I was not happy about how things end with the rental of my unit. I always try to do the right thing. Sometimes doing the right thing will get you kicked in the teeth! I was charged for a whole month and I only stayed 4 days over. One hundred and twenty-nine dollars for staying 4 days over! I feel like I've been robbed for trying to do the right thing! They said that it was in the contract. Something like that should be discussed verbally not stuck some where in a contract where you will probably never see it. My time with Public Storage was going well until I evacuated the unit. I feel like I was robbed and that I paid for everyone else who didn't pay for their last 4 days or how ever many days they left unpaid. My family told me not to pay but no I have to do the right thing. Doing the right thing does not pay off. And it's for that reason I would not recommend Public Storage. Most people probably already know that's why people just get their things and go. I had all my things out of the unit. I could have just left but no I had to pay for my 4 extra days. Little did I know that I was about to pay for an entire month! A month that I was not going to be there! There ought to be some kind of law against this sort of thing. You won't get me again and I will tell everyone I can about my experience. Because I feel like I've been robbed I should have given you 1star. read more

She made a lady remove her stuff out of a unit (after 3 hours or loading), because she did not qualify for a promo. The lady even agreed to pay full price, but Trina said no. Horrible service. Trina is belligerent, rude and provides the worst customer service in the world. The place is not well kept. They clean it before you rent it, but after two months I go to my unit and it is dirty outside and full of spiders, larvae and bugs. Trina told me she sprayed around it (per my request), but when I went there I see an infestation of filth, spiders and bugs. I'm deathly allergic to insects and she can't respect it and tells me this is OK. The unit was falsely advertised and this has to be the worst PS I've been to. Trina is a liar. Oh....and she doesn't answer their phones or return messages. I called her while I was on site 3 times. I run to the office finding her sitting down with another staff looking at me like I'm crazy. Can't wait to get my stuff out of here!!!! Don't go to this PS. I plan to make the district manager well aware with photos in hand. read more

We were customers here for a few years and in October 2015 our unit was broken into. They did not cut the lock, they cut the door around the lock. The Police told us that this type of drive up storage location is often robbed. Because they allow after hours entry and cars can drive in, they have break ins often. They had some grainy video but security is a joke. They have since put key pads next to the elevator, but the police told us unless it has a newer type of cylinder lock, these units are easy prey.The Police said to be safe all people entering should pass by an employee and no after hours access. Our items were all over the hallway and the unit was a mess. read more

I'm so happy I chose Public Storage for the storage of my personal belongings! Rich was the guy who signed me up at Public Storage. He was so helpful in showing me how to navigate the system ... Answering questions, suggesting various packing items for sale and helping me to borrow a cart to move my boxes into my new storage unit! I feel very secure having my personal items stored at this location. The property is always neat and clean and well maintained. This location is centrally located for anyone living in the west Hills, Canoga park , Woodland Hills area I set up auto pay for monthly deductions from my checking account so I never have to worry! Where do I start... Due to relocating back to Europe soon I needed to store some of my belongings. I spoke to the manager at the front desk and inquired about the available sizes. We then saw the unit and I inquired about the locks, having bought a premium lock myself in advance. Mine happened to be too big (that's what she said) and I asked her about the security about the locks they conveniently sell, slim enough to fit through the small hatches. Her answer was, slightly arrogant, that anyone could break any lock if they really wanted. Say what? That's not true. I certainly couldn't open a $150 lock and am pretty sure she couldn't either. I decided to rent anyways and went ahead to fill out the paperwork. Unfortunately, they only accept driver's licenses and as mine had recently put a whole through because of a name change, she couldn't swipe it. Showing her my passport didn't help either. Not her fault of course, but a dumb system. When I asked her if she knew of any other storage company, she said no. Hahaha, I mean seriously? You don't want my business but also can't let me go to someone else? That's an abusive relationship my dear and I knew I had to get out of it and start a new life with someone else. It didn't take me long and so far Extra Storage and I are very happy together, I hope it lasts, but my gut tells me it will. read more

The manager sent out a notice that they were upgrading the units by putting new doors and new locks (breaking off the ones put on by the renters). They would not let me know the day that this was being done and would not allow me to be there when this occurred. When the new keys were available, I checked my unit and found that many things were missing. The "upgrade" did not include repairing the large holes inside and outside of the unit. I've been a customer here for about 2 years and received pretty good service, until Friday. I arrived at about 8:45pm & realized I had better hurry to get out by 9pm when they close. Luckily I pulled up to the exit gate at exactly 9:00 pm (on the exit code box). I punched in my code & nothing happened. I tried it again....again, nothing. The clock on the exit code box then clicked to 9:01. I tried my code again & it said "this area closed". I couldn't believe it. I tried my code again, same closed message. HOLY SH*T THEY LOCKED ME IN!!! This can't be happening. Oh well, I'll call the 800 number & they'll trigger a code & open the gate for me. NOOOOO. At 9pm (west coast time) their national offices are closed. COMPLETELY CLOSED, NO ONE IS AVAILABLE. A NATIONAL COMPANY CLOSES COMPLETELY! Not one rep is working. I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR OVERNIGHT BEHIND THEIR GATES. Take a cab home, then take a cab back the next morning to get my car. When I called the 800 number the next day the rude rep said I had to call 911 to be released. WHAT??? I have to bother emergency services to get off your lot??? You've got to be kidding me. I can understand not letting people in at 9pm, closing the entry gate. BUT WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU CLOSE & LOCK THE EXIT GATE?!?! KEEP PEOPLE LOCKED IN?!?! You need to put that on your exit gate, in very clear letters, anyone still here at 8:59 pm will be locked in the premises. UNBELIEVABLE and shocking this would happen in todays business world. read more
