A friend of mine picked this place for a Sunday brunch catch up meal. I knew nothing about it before going and my friend only knew they had a gluten-free menu for her and a good beer list for me. :) Making a reservation was simple via phone. Dodge was our server and he was pretty wonderful from start to finish. My friend had questions about the gluten-free and regular menu, and although the answers he gave us ended up correct, he took the extra few minutes to make sure he was right and save any allergy issue from happening. Related to the beer, he answered my questions and when a keg tapped out, let me taste the replacement beer before committing. The food was great - I had the French toast, my friend had an omelet and we shared the pastrami wings (yep, i wrote that right and you should try them too). For dessert I had the apple pie egg roll, which was wonderful. Overall, we spent 3 hours for brunch to catch up, and Dodge and his coworkers made us feel taken care of and in no way rushed...the food, the service, and the beer list were great. read more

Five of us went to celebrate a birthday and it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was clean and very nicely decorated. Prohibition River is my go to spot in Nyack! Terrific lunch and brunch menus and great drinks. My favorite item on the menu has to be the Prohibition Burger which features an explosion of flavor with braised short rib, balsamic onion jam and molten beer cheese. So, so, so good. For brunch you can't go wrong with the french toast or short rib hash. Also a terrific staff, the last time we were here (and a little tipsy) we requested a "cinnamon-apple-y" shot from the bartender who instead of scoffing at our tipsy request delivered with a concoction of his own creation, it was delicious! Decent food, excellent beer list. We tried the fried green tomato blt, good but lacking mayo or aioli. Bacon meatballs, good concept, bad texture. What makes this place a three star instead of two: buffalo blue cauliflower! Dare I say, nearly as delicious as the chicken wings the cauliflower tried to impersonate. The cauliflower is lightly floured and deep fried, then tossed in a perfect buffalo sauce. Topped off with blue cheese crumbles, it is the reason I will be back to prohibition river to see if there is anything else on the menu to give this place another star. read more

Came here with a bunch of my friends for my birthday. We were seated upstairs. We ordered the pastrami wings, bacon meatballs and buffalo cauliflower. All the apps were very tasty. The standout was the cauliflower bites. They had a nice kick to them. The wings could have used more pastrami spice. For my main course I had the cheesesteak. It was very good. The meat was tender and roasted peppers and onions added a nice flavor to it. My only issue was that our waiter was not attentive enough to our party of 7. read more

First time here, made a reservation since it was a Saturday night. The host commented on how lucky my friend and I were to get a booth on a Saturday night as he sat us. Service was quick initially. We ordered some wine and entrees, which were decent, although nothing to rave about. I had a cheesteak and my friend had the grilled cheese shooters, which were apparently very good. Our waiter rarely checked on us. We had to get his attention to order more drinks and request water which was never brought to us. Overall, the ambiance was nice, except for a few people at the bar who thought they were in a sports bar and were regularly screaming at the tv. This is a great brunch spot in Nyack but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We went in with a large group for brunch but were the only ones in the restaurant. I had to snap my fingers twice to get the waiters attention because we were being ignored. One of my friends never got her water and getting refills for water and coffee were like pulling teeth. Grabbed an early dinner with the family. Great vibe walking in the door, decor was very nice with exposed brick and ceilings. Service was great with drinks coming right away. Great selection of craft beers and cocktails. Not a very big menu selection but enough variety. They do not have a kids menu, Not Good, but made kid portion meals. I had the Prohibition Burger which was amazing, however a little on the small side. And my wife had the fish which was cooked well and was great as well. This place is awesome. South Rockland needed a cool gastro pub restaurant. Staff is very nice and very professional, has a high end classy feel to the experience. Bacon meatballs and pastrami wings were delicious. Cool spin on pastrami seasoning. The manager mentioned that the proprietors came from Baileys in Blauvelt. This place is amazing!!! My husband and I got married in August and had our reception here. The food, the service was perfect! The upstairs of this place has amazing wood work and love the wood tables. we had about 50 people and everyone was very comfortable. This is our favorite place in Nyack for food and drinks! Really sold place. We went to the Nyack street fair, and walked in with three kids. They greeted us immediately, seated us promptly, and the bus person gave me a run down on the draft beers, which was a pleasant bit. The waitstaff were great with our kids, and service was efficient and pleasant. The brunch menu caught our eye, and was reasonably priced at 14 per person. Once we went inside though, we decided on the lunch and dinner instead. My wife had the cauliflower dinner - who knew you could have a cauliflower steak - and was very pleasantly surprised by how well seasoned and flavorful it was. The short rib quesadillas were bland, but the ingredients were quality, just add a bit more seasoning please! I had the prohibition burger, which was topped with short rib and caramelized onion. I enjoyed the quality of the beef, but it could've used a bit more seasoning as well. The overall flavor was excellent. Had mac and cheese for the baby. It was...mac and cheese. Nothing special, but definitely not the pre-packaged stuff. Mixed drinks were great - I had a perfectly spicy bloody mary made exactly the way I asked. Sangria was potent and very good. Great selection of beers as well. Kids had grilled cheeses, which were served on nice thick bread. Definitely worth a stop. Quality food and good service at a fair price. Good meal with my dad last week. Cute area. We sat in the front and the doors/windows were open to the street making for a nice atmosphere. Place was not busy at all mid week. Really varied menu. Service was very slow. ordered a drink and it was just sitting at the service station for more than 15 minutes till it arrived to my table. Placed an order of there bacon meatballs and with my burger for an entree that I was splitting with my girlfriend and that never came, it was cleared that I ordered the meatballs. Food took about 45 minutes to come out. VERY small menu. finally told a hostess that it never came and just to cancel it, no apologies from the waitress nor the manager. We ordered bacon meatballs ( 3 tiny to an order) as an app. The scallop polenta special( the scallops were small and overdone, too much polenta)The braised short ribs over garlic mash were too salty.
