I almost don't want to recommend this place because it's so wonderful and I can still get a seat when I want to have some breakfast. I am very picky about my eggs and when I ask for scrambled eggs I don't mean browned and overcooked eggs, I mean light and fluffy scrambled eggs. Ps and qs cooked my eggs perfectly. Every time! There sourdough toast is real chewy and sour and they have this honey butter that they make in-house that is unbelievable. I'm a bacon and egg sky but they have some other really cool menu items... So, as much as I don't want to, you definitely want to try this place for a nice breakfast. I was so pleasantly surprised with this spot for weekend brunch. If you follow my reviews, you know I love a latte and they don't serve lattes but when they do, they can get all five stars. I had the hash special, which was amazing! Wonderful staff to bring it all home. As a bonus, you can pick up a couple market items on your way out. We ate inside, which was cozy, but enough room that you felt like you had your own space. I do have to add that they may have the best biscuit In all of Portland! I ordered a takeout blackened Alaskan cod sandwich with apple juice for lunch here - an excellent choice, by the way. The blackened seasoning and hot fish were balanced out perfectly by the tart slaw and pillowy potato bun. I didn't have much time that day to go souvenir shopping but they sold cute quirky locally-designed stickers in a basket next to the register so I got to pick something that felt perfect for my recipient. A very charming place. I ordered the jerk chicken over rice, which includes 2 sides. I picked mac and cheese and cornbread. I have to say the jerk chicken was amazingly juicy, and the jerk taste was not too overwhelming but balanced with the chicken quite nicely. Both sides were also made to perfection. Location is cool, as it's a classic NE Portland renovated mini-mart that we used to frequent in our NE Portland youth. This doubles as unique and eclectic market with some great choices and beverages. The menu choices are cool, and we missed brunch on the day we went. I went with the brisket platter which was solid. The sides were good, yet the brisket could've been a little more tender and juicy. I was satisfied, but I've definitely had a little better brisket. Great community location. So finally getting around to saying how great this place is. I have only been able to come in for breakfast/lunch. I think i missed the days when they served dinner pre covid. All our visits have been great with the most excellent food and still reasonable prices especially considering the quality of ingredients they use. Our last visit we were sitting in back tables and could see most of the stock, all high end good stuff. And now they have recently changed to table service so we don't have to be rushed to decide at the counter, very happy with that. Now that i remember we have had one dud here and that is the hash browns. This must be the only thing that is not made in house, just the typical frozen thing like you would get in a fast food place. I would say skip that if you can, just not worth it. I am thinking there is just not room on the grill to be doing good hash. read more

Solid spot for some sandwiches. The interior is a casual deli cafe setting with some drinks and potato salad and other odds and ends available to go. The Brisket Sandwich and Cubano were both excellent, especially the cubano. They put some mustard in there that really made everything pop and the ciabatta bun stayed crispy and firm despite the onslaught of juices as I chowed (I didn't give it enough time to get soggy anyway). The fried chicken however was quite disappointing. Just a couple pretty skimpy pieces with pretty thin and greasy breading. Would definitely go for sandwiches over plates. A tad on the pricey side but tasty. read more

I love P's and Q's and they deserve 5 stars...sometimes, that is. This is the most unpredictible place I have ever been to. I come about once a month, and I'd say that about every 1 in 4 times, I will walk out super impressed. Most of the time its just fine. And you think I'd learn my lesson after having such consistently forgettable experiences, but those off-chance great experiences are truly great. P's and Q's, at its best, is my favorite Italian sandwich in Portland, hands down. On P's and Q's bad days (which is most of the time) they're out of brisket, their hours are different than what is listed online, their sandwiches are prepared wildly inconsistent from day to day, and they just generally act like customers don't exist. So. Gave Ps and Qs another shot with a mobile pickup order today. Didn't think it'd be as bad as it was. I came in 5 minutes before my order was supposed to be ready and just wanted to let them know I was there so they knew. Ended up picking up some ice cream sandwiches as well. The staff was really unpleasant to me during the whole exchange. No greeting whatsoever the first time I checked in. Then after I came back in 10 minutes after my estimated pickup time, he saw me and quickly rushed and grabbed my sandwich that had been clearly sitting in the food window the whole time. The staff here is rude, you get bad looks and sub-par food for a high price. I'm done with Ps and qs, they've never been kind to me - I always greet them and tip, but somehow they just can't find it in themselves to be decent to their customers. A crappy place at best, they should be ashamed. And maybe focus more on having your employees fake a smile like every other restaurant staff. read more

