Best meal we had our entire trip! Stopped here before our flight and wish we would have eaten here all week. The Bomb could have fed all 4 of us - it's huge and tasty. The food was very delicious. There was quite a wait for the food but the server did let us know first hand before we ordered since there was a backup in the kitchen. The kids loved the fluffy pancakes. The breakfast burritos was huge so I only ate half. The french toast was nice and crispy outside and moist inside. Stopped here for breakfast after landing in Lihue. There's a limited amount of options for breakfast and with other popular places around, we were looking for a place to accommodate 12 people! It's on a gorgeous golf course and it's small, but it's air conditioned which is much appreciated! They were able to seat all of us together. Service was attentive and the food was delicious. If there was a wait, I wouldn't even mind because the view is so unbelievable! We will definitely be back again next time we're in Lihue! read more

Alright...what a hidden gem! Our group of 4 were about to leave the course and came back to the restaurant because we were so hungry. What a pleasant surprise and great decision! An Ahi Poke bowl, a sweet bread grilled cheese, a turkey chiabatta sandwich, house chips, and a ginger chicken salad! Great sauces, fresh, portion sizes, and flavor. But wait...great prices! The staff is super friendly, patient (because you need a minute to look at ALL the options to choose from), and quick to serve. Great Job you all!! The restaurant is clean and spacious. Both of us ordered the loco moco (full portion) and couldn't agree more with the ratings for this dish as well as the friendly service overall. This grill is located at the Puakea golf course so the atmosphere is casual and friendly in our experience. If you're in the area I recommend trying them out! This place is largely in the middle of a golf course, in a white trailer like building. We were hoping for brunch but the breakfast menu ends at 10:30am. We stayed for lunch though. When you walk in you review the menu on two screens, then you order and pay. The restaurant wasn't half full while we were there. I ordered the mini puakea chips, the catch of the day entree which was mahi-mahi and passion orange guava juice. My partner got the Loco Moco with gravy. Note the online menu is different then in restaurant for the Loco Moco, the eggs, gravy and salad are noted as extras for $2.50 each in the restaurant. We read review prior to coming to restaurant and can confirm there is a long wait between ordering food and getting the food. We waited for over 30-40 minutes. However, we read that might be the case so we had a quick snack before heading to the restaurant, so it didn't bother us. Highly recommend dint going if you are or getting close to being hangry. For my food, the mahi-mahi was cooked well and had capers, lemon glaze and. A fresh cut lemon on top. It also came with an interesting version of macaroni salad (it may have been made with angel hair pasta) and white rice. To me everything was cooked well and had a great blend of flavors. My partner indicated that the Pattie's had onion in them and it gave a nice mix of flavor to the gravely and rice. They also indicated it reminded them of salisbury steak. They ordered a side of macaroni salad but didn't care for it, so I ate it. The puakea chips were served with our meal instead of prior to meal. They were good chips, but I think it would've been better if served while you're waiting for your entree. The juice was good, but average from around the island. I believe it comes from a can. We felt the food was great but not amazing. We fully understand why there is a wait and it's not for everyone. There are also fly traps on the windows and we had several flies just buzzing around us. Bugs happen, especially in spring/summer times but wasn't ideal. To be frank I would rank our experience at 4.5, but because I can't do a half I left it at a four. The prices were average. Our total bill was $55.11, which included two entrees, 1-side add-on, 1 juice drink, 1-appetizer, taxes and tip. We really wanted to try the breakfast, maybe another time. read more

Disappointed in the wait time for food i understand everyone is short staffed but i would of been happier if i had a little more accurate wait time for food quoted. I was told the wait for food is a half hour. Which we were fine with we had an hr and a half till we had to be somewhere. An hour went by and i asked if i could switch my food to togo she said sure. Total wait time for food from ordering it was an 1 hour and 18 minutes. I feel bad they are so short staffed i just wish i got quoted an accurate time for food. They make the food fresh so you will wait a few minutes but it's worth the wait. The people are friendly and work hard to get your order just right. It appears that the locals (retired) love it here. We came here on a weekend morning around 9:30 am. It took awhile for someone to take our order at the front. By the time they took it, she said that it would take over 30 minutes to get our food. I thought that was a bit long but we said it was fine. Fast forward to 1 hour, we still had no food. When we asked them how long it would take, they said there were 2 orders ahead of us. However, there were 5 tables occupied in the restraint. It meant that for most of the hour we were sitting there they were working on to-go orders. I saw large boxes of food carried by staff and so I'm assuming that they were prepping orders for the golf course. It's unfortunate that they seem to prioritize other orders than the ones in the restaurant. I am giving one star because they at least filled our water cups and coffee during our wait. When we were last on the island in 2019 before the pandemic hit, we had gone to eat our favorite noodle dish in Kauai, Frank's Noodles, at the Puakea Grill, which was a WWII style Quonset hut adjacent to a similar building housing the small Golf shop. The buildings were nothing much to look at, somewhat drab and old, but the food at the Grill, especially the Noodles, was always spot on. It was always a must go to eating spot for us when visiting During the pandemic, I read that the course had shut down, and I sadly assumed it might never reopen. That said, we were delighted to learn that the golf course reopened a few months ago, so when we returned to Kauai at last this week we made sure to go for a noodle breakfast at The Grill. What a surprise! The Grill building has been completely renovated, repainted, new windows, outdoor seating, new signage, new air conditioning. Additionally, a new chef, Chef Kristin Yanagawa from fancy restaurant JO2 in Kapa'a, reimagined the menu, making the dishes more attractive, and in the case of the reinvented Fried Noodles, even tastier than before, loaded with goodies including Spam, Char Siu, Bacon, Lup Chong, Kamaboko, and veggies. All the dishes we saw brought out were similarly impressive, including pancakes, Loco Moco, and a huge breakfast burrito. And our flavored iced tea was to die for, so much so that we ordered a second round to go! Our go to favorite is now even more go to! So highly recommended. read more

Tasty food! Very good authentic delish. Stuffed french toast with blueberries was amazing. Although, I didnt care for the green herb they used-possibly mint but Im not sure at all. Food took 45 min to arrive. They "had a lot of to go orders ahead of us." My only complaint was if I walked straight up to register to order as if I am next in line, please inform me that you have LOTS of orders ahead of us so I could walk away if I dont have time. Staff tried very hard to please everyone but they had to move so fast that it created a tense environment. A restaurant at a golf course should be classy but this is more like a cafeteria or fast diner. I recommend improve communication and ambience to match to good food. Portion sizes were great.
