Finally got around to trying this place. Everything we ordered was delicious!! We started with the soup of the day which was red pepper soup. It was super smooth and had a good spice to it. We also got the spicy lamb sausage, which was so so good. Omg it was actually spicy and so flavorful definitely will be getting that again. For our mains we ordered the we ordered sol fish and the branzino. Both were so good, the branzino was so crispy and cooked to perfection. For dessert we ordered the cinnamon French toast. It was so so good. I had not had French toast in a long time so this was such a delicious dessert. I can't wait to come back here. Our service was great as well.

Great food! I've been coming here for years and the food is always wonderful. The staff that work here are so kind and always willing to help with whatever we need. The prices are also really great and quality of ingredients never disappoint. I've been here many times with friends, family, myself and will continue to visit. Also I don't have a photo but the French onion soup is so yummy and cheesy.

Chez Maman has some some good quality food. My only gripe was that the sauces was overly salted. The service tho was really good with refills and menu explanations. The atmosphere was pleasant given outdoor seating. The heater was cozy and I was able to watch sports tv from the bar next door. The mussels was plenty and fresh , with a great pairing of bread. The duck confit came with potato gratin and green beans.

I loved this place! The ambiance is lovely and the service is great. We started with a viognier wine and then the mussels. These were perfectly cooked and the white wine, garlic and lemon juice (with butter of course) was delightful. You have to pair this with fries! And Acme bread. The crepe was delicious. Perhaps it was very rich. I also tried the salmon crepe and this was very fresh and delicious. The capers paired perfectly. Overall, ambiance and service were great.

There's not too much that can go wrong with a burger. The portions for the fries were huge and the flavor was great on the burger. I didn't have that big of an appetite to try much else for appetizers or entrees. Maybe next time. The desserts are extremely sweet, more than I am used to. The things that knocked down some stars are weird particles in my beer that I noticed towards the end. My friend had the same beer with nothing. I've also had this beer many many times and there shouldn't be anything in it. There's also a lot of flies outside in the booths so it makes eating a bit annoying when you have to constantly swat around. The servers check up on you almost a little too much. By that I mean a different person coming up to the table to ask if you're done and when you say no, 5 min later, another comes up to ask the same thing. It felt like it was being rushed.

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 2:40 in the afternoon. They told us to come back in 20 minutes because they had just ended serving brunch and would be switching to the dinner menu. The place is in a cute neighborhood with a park nearby. We sat outdoors because the weather was so nice and sunny. Service was quick and the waiters were really attentive and came to fill up my water a couple times. Our food also came out pretty quickly. I got the pan seared petrale Sole entree and my friend got the duck. I really enjoyed the sole and ordered it because i wanted something light and our waiter said this was his favorite dish. It was tangy, fresh and buttery with a cauliflower puree that tasted really nutty. I would definitely get this again. The portion was pretty small but I did want something light. The duck dish seemed to be more hefty and my friend enjoyed it. She took half to go.

Love this gem in Hayes Valley, especially when there's no wait list. Table on the sidewalk is great for people watching. All food is good but I'm especially fond of the burger. Comes on ciabatta bun with everything on the side. Delicious. Service is fun and attentive.

I always come to Chez Maman for their moules and beef tartare. I love their thai style moules and frites, and their burgers are very solid. This location is on the smaller size, but I never had to wait that long to get a table.

The staff are wonderful and the pricing is reasonable. My favorite was the fries that I didn't take a picture of. Everything else was just ok. It isn't horrible, but not the best French food I've had.

