AWWWWWW I SOOO WANTED TO GIVE 4 STARS! When I lived in the western suburbs, I visited Pub 42 a handful of times, during different days of the week and at different times (Happy hour, late night). I ... wish I could say something more positive, and am also cognizant that employment around the service industry as been patchy, at the least, of late. Thank you, COVID. Here is the quick summary low-down: The food is actually very very good. Soup, steak, appetizers and drinks. The service? Slow, slow slow slow slow. The majority of times, I had to wait to ask for water, let alone put in a drink order, or a food order. Once a food order was put in, I had to wait a good 20 minutes average for the first appetizer, if I ordered one, and another 15 minutes after the arrival of appetizer to enjoy the entree. And could I enjoy the entree? Sometimes. Often, the kitchen messed up the temperature of the steak, delivered a salad that was obviously accidentally left under the heat lamps before being served, or gave me the wrong entree altogether. Again, I try to give grace in this period of time to how difficult life has been, especially for the restaurant and service industry. Okay, the food. The popovers are AMAZING. And, honestly, every server had apologized profusely for the delay, which makes me understand that they know that service is slow. The popovers are...OMG...I have since moved and traveled to this Pub to eat nomnom popovers that are crispy on the outside, with a fluffy, cheesy, slight sweetness melting on the inside. The steaks come out as you asked (except for the one time I asked for rare and it came back medium/well done, but they rectified the issue quickly!). Had the bone-in Rib Eye and prime rib and both were great. The buffalo wings are delish. French Onion soup has a great depth of flavor and complexity with melty, umami cheese ontop, and the flavor does not come from being overly salted. Drinks are strong and not expensive. Honestly, I'd bring out of town guests here for the popovers alone! read more

My husband and I have lived in Plymouth for 31 years and I was given a $50 birthday certificate to Pub 42. So tonight (Sunday night, June 29th at 6:30pm) we went to Pub 42 to use my gift card. It was definitely the worst dining experience we have ever had. Here are the key points: We had to ask Jeff, the bartender if he would take our order. It seems like he was talking to several of the "regulars" sitting at the bar and not paying attention to "new customers." The bartender (female) with the red hair pieces....said the "F" word several times and never even blinked an eye that customers were sitting and dining at the bar. Things like "I am F-ing starving" and "I F-ing love him." She also said to Jeff, "it is all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits. At one point, the African American male who was at the hostess desk came into the bar area and the girl with the dyed hair - they both screamed loudly together and then the male left the bar area. The outside bartender came into the inside bar and said: "It is F-ing hot out there." The service was horrible. The bill was printed out and we were overcharged by $15. When we told the male bartender that....he did not even apologize! (this was not Jeff, but some other bartender) Honestly, everything that went wrong - went REALLY wrong!!! It was the worst experience we can ever recall having and I was really excited to try something new. We cannot in our right minds ever refer someone to go to Pub42. The Sunshine Factory would never ever have employees who act so disgusting in a restaurant environment. Thank you for reading this. On a positive note, the food was great! We had a Blu burger and cheese curds. So you might want to really take care of your internal staff at the bar so "new customers" want to come back. read more

The best deal is on Monday's, burger & a pint night. Comes with a side, and if you don't want a beer you can choose a rail drink or a non-alcoholic beverage all for $11.95! The burgers are large and comes with plenty of fries. This burger has big crispy slices of bacon and their lemon aioli makes it nice and juicy. read more

I have been to Pub 42 many times either by myself or with a party up adds of 6 people. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. We have had the pleasure of having Riley and Iza as our servers on many occasions and I can't stress how kind and accommodating both of them are, I have celiac disease and they are knowledgeable about the ingredients and the process of the food so that I am safe when eating there. Including the double checking and making sure that my food is gluten free, and with very limited chance of cross contamination. Both do a great job of making sure the food is good and arrives at an appropriate time, while being friendly and kind and connecting with us as patrons. I would recommend pub 42 to anyone and everyone and tell them to request being seated in either Riley or Iza's section to guarantee them the best of service available. read more

