I came here for Chinese Valentine's Day, and the atmosphere was super good. I definitely feel a lot of energy in the venue. We were lucky there were also a life music that day, and it brings a lot of vibrant energy as well. There was also a lot of greens and even though we're sitting outside, it wasn't cold. We got the tasting menu and for a tasting menu. It's honestly very big portion. The waiter was able to introduce her to a lot of of the ingredients. They are very special. And the meal is just amazing. The seasoning is really cool. It's just not what you will typically expect and it's not something that feels like fusion. It's really just one of a kind. We had an amazing time there, and we will definitely swing by again. Highly recommended.

the inside has a nicer vibe/ambiance than the outdoor patio! the tinaktak was great, udon-like noodles with a creamy coconut curry based sauce and tender fatty ground beef. liked the cabbage slaw in the sweet and sour pork belly, however the pork belly itself was overcooked and tough to chew. would love to give this place another shot with their titiyas, yams, and grits!

This spot has been on my radar for some time, when people think Guamanian food, and you're just not sure what that is. Finally made it out here with some friends who were also equally curious as I was. We opted to order à la carte rather than going with the fiesta set menu. While the fiesta set menu did sound good, many of the dishes we wanted to try were not on the list. Our favorites had to be the Ko'ko' wings and the Tinaktak. Prubechu is a great place for groups, which is a must have so you can try many dishes. Outdoor seating was lively, with a live band on Friday night, but it can be quite noisy/loud for those who are sensitive to sound.

It's been a while since we last visited Prubechu. Decided to return when on a date night with the hubs. Made reservations for a Friday and glad we did as they were busy. Decided to live it up and go with the Fiesta Table (chef's tasting menu - $96/person). Can't remember all the dishes that arrived, but we were happily stuffed. Standouts were the housemade foccacia (soft and love the kimchi on top), the tapioca chips with the crab and avocado, chicken dumpling (so so good - would've liked at least 5 more of these), and the yucca (?) fries that came with the fish and chips and that tartar sauce. Service was great and at no time did we feel rushed. Nice way to spend an evening with the hubs.

Prubechu is coming up on 12 years, and I can't believe I haven't been to the place or heard of it until now. My friend put me on, and this was THE place to go to, eat well, and catch up. Food, service, and ambiance are everything! Upon arrival, I was already jamming to many of my favorite island reggae hits; they were blasting, and the pretty Guam flag was waving outside their patio fence. I gravitated to that right away, but I did not realize it was not the entrance, haha. FOOD: 9/10 SERVICE: 10/10 and beyond AMBIANCE: 10/10 FOOD: 9/10 We ordered Tinaktak, Brisket, Red Rice, Butter Rolls, and their Tropical Seltzers (non-alcoholic). Everything was very flavorful, yummy, had great portions, and was served hot. My favorite was the Tinaktak (egg noodles in a citrusy coconut broth with fresh veggies). I can honestly eat this on my own, seriously! SERVICE: 10/10 I was still waiting for my friend when I arrived, and they were so nice to seat me right away despite waiting for a bit. My friend and I did not realize they closed at 3 pm, and we did not start eating until 2:30 pm. They let us eat and take our time, even when they were closed. They genuinely let us do our thing, eat peacefully, and catch up. Funny thing is, they actually caught on that we were catching up, which was so funny! We had interactions with 4 different staff members, and each one of them was so kind. As we left, the entire team greeted us goodbye, which was very sweet. AMBIANCE: 10/10 We sat outside on the patio, and I love that they had a big fence to cover the outside commotion and busy street. The twinkle lights and the many plants they had were very cute. I noticed there were barely any dirt or spider webs on their tents, and it was very clean outside. The tables are spaced out so there is space between customers/tables. The inside is just as cute, if not more. I also love the merchandise station they have with Prubechu swag and knick-knacks. I 100% will be coming back soon for sure and will recommend this to many friends, as well as add it to my list of places to go to again.

