What an experience at Provaré! We've been wanting to go for months and I was finally able to snag a reservation at a decent time. The food was so amazing. We got the crabby fries, lamb chops, and lobster bisque pasta. The food/menu is very customizable and you're encouraged to mix and match. We were blown away. For any special occasion, I'm always trying to get back to Provaré, and this time it was for a late Valentine's Day celebration! The inside is so upscale and classy while still being trendy. I've been here twice before and loved it! This time, I noticed they did make some changes to their menu, which was interesting. Before, they just had a simple fettuccine alfredo where you'd have to choose your own proteins at an additional cost. I did like the change that the alfredo now comes with chicken; however, I was not very crazy about the lemon pepper addition. Don't get me wrong: It was still a good pasta, but it was not my favorite like the previous iteration was, and there's no option of removing the lemon zest as it's in the sauce. I always add crab to my alfredo, and it is always soooo good. This time was no exception. I'm definitely going to try the seafood trio next time and see if that'll become my new fave! The Vegan Bolognese has remained the same, and my boyfriend still loves it! Previously, when we came, we were able to make the garlic bread be vegan, but this time we were told it was unable to be done, which was disappointing. The drinks are still amazing! We didn't get any cocktails this time, but Provare always gives a complimentary shot, and it never disappoints. The service is also always really good here. Everyone is so nice! They do add a 20% gratuity but your servers will definitely be sure to let you know that it's shared amongst the other staff and anything more goes to them directly. For an already pricey place, it does throw you off a bit especially when the servers stand in front of you as you decide what to tip them. Overall, I still love Provare! This restaurant has been on my list for quite some time and I finally made it! It did not disappoint! The place is cute and great for a drink at the bar or to sit down for a nice meal. It is very popular so be ready to wait a bit for the bar or to look ahead for a reservation. The staff were all great! Our waitress was very nice and gave us bigger plates when my friend and I were sharing our entrees. When we needed boxes, she gave us two sets of boxes for our leftovers too. Everything on their menu looks delicious and I definitely want to come back to try other items. But we started off with the spinach artichoke dip ($16) which comes with shrimp in it. They give lots of bread and there's plenty of dip to share. It was very cheesy and the shrimp was a great mix with it. The garlic bread were big pieces which helped to fill up on the dip. For the entrees, I had my eye on the Seafood Trio ($39) so we ordered this. And I always enjoy an Alla vodka ($24) which they asked if you want it spicy or not. We got it spicy and it was spicier than the seafood trio. We wished we had some bread to help with the spiciness but both were delicious! I have to say that the sauce for the seafood trio was slightly better as I felt there was more flavor and less of a just a spicy taste compared to the Alla vodka. I also like that they give plenty of seafood. For the dessert, we kept seeing the same dessert coming to different tables and apparently it's the only dessert. But this dessert is all you need. The Butter Cake ($12) was the cherry on top to the end of the night. We felt that the cake was a mix of a bread pudding and corn bread that was soft but had a crispy edge. The ice cream was perfect to mix with the hot dessert. My friend and I said that we would come here at the bar for a drink and the dessert alone. This dessert is a must! However, when the bill arrived, our server said that the restaurant automatically adds a 20% service charge (that cannot be removed) and that the 20% goes to the "house" but not to our server. Anything we tip on top of that would go to her. It was really awkward after knowing that and not leaving something extra for her so we ended up leaving almost a 40% tip on a $200+ bill. We were on time but the restaurant was a little backed up. I had high hopes for this place but it was so mid the Italian and creole flavors clashed. The herbs were to noticeable in taste and visually. Looking back I don't even think the waitress liked the food there. My crab meat was also over cooked. Which seemed odd because it was clearly placed on top of the pasta and not cooked with it. I also get this weird feeling that the pasta was reheated. It came out very fast and it was retaining heat in the center in a way that didn't seem natural. The appetizer was ok, we got artichoke dip. The bread that came with it was horrible! Limp and flavorless, which was crazy because it looked like they tried to pan-toast it. Please just put it INSIDE an oven! This restaurant came off as a place that wants to appear as a fancy upscale restaurant but has no idea what that actually is. It's not dim lights and Steve Harvey suits. We had reservations for 3 but was told the two of us could not sit until all 3 of us were there. The hostess also wouldn't allow not allow us to sit at the bar while we waited. She did inform us that they have a strict 90 min seating policy which I understood seeing that they were very busy. The decor was fun and gave a lounge vibe. As for the food, the portions