Strawberry cream and banana cream matcha
    Rachel K.

I would give this a 6/10. On a positive note, the ambiance is super nice, they have cool decorations, places to sit with friends, and the vibe is great overall. The matchas were honestly not the best. I got the banana cream matcha which is just a normal matcha with banana cream and toffee bits? The banana cream is good but when mixed in, you can barely taste the banana. I wish they had a banana syrup to complement it because it was pretty lacking in banana flavor. The matcha itself was also not the best, I've definitely had better. It was also not very sweet, at least not sweet enough for me. Toffee bits didn't add much since they just sunk to the bottom. As a banana matcha lover, this was definitely lacking for me, especially for $7.5. My friend's strawberry matcha was similar, had a bit more strawberry flavor but I've had WAY better strawberry matchas before. I also tried the matcha blondie pastry which was nothing special. Overall, a nice place to hang out and grab matcha but the drinks aren't the best imo

I go to Project Matcha all the time, I'm obsessed with their drinks. I'm not sure how I've never left a review for them before. They're always busy, and typically have a line out the door, but they work through the line relatively quickly, so I never feel like I'm waiting a super long time.

This place is so cute, perfect for catching up with a friend or two. I wouldn't recommend taking a big group. There are tables inside and outside which is nice. The line was a decent length, but they moved quickly. I got the raspberry matcha and the raspberry was delicious. I am excited to go back and try the strawberry. The matcha was good but not the best I've had. I'd still go back here!

Project Matcha is good, but I don't think I would wait in line for 45 min again. Portland is in her matcha craze, and Project Matcha is the popular girl in high school. With the recent opening of their second location, there is a Project Matcha no matter what side of the river you're on. Although this does not negate the lines! Despite being insanely busy, all the employees were extremely friendly and answered questions without annoyance. I got the ube latte with a shot of matcha and it was good! The ube was not too sweet and paired well with the matcha, which was strong and unsweetened. Prices are steep imo, but that is not surprising (in this economy?!). There are other matcha places I like better in Portland, but I was glad to have tried them! I would come back though, just not on a weekend.

Pretty good matcha in a solid spot, very convenient around many restaurants and shops. Not many comparisons for us in Portland, but we do have favorites in Seattle. Perfect for before or after a meal (or even just for a walk). We tried to stop by before lunch reservations and the line was insane, so we came back after eating and it cooled down. Milk substitutions are priced in, which is always nice for matcha. Line moves pretty smoothly. Some seating available, but taking drinks out to the street for a nice walk is fun too. Banana Cream Matcha - not our favorite banana matcha, but it's pretty good. Banana flavor was present yet not overwhelming of the matcha. Banana tends to be pretty strong so the ratio here is amazing. Matcha quality is high, whisked well and very smooth. Grassy undertones mixed with sweet banana make this a solid first impression. Double Matcha - for the matcha fanatics, this combines a matcha latte with a matcha cream top and both are delicious. The cream top is smooth, a bit thick, and extremely flavorful. Concentrated matcha in the small layer resting on top help wake the taste buds. Visiting project matcha for a double matcha just makes sense.

Came on a Saturday afternoon with my friend and gf. Got lucky and beat the line but it did get crowded after. Workers were super nice and whisking as fast as they could. Matcha wasn't strong enough for my matcha expert friend but I got the banana cream matcha and really liked it! There's some seating inside.

    Einspanner matcha

I had the matcha einspanner with oat milk and it was quite nice. The cream on top gave it a nice texture. I only wish I would have requested some cinnamon powder on top. My daughter had the raspberry vanilla matcha latte with oat milk and she said she like have preferred it a bit more sweet. The line was fairly long when we entered on a midday Tuesday but they got through it pretty quickly.

I was visiting my best friend in town, and she took me here because she knows how much I love matcha. Spoiler alert: I went here twice within the same weekend because that's how much I loved it. There was a very long line when we got there, but I felt like the line doesn't move too slowly. There's not a ton of seating here, so it's more of a grab-and-go kind of place. My best friend and I ended up getting multiple drinks and these were our favorites: -project matcha latte strawberry matcha latte -coconut matcha cloud They were all SO delicious. I ended up getting the coconut matcha cloud twice because the combination was so delicious and refreshing. The matcha quality here is really good. I wished I was visiting longer so that I could've tried more of their drinks! I highly recommend this place. The vibes were fantastic and staff were very friendly too.