Was in town for a Pickles baseball game and came across this place on Yelp so we gave it a try. We tried the Polenta sandwich and the smoked brisket sandwich. Both were fantastic! EXCELLENT FARE. Just excellent. We ordered takeout last night and got: - Deviled Eggs - they don't really look like anything special, but the flavor is great! I think it's mostly because of the mustard they put in the filling, and they're fresh (must be fresh eggs!). Paprika is always a nice touch. - Dirty Fries with BBQ Brisket - DAMN. First of all, loved the fresh cut fries. Best I've had in awhile (I'm sick of oily, old fries elsewhere, man). The cilantro slaw was a little dry, but flavor was on point (definitely cilantro!). In the dry defense, I think the whole dish would have been soggy if the slaw was any wetter since there was BBQ sauce on the brisket. The tender cubes of brisket were good and plentiful, too! - Chicken Salad Sammy - I was a little skeptical when taking this home since it was so tiny, yet cost me $12. I was pleasantly surprised to find a healthy helping of chicken salad on the burger-like potato bun. This was probably my favorite, but it's hard to decide between the three. The vinaigrette in the chicken salad was genius and AMAZING. The fresh greens and bun were perfect for what was going on. It was all filling, too, so no complaints here. Came here just to say BRING BACK THE POLENTA FRIES. The best iteration of this food I've come across. The dirty fries are also incredible, the cheese sauce really satisfies a craving like no other. Highly recommend the mac & cheese & the veggie bowl too. Lots of delicious options, you'd have a hard time going wrong. We have LOVED P's & Q's for years, and still do! It's has tons to offer as a quirky, community-oriented neighborhood restaurant and market. Very fair prices, as well as (seemingly) fair wages for staff, and GREAT food! They've only gotten better over the years -- notably with the addition and continuous improvement of the huge outdoor patio. We were a bit nervous once new owners (or just new chefs?) came in recently -- and we did grieve the loss of the Kale Caesar -- but they've kept most of what made the menu awesome, and then added even more to love. We're moving back across country, and can only hope we'd be fortunate enough to find another close-by neighborly spot like it. read more

What a cute hidden gem. Their outdoor patio is perfect for those summer mornings/afternoons. There are picnic tables and some with umbrellas. They have QR codes where you can order at your connivence. That is really nice because you don't feel rushed. I enjoyed a Bloody Mary and the breast burrito. Both were great. When I walked in, I knew I was no longer in NYC. This market is amazing and has the amazing mom and pop feel to it, with the focus being authentic. Great menu you for lunch... I just get like I was in someone's oversized kitchen, getting a freshly mad lunch... Authentic ingredients!! Everything fresh!! I had the sandwich of the day which was a roasted turkey chimichurri sauce. The sandwich was amazing, the greens where fresh, the turkey fresh just awesome... I also got the brisket nasty fries (I think I butchered the name lol). WOW The fries where cooked perfectly, was able to stay crispy even with the bbq sauce and coleslaw sauce seeping in. The brisket was cooked perfectly with an amazing smoke ring to it, tender and juicy with tons of flavor. The light bbq keeps the brisket as the main attraction without overpowering it. The coleslaw paired perfectly and provided that cold crunch factor... all in all it was freaking amazing!!! Def check this place out and enjoy some quality eats. read more

I came here as a follow up to watching a show on the Food Network, as most have. It is for sure a cool little store with amazing food. I happened to be in Portland with a good friend who is always up for a new food adventure. We walked in and it was very nice atmosphere. We ordered at the counter and sat down to be served. I ordered the eggplant sandwhich with pickled beets, feta cheese, and of course, eggplant. It was served on the most delicious ciabatta bun. I am always trying to eat the vegetarian options and this did not let me down. My friend got the griddled beef sandwhich, also served on a ciabatta bun. We both had FF, which were shoestring style and perfectly salted, in my opinion. I do want to go back and try their famous breakfast anytime sandwhich. Now what made this place extra special to me was the amazing customer service. The location is in a neighborhood and off the beaten path. So I imagine it the locals may get tired of the new found populartity this place has which brings more people/tourists to thier neighborhood. Now, I did not feel judged at all! And I unintentionally tested this when I ordered an apple cider on tap which I did not like. I tried a few sips and it just wasn't to my taste at all. I hardly ever return drinks, but I did this time. The girl at the counter was so nice! And suggested their house wine which she even let me tast before committing to a glass. And she covered the difference in cost without me asking! As far as the market part of this place goes, it is pretty small. But I did find some yummy organic Ramen and purchased a bottle of affordable pink sparkling wine. Next time I am in Portland, I will be back! read more
