Worst experience ever. I had this storage unit in samta cruz for a year. They doubled my fee within that time. There was never staff available at this location. It cost me 160 dollars to get into my unit after my key was stolen. Coordinating having an outside party to get me in my unit was difficult because the staff wasn't there during office hours. When i.moved out of my unit they canceled my.reservation before i even confirmed my move out date. The day i moced out there was no cart available to move my belongings. There was one cart the whole year for over a hundred storage spaces. This cart was never easily located. Then so.eone took the onky cart and the co.oany did not replace it. It is so abseud there was only one cart for a hundred people for a year when i paid 150 dollars a month for this unit. When i called to complain the manager onsite was very unhelpful and offered no assitamce or solution to moving my heavy furniture that was 5p feet into the warehouse where my unit was located. He refused to offer me.a.prorated rate for my unit that i moved out halfway before the month. He also refused to give me any sort of a refund for my horrible.experience. this place ia a teue rip off. They also send the rent increases to spam so you never see them until its too late to move out. It is sneaky since all my other emails from this sotrage place go firectly to my.important mail. DO NOT USE THEM I rented a unit from them for a little over a year, and man is it a complete money sink. If the price had stayed the same throughout, I wouldn't be here writing this. The price gets hiked every so often and got completely ridiculous. I went to inquire about the move out process, and the clerk (who was annoy I'd interrupted her personal phone call) didn't mention anything about getting charged the full month if I hadn't moved out by the end of the month. I moved out on the 1st of the following month and they still wanted the payment. No prorate, no payment plan, no negotiation of any kind. Not a modicum of care for a customer. The storage facility itself was good. Prices were a bit high honestly but no other company had a location close to my home. But they could lower their prices a bit. Getting in and out of the unit was fine and the building is relatively secure. My issue was with the management. On several occasions when I went to access my unit, there were no employees. They simply didn't show up to work. I would call their main number and they were not able to help me. This happened a few times. Certain doors wouldn't be open because the manager just didn't bother to show up to work. So I couldn't access the things I needed and had to come back when they employees decided to show up. Before moving to Florida, I have used many storage facilities for my buisness and personal needs. This is my first experience with the Public Storage in Ocala and I couldn't make it my last fast enough. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because I do believe my stuff was safe, but the rest of the experience was so bad, I had a hard time justifying giving them that. The company thinks it can run itself without any one actually working there....just use the kiosk. lol It took me an hour and ten minutes and talking on the phone with 4 different representatives to actually rent out a couple of their units. And after the first months $1 promotion is over, the next monthly figure you will see is not your monthly rate, but a prorated rate for the remainder of the month. Very misleading. I,m sure it explains it somewhere in small print, but it is not truly clear or transparent. the third month you will see your actual monthly charge. For me it was a 10x15 unit that cost me $230 after taxes. The most expensive unit I have ever paid for by far!! Don't forget to get your own lock cause after 30 days you will be charged $20 for the one they provide you, non-refundable. I am sure that it is written somewhere in the fine print also. 12 minutes on their websites chat feature just to ask where do I write a review. After a few computerized answers that answered nothing, a real person finally came on answered my question. There are a few other things i could comment on but I'm done and I'm done with them. After my experience, I wouldn't recommend anyone to use this company. There are so many mom and pop storage facilities out there that will greet you with a smile :) and a hello. The one I moved to in Crystal River is a bigger unit for less money, 10x20 unit for $151/mth not including taxes. Public Storage District Manager (no name) so my review doesn't get deleted. Let's talk mental health! I have been helping an individual with severe mental health issues store his belongings after becoming homeless. During Covid, late fees accumulated, almost $700 plus storage fees. The late fees are more than the rental. In my opinion they have no compassion. In my opinion I feel he is getting robbed, he hasn't been able to take it out even after rent was current due to the late fees. How could such a large company contribute to mental health person wanting to take their life. He has already lost everything everything else of importance. Mental health individuals hold on to everything, that's the only thing they can control. Unfortunately nothing in storage is of value. The only person it's worth anything to is him. It's not a large storage. So far to date a total of $5624 has been paid. In my opinion Corporate greed at its finest. read more

Get their insurance. I stored an antique desk for 3 years and it was damaged by a water leak in their roof. The contract limits their liability. So after 3 years paying to store my desk I get back a worthless piece of furniture!!!??? OUCH...!!! read more

If you have anything large or heavy, this unit is not for you. I ordered my unit online. They failed to mention all small units are above the large units and only accessible via a large ladder with a platform. There is a large gap between the storage unit and the ladder platform, which I felt could be dangerous. It was challenging for me to get light weight objects in the unit. I was very disappointed. Please add pictures to your site, so people know what they are getting themselves into ahead of time. I would have found something else if I had known when booking. read more

New! Clean! They close early and open late No after hours access. One elevator only works. Its always people moving in and out high turn over rate. Staff is super nice to see the contents of your storage for auction purposes. I was encouraged to pay with cash almost like someone's embezzling funds of a sort. I was over-charged for a storage fee because the prices are so subject to change on a daily basics which leaves too flexibility in the price and stealing. I was encouraged to sell some valueable contents in the storage and later a lock was placed on the unit almost like an employee was interested in the contents of the storage. I've had public storage in studio City before and it was a joy . However , my move in experience here was anything BUT simple or convenient . For a start , the employees seemed scattered ,stressed out and unqualified . The woman I was dealing with was a hot mess and so seemed to be the other lady working there who clearly was having problems with her owns tasks as well . Prices at this location are also hiked up . Must be because of the tourist area because the quality of , well everything , compared to studio City was FAR beneath . To top it all off , right on the side of the street next to the entrance there is a cute small homeless community . I STILL almost followed through with the contract signing (even tho I hated the staff , the unit , and the entire design of the place ) , when their system crashed and had to be started over . Which I took as a sign to get the heckkk out of there after wasting like 30 minutes of my life and figure out other options . Haaave fun ! read more

