Discovered Basil & Bunny at Rhode Island VegFest and they absolutely lived up to the hype. With a 4.9 rating on Google, expectations were high and they delivered. They had cookies and tarts that looked incredible (definitely going back to try those ), but we went for the classic vegan hot dog and it was so satisfying. Super flavorful, generously loaded with sauces, and that perfect crunch in every bite. It had that nostalgic street-food feel while being completely plant-based. After trying them at the fest, we're definitely planning a visit to their restaurant to explore more of the menu. First time here to eat. I was looking for a healthy meal choice for an early dinner and thought I would check out the Basil & Bunny. Actually, I purchased a couple gift cards for B&B for my son and his fiancé and he highly recommended it. I ordered the Bunny Mac which has two house made bean patties and an organic pomegranate sparkling beverage. I was disappointed that they didn't have the three buns for this sandwich and had to choose a brioche bun as a substitute.The burger was very good with just the right amount of fancy sauce. Basil & Bunny was a stop on the inaugural Triple Play: Best Donuts, Best Cookies, & Best Cupcakes by RI FOOD FIGHTS journey. The Triple Play runs from April 1st thru April 30th. The coupon at Basil & Bunny was for 1 chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chip cookie was sooooo good. The cookie was ultra soft and chewy and its edges were slightly crisp. I would definitely come back and get the chocolate chip cookie. I voted Basil & Bunny for the best cookie. Since it was near lunchtime, I also ordered one of the specials, the Frickle Burger, small bunny fries, and a slice of the lemon lavender cake. The frickle burger was absolutely delicious - the seasoned impossible patty, cheese, hand battered fried pickles, lettuce, tomato, spicy ranch on a toasted brioche - worked so well together. The bunny fries came out piping hot and were fried for perfection. I ordered a small, but it was definitely a good amount of fries. I dipped the fries in a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The lemon lavender cake had good flavor, but it was a little dry. I am not vegan, but all the food flavors were spot on and I will definitely be back. Basil & Bunny is located in Bristol's Unity Park complex alongside many other businesses. There are a lot of parking spaces in the complex and street parking. I walked in and the space was very open and inviting. Lyslie Smith, owner and founder of Basil & Bunny, was in the kitchen and popped her head out to welcome me to the restaurant. There are plenty of seating tables inside and outside. The staff member who took my order was very friendly. Basil and bunny never disappoints. Evwrytime I don't get the Buff Bunny, I wish I did. That's exactly what I got this time- no regrets. Basil and Bunny makes the best seitan sandwiches around, no exceptions. They transform vital wheat gluten into a firm, meaty piece of "chicken" that they season perfectly and fry up for one really solid sandwich. This time the seitan patty seemed a little softer texture wise than it has in the past and it was less crisp, but it was still really good. I'm sure it just varies batch to batch and this is the first time out of the dozen or so sandwiches I've had that seemed a little different- still very good and maybe even a more preferable version to some people. Staff is always friendly and if you eat in, you get to enjoy their calming, clean and "nature filled" dining area. What a delight it is to visit Basil & Bunny! I've been to their storefront a few times and they never disappoint. The atmosphere is totally stunning. It's light, bright, airy, and so perfectly decorated. The girl who took my order was also super friendly and welcoming and it added to the already enjoyable experience. I was with my husband this trip and we both ordered the Buff Bunny sandwich. This dish was a knockout! It was piled high with a huge piece of "chicky" seitan that was doused in buffalo sauce, topped with a crunchy slaw, crisp lettuce, and a juicy tomato slice, all held together on a soft brioche bun. These flavors and textures work so well together and make for a really delicious and cohesive sandwich. The seitan is prepared uniquely from other vegan restaurants I've been to because it's formed into a thick patty that is very reminiscent of a meat protein. A small side of dressed greens is also included, which is appreciated, and the house made "hunny" mustard is so tasty! We also split a chocolate chip cookie, which I thought was good too. It did have a different taste to it, which is to be expected from a vegan cookie, but I still liked it. My husband did not care for the cookie, so I ate his half, but we both agreed that the texture was excellent. It had crunchy edges and a soft middle - perfection. Neither my husband nor I are vegan, but we both love the food at Basil & Bunny. I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant regardless of your dietary needs as it will please everyone in the party. Had the opportunity this afternoon to visit Basil & Bunny for lunch with