were large and it was good. We tried the Garlic Bread; my friend had the seafood trio as is with the Corn and I had the seafood trio not spicy with a lamb chop and the Butter Cake. Loved the Garlic Bread and I could have eaten that all day. The Seafood trio had a lot of seafood in it and the sauce was good. My friend though it was just okay. She really enjoyed the Corn. My Lamb chop was weird as it had Cinnamon spice on it. I didn't enjoy that at all. The Butter Cake was okay nothing to rave about. I really wanted to enjoy the food and rave about the place as most have, but it is hard to because when I got home, I was so sick and couldn't keep anything on my stomach. We arrived at 805 for our 800 PM reservation and were told we would be called when our table was ready. There is nowhere to sit and wait, everybody just stands in a long line by the front door. I HATE to think how uncomfortable this would be in a freezing Chicago winter, waiting by the constantly opening door. We were sat about 15 minutes after arriving and greeted with complimentary shots of rum punch, omg it was tasty and STRONG. Our waitress, Cat, was such a good vibe, friendly, constantly checked on us and was able to answer any questions we had and so funny! The restaurant itself is very grown and sexy if a smidge tight. They have utilized every inch of the space for tables! The music playing set added to the atmosphere with a perfectly curated R & B playlist. I ordered the Randolph(passionfruit) cocktail, crab cakes (which are mini) and lamb chops with sweet corn. The crab cakes were amazing, hot, fresh with lots of crab and I loved the sauce on them. I tasted my friend's salmon egg rolls and they were ok. A bit oily and I'm not sure if the weird taste I got was from the rolls or the sauce that accompanied them. My lamb chops were cooked perfectly, no extra sauce even needed on the side. The corn that came with it was really good also, I just feel it could have used a touch less of the chipotle aioli. It was soaking in it. We ended our meal by ordering and sharing the butter cake. It was very moist and soooo good; very sweet, but the ice cream it came with was perfect to cut the sweetness.The final bill was $217.00, not bad for two drinks, two appetizers, two entrees and dessert. As soon as we sat down, we were given water and our waitress came over minutes later. She was extremely nice and attentive. It was not really packed and the music down there was also nice. Everything about this place makes it worth visiting. The vibes are immaculate with the elegant velvet chairs, beautiful marble table and black walls with gold accents. The customer service was also amazing and so inviting that we were given a welcome shot upon arrival. My boyfriend and I were still very full from lunch so we opted to split the shrimp cognac scampi which worked out pretty well since the portion was large so it warrants the price. I could not get over how delicious the creamy sauce was with the plump, juicy shrimp and what I believe is mafaldine pasta. I was able to visit the old Provare location when it first opened. The food was great, but the ambiance and service were not as high quality as the place is now. First, the ambiance of this place is very luxe. The seating area is great, tables are well spaced, booths are comfy, the color scheme makes it cozy for a girls night or a date night! The service was spectacular, our server had great recommendations for our table and all of our dishes came out super quick. The staff was quick to bring refills, check in on us, and ensure everything was going smoothly. For the food, the spinach & artichoke is a must. It's a big portion, along with the Caesar salad. The salad is not like a traditional Caesar salad, but it's a nice shareable size. The entrees look small, but they're all big enough to have leftovers, even if you come hungry! Music was great, people were flowing in and out easily, the vibes were great. It's awesome to see Provare's progression. Only complaint was that as great as the service was, it does feel a bit rushed, so be prepared if you visit on a weekend, you may need to head to the bar after your meal or their speakeasy! read more

I've been seeing Provare all over TikTok and Instagram, and I finally scored a reservation this past Thursday. From the start, I was greeted by a man with great energy, which set a nice tone for the evening. Our reservation was for 7:30, but the business was running a couple of minutes behind. We started with calamari and parmesan fries as appetizers, along with two drinks. Unfortunately, both drinks were underwhelming--seemed like they had more mixer than alcohol, which was disappointing. For my main course, I had the seafood trio pasta, which was good but felt a little pricey for what I got. For $39, I only received 4 shrimp, which felt like a bit of a rip-off. My friend had the lamb, and she said it was great. Here's where things got frustrating. When booking online, there's a $5 booking fee that's supposed to be deducted from the bill. When the check arrived, I noticed a 20% gratuity added for two people, but the $5 wasn't taken off. I asked the waitress about it, and she said the booking fee is handled by the company they use for reservations, not the restaurant. Will always go to Provare when I get the chance. We actually almost ordered all of the appetizers and they were good. The trio seafood pasta is a hit even though the drunken pasta is not on the menu you can still order it. read more