My experience is far from excellent. In short, I have never had to rent a storage unit. So all new to me, I would think the people at the front desk would be a little understanding and patient. It was almost like they didn't want me there. I got the promo first Month, for a $1. I was under the impression that it would be more than that, but wasn't expecting $75 and then turn around $289. I'm utterly confused and needed someone to break it down me. Customer service people or lack their of didn't help. I am so out off by this, I took all myself out there and it's into my new apartment. Negative stars. I've been here for 3M for business and personal reasons. I'm very punctual on timing. First thing is the hours. 930-6pm. Need to extend those. The employees all look like they are being held in a jail cell. Seriously every single one of them talks with a sigh in their voice. I'm writing this review @937am while I wait outside these stupid gates that are supposed to open at 930AM. Not 933, not 937, 930! The elevators are stupid slow, old building and large elevators ( ok no prob) if you have patience. Not when your in a rush. They don't offer key fobs, so you have to throw your code in every time. I'm paying $156 a month for a 5X10 which in my opinion is a average. If I didn't have such a packed schedule, I would have moved storage locations a while ago, but that requires renting a uhaul, and grabbing guys to get it done. Which is a half day at least. Save your self the headache, if the prices here are appealing, save yourself the hassle and pay more somewhere else that has better perks. Because you'll pay in time, and headaches later. On Sunday, September 26th, 2020, my husband & son were vacating our 2 storage rooms located in the basement of 6840 Santa Monica Blvd, LA, CA 90028. Unfortunately, our son got stuck in the elevator. He pushed the Fire Department button. The Elevator Service Company answered & told him the service tech would be there & they never called the Fire Department. The person in the office was aware & did thing! They left him in there for almost 2 hours! After an hour & a half, My son called me again & told me he was still in the elevator. Any logical person would believe the office & the elevator company would call the fire department! I called the office *The on-site person said, if my son rings the elevator company through the fire emergency button & requests the fire department, than he would call the fire department. I told him my husband had hip replacement surgery & our son was the main person to help in our move & to please call the fire department & he refused! I then called the fire department & they told me they would go immediately! Please know the only other way to move our belongings was to push/carry them up a very steep incline. This morning I called the corporate office of public storage & they said it is not their responsibility to call the fire department. They stated, they hired the elevator company to handle it. I find this to be completely unacceptable. Public Storage owns the building! They left a person in the elevator for 2 hours! & would have been in there longer if I would not have called! They absolutely have ZERO Customer Service & No Compassion for someone trapped in their elevator!! This was very distressing for my son & my husband. It is so shocking for any business to have this as a policy! This has cost us more money! It delayed us to complete our move. Another day with the moving truck & more money for labor! We will never do business with any public storage again & suggest you choose another storage facility! The lack of concern for their fellow human is disgusting!! read more

Abysmal. I work for a TV show and we needed a storage space to keep some of our office furniture before moving to another city to shoot on-location. We called and asked the folks at this branch to send us a blank copy of the Rental Agreement - because it's our network's policy that before we can sign any sort of legal document, our legal department needs to see and approve it. The guy refused - said "that's just not the way it works here at Public Storage." Offered no logical explanation as to why we couldn't just read the rental agreement in advance instead of signing it on the day... wouldn't let us speak with a manager... and after we politely asked him multiple times to put us in touch with someone who could actually help us, he just hung up. I'm just surprised that any company in the modern age would think it good business practice to refuse to cooperate with, and even worse HANG UP on, potential customers. The company's size keeps it afloat perhaps but I'm quite sure that their disastrous customer service practices will be the death of them eventually. read more

The manager is never there to help, he does not care about the customers. I asked to speak to him and they literally told me he's "busy" so he won't answer my call. They up the prices on you. They scam you. They are so rude and condescending. They make you feel uncomfortable. My friend paid her storage and they claim she didn't and charged her late fees of $40 and refused to waive it because we're new customers. That's how you treat new customers? The absolute WORST in customer service. I've been here for almost three years and the high turnover staff here obviously hates their job because they are the laziest, rudest people ever. I've had other public storage units and this is by far the tipping point of horrible! I hate that I give them money but this facility is so close to my business. They are constantly closing in the middle of the day for lunch, they always close the gates early! Their hours are 9:30-6pm mon- fri and I can guarantee you that they too will be leaving at 6pm meaning that they kick you out at 5:45. I've been waiting outside today for 30 minutes while the employee eats lunch behind locked doors. I cannot get a cart and apparently the customers time means nothing to them. I really hope corporate management does something to correct this massive and constant problem they have here. Rude, disrespectful, inconsiderate folks at the Hollywood public storage. I love me some Public Storage at Santa Monica and Highland! Kasey, Joyce, Nicole, & Caesar are easy to deal with and I love joking around with them, too! I mean seriously, if you can't have fun with Public Storage, what CAN you have fun with?! Unfortunately, Kasey told me that I'm not allowed to keep any dead bodies, drugs, or weapons of any kind in the facility, so I went with the 10x10 unit instead of the 20x20. I told them to let me know if they ever start to allow that stuff because I could give them WAY more business than I already do right now... so I'm waiting for that. But in the meantime, the gang over there is great, and they'll treat you right! Good times. read more