3.5 stars. We've walked past Prubechu's lively patio on several occasions, our imaginations running wild wondering what hid behind the painted fence. While we didn't get to experience their evening ambiance as we lunched here at opening time, I can see why this eatery is a prime gathering spot for dinner. We ordered a decent sampling of items to familiarize ourselves with Guamanian food: -- Empanadas, one with Cheese & Mushroom, & another with Beef & Potato: sizable, perfect for sharing. The piquant fillings were closer to a mash or puree. -- Chicken Kelaguen & Coconut Titiyas: comes two to an order, we added on an extra so we could each enjoy one. Wrapped like a taco, the chicken was marinated in lemon & coconut. Extra flavorful with a dollop of their homemade hot sauce made of peppers, eggplant, & coconut milk. -- Pika Tamales Gisu with Fried Egg: steamed in a banana leaf, the soft, moist consistency is similar to Guatemalan or Filipino tamales. Both sweet & savory which isn't a profile combo I always enjoy. -- Thrice Cooked Brisket Skewer: fork tender, but lacking in seasoning. Beefy & lightly flavored with soy sauce which would please meat purists. -- Red Rice: fluffy & seasoned with achiote. The cooking styles & even language has similarities to my own Filipino culture; I'm intrigued by the semi-familiar flavor profiles. Our first foray into the world of Chamorro cuisine hopefully won't be our last.

Ko'ko wings 5/5 delicious crispy and juicy, they thoughtfully provide wet towelettes to clean the turmeric off

After a work event, a few girlfriends and I stopped by Prubechu for cocktails, bites, and dessert. They were incredibly welcoming and set us up on the patio in partial shade, just as musicians were setting up nearby. Highlights were the pickles and chicken wings. We also sampled a noodle dish and their take on grits, a mushed version of their red rice. Really interesting. They do cocktails and desserts too, and we loved being able to enjoy everything outside. Reservations are recommended. We called ahead and were lucky to snag a spot, and by the time we left, the place was packed. Love seeing unique SF spots heading in this direction--down-to-earth vibes but with elevated iterations of heritage dishes at reasonable prices.

Fabulous! So fun! I've gone a couple times now at different times and with different people and it'll stay in my rotation of yummy food in the mission. Dishes are well done, good fry on their chicken, noodles were well textured, and my favorite dish, their Japanese yams. Their cocktails are delicious and their outdoor space always has live music. It's a must!

The vibes are great, this place has a lot of outdoor seating with heat lamps. Service was excellent and the food was good. Didn't care too much for the basil smash cocktail but overall good experience!

I love Prubechu. The first time I ate there, I was so blown away that I genuinely looked up flights to Guam that night. The flavors are bold, unique, and completely transportive, it's the kind of meal that feels like travel. And the wings? LIFE-CHANGING. I go back for those alone. Over the years, prices have climbed, and what used to feel like a casual dinner spot has become more of a special-occasion restaurant for me. That said, the quality, creativity, and overall experience still feel thoughtful and worth it. The patio is a whole vibe- warm, lively, and perfect for lingering over drinks and sharing multiple dishes with friends. This review is really to highlight a Super Bowl event I attended that showcased the collab between Prubechu and Ortega (yes, that Ortega). They threw an incredible party--free-flowing drinks, nonstop tacos, and the food never ran out. The energy stayed high from start to finish, and the whole event felt seamless and fun. Shout out to the DJ too! If you're looking for a venue for a corporate event or large celebration, this is absolutely one to consider. They clearly know how to host. One logistical note: parking in this area can be tough. I highly recommend taking public transportation or a rideshare to keep things stress-free.

    Chicken Kelaguen and Coconut Titiyas

This restaurant is a little oasis on mission street. We were seated outside and vibes were great. Heat lamps to keep us warm and great live music. The food was not up to par. For the prices, the food undelivered on quantity and quality. Chicken Kelaguen & Coconut Titiyas An unassuming dish. 2 barbecued chicken tacos for $21 is a steep price even for SF. The coconut, lemon, and smoky chicken imbued a tropical vibe, but overall I was left disappointed. Ko'Ko' Wings The wings are one of Prubechu's most popular items and I can see why. Dry spiced fried chicken that tastes like a better ranch seasoning. The lemon finadenne was a great addition as well. But it did not warrant its $5 a wing pricetag. Lechen Birenghenas A cold, soggy, and bland serving of eggplant. Maybe this dish isn't for me, but I don't see any redeeming qualities. Tinaktak This was tasty in a way that felt accidental. Almost like a hodge-podge of ingredients thrown into a bowl. The sauce felt like a cream of mushroom soup. Very amateurish. Sweet & Sour Pork Belly The pork belly was disappointing. But even worse, the bed of vegetables and pineapple was intensely sweet.

