Interesting menu. Food was pretty good. Ordered lamb lollipops medium rare. They were a bit over cooked - there was no pink at all. They still tasted good, but I prefer medium rare. The avocado and quinoa salad was very good. The St. Louis goey cake for dessert was also good. The restaurant is adorable inside. I had the soup of the day and it was much better than I could make at home, which is saying something. We went here for a Sunday Brunch and got there early so no problem parking or being seated. Atmosphere is business casual, and romantic which would be great for a date night. Our waiter Bryson was super with excellent service. I had the Omelette and my spouse had the Eggs Benedict both were good. Portions were decent size and prices reasonable. In the main dining area above the bar the TV played old movies such as Casablanca. This brought us back in time when we were in Casablanca. Parking is available on the street in front. My family was headed home from vacation and stopped at Public House in Amarillo Tx for a nice meal and relax for a bit b4 we finshed our trip home. The food didnt disappoint us it was delicious The service, on the other hand, was horrible. The waiter never came and refilled my husbands tea glass. They almost didnt let us eat there cuz, they said, there were to many reservations but when we looked around plenty of tables were empty and the whole time we were there tables remained empty. They charged us over twice what we owed and when the waiter came back with the correction all he said was, "thank you". mayb that is why they only have 3 stars. read more

We came here to have a couple of drinks and an appetizer and check it out as I had a few coworkers say that the food here was good as well as the ambiance. It is very nice on the inside, there is a lounge area and the bar area is large. The dining area also appeared nice, with a large selection of wines in the middle. It was fairly crowded for a mid-week day, I guess there are not many higher end places to take people if you are on a business dinner so this place might do good on that alone. They also have wine on tap as the Crush Wine bar downtown, it is a bit pricier though. I wanted to get a glass of wine but didn't feel like I needed to pay between $11-14 for a glass of wine. So they had $2 beer as the special, we got that. The waitress was brand new and didn't know anything about beer or what was on the menu, we asked her what the beer special tasted like and the bartender drank it and had her describe it for us. It actually was a good description, but just a general weird way to approach that instead of just giving us a sample. The menu LOOKS good (aside from the $60 rib eye...really!) and the appetizers sounded varied and yummy....so we got the sesame crusted oysters with a miso marinade. What we got was some deep fried oysters, with a large amount of batter and a tangy vinaigrette for dipping. We couldn't even finish eating it, I wanted to try a few more items on the menu but after getting that disaster, we decided to pay the bill and leave. The hostesses at the front were too busy on their cell phones gossiping to say goodbye and thank us for visiting...that really left a bad parting impression. So, I think that if there were better training for the staff as well as maybe getting the menu a bit up to par with their prices then I would try it again and update my review as I understand there are growing pains with a new establishment but I will probably not be rushing to try this place out again for a little while. read more

One of the best meals I have had in Amarillo. I went on opening night, the service was good, as you would would expect on opening night. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the chicken fried steak and a wilted greens salad. The salad was simple but amazing and the chicken fried steak was the best I had ever had. That's saying something, I was born in Texas and have eaten chicken fried steak my entire life. My mother got the filet... Just astonishing as well. So tended you could cut it with a fork (literary) My father had the salmon, he said it was the best he has had, I have to take his word for it since I don't do sea meat. There was a fantastic selection of wines to choose from. I had great small batch Cabernet. Over all a pleasant experience, I will be going back soon!! read more

The Public House is a five star experience. It's a upscale restaurant where you can go and have fun. Lot's of laughing and loud talking going on. I'm sure the drinks have a little to do with that. Upon entering the Public House you are greeted by nice hostesses who show you to your table. Service is prompt and friendly. The waiter listed the specials that the restaurant had that day. After ordering my meal I had a couple of managers come and introduce themselves to me and let me know they were available to make my experience perfect. The restaurant advertises as comfort food. I have to say that it's high end comfort food. It's what you would expect from a dish but much better. There are many areas to this restaurant. I was looking up at the second level where the bar is and I could see a humongous tv. There were lot's of people in there having fun. There are private dining areas and open public places. Overall the restaurant is very comfortable. My meal was perfect and I took home with me a Pimento Sandwich to have the next day. They were nice enough to seperate all the ingredients for me so the bread wouldn't get soggy. I really appreciated that. And I'm just saying that this is house made pimento cheese and I am looking forward to lunch tomorrow. There were so many other meals I would like to try. I'll just have to come back. I don't know if they were having a bad day or I am list used to Dallas brunch places, but my experience here was subpar. We waited for 30 minutes, which is not unusual for Sunday brunch. Our server had a full section, though we were prepared a knew what we wanted. He brought all the food ordered but forgot the other condiments that normally go with the food ordered (i.e. setup, cream and sugar). The food was good, I had no complaints about my pancakes nor did anyone else about their food. The coffee was a bit burnt and I would probably not order it again. WE had lunch there yesterday, there were three of us and we ate lunch salad's with steak. I was amazed that the romine lettuce was wilted and we got a very small three pieces of steak. I brought two guests to meet each other and did not say it to them but I was embarrassed with the lack of quality food. We did have desert (however it took easily one half hour to get it) I was ready to cancel. My husband and I eat there and have always had good food food. This is my favorite brunch place in Amarillo. There's never a wait on the Sundays that we go (mind you I've always gone with a small party though) and the staff was very polite and accommodating. If you like crab try the Crab Cake Benedict. It has a hint of jalapeño in it but overall a very mild spice level. The regular Eggs Benedict is also fantastic if you prefer ham. We were seated and our drink order taken. 20 minutes later no tea and no waiter. It was by far the priciest item on the menu ($20) but I have no regrets. There was a generous chunk of juicy lobster topping each benedict, drizzled in just the right amount of Hollandaise. Side portion of hash browns + asparagus made for a solid helping of food in total. The poached eggs were a tad overdone but as long as there's still runny yolk, it's all good.
