I stopped by this Asian restaurant recently since we knew it has a good happy hour and we've had a great experience in the past. Well not this time. We were greeted and seated immediately but our server took a little while until we were acknowledged, even though the place was empty (another table and us) , the food and drinks took longer to come out than expected. The sushi, unfortunately, wasn't the best, some of the rolls fell apart easily and another one was the wrong roll. On a positive side, they do have great happy hour options/pricing, which is always a plus for us. The crab wontons were delicious, and the pan-fried gyoza was also a great pick. Overall, there's potential here, but the sushi quality and wait time could use some improvement. read more

So the food is ok. I don't eat seafood and throughly enjoyed the sweet potato roll. I did get the teriyaki chicken it was just ok. Not a lot of flavor . Came with soup & salad which I did get after my entree came out and had to ask. If you like sushi they have a buffet. read more

The fish here is extremely fresh. The service is great. For me, It beats a lot of the other local places. You can get the happy hour menu wherever you sit. Even outside. You can't beat the HH prices!!! Great for being downtown. I feel like the krab rangoon gets better each time. A lot of filling and such a sweet flavor. One of my favorites. Definitely more filling to dough ratio. And super crispy. This time I got the small tuna roll and one each - tuna and salmon nigiri. The drink prices are good. This is my favorite go-to lunch spot. I visit at least twice a week and usually choose from two food items on rotation. I either get the duck noodle soup or the poke, which has a choice of protein: shrimp, grilled chicken, chicken katsu, tuna, salmon, or yellowtail. One Star. Disappointed and honestly still upset. My friend and I came here hoping for a nice sushi night, but instead left feeling dismissed and gaslit. We were served a hand roll we did not order, and when we calmly let the waitress know, she insisted we had. We hadn't--and we both clearly remembered what we asked for. My family and I ate here on New Year's Eve - and it was awesome! I can't believe it wasn't packed - but this was the perfect place for us. We had walked up and down Clematis looking for someplace that would be kid friendly, after seeing Sandi-Land, and so many of the restaurants we passed had special NYE menus with not a lot of kid friendly options. However, we avoided this at Sushi Yama, who seated our large party right away, served us amazing food that everyone liked, and we didn't have to deal with holiday menus, which are great sometimes but with kids can sometimes be limiting. Thank you for keeping things normal for us! We ordered many things, including the old standbys of wonton soup, pad thai with shrimp, and california rolls. I also got 2 other rolls that sounded good - and 1 was so awesome. I wish I had written this review earlier so that I could remember the roll names. I will post my photos although they are dark. I look forward to returning and knowing that I already like some of the rolls here, and I love knowing a place I can go to when downtown. On this night, I enjoyed people watching through the storefront windows looking out onto Clematis. My kids enjoyed looking at the multiple tvs. We sat on high chairs at a long rectangle table. This place is okay. The sushi is pretty fresh tasting but the quality isn't the best. It's a bit more tough versus melt in your mouth. I also got some Thai food, which I thought was okay too. The Drunken Noodle had a lot of flavor, but I wish it came with different vegetables. I'm glad I added broccoli because bamboo shoots are a cheap filler. The pad Thai was pretty bland and the tofu wasn't crispy. I had an allergy and they also weren't very careful about it. Several items clearly had cross contamination. read more