my sister who is local. OMG - yum! Ordered the Bunny Mak burger (mushroom and bean patty) which was incredible. The sauce, the bun and the flavors all were on point. We also ordered the Korean Grain bowl with Gochuchang tofu and local kimchi. I will dream about this flavor combination for months to come.... Sipped on a Blue Mermaid lemonade which was another tasty treat. Finished it off with a slice of Biscoff Cake- heaven! My Jalapeño hopper was a nice combo. I was looking for kick and the jalapeño provided it. The cashew 'cheese' provided the right texture and flavor to compliment it. The crispy onions added some great crunch. Overall I would say it lived up to the stated motto "All your favorite foods, made from plants." The location is pretty awesome in a former mill in Bristol. Nearby is Borealis and Pivotal Brewing. I invited a group and we took out Basil & Bunny into Pivotal, but the cute decor inside Basil & Bunny was pretty inviting in its own right, with sweet wallpaper and cozy tables all following the theme. Basil & Bunny was primarily a food truck operation until summer 2022. Leslie, the owner and chef, is wonderful! They recently opened this permanent location, and I couldn't be happier! Their plant based menu is extensive which options to appeal to everyone. On this visit, we ordered the honey crispy 'chicken' salad, the avocado salad, and the nacho fries. These are our go-to choices. Limited drink options (for now - Leslie says there are more on the way!). However, they also serve wine and beer. The restaurant itself is very cute. There are live plants and succulents in the area. Service is friendly and authentic. They say hello to everyone who walks in, and your food is delivered to your table with a smile! Last comment is that anything in bowls is served in compostable paper containers. However, the restaurant itself does not compost. It would be less wasteful if they switched to serving everything on the trays (a tray salad would be great, IMO!) and only provided the to go containers for take away / leftovers. read more

This restaurant is a plant based restaurant and it is delicious The Korean Ooo-Mami did not disappoint at all!! This dish is made with Gochujang tofu, garlicky kale, ave, kimchi, green onions, black sesame seeds, micro greens, sweet ginger soy dressing, garlic aioli, brown rice. I have tired a few plant based dishes and meals in the past and I can honestly say this is the best plant based meal I have ever had. Firstly, let me state that I am not a vegan. In fact, I'm one of those people who has a certain discontent for the idea of vegan food. However, after eating at Basil and Bunny, I'd say that feeling of discontent is misguided, at least for their food. I came here for an event with my hopes pretty low. I have to say that whatever sorcery they're using in the kitchen to make their food needs to be studied. Regardless of the fact that what they are serving is vegan, it's some of the best tasting food I've had...period. To compare the Chickies and Burgers to chicken sandwiches and hamburgers would be a disservice. While I believe the intent is to present food that is not made from meat, to look, feel, and taste like meat, I think it's better to put this food in it's own category because that's what it deserves. The sauces are incredible and the Mac and Cheeze is somehow some of the best Mac and Cheese I've tasted...again...sorcery. Lastly, the restaurant itself was incredibly clean and well maintained. I tend to eat their food too quickly to photograph it, and since this was the year of takeout, the best photos are on Basil and Bunny's Instagram. But their brunch is fantastic. I came for the pancakes and I stayed / died / went to Heaven for their breakfast burrito. This is surprising for me because I grew up in New Mexico and I'm very particular about my breakfast burritos. I don't know what they did, but it was delicious. I also had a Buffalo seitan sandwich (I believe?) back in the summer and it was SO filling, but in a good way. Like, damn I got my money's worth way. And those passion fruit cotton tails are award winning - I'm not just saying that, they really are! They were my unexpected favorite of the bunch. Basil and Bunny's truck happened to be at the brewery we decided to try in RI. The burgers options are definitely interesting! I got the bunny mak (a vegan version of the big mak) and my bf got a special burger with corn I believe. We also got a side of fries and the pop tart dessert. The burgers were really good!! They were substantial and had great flavor. The only thing I would add is something to give the burger more texture. At some point midst meal, the mak just died in my hands and became a mush pile. Because the "meat" was also a mushy consistency, it was very hard to distinguish what was what. The stand out item were the fries. They were so crispy and light!! The pop tart was also so good. Every dish that Basil and Bunny creates is guarantee amazing! I've been enjoying their food since they started in February, and I have never had a dish I didn't like! They usually pop up weekly at Hope & Main in Warren but sometimes they are in Providence