This is a charming cozy place to get delicious food before or after a show. It's location is a walking distance to the ballet, the symphony, or the theater. They do not take reservations. You can add your name to a whiteboard when you get there. We got there late afternoon on a weekday before the rush and got seated by the window. The French Onion Soup was rich and I was glad I shared it with my daughter. The Moule Marinieri was delicious. It's a generous serving of fresh mussels steamed in a savory broth of white wine, butter, shallots, garlic, lemon juice and parsley. One has to have this with frites which they make really well here and is served with aioli. If you are down for more carbs, get their Acme French baguette to soak up the delightful marinieri broth! We decided to share the Grilled New York Prime Steak and asked our waiter if we can substitute the side of fries for brussel sprouts and he said he would. Unfortunately, the order still came with fries and by that time the place was hopping and we could not get our waiter's attention. We did not want the steak to get cold so we just started sharing the dish. The sumptious perfectly seasoned tender steak made up for the abundance of frites LOL. One other thing that was missing were two smaller plates since our waiter knew we were sharing the steak. Anyway, my daughter and I made do. Food was great and we were too full to get dessert. It was perfect that we were walking to the theater after our meal. I will certainly be back for a delightful meal in this charming neighborhood close to the theater.

Was super excited to try the dishes here, but was slightly let down given the prices. The beef tartare was by far my favorite dish. I got the soup of the day (cream of artichoke) but it was extremely salty so I had trouble finishing it. The mussels I was excited for, but they turned out to have quite small meat and grit inside them. The service was very sweet though. We waited around 30 min walking in on a Tuesday night with a party of 5.

This cute restaurant is located in Hayes Valley and the pure aesthetics is what drew me here! I always wanted a similar experience from my last visit to France minus the traveling. I was fortunate to come here on Friday night as a walk-in. My server was friendly. The menu was not extensive so I had to do research to figure out what I wanted. A lot of people here seem to love their French Onion Soup, Escargot, and Mussels with White Wine Sauce. I got the Petrale Sole Menuiere and it was seasoned well. I think the amount of food can be enough, but maybe not for some people. Complimentary bread would be nice. Love the homey and cozy vibe overall, but unsure if I would come back here since it is quite expensive.

Butternut Squash Soup (soup of the day) Delicious!

Small restaurant with outdoor heated seating. Everything we ordered was just delicious. Service was fine, the server allowed us to eat and enjoy our meal without rushing us or overly checking in. Overall, a lovely place to lunch. I'm looking forward to returning to try a few more dishes on the menu. No complaints!

Ask the Community - Chez Maman West

What's the average wait time for a party of 4 on Sundays between 5- 530pm?

Depends on what Dayan time you want to go. I would recommend making reservations.

    Do Chez Maman take reservations?

No they do not. I usually go for an early lunch on weekdays or weekends and haven't had to wait. It usually is pretty full by the time I'm finished.

    Is there parking nearby?

There used to be parking. The city has pulled nearly all of it out of this area. It is sad. They think the 500,000 daily visitors to SF will ride a bicycle.

Till what time is brunch available every day?

    Usually when brunch ends.

Are you guys open? I came here a couple days ago hoping to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday but sadly both locations were closed.

    Yes why wouldn't they be.

How long a wait for two on Saturday night at 5:30?

There was never a problem getting seats. First time, we had party of 4 and checked in approximately 5pm. We didn't wait long. Second time, we didn't want to wait so we got seats at the bar for party of 2.

Are they open on Christmas this year?

    Yes.

    Do you take Reservations?

No reservations - walk in only

    Are reservations suggested?

    By whom.

During brunch hours, is the full menu also available or is the brunch menu only available (i.e. would I be able to order the duck confit during brunch)? And what is the general wait time to be seated on the weekends around noon?

All menus are available. Waiting time around 30mins or so.

    Are you open on Monday?

Yes, we are open 7 Days a week. See you soon.

Can you sit and eat here?

    No.

What is the wait time for 6 people on a Wednesday at 5:00PM?

During the holidays it will be a long wait, otherwise, it may be 10-15 minutes.

How's Sunday at 7 for getting a table?

Should not be a wait more than 10 to 15 minutes on a Sunday evening at 7.

Is there a happy hour menu for food/drinks?

Hi there, We serve a regular menu throughout the day. No happy hour menu.…

Would there be much of a wait on Thursday at 9:30?

Usually the wait on a Thursday night around 9:30 is not more than 10 to 15 minutes. See you soon. Thank you.