A personal favorite for sushi!!! Most times I order delivery, but service is quick when you eat in. The menu can be overwhelming, just a warning (it should be half the size). The crab rangoons are STUFFED with filling; definitely not skimping on the crab and cheese. They're always nice and crispy wontons as well. The pork gyoza is fresh, delicious both steamed and fried. My favorite thing at this restaurant are the cone shaped spicy tuna handrolls (temaki). The cucumber, tempura flakes, and tuna, blend together so well. They've been extremely fresh, every time I order them. Would prefer the sushi sheet was a little crispier. Stopped in here because we were in Downtown Clematis and we were hungry. Looking at the menu, it's just a traditional sushi place so you know what you're getting. I was quite hungry and I was feeling some sashimi so I ordered the combo for one. There were two to chose from, one that comes with rice and one with seaweed salad. I ordered the one with the seaweed salad for $1 more but still got the one with the rice. Service here is pretty bad. Our waitress didn't speak English and it was really hard to get her attention to order. We should have known when we sat down to a nearly empty restaurant on a Friday night at dinner time. Terrible Experience Would Not Recommend I had an extremely disappointing experience at this sushi restaurant. I ordered a specific roll, but the server brought me the wrong one. When I politely pointed it out, she insisted that I had ordered it--even though I know what I asked for. Rather than acknowledging the mistake, she gaslit me and made me feel like I was in the wrong. To make things worse, I had to pay for a replacement roll out of pocket, which was incredibly frustrating given it was their error. Because of this, I chose not to leave a tip. As we were leaving, the server made rude comments under her breath and tried to intimidate us--completely unprofessional behavior. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this level of disrespect and poor service needed to be addressed. Absolutely delicious! This was one of the best sushi restaurants that I've had in the area. The fish is very fresh and high quality, and also at a very good price. I got a sushi combo D as well as a volcano roll. All of it was delicious! A little questionable thing I noticed that I saw a lot of oil sitting on the bottom of my volcano roll. Not really sure what that was about. I got delivery so I'm wondering if it would've been different if I was sitting in the restaurant and it was being served on a plate. The sushi is OK, nothing to die for but good enough for $21.99. Add a large hot sake and dinner was about $35. I'll go back. Whoa! Stop the presses. I have to reconsider every 5 star rating I've issued to a sushi place in South East Florida after trying the amazing food here. The term I was finally able to decide on was "absurd" The food here is absurdly delicious. It leaves no room for critique or comment other than "oh sh*t this is good" and pardon my French but it truly is THAT good! Jessica, our server, was attentive, friendly, and quick! Couldn't ask for a better service experience, she was excellent. Now the food. We ordered directly from the special menu (veteran tip, ALWAYS order the specials at a sushi spot) Salmon Sushi tacos - These are built on an exquisitely crispy shell that is shockingly light, then you get hit with an absolutely mouth-watering salmon that MELTS in your mouth. You don't even bite the salmon it just melts. Damn near religious experience. Add some crunchy tomatoes, fresh cilantro, and a finger licking sauce with the perfect t kick, also topped with masago. This is a masterpiece! Shumai; classic and excellently prepared here. We had the steamed and fried and I really can't decide which is better. Get them both. Wahoo ceviche: first of all a great portion! And I'm not overstating this and I'm Latino (born in Mexico) and eat ceviche all the time, all kinds, from Peruvian to Mexican and I have to say that this ceviche puts most strictly ceviche places to shame. It's a top 5 ceviche experience I've had in years. How in the heck do they get the wahoo to be so delicate and tender. Fresh is almost not enough to describe how good this dish is. WARNING! The sauce they put on their wahoo ceviche is probably laced with cocaine because there is a clear addictive quality to it. I didn't wanna waste a drop of it. I may be feeling withdrawal as I write this!! Spider man roll: soft shell crab that is meatier than you'd expect! Delicious flavor, super tender and like I said SO MEATY! This roll is topped with fresh tuna and is amazing. Finally we ended the night with a banana foster dessert and while we both felt it wasn't going to live up to the food, we were wrong! It may not be made in-house (not sure about this) but man is it good. Not too sweet which is why I liked it. We also orders another order of the tacos since they truly were life changing. Tuna this time, it was just as good. All in all.... For a large sake (which was excellent) fried and steamed shumai, salmon tacos, tuna tacos, wahoo ceviche, spider man roll, and banana foster dessert the bull was under $100!! What a deal!! I went to eat lunch by myself there today and I've gone there several times with my coworkers usually after work for happy hour, and I came at happy hour by myself and the waitress was so freaking rude and was telling me how she doesn't know if she can get the happy hour but she'll try and they just treated me like I was an inconvenience to them because I came at happy hour if you don't want people to come at happy hour then don't offer a happy hour. I'm so discussed I felt like I was bacteria. i wasnt even done eating and they brought me my bill and. so i paid and just got up and left. we always come for happy hour but i always leave 20% with the crappy service they give but i will never step foot in there again. Sushi Yama is my go-to fried rice spot in West Palm Beach, FL! I always order my fried rice with shrimp and it consistently tastes BOMB! The shrimp fried rice is always steaming hot and full of plump, juicy shrimp. It's so delicious and filling that you don't even need to order anything else to go with it. (Lunch or dinner under $10? Heck yes!) I have to admit, I was a bit reluctant to eat here when I first visited. The restaurant doesn't look appealing from the outside. Been wanting to try this place for a while, and I'm glad I finally did! All of the food was very authentic and delicious. We had the happy pancake appetizer which was unique, but definitely a winner. For sushi rolls, we had the dynamite roll, which came with potato chips on top, and the sunrise roll, which was tempura fried. Both were very filling but some of the best rolls I've had in a while (and I am quite the sushi connoisseur). We also split the panang chicken curry which was amazing as well...
