenders didn't really know very much about them. I think the draw of a specialty bar is that you can potentially try and learn new things. I want to ask which bourbon is aged longest or which has smoke and have the bartender recommend some, theirs couldn't. Not impressed at all. The hubby and I tried this place for the first time tonight. Waitress took my husbands order than turned around and walked away ignoring me. Oysters came out and were ok. Beer came out warm. My husband approached the waitress asking if she put the order in for two Philly cheese steaks assuming the best intentions that she didn't intentionally ignore me. Yep you guessed only one order put in. Than I watched a guy come from outside with a to go food box in a bag and hand to the manager at the bar. He takes that same container walks to the kitchen and proceeds to take food from the box. I'm observing this from the door that is not closed all the way. Than we are served the food. This a really cool place with a seaside/New Orleans feel. They have great live music 6 nights a week. On Tuesdays a band called The Royal Family plays songs from the sixties and seventies, but not the same old worn out stuff you usually hear. They are VERY good. Then they let other musicians play too. Lot's of fun and they will try to play just about anything. The oysters and shrimp are Killer! great beer and I'm not a Bourbon drinker, but all of my friends say they have good bourbon. GREAT place to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night! There is always incredible live music including Hurricane Wilson, Barry Richmon, Colin Alvarez band, and a lot of others. You get to relax in a fun and easy going atmosphere and rock along to great musicians! I would be here every weekend if I could manage it, lol! read more
