What's better.... Beers, delicious burgers, and outdoor seating. Dog and kid friendly. Staff very friendly. This is our go to place to pick up our at home beer. Favorite staple in multiple village. Fun yet chill vibes inside and outside.

Great place to pick up any kind of beer you like as well as a solid sandwich or burger. I had the reuben and enjoyed every bite. If they had a fryer and made french fries i would have scored John's a 4 star. Will have lunch here again.

Burgers are bomb! I love that the cheese is crispy. They sell all kinds of varieties of beer. I wish they also served fries but I didn't really miss them. They offer chips too. Would return!

    Rueben was delish!

John's Marketplace may have been the best beer store I have ever seen. My wife and I were in Portland, and they took us to the Mecca of malt and hops. There was every beer you could think of in these expansive coolers. They even had a kiddie cocktail for my wife (Even though it is really a Shirley Temple) We ordered a draft from the extensive tap handles and my sister and I split a Rueben and the cold pastrami sandwich. Both were excellent and the bread on the cold sandwich was a perfect pairing, with the whole grains and everything. My brother-in-law is vegetarian and got a grilled cheese sandwich, with local cheese and he really liked it. We also got about 10 beers to bring home and sample for the evening. The service was great and food came out pretty happy and all the guests seemed happy with their beverages and food.

This is one of my favorite local spots to grab a Smash burger and a brew. Not to fret if you can't dine there though, they also take to-go orders over the phone. The food and service is no nonsense and straight to the point. Inside you'll find people who are excited to help you with selecting from what might be the widest selection of beer and wines in the multnomah village area. Seating at the bar, at tables inside, or outside on their "deck". This spot is a happening place to grab lunch or to meet up with friends. The pastrami sandwiches are pretty fantastic too. There is a parking lot right next to the building and you can even order kegs here! We're fortunate to have such a place in town!

Well...we finally made it. Originally we were going to meet friends at 5. And it was a BEAUTIFUL sunny spring day. But then we rescheduled for 7...and I miscalculated the COLD lol. I DO so wish they'd have patio heating at the seated area outside. It would have been great. If you're looking for Beer or Cider, you CANNOT beat the selection or prices. I asked for Wayfinder Jaws of Damnation and BOOM yes we have it!! Of course we have it. Awesome. Sauce. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. The food options weren't that great. While lots of people list the food carts ACROSS the street as options, they weren't open and we just hung out and drank. If the weather wasn't so cold it would have been so much better. AND if we ate. But it was great and I can't wait to be back when it's a bit warmer.

What a brilliant concept! My husband had been raving about this place for months and when I finally came here, I can see why. Thousands of varieties of beer - I mean this is the most beer I have ever seen at once. The only Con I could see was that it takes a good amount of time to pick one if you are not specifically looking for something. One of my favorites from Russian river is also stocked here , which is great since I no longer have to wait to go to Cali to drink one. We also got two smash burgers to go with our drinks, and boy were they good ! I would have personally liked some fries to go with it but alas that was not an option. The burgers were top notch though. There is a lot of open space inside as well as a patio outdoor and we took advantage of the winter sun and sat outside.

    Chris L.

Hard to beat a tasty, $9 smash burger. But when you add in a delicious pint of beer on tap, it's possible! Staff were super friendly. Spacious seating inside and out. Even my 8 year old, who contends he doesn't like burgers, loved the smash burger. And the selection of bottled beer from around the world is excellent too. Will definitely be back.

If you're into great drinks, awesome burgers, laid-back vibes, and a staff that actually knows their stuff, this place is a gem. Whether you're popping in for a quick pint, hunting for a rare bottle, or just want to discover something new, this bottle shop delivers every time. The selection is thoughtfully curated--think local craft beers and tons of wines you won't find everywhere. It's the kind of spot where you can nerd out over tasting notes or just relax with a drink and good company. Jill's the best! Super friendly and knows her stuff. This place wouldn't be the same without this staff! Highly recommend :)

There's a deck out front near the street where you can catch some rays (weather permitting)

If you're into small-volume, hard-to-find craft beers or esoteric wines, John's is a goldmine. They do carry a lot of the big boy labels too, but the selection of local brews, ciders, and wines here is almost second to none. What seems like a nondescript storefront that's seen better days is actually a wine wonderland inside, complete with a separate bar area with 10 taps (usually local) and a grill serving some of my favorite sandwiches and smash burgers (I recommend the Killer Turkey). The stools at the counter here and the random scattering of tables nearby are usually occupied by Multnomah Village locals, so it feels very much like a community gathering spot too. The vibe is a little shabby, disheveled and low key, which makes this original location even more lovable.

This is a stunning burger…read more I have come here an embarrassing amount of times since moving back to Portland. The first time I came alone, just a little hungry and a lot broke. So I got the $6 little pleasure burger. A simple, single patty smash burger. It's everything a McDonald's burger wishes it could be - beefy and drippy, a squishy, slightly sweet bun, oozing hot grease without being heavy, lacy and crisp edges, and held together with the right amount of American cheese. It was the perfect amount for that day. Then I returned with my date. Twice. And he brought his coworkers for lunch because he liked it so much. I have had the western and the mushroom burger since, as well as the parm and chive waffle fries. They have nuggets and I'm inclined to believe they're great. The staff is great, it's a small team and they're all there every single day. They care about their product and your experience. The space is a simple counter, not good for large groups. It should be noted that even though their burgers would be great with a beer, they don't seem to have a liquor license! So don't expect an IPA with that shroom burger. Maybe someday!

Between the genuinely friendly hospitality and the flavor combinations, this spot hits it out of the park and is a must for sandwich lovers. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll. It had a generous portion of perfectly tender and sweet bulgogi steak that pairs with their melted jack cheese. The gochujang mayo sauce had a subtle and sweet heat, while the fresh kimchi added crunch and slight acidity to balance the rich meat. Elote Tater Tots (5/5): Definitely a creative side dish. The tots were perfectly fried and topped elote style with cotija cheese, pairing well with the smoky chipotle mayo on the side. Logistics Tip: Street parking is surprisingly easy to find in the surrounding area, even on a busy weekend evening. The restaurant has a spacious layout with plenty of seating options both inside and outside. If you're a first-timer, don't hesitate to ask the staff for suggestions, as they're exceptionally warm, welcoming, and passionate about the menu.

My daughter and I shared the Willamette Reuben and her friend ordered the Italian Flag. We shared the Lardo fries. Oh man, the Reuben was perfection! The flavor of the meat and everything on the sandwich, from texture to flavor--chef's kiss! We heard that the Italian Flag was excellent too.