Do you have any vegan options?

    No why would they.

Are the French fries vegetarian (i.e., are they fried in a plant-based oil?)

    No.

How long is the wait for a table of 4 on a Friday 6 pm?

    Go and see.

When is it a good time to arrive with 6+ people on a Saturday evening and get a table for sure? What would the waiting time look like?

Hi Gabrielle, You're looking at around 30 minute wait, depending on how busy it gets. We don't take…

Before the meal started, we were served a small cup of corn soup. It was so intensely corny in the best way possible. It's sweet, creamy, and comforting. Loved it. The mackerel was delicious. The skin had this rich, gelatinous texture that I personally loved, and the flavors were super satisfying. The only dish that was a little disappointing was the pork ballotine. It looked incredibly tender and juicy, but it ended up being a bit drier than I expected. Dessert was definitely the highlight of the meal. I had never tried chamomile ice cream before, and it was such a pleasant surprise. Now it's sixteen years later. After an early start to a Sunday Valkyries game, my friend brought us here for a post game dinner. After finding a parking space a block away, we walked up a little after 6:30 pm. When I reached the entrance, I noticed the sketch board and wrote my name below the names and guest numbers already there. When I asked the hostess, she told me it was likely a twenty to thirty minute wait. The dining room was packed as well as the sidewalk tables and outdoor dining structure. Being hungry and antsy, I walked the various tables to observe the service progression to estimate when we'd be seated. About 35 minutes later, we were seated at the sidewalk table next to the entrance and given menus. It's been a while so a menu study was needed. After some discussion, we decided on our meals and agreed to share bites of each other's food. First came the Acme French baguette and butter (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=b_xeRM764lejQiCnELp7OA), a necessary vehicle to sop any gravy or sauce. Two of us had the French onion soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=rJ9tQeC9Al9A0yCiHnA3Fw); it was as I remember, hearty broth chocked with tasty onions with gooey stretchy cheese underneath a nicely browned top. Their staple is consistent with what I remember. My friend ordered the Les Moules 24, poulette (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=ZgxJSrYmiEuwipp8uvkJHA), garlic, shallots, bacon, white wine, cream, parsley; the mussels were good, most if not all opened shells in a variety of sizes. The sauce or broth is the key especially with the baguette slices to enjoy the delicious flavors. For my main meal, i had the pork chop (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=tk0gypyufB2AL0olq-KPHA), Brussels sprouts, bacon, apple cider mustard sauce, suggested and cooked medium; I really enjoyed this as it had a nice outside sear while the meat was tender and still juicy after I cut in. The flavors from the accompaniments paired well and the portions were generous. In fact, a fellow diner mostly ate the accompaniments as our shared format in trying the other dishes filled my tummy. I tried a few bites of my friend's roasted duck confit, French fries (subbed from potatoes gratin), haricot vert, port reduction; sorry, no photo as this disappeared relatively quickly; the duck was tender and fork tender with a smoky flavor as it came right off the bone. I also tried another diner's fettucine, creamy white wine sauce, mushrooms (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=X5em6PctUtXUbiuM7uLmPg); the balance of sauce to pasta was perfect and you know me and mushrooms. It was tasty and is definitely hearty, portions and taste wise. As we dined, more diners added their names to the wait list until there were only two names left when we left around 8:30 pm. The guests were a mix of neighborhood locals and sports fans who came from events since Chase Center and Oracle Park are nearby. I saw a table with guys wearing Giants and Braves jerseys. Thanks to J. Garen who waited on our table and the bus staff who cleared empty plates and bowls and refilled out water glasses. Big thanks for Naomi, the hostess, who kept all waiting guests updated and kept a watchful eye to make sure the tables turn efficiently. As we left, we greeted waiting guests in Valkyries jerseys and we briefly talked about the game and, of course, gave our "Go Valks" cheer. Looking forward to our next meal here.