We got the raspberry, coconut cloud, and the project matcha latte. We were all blown away. Definitely one of the best matchas we've had in a while. We want to try a new matcha everyday but only downside for us is they open so late:( staff were kind and helpful and we're definitely going to have to try all the other drinks.

Pros: Great service. Drinks were good and decently priced. Neat and clean dining area. Portion size was average for price. Cons: N/A

Project Matcha is a modern matcha shop in a cool space with a unique selection of drinks. To get here, street parking will be your best bet. Inside, they have a bright and nicely decorated interior with about 6-7 tables for seating. For their menu, they have different coffee, matcha, specialty, and signature drinks to choose from. Wifey and I opted to get the Banana Cream Hojicha and the Strawberry Shortcake Matcha. Both drinks were solid and all of the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Went on a weekend afternoon and waited about 25 minutes in line. Not really worth the wait imo. I got strawberry matcha with oat milk plus an extra matcha shot and my fiancé got a matcha espresso. The strawberry matcha was not bad but it only had enough matcha with the extra shot. So without the extra shot it wouldn't have been strong enough. The matcha espresso was pretty disappointing, would not recommend. Not a fan of the coffee they used :(

Matcha tastes good. Einspanner is my go-to order, they make it pop having it topped with sea salt -- really good. No provided parking, only street which you will have to pay for.

And, most of the team are incredible sommeliers with a few currently training to become master somms! What a resource for us! David and Marissa are very welcoming. From the moment we stepped into the space on Tuesday to participate in the blind tastings, they consistently taught us new information and led us perfectly through the journey of identifying wines. I also really enjoyed their energies, and Marissa matched our sass and zest for life very well. C&U normally have flights available at all hours when open, but, Tuesdays are special. Blind tastings are only hosted then, so, make your way down to learn something and to taste new wine. You can select either one red flight, one white flight, or both for a total of six wines to taste. We decided to do the six wines, so one red and one white blind flight. There are extensive resources to help you with this experience, and I would highly recommend water and snacks to balance the palette. Seating is not abundant, so, I would recommend arriving early if you want to guarantee a spot. I hope that they offer outdoor seating come summer. My only critique of this place would be that their hours could be longer or pushed to open later for more time in evenings for guests. 7pm closures are tough for most of us professionals. C&U also offers special events and courses to expand your experience. I will definitely be coming on Friday this week for the special German wine release that David told me about. Thank you, I cannot wait to come here often.

Perfect wine shop!…read more Service - The service is extraordinary. The knowledge of the staff, which are trained somms, is unmatched at any shop we've been to. It is obvious that the people who work here have passion in spades for wine and sharing it with people. For anyone who is new to discovering wines of the world this makes your journey so much more fun. We've never gotten a bad recommendation from the staff because they listen to what you like and then push you a little outside your norm, if willing, to really expand your experience. Price - The prices are fair, this isn't Costco wine so don't expect $12 bottles to reign supreme but they are usually within a buck or two of other local wine shops with larger footprints. With that said though, there is a wide range of prices that should help any budget find quality wine. Atmosphere - The atmosphere is great. They keep it cool to protect the wines and it is reminiscent of walking into a very fancy wine cellar. They are large enough to not feel cramped but small enough to keep that intimate feel. Quality wine glasses and seating areas make it very pleasant to stay for a bit and enjoy the experience. Selection - Selection is wonderful, they don't have as many bottles as a Total Wine or the like, but everything in the shop is thoughtfully curated. I don't think I would hesitate to grab any bottle as it would be a good example of the wine in that region. They have wines from around the world, so it is like taking a trip around the globe where you can stop anywhere you like. Experience - The overall experience at Cru and Domaine is special, from the warm welcome of familiar faces to just sitting and popping open a bottle (no corkage fee for wine purchased in the shop) and enjoying it while chatting with the staff and hearing all about what makes that wine so excellent. They also have a nice selection of Coravin Pours (wines they tap using a Coravin System to keep them perfectly fresh). Some of these pours are pricey wines you can try by the ounce because you may not want to spring for the whole bottle. Summary/ TLDR - There is no single reason that keeps us going back time and again, it's all the reasons, and all the reasons added up make this a PDX gem and a special place to enjoy wine with friends.