Terrible service and disappointing food. Used to be a favorite of ours was, but no more! Server Nancy was rude ( one of many examples is we waited for our bill for more than 20 minutes, stood up to get someone to notice, and finally all went to the front to flag down someone to pay! When Nancy showed up, she didn't speak, much less apologize. When we asked for water with the meals, she brought one glass for four of us, and never checked back. I've been to Pub 42 plenty of times, mostly just for a vodka soda (it's a great spot for a quick drink) but I have tried a good amount of the food items too! Tried the French onion soup the previous time I went and it was awesome! (I ordered it the time before that but it never made it to me sadly.) The hot chicken and dill flatbread is also delicious. I probably wouldn't go here if I was in a hurry as none of the staff seems to ever be. Tacos were not my favorite but only $2.50 on Tuesdays so can't really be picky about that. They have a nice big patio and also an outdoor bar which is great! I think they might have a wasp nest on their roof out there though because there were quite a few flying around. read more

I'm a big fan of Pub 42. It is a staple of New Hope and I'd bet it is widely considered the best bar in the area/city. The Pub can meet the needs of any party with a sit down restaurant side, a sports bar area, and the outdoor patio. While I really like the burgers here... They have a cajun pasta on the menu so that is my go to. It is really good! Warning - you have to be clear with how you order this item because they have a fettuccini alfredo and a cajun fettuccini. They make a cajun pasta dish that still uses a tomato/rosa sauce base. It was NOT for me and I had to reorder to get the dish with the alfredo sauce base. read more

Went to the Mothers Day Brunch with my kiddo because it was one of the cheapest buffets around. The buffet was decent and we were seated quickly even though we didn't have a reservation. They filled everything quickly and efficiently on the buffet line. The only things that bothered me was my coffee wasn't refilled at all and the dessert table was no where near the other buffet items. read more

Frequent Pub42 several times a year. Been a couple of months since we last were there. Always had a decent meal. This last visit decided to try the French Dip and was an extremely poor choice. Meat was cut thick and had lots of fat. Threw away half of the sandwich. Tried to pick through it and salvage the sandwich, but not happening. Fries that came with the sandwich were good. Fellow diner at our table sent her entree back because the mashed potatoes were cold. read more

Pub 42 is a great neighborhood spot in New Hope, and has something on the menu for everyone. They have a quieter seating area, large bar, and and even larger patio space with big tables that can accomodate large parties. I ordered the fish tacos and they were pretty good! The shrimp were breaded and flavorful, and the slaw and sauce offset the gentle spice. After comparing the other dishes at our table and around the patio, I recommend ordering classic American fare like their burgers and sandwiches over their tacos or asian dishes. The burgers seemed above average while the tacos and noodles bowls didn't quite hit the mark! read more

Food here is 10/10! Highly recommend. My favorite is the millionaires BLT, the bacon is to die for. They also have a great happy hour! Service is always great and a nice, chill bar vibe. Let me start by saying I never write negative reviews. I love to write great reviews so patrons can help the restaurant flourish. That being said, my husband and I have been to Pub 42 hundreds of times (since it was Sunshine Factory back in the day). It's been one of our favs in terms of friendliness, good food and cold beer). Although we missed Wags after the ownership change we were excited to give the new owners a new start. We have been here about 8 times since with varying results. Bar service is always quick and friendly but the food quality has decreased. The visit this last Sunday (6/18/24) cemented the decision that we will NEVER return. We enjoyed draft beers and then ordered burgers. You used to be to able to count on the burgers here! They were delicious. This time... not only was the burger (and subsequent re-try) inedible, along with the cold fries both times, the manager could have cared less. Our sweet server told us many people had sent back food that day. So perhaps it was a bad day for the kitchen? Wish the manager could have taken feedback about the decrease in food quality instead of arguing that the food quality and recipes had remained the same. We used to buy to go containers of the bleu cheese dressing for friends and now you can't find a piece of bleu cheese in the dressing. Buns are stale and the burgers are tiny and the meat is definitely lower quality. One bite was all it took. read more