I have been eyeing this place for soooo long but it's such a spendy restaurant that I was waiting for a special occasion to check it out. We decided to get brunch here on Sunday and are glad that they do the standard menu as I wanted to try the fiesta table experience along with the Chamorro sweet rolls and Koko wings. Note that the fiesta menu, 96pp, is mostly orthogonal to the offerings on the menu, so you're in for a true omakase-like experience! They do let you know approximately what's in the fiesta table, in case of any allergies. The fiesta table is extremely filling. We are good on food for the day, honestly. The progression of dishes was spot on - from smaller bites to heavier. I particularly loved the beef glass noodle lumpia and the dessert. The other courses we good but not impressive. The beef was extremely tough. I'd say the fiesta table is a good experience to try once if you want to splurge, as the regular menu is more affordable with similar levels of satisfaction. As we were too full from fiesta table but still want to check the hype of the Chamorro sweet rolls and Koko wings, we got this to-go. Frankly it's overhyped. $12+ for a small piece of bread with butter that has an interesting sour aftertaste is intriguing but not worth the price tag. I didn't like that it had strong vinegar flavor. The Koko wings were good but $24+ for 5 pieces is extremely steep. I wouldn't have ordered this if it wasn't expensed. I have similar preparation for a fraction of the price, but the dipping sauce is tangy and nice, so I guess that's kinda unique? Cocktails are really weak - it felt watered down and the ratios of the ingredients felt off. Sure it was $13 per cocktail which is below market price but that shouldn't mean it has to be worse quality if you want the whole dining experience to be positively well-rounded. Service is okay - it can be quite slow. I understand waiting a bit between the major courses to digest but it was quite lengthy wait like 30-40+ minutes.

Chamorro sweet rolls & tuba butter, pickled vegetables bag and Ko' Ko' Wings
    Jamey P.

Wow, what a meal! Came here for a double date dinner last night and we all enjoyed the food. We were seated at a table outside, where they have a large tent that can accommodate more people compared to indoors. They make the most of the space with decorations, heating lamps and music. The dishes have lots of flavor! And made to share. Tinaktak - My favorite of the meal. I could honestly eat this on my own. Good mixture of noodles, beef, tomatoes and mushrooms. Reminiscent of the Filipino vegetable dish laing. Chamorro Sweet Rolls & Tuba Butter - So warm, butter was sooo smooth, a great pairing with the next item ... Ko' Ko Wings - Had to get these, and got every bit of meat on each one. They almost remind me of lemon pepper wings from WingStop, but elevated and not as greasy. The yellow stain left on my fingers was hard to rub off, even with the hand wipes they provided (which was a nice courtesy). Chicken Empanada - Haven't had an empanada quite like this. Guamanian empanadas don't have a thick pastry, so the filling stands out. Pika Tamales Gisu & Fried Egg - An interesting combination, topped with spicy garlic chili oil. I agree with other reviews on the cost - the dishes seem overpriced for what you get. But I'm all for supporting unique restaurants like this one, and it was a treat to come here. The servers were on top of it. They split our dishes to come out in two waves, checked on us, filled our waters, cleared our plates and were overall friendly.

