This is probably my most favorite place to grab a good drink and salad. The Avo-Matcha drink is my all time favorite especially when adding peanut butter and nectar. Wow, I love this place! I wish it were open on the weekends. I try something new every time I am there. I eat healthy as often as possible but frequently run out of choices for a quick lunch. I absolutely love this place! I stop in a few times a week and get a protein shake for breakfast- the wrigley peeled or the red line. For lunch, my favorite is either the Buffalo Bowl or the Pesto Bowl. The people that work here are truly a pleasure to talk to and have the best customer service I have ever experienced! Protein bar is probably the healthiest lunch spot I've found in the Loop. Gone are the days of metabolic delight where I can eat a fried steak sandwhich at Ricobene's or an Italian beef for lunch,so I venture to Protein Bar. I like the Chicken Parmesean and Chili bowls the best here. They are super healthy and the quinoa adds some extra protein. This place is amazing! I love the Red Line protein shake. You can pretty much customize the shake any way you want. They have a great variety of things to eat and drink that will leave you very satisfied. The employees are great as well. They always have a welcoming attitude. I visited a Protein Bar and was thrilled with the menu. I am a vegan and it is very hard to find a healthy restaurant. I wish a Protein Bar would open in Parker, CO. There are two locations on Lincoln off Parker Road that would be a fantastic location. I hope you can open one closer to me. Incredible healty saldad choices. I usually come here to get a healthy protein drinks but the greens are the true gems here. I am in love with their selection of low fat dishes. Lot to love here -- from the steel cut oatmeal to wraps. When Protein Bar eliminated the hand squeezed juicers in store, I stopped going. I think cold pressed juice is a rip-off. It does not taste fresh. When I go to Jamba and get fresh squeezed oj, it is the bomb. I met Matt a few years ago and I really admire what he has done with this concept. He even inspired me to cook oatmeal in a rice cooker at home. I will come back when they bring the juicers back in the stores.... read more

This review is not about the staff... because they are AMAZING! They are so kind and always help with a smile on their face. This review is about management. I was in there yesterday after work (around 5:15). Right away, I noticed how HOT it was in there. I'm not talking a little warm, it was 80+ degrees. I said something to the staff as soon as I got to the register. They explained that their AC was broken. SHAME on management for keeping the store open that day. The employees constantly run back and forth all day. The cashier was pregnant and was in that type of temperature. Luckily, someone had the sense to send her home. SHAME on management for allowing that to happen. Employee's health should be above making a profit. I would suggest treating employees better. #justsaying read more

Who said you can't combine the words fast with healthy in one sentence or meal?! With plenty of protein options (whey, soy or egg), organic meats, and low calorie/high fiber content entrees, the Protein Bar will prove this to be possible. I jumped in the line of ravenous businessmen on a weekday to try the Stir Fry Asian Chicken Bowl: Warm quinoa (that up-and-coming Andean grain similar to rice) topped with lean grilled chicken breast and Asian vegetables in a light teriyaki sauce. The flavors were lacking a bit, even with the teriyaki sauce, causing it to taste a bit like a Lean Cuisine. The veggies were a tad on the crunchy side, which wasn't winning points. I will admit though that it did may be feel healthier after eating, compared to the bloating greasy options experienced around the Loop, and my entree helped loosen up those bowel movements. Ahhh... They have a large variety of smoothies, wraps, "bar-ritos" and salads to choose from--all maintaining their goal of healthy, fast, high protein food. It's a fast food joint with not one ingredient to hide (see their menu including all nutritional information)...plus it'll probably change fast food trends around the nation. Hopefully the new shops to come will be more spacious and have a viewable TV menus to make a meal decision while in line. read more

I used to come to Protein Bar every day and LOVED it, but some recent changes have left me so disappointed. I used to order the Harvest salad and it was my favorite thing ever, but now their "Super 6" salad mix is clearly from a bag. I don't want stringy pieces of lettuce with a couple shredded carrots, also clearly from a bag. What happened to the broccoli and red pepper? Are pepitas cheaper than nice big walnuts? Are plastic bowls (so bad for the environment, shame on you) cheaper than the nice paper bowls you used to have? Your salads are disgusting now, owners, do something! read more

As a person who tries to stay/go healthy when she travels, I was excited for the "Protein Bar" for breakfast when it came up on my search. There are a lot of options so try not to get too overwhelmed. I tried their cold pressed juice "market." They are all pre-made. I just wished they had more types of berries for their smoothies (they only have blueberries). For breakfast, I tried their spinach and pesto (also added turkey bacon to it). This is definitely a healthy start to breakfast. It is also not filling so beware. I love the pesto with the eggs. The pesto is also not drenched in oil which is another plus. I think the dish that stood out the most was their matcha oatmeal. If you like or love matcha, you need to try this. Top it with scrambled eggs too. This was filling/sort of and delicious. I would definitely come back just for the matcha oatmeal. Now I need to add matcha when I make oatmeal. Who would've thought? read more

A very welcome addition to the lunch rotation for the loop. I've had a couple of the bowls (Buffalo Chicken, Chili, Black Bean) and all of them have a sturdy quinoa base. And all of them have been delicious. I have not had any of the bar-ritos or the smoothies. But the bowls have been really really good. The line here can get long and grabbing seating for more than two people together can be quite the challenge. But the bowls are allegedly healthy and under 400 calories so a good alternative to the typical gut bombs that are around the loop. Plus the black bean and chili bowls are both really filling and super tasty. This place is soon becoming one of my favorites in the loop. read more

I love Protein Bar! The Southwest Salad is a bit pricey, but it's my favorite meal to order. I really like that they are a health alternative to the regular fast food places around the Willis Tower. I always feel good after eating from there and I highly recommend it. If you've never been, try the Spinach and Pesto bowl - it's very tasty. After reading the rave reviews on here, I was kind of excited. There aren't too many healthy places in the Loop. First off, I was disappointed at the mediocre vegetarian selection at a place that caters to the health food crowd. I ordered the vegetarian chili with quinoa bowl. It was bland and lacking texture, which are the two things you have to do right with veg. chili. I have made better chili at home, and I am not a good cook. This tasted like can-quality stuff. I don't see myself coming back here even though it's right across the street from my office. read more

I have never had a bad experience at Protein Bar. Yes, the restaurant tends to become very crowded at lunchtime, between 12-1pm, but the customer-staff energy is very infectious. Right now, I am on a 'summer slim down' plan, so my calorie intake is very strict. The nutritional information on the menu boards are very helpful and keep me on track. I love the fresh juices...I think I've had them all, but my favorite is Beet Box and Sweet Greens. As far as the blended drinks go, The Avo Match and The Red Line are my go-to meals in a cup. When I don't have time to prepare my own oatmeal, which eat practically 3-4 times per week, I will opt for the Pancake in a Bowl...so delicious! Did I mention the vegetarian chili? O-to-the-M-to-the-G! It is by far one of the tastiest veggie chili's I've had in a very long time. It's very tomato-y, which I love and the cumin really comes through, but not overpowering. YUM! On a serious note, one of the biggest reasons I am a huge fan The Protein Bar was because of their alliance with Brandon Marshall Foundation (Chicago Bears) and his fight against the stigma associated with mental illness. Members of my family have been affected by mental illness, so it's important to know organizations like The Protein Bar will get behind an important cause. By creating a special limited-time-only blended drink, 'Crazy Stigma Green", which is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G by the way, it helped create mental health awareness.