Disappointed first experience. Our order was missing the seasoned sour creams which was an extra cost and the burger was basically raw ground beef. Serious health risk for food poisoning.... but the curds and BLT were good and safe to eat. LOL Just like the other reviewer called Pub 42 and got a lack of concern with getting a raw burger. Bryce just said, "ok you'll have to call Door Dash to refund the missing items and burger." Fortunately Door Dash was able to refund the burger and seasoned sour creams right away. I had a party of 12 for a get together with friends, and this place was wonderful! They put us in a semi-private space and we got super great service. Those deviled eggs are spectacular and everyone was happy with their meals. I wish we took photos of the food, but we were so happy to see each other, the only photos we took were of our group. My bad! I do want to tell you how great our service was though. We all ordered something different, and a few folks showed up a little late. Our server was so great! She kept us in drinks, brought the appetizers quickly, kept coming back to check on us and on whomever just arrived, and even split our checks up how we wanted to pay. Went here Easter weekend with our son and really enjoyed the stop. It was very busy, so we at first didn't think we had time to stay - but they ended up finding us a table to eat at the bar. The tap beer, drink and food selections were good and the place was very lively - with some great country music playing in the background. We started with an order of popovers since we hadn't had any for a while and absolutely loved the butter that came with them. We ended up all ordering the Fish Special for Friday after hearing that it was walleye (see picture) and all really liked the meal. Pub 42 has quickly become one of our go-to spots! They have great happy hour deals & a menu full of meals we're excited to try. My favorite so far is the Millionaires BLT. The patio has great vibes on a sunny afternoon, and it still feels private even though it's right off a fairly busy road. Service can be on the slower side when the restaurant is super busy, but that's to be expected of any place. We've always had friendly service even when it's slower though! When the hostess asks if you'd like to sit in the bar side or dining room, we'd recommend the bar side! Dining room is nice, but the bar has a fun atmosphere. read more

If I am craving wings and don't wanna drive far from home this is always my go to! My favorite are the char-grilled and then sometimes I will toss in the asian glaze. This is a great place to meet friends for a bite and some drinks. I recently visited and had a great time. I got the Foghorn Leghorn Crispy Chicken Sandwhich which was on the speiclas menu. You can get this as a single or double breasted sanwhich, that is coated with their chicken tender batter & fried. They top it with American cheese, bacon, shredded lettuce & mayo. I went single breast. You also get your choice of side with this tasty Sandwhich! It was so crispy and golden! I really enjoyed how juicy this sandwhich was as well. Pub 42 This was my second time to have lunch here. The food is supposed to be good here. I ordered the Old Fashioned Pub burger. Medium. With fries. Fries were ok. Not great not bad. Standard. Burger was picture perfect. Stacked nicely, bun was very good, close to being one of the best. Beef as perfectly cooked to medium. But here I come... the beef patty was tasteless. No salt, pepper or ANY seasoning. It was like chewing wet paper towel... ZERO flavor. What a shame. Next time I will order the same but I will ask to have it seasoned. It's alrighty. It's a nice local spot with decent food, pull tabs, and there was even live music. I had a strawberry margarita. It was overly sweet, and rimmed with sugar. The popovers came out a bit late, so I think they had gotten a little cold. The sweet honey butter they came with was their redeeming quality. As an entree I had the prime rib sandwich. The popovers themselves were super good and baked to perfection! However, the butter was a little disappointing. I ordered the Caesar salad and it was perfection! We have recently moved to Plymouth and have been to Pub 42 a few times now. I have to admit that this is one of my favorite restaurants! The wait staff is friendly and perfectly attentive, the drinks are tasty, and the food is always delicious! Appetizers and entrees offer huge portions - we always go home with a doggie bag.
