Excellent dining and drinking spot, right in the heart of St. Augustine - check this place out if you're there for a visit! This is right in the middle of the busiest spot in town, so expect it to be crowded, but we only waited a few minutes and managed to grab some spots at the bar. You can tell it's in a historic building, with very cool, elaborate decor. The food and drinks we tried were really good, and a highlight for me was building my own old fashioned with various options to choose from for whiskey/bourbon, syrup, and bitters. Service was fast and friendly and I would definitely pay this place another visit on a future trip out to St. Augustine. read more

We went there in November and it was super busy! We had to wait a while to get a table but you can wait at the bar, which is a good size. We were seated upstairs and our server checked on us frequently, even with a busy night. We ordered the deviled eggs, county line boiled peanuts, pan-seared salmon and the braised shortrib. Was recently here this past weekend and I must say our waitress Oli or Olive ( I am sorry if I've botched your name in advance) was so amazing, so welcoming, so attentive. She made sure to make suggestions which of course we went with. We had the grilled Crispy Brussel sprouts, the fried chicken sandwich, and the bootlegger burger which were all amazing. We had an hour and a half wait but it was worth it. Our server was Taylor and he was so good. Very attentive and helpful. Music was playing and if there was anything bad to say it may be just that it was so loud. But we really enjoyed the music. We got the Short Rib Grilled Cheese and The signature PK burger. Over the years visiting St. Augustine, Prohibition Kitchen has always been a go to spot for food or drinks. We split chicken wings and fries, which was more than enough for 2 people. The wings were crispy and hot, just how I like them! During our first visit of the weekend, we were too full to try one of their milkshakes, and came back the next day for just the milkshake. Got the cookies and cream milkshake with alcohol in it. Presentation was beautiful and it tasted just as good. The first sip you could definitely taste the alcohol, but after a couple it just tasted like a milkshake. read more

I stopped here this evening for dinner and had a great experience. I had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated, but they have a buzzer/pager waiting system, so I was able to pass time by popping into some gift shops on St. George Street while I waited. There was also some live music going on, though they were wrapping up by the time I was seated. My server, Olivia, was very attentive and very friendly. I ordered the whiskey barbecue burger and it was great. I asked for the burger to be medium and it was cooked perfectly. This was a really fun spot with great food and service. Oh my god! This is the second time I have had this burger and the poutine fries! It is totally the best, and I am already craving it again. It is made to perfection, and the onion Jam is to die for on. I don't know what they put on those fries, but I could eat them for a year straight and never get sick of them! I had done some research, and her they had the best expresso martini and hands down...... I agree. 3 in! Seriously, I could not stop! Lots of good reviews and my husband wanted a burger so we gave it a try. Server, Brady, was very nice and helpful. I had the black and blue salad and my husband had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. 3 stars because I asked for medium cooking on my skirt steak and it was quite rubbery. My husband ordered his burger medium well being told that there would be very little pink - there was much pink! Definitely not a medium well cook. Prohibition Kitchen is a really cool restaurant in the heart of historic St. Augustine. I love the speak easy vibes; it feels like you're stepping into a different time period. The menu even looks like an old timey newspaper. We ordered the mushroom Swiss burger with the sirloin patty upgrade ($2) and their short rib grilled cheese. The burger patty had delicious flavor and was cooked to perfection. There wasn't a strong mushroom or Swiss cheese flavor, but it was a solid "regular" burger. I loved the short rib grilled cheese which was absolutely packed with meat. I really enjoyed adding their hot sauce for extra flavor. Came here for my friends birthday. I had never been but it was one of his favorites it was very cool. The inside was larger than i anticipated and two stories tall. The food was excellent and the staff was very nice and quick. I got the signature burger because it had something called dragon cheese on it which sounded cool. On another note, he also forgot the shots we ordered, and when asked nicely came back with an attitude...... mind you they were on our tab. We came during the crazy holiday time. We knew there would be a wait. We arrived around 1pm and were told the waitlist was closed although the restaurant was half empty. We managed to get a standing spot at the bar and enjoyed our time for about 2 hours. The selection of spirits and beer is incredible. We all ordered a classic old fashioned to start. The bar was pumpin and our cocktails came out in a timely manner and were perfectly balanced. Our next round were some of the specialty cocktails and these did not disappoint. Highly recommend the herd it through the grapevine which was the perfect holiday bourbon cocktail and the foam alone was easy drinking and festive as well. We were hungry and needed a nibble. We ordered fries. To our surprise there was a variety of fry options but we went with the classic which were PERFECT and came out super fast. Highly recommend for a shareable bite. On our way out we were able to put our name down and were told an hour. We made it to our next destination down the road and instantly got the text that our table was ready so we quickly jet back. For this one, it was smoked salmon with bread crumbles and pickled onion which was different but in a good way. All the flavors balanced well. The Brussel sprouts were just okay, I wish they were crispy. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with fries which was just okay. However, the true star of the show was my husband's lobster roll! My family and I had dinner here and everything we ate was delicioussss! Our server was so patient with us because we had sooo many questions about the menu so shoutout to her. The inside is also just a really cool vibe and decorated so nicely. For appetizers we got the German pretzel, fried pickles, bbq wings, and poutine. The pretzel is AMAZING especially with the beer cheese - I ended up dipping my fries in the leftover cheese because of how good it was. I think the only complaint my dad has was that the poutine could've used more cheese curds, but everything else was perfecttt. Be prepared for a wait! Initially they said about 30 mins just to get a buzzer but luckily someone left as I was still standing there and I got one. The bartenders are great and you can have really good drinks and even eat at the bar if you choose to. We waited on our table at the bar and the waitress was very nice. The $4 up charge for sweet potato tots is so not worth a dime. They were inedible, but our server didn't ask how ANYTHING was so there wasn't any opportunity to change, send back etc. My fries were piping hot and tasted good for about five minutes until they cooled. After that, they were very mealy...you know how those taste. So very disappointed after hearing good things about this place. We won't be back here. Plenty of other places to eat in SA. Restaurants are crying the blues about costs, but don't seem to care much about quality any longer. The decor of the restaurant was really cool and the band playing was fun! The space to wait for a table was very limited so you could not stand and listen to the band while waiting for a table. When we checked in the wait was 90 minutes and it did take about 90 minutes but there were a lot of open tables. With a very busy time of the year I feel like they should have been able to seat all the tables. With portion sizes we often order an appetizer and an entree, however they charged a $5 share fee so we eliminated the appetizer and ordered a $4 cup of chili. They would have made more money if they did not have a plate share fee. I ordered the fish and chips. The portion was large and we could not finish it. The flavor of the food was somewhat bland. I added some salt and pepper to the fries and slaw, which I rarely do. The house made tartar sauce was on point and added the flavor the fish needed. The cup of chili was very tasty, but was literally a cup, maybe even less. When you enter the place the bad smell is super strong, the host didn't acknowledge us, grab the menu and sat us down without saying even Hi, waiting in the server was eternal.