on a Saturday. The regular menu involves veggie patty burgers, chicky seitan sandwiches, cheezy fries, bowls and more. I'm working my way through the regular menu but those weekly specials are too hard to resist! There is always a unique special that is only available for a week or two before it rotates to the next special. Off the regular menu, I love the tots and onion rings. They really hit the spot. They are great paid with a chicky seitan sandwich! Two specials that stayed around were tacos and the cheezesteak. The cheezesteak is my current favorite! Recently they had a Brunch Sunday with pancakes, breakfast burger, avocado toast, and more. I'm not sure if I like the brunch or dinner options more, they're are just too good! Another day special was the Picnic Basket, which included a deli style sandwich, a side, and a cookie. I'm really hoping for this one to make a return! Cute and clean looking vegan burger joint where has great reviews, why not try?! I'm a vegetarian and my husband mostly vegetarian as well. So we did, my husband had a jalapeño hopper and I had a buff bunny , no slaw and ranch on the side. Waited for good 20 minutes my burger had slaw in it, so took it back. While waiting we had fries, it was good but small portions. It wasn't crowded, but waited for another 10 minutes, poor my husband's burger got cold. He didn't enjoy the burger because lack of flavor and impossible burger was mushy. Buns were not warm, crispy chicken was extremely oily and flavorless. Ranch was also flavorless just salt. I didn't like it at all. They were quite big burgers but not our taste, so sad we had a high hope. read more

We had tried Basil & Bunny over a year ago and remembered it being tasty, but haven't really had the opportunity to have it again until today. They were parked at Narragansett Beer in Providence across from India Point Park which was very convenient for us since we often walk our dog at the park. There was a long line of customers so we knew it would be a bit of a wait which was fine. Everything on the menu is plant based. We ordered the Hoppy Popper burger, the Bunny Mak, and a couple of their Pride Mmm Bop Tarts (in celebration of Pride Month). The Bop Tarts which is similar to a Pop Tart was amazing! It was soft and had a nice sweetness to it that wasn't overwhelming. The filling was a house made strawberry jam that was yummy and the Bop Tart itself was so aesthetically pleasing in all its colors (I am a sucker for foods with a lot of color). I also love that Basil & Bunny will be donating a portion of sales from these Bop Tarts to RI Youth Pride. The burgers were also really good, but both my husband and I agreed that the Hoppy Popper was the winner between the two. This burger was so juicy and flavorful. It is evident that all their food is carefully made with a lot of effort. We waited about 45 minutes in total to get our food, but completely expected that and felt it was reasonable given the quality of the food. read more

Some of the best vegan food I've ever had, but they consistently don't have things in stock and do not post about it anywhere so you show up and can't get what you want. Like why are you advertising and pushing the specials in store but then you try and order them and are told "oh we're out of that"??? Why are things not available when it's the lunch hour?? At least label what's out of stock! They've also been skimping on things like the cheese fries for what they're charging--$9 and our bowls had maybe 2 tsps of cheese sauce on them. Just months ago they were generously layered with cheese. Even more ridiculous is that they won't serve their bowls on the weekend. I don't understand why you'd remove everyday menu offerings just to push brunch food. I hope they can turn it around because I'd like them to last, but it's just too difficult right now to even order what I want. read more

A cute bunny food truck provides option on old classics and new creations for those who are not vegan without compromising taste and quality. Discovered this little spot that opens on Friday evenings and had been visiting since last May when there wasn't a travel restriction between MA and RI due to COVID. How does one make Big Mac vegan? What about that Whopper? Chicken Sando? Cheesesteak? Clam cakes? The innovative chefs do this and more. We love the cheesesteak and have it over fries. You can't tell it's not meat and the vegan cheese is so good! The onion rings are fried perfectly with panko paired with their own hunny mustard. Clam cakes are pretty awesome too! All dessert are gourmet made from scratch from chocolate dipped cookies, mmmbop-tarts, and decadent cottontails that are moist rolled in cookie crumbles. The house made burgers are amazing! The seitan sandwiches are exceptional. Seitan tends to be dry, but they've managed to make it tender and crispy. The fries are great, but expensive. I also made the mistake of getting everyone in the family a $7 sparkling water, and ordering sauces without realizing they were $1 each. My 12-year-old son said the buff bunny was the best sandwich he's had in a long time. My 9-year-old was surprised to find out it wasn't meat.