In part, it's because I had no idea the old Five Happiness restaurant that used to call this place home had even closed, but, really, I just tend to forget about every restaurant on this block (save for Brothers Korean BBQ). That is, until we heard that they sell Chinese BBQ roast pork and roast duck here, which we're always on the lookout for! Compared to some of the other nearby Chinese restaurants, L H feels a bit bigger in size, but, outside of that, not much about it feels all that indistinguishable or notable. As for the menu, we knew we were going to be trying their Chinese BBQ, but it was nice to see that they have over 140+ dishes to choose from, even despite how it didn't seem like there was a specific signature offering or specialty. Still, with so many options available, it was nice to see just about every Chinese staple dish was accounted for and that there seemed to be something for everyone. -- THREE BBQ ITEM PLATE with Roast Pork, Roast Duck, and Char Siu The dish we came here for, but it was a mixed bag. The biggest issue for me was how everything was cool/room temp, but at least the Roast Pork wasn't bad - a touch underseasoned, but crispy-ish. The Roast Duck was also decent (albeit lean), but the Char Siu was a bit dry. -- BEEF STEW & WONTON NOODLE SOUP with Egg Noodles While the portion size was generous, nothing about this stood out. On the plus side, the wontons were fairly plump and the noodles had a nice bite to them. However, the broth wasn't very rich and several chunks of the beef stew were chewy/tough. -- TOMATO BEEF JI MIEN This didn't do much for me, but, to be fair, I'm not a big fan of the dish in general. Although it came with a generous amount of tomatoes on top, all of the sauce and everything didn't leave much crispiness to the noodles. -- BEEF WITH SCRAMBLED EGG OVER RICE I didn't have a ton of this one, but it might have been the best dish we had. Sadly, some of the rice felt a little firm, but the eggs were cooked exactly how I prefer for this dish and the slices of beef were actually surprisingly tender. Much like the food, the service here was fine, but it seems they may not be as generous as they used to be. While the workers were friendly enough, my relative, who comes here often and is the one who put this place on our radar, mentioned they no longer give free soup with their lunch plates and that the portions looked slightly smaller than he remembered. I personally can't say if that's actually the case or not, so take it for what it's worth, but I also don't have any reason to doubt him either. All in all, even though nothing about L H Restaurant, or their food, amazed us, I can't say anything specific failed us either. Rather, our visit just felt really lackluster and generic. If anything, the most notable thing about this place is how curiously early they close, even on weekends (closes at 7pm). Given all of that, I can't say we have much of a reason to come back, especially in an area like the Richmond where we really don't have to go far to find the same or better. Located on the ground floor of the infamous leaning Milennium Tower in San Francisco's Financial District, INTERNATIONAL Smoke was Michael Mina's fine dining barbecue restaurant collaboration with multi-hyphenate entrepreneur Ayesha Curry. I visited this place once, for a small dinner party hosted by Charles Schwab on Tuesday, October 14, 2024. We arrived shortly after 6:35 PM. The atmosphere was modern, but casual and hip, funky with exposed metal accents popping through concrete floors and columns. Evidently, the fully booked days were behind them - despite the place's popularity as a fun, lively eatery with the occasional celebrity spotting, the restaurant was fairly quiet that night and not a single person was at the bar. We were seated in the spacious Atrium with floor to ceiling windows. INTERNATIONAL Smoke was not your traditional barbecue restaurant. They presented a globally-inspired grill-centric carte inspired by the rich heritages of the co-founders. The globetrotting meat dishes highlighted diverse international flame-cooking and smoking traditions. The ambitiously broad menu intended to take diners on a culinary journey around the world, but, instead, delivered a disjointed and scattered passport. Similar to the food offerings, INTERNATIONAL Smoke's drink catalogue featured some rotating crafted cocktails that leaned into global flavours, such as KUNG FU PANDAN ($18) and MIDNIGHT IN OAXACA ($20). Boozy beverages like TICKLE ME PINK ($19), NEGRONI ($19), and the ESPRESSO MARTINI ($20) were enjoyed by some of my tablemates. A couple of us stuck to the ZERO PROOF potables like the BUZZ FREE BEE ($15) and RASPBERRY FIELDS ($12) of which the latter I found to be delightful. Cool ice cubes, too! Below are a few of the dishes that we ordered: DOUBLE DUCK WINGS ($28) - I don't eat duck, but my dining mates raved over the tender mango-habanero glazed meat that was falling off the bones. BLACK TRUFFLE CAESAR ($20) - This was a substantial serving, and the sweet onion crema, fried garlic, and truffle vinaigrette all worked well together. ROASTED CAULIFLOWER ($18) - Meh. Perhaps my prejudice against raisins and tehina got in the way of enjoying this STARTER. BLISTERED SHISHITO PEPPERS ($16) - There was not a single blister on any of the peppers, so, unfortunately, the expected smoky, charred flavour was completely absent. MISO YAKI BLACK COD ($48) - This order came with two considerable sized filets of the velvety soft and flaky fish served atop mild shishito peppers sitting in a light ginger dashi broth. It could have just been me, but one of the slices looked a bit undercooked. DUNGENESS CRAB GARLIC NOODLES ($45) - Joanna went with this rich, buttery dish of noodles tossed with wood ear mushrooms, generous portions of Dungeness crab, and heavily garlicked. It was hearty, but I didn't see any bok choy mixed in there, which would have disappointed me if I were Joanna. PERI PERI HALF CHICKEN ($39) - Dustin ordered this dish. The poultry appeared to be well marinated, so I can only assume that the deep, fiery acidic flavour with the pronounced smoky element came through in each bite. Surprisingly, no rants nor raves on this from Dustin...who is usually very opinionated. PORK BELLY FRIED RICE ($17) - Not the worst, but not the best. For the small bowl, this was a major rip off. FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS ($15) - Wow, for the price, this should have knocked our socks off, but was pretty lackluster. 8 OZ. CENTER CUT FILET MIGNON ($68) - I ordered this steak plate. The meat was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the taste of the red wine demi and the stuffed portobello mushroom were unremarkable. LEMON OLIVE OIL CAKE ($14) - This did not stray far from the standard olive oil cake, just a touch of lemon added to the cake's flavour + the pluot garnishes. Nothing standout about this, unintriguing. "SMOKED" CHOCOLATE S'MORES ($14) - Not your typical s'mores, more of an elevated take on the campfire classic with a valrhona molten cake sitting atop brûléed marshmallow fluff with a side of graham cracker crumble and a scoop of ice cream. CINNAMON CHURROS ($13) - The accompanying blueberry cheesecake and meyer lemon curd dips were the sole unique elements of this sugar-dusted fried pastry dessert. Without them, this plate would have been underwhelming. Mediocre food at high-end prices aside, table service was friendly. What was all the hype over INTERNATIONAL Smoke? My true guess is that the affiliation with Steph Curry and his basketball friends who would pop in were the big draw...because even with all of the smoking, this place had no fire.

