Although the waiting area seemed a bit dated/old, the service rendered was beyond great! Dr Schneider didn't talk to me much, which seemed odd for being a new patient, but the work was done quickly (under anesthesia no less) and the outcome was with little pain. I had heard horror stories about wisdom teeth extraction, but Dr Schneider and his team did great work and will be returning if needed for any future tooth issues.

Unfortunately, my experience with the billing and communication afterward was extremely disappointing especially with the office manager SharaLee. I was given a written estimate a month before surgery and paid what I was told was my expected patient responsibility. After insurance processed the claim, I was surprised with an additional balance of $1,000 around a month after my procedure. When I spoke with Sharalee, the office manager, over the phone, I felt the conversation was dismissive and condescending rather than focused on helping resolve the issue. I left the conversation feeling blamed instead of heard. I was frustrated by how my concerns were handled, instead of feeling like my questions were being heard, I felt blamed for not knowing exactly how my insurance maximum would be affected, despite relying on the estimate provided by the office... The procedure itself was great, but the billing experience and communication left me very disappointed. Please do your research and consider your options before coming here. The office was spotless, which to me reflected the professionalism and attention to detail of the entire practice. I appreciated that Dr. Bebeau took a panoramic X-ray during our first consultation. He carefully reviewed it with me, projecting the image onto a large screen monitor and walking me through both the good and the bad. He answered all of my questions thoroughly, and I never felt rushed. The entire staff was kind, compassionate, and understanding. I made it clear that I was anxious, and they took plenty of time to explain every step of the process, including costs and estimated out-of-pocket expenses. I was treated like a person, not just another patient. I also cannot say enough good things about the anesthesiologist. He was outstanding. He explained everything clearly, answered my questions, and helped put me at ease. His calm demeanor gave me confidence that I was in good hands. Dr. Bebeau was equally impressive. The surgery went smoothly, and my recovery was much easier than I expected. His staff checked in with me regularly, and follow-up questions were welcomed anytime, whether by phone or text. What stood out most, was the level of care throughout the entire experience, everyone was professional, attentive, and genuinely cared that I was comfortable and informed. I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. They seem very knowledgable and seem to know what they're doing when it comes to dentistry, but my concerns are more in the administration side of things. I changed jobs earlier this year and got new insurance with a common major insurance provider, and I needed to get a procedure done. I asked them what the procedure would cost and they gave me a quote, which was already expensive, and I paid that at the time of service. However, when I came in for a routine cleaning 6 months later, they said the insurance "didn't pay as much as they thought" and stuck me with MORE THAN DOUBLE their original quote. I looked into the insurance claim and called the insurance company myself, and the insurance company paid exactly what was according to their billing schedule. There were no surprises. I think the office knew (or should have known, because they're the professionals and this is what they do) that this would happen, and they dishonestly gave me a lower quote, did the service, and then stuck me with the even more expensive bill (but to their credit, they did give me a lower price than what they billed to insurance, but it was still VERY expensive that I was not prepared for). Additionally, I distinctly recall the procedure treated four teeth, but then on the bill and insurance claim, they say they treated six. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to argue this, especially because it happened so long ago. I suspect they didn't contact me about this issue earlier for this exact reason. Again, dishonest. Another concern with this dentist is that it's unprofessional that they use Zelle to get around credit/debit card transaction fees. Every merchant has to deal with card transaction fees, they shouldn't be up-charging that cost and they shouldn't be using Zelle, which is supposed to just be a peer-to-peer payment network. Lastly, as much as I love dogs, I don't think it's hygienic that they keep a dog in their office. In all, I started off loving this dentist, and very disappointed that they turned out to be this unprofessional and dishonest. I'm sad I'll have to go elsewhere from now on.

Unfortunately, I will no longer be going to see S&C Dental. They charge TOO much. I have great dental insurance and it is depleted after one visit. They want all money up front before you even get the service done. I don't have thousands of dollars just sitting around to pay in full even before service has been done. They are NOT flexible at all with creating a dental payment plan. They just expect me to whip out a credit card and charge it. Like most working people I work paycheck to paycheck. I believe because of the swanky Scottsdale location, they just think everyone has that kind of money lying around. I am sad because I really loved that office.

DR NELSON IS A GODSEND!!!!…read more Before hearing about, and being referred to Dr. Nelson, I had unfortunately experienced oral surgery from another surgeon who turned out to be negligent and was responsible for weeks of severe unnecessary pain. That doctor had extracted a tooth, put in a bone graph and placed a membrane due to a small perforation in my sinus cavity. With that other doctor, I was scheduled for one follow up visit but the intense pain I was experiencing necessitated 4 return visits within 2 weeks. I felt strongly that I had developed an infection from the procedure and requested an antibiotic. She refused, claiming there was no infection. She took no tests or CT scan to rule out an infection. Instead she was rude, dismissive and acted like I was making up the level of pain I was experiencing. After a month of her completely inappropriate behavior as my pain increased, I went to Dr. Nelson (referred by my dentist) to get a second opinion. Dr. Nelson saw me immediately and took a 3D scan which evidenced that my whole left sinus cavity was filled with infection. The smell of sulfur was overwhelming, the pain in my head and face was at a level 8-9 at all times. Dr. Nelson put me on an antibiotic and performed surgery 2 days later to check for contamination in the bone graft and clear the infection. Immediately following his procedure I was so pleased!! I had no more sulfur smell and the pain I had been dealing with for weeks had dissipated only leaving minor sensitivity from the new surgery. Reluctantly, I had to give Dr Nelson a call on a Saturday at 4pm because I was feeling a burning sensation in my mouth, which I believed was due to the strong antibiotic. He answered his phone right away, he was so kind and compassionate and he called me in a prescription to help with my burning mouth that had nothing to do with the surgery. He was so communicative that one pharmacy was closed and he took the time to call me and ask which other pharmacy I preferred. My mouth settled down immediately. On Monday, I called his office to see if I could move my followup appointment to be seen by him sooner than Wednesday. I spoke to his office staff and even though he wasn't in until Wednesday, his office staff were so pleasant and helpful. Literally a minute after hanging up with his office, Dr Nelson called me right back. He was with his family driving to Joshua tree and couldn't have been more kind, compassionate and I told him there was no problem and i would see him on Wednesday. In closing, I just finished both of my followups with Dr Nelson today. His staff is wonderful and caring. I'll be seeing him again in June to finish the work started by the other surgeon. I am hopeful that I dont need any more dental work done as far as implants, however if I do, Dr. Nelson will be the first and only doctor I would call. Update: Surgery has been completed, and I'm now 4 days post-op. Overall, the procedure went well. The doctor ended up taking a different approach than originally planned, but we're still expecting the same outcome. That said, I'm really not happy with the temporary teeth. The color is noticeably off, and multiple people have already commented on it.

I was mailed an odd ledger showing my balance due with no details just an accounting list. I asked for more details and was read over the phone the charges which some dated back 2 years ago. I asked why I hadn't been notified or billed all this time and was told that they have over 2000 patients and they don't send bills. She said it was the patient's responsibility to check with them if they have a balance due. Over those two years our family visited their practice probably 5-6 separate times for cleanings and was never once told there was a past due balance. She also told me that some patients don't check because they are hoping the dentist makes a mistake and doesn't account for their visit to avoid paying. Didn't appreciate the insinuation. Upon reviewing my bills (btw this was a small amount of money) all of the charges ended up being their billing mistakes by either incorrectly coding the insurance claims or not honoring their cost proposals for work completed. Please don't put yourself through dealing with this very unprofessional staff.