We have tried all sorts of dishes and our selections rarely miss the mark. The choose-your-own adventure style of the menu is perfect for couples who like to sample multiple things. Favorites include the glazed oysters, branzini fish, filet of beef. Absolutely must try the chocolate soufflé. I am partial to the cheese cart but could skip this if you're not super hungry as the timing of this is right before the rest of desserts come, and you will definitely need to leave some room. The take-home treat for the morning is such a special and appreciated touch. This SF institution is one of the greats.

My favorite thing about this restaurant is how they do their tasting menu. 1) not everyone in your party has to order the same amount of dishes. They will time the dishes as best as they can so no one is sitting there awkwardly without food in front of them. 2) there's no real structure to the tasting menu. You can order all main courses or all desserts, it's up to you! I usually do 1 started, 1 seafood, and 1 meat dish and I'm stuffed. We usually have one person order one more course so we can all share a dessert. But if you don't have a strong sweet tooth, they do give small complementary dessert bites at the end. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully! The staff was attentive and the vibe of the restaurant felt elegant without trying too hard.

LOVED Cote Ouest Bistro!!!…read more I can sum it up in ONE SENTENCE: EVERYONE (from customers to staff) was happy to be here! The place was full of people happy to be eating in a bistro that feels welcoming and comfortable...especially with a nice outdoor patio set up with music at the perfect volume to enjoy good food and good conversation... ...and the staff seemed happy as well, as if they were inviting you into their home. It really was as if friends were pouring you wine and serving you food straight from the heart. SPEAKING OF FOOD... just fantastic French fare! Everything you love, from Onion Soup to Duck Confit can be found on the menu. I went for the Serrano Ham, Oeufs Mayonnaise, and the Steak Frites and devoured every bite between sips of Rosé. I try to eat low carb but couldn't resist their (free) bread service... which I complimented, and got the following reaction, "Want more?" It was an offer I couldn't refuse! Ended the meal in the perfect way with Creme Brûlée then walked off into the night with my wallet none too worse for wear. Vive le Cote Ouest Bistro!!!

The lady servicing water kept coming to do refills - without me asking - that's incredible service for a small place with limited staff. The duck confit exceeded my expectations. I loved the bread and butter. The Salmon was rare and very tasty . The cauliflower was well flavored and mixed very well with the other ingredients. We didn't have enough room for dessert - I will come back to try the French onion soup and mussels in white wine.

The French cuisine is still featured, but there is a new sign and awning for TD. As well as the delicious new food! I have lived on the 500 block for 16 years and this is an amazing add to the neighborhood. We've never had our own authentic taqueria this close. And I can tell you that the tortillas here are LEGIT. On to the experience. The staff is awesome, you will be well attended here. You can order at the register, but there is full wait service. The interior retains the French look, and has added some Mexican touches. There is a parklet outside. In the dining room, there are large open windows with bar seating. A true indoor / outdoor spot. On to the food. I got the Al Pastor tacos, which are traditional street style, though they were nice enough to add cheese to the tortillas. Red and green salsa on the side, and I'm told they're looking into a spicy sauce as well. Open on Friday and Saturday until Midnight. Check www.divistaqueria.com for their weekly hours and menu. Directly across the street from both Emporium and Independent on Divis. And a delicious lunch if you're in NOPA. Place will blow up and couldn't happen to better people. The server sat us down and gave us menus right away with ice waters. The interior was nice and cozy with French music and decor. We shared both the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Champagnarde Galette and both were wonderful. The presentation on both were elegant and appetizing. The flavors and textured worked well in both dishes and the portions were satisfying. My boyfriend also ordered a glass of wine he enjoyed. I would love to come back and try their different dishes as I had a hard time decided since everything sounded so delicious! Great dinner spot, felt like a mini getaway.

This was a decadent, sweet and savory corn soup topped with popcorn that offered a nice textural contrast. This featured crisp cherry tomatoes and herbs on a bed of creamy risotto, which contrasted well with the sunflower seed topping. - Steak: Deliciously seared and seasoned.