YakiniQ really said "leave hungry? never heard of her."…read more Pulled up with my homie Jun because this man treated me to lobster last time and you already know... Asians keep receipts but in a wholesome way We don't split love, we rotate blessings. For $49.99/person, this AYCE Korean BBQ was straight violating my self-control. The short ribs?? HELLA BUSSIN. Like actually criminal. Every bite had me ascending like a TikTok food review in 4K. Meat so juicy I almost stood up and thanked the cow personally. The grill smoke got us smelling like seasoned warriors walking outta there but honestly worth it. Staff kept the meats coming faster than my auntie asking why I'm still single. And let me put y'all onto some elite Chinese vocabulary real quick: "好吃到舔手指" (hǎo chī dào tiǎn shǒu zhǐ) = "so good you lick your fingers." That's EXACTLY the vibe. Finger-licking good fr fr. YakiniQ got me fighting for my life, unbuttoning my pants in the parking lot, and already planning my return. 10/10. No crumbs left. Their "Red Hot" peanut sauce is the carry here - no doubt. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards!

Horrible meat quality and even worse service quality…read more Imagine being first in line with a party of 2 and then watching a party of 3 and another party of 2 getting sat before you. Well we didn't need to imagine because we watched it happen in front of our faces. The party of 3 actually got their food and the other party of 2 got their side dishes before we even got our water. You literally have a Yelp waitlist to help you stay organized and all you have to do is follow it. Somehow they still managed to fuck that up. We got the premium AYCE--expecting some higher quality meat. We were deeply disappointed. The SF Cut Short rib was the saddest short rib I have ever seen. There was little to no meat on the bone. The ribeye was extremely thin. Not even a full minute of cooking on both sides and it was well done. At this point I turned the heat down to the lowest setting. The short rib bites were filled with tendons and ridiculously hard to cut much less chew. The boneless short rib and the ribeye caps were skinnier than a coke addict. 10 seconds on each side and they were basically well done. That was the end of round 1--I thought I was being hangry and grumpy so I tried to let them get their redemption. Hahaha or so I thought. We got the miso pork belly which somehow managed to burn itself on the side of the grill while the center part was still raw. I put two pieces on the grill. Clearly the meat cutter didn't know what they were doing because while one looked like it had cancer causing blackness on it the other one was still more raw than a dog. I guess they just can't cut the meat uniformly even. The beef tongue was also extremely thin and burned immediately when put on the grill. It's Korean BBQ--your restaurant and chefs don't even cook the meat. How can you not know how to cut meat properly? Not to mention paying extra for "premium" meat only to have the exact same quality as the rest of your meat. I would recommend this place to anybody who wants their Korean BBQ experience ruined. Honestly come here for your first or second time at Korean BBQ and then go somewhere else and you will be GLAD that the other place exists. YaqiniQ BBQ is by far the worst KBBQ I have been to.
