We have always had a great experience with this company, but last week I was blown away when the Public Storage team saved our office holiday party. An hour before the party, we realized that we had left some important items in storage. We rushed to the site, not knowing that the gate is locked and closed at 6pm. We arrived just after 6pm and when our code didn't work- we went inside the office and were informed that they were closed. Even though they could have sent us away, Joss, Cynthia and Cesar worked together to escort us to our locker and helped us get our items and got us out of there in time to finish our party setup. They were super helpful and their customer service was amazing. Going above and beyond even in small ways like this is what puts companies above the rest. The units are extremely clean and look nicely reinforced with nice doors and the hallways also look clean and upkept which made me feel safe for what I will be storing. Sure, give me four walls and some fluorescent lighting and I'll give you a storage place. But what I can't give you, and only this particular Public Storage CAN give you is fantastic customer service. I say "fantastic" as in "fantasy", as in customer service can only be this astoundingly superb in tales of princess and knights and fire breathing dragons. Perhaps some sorcerer concocted a brew of worm wart and eye of newt in such a way that gave Megan, Mesky, and Bryan these supernatural abilities of serving their clients needs with unending commitment and excellence. Perhaps they're just really good at their jobs. I find Public Storage cheap and in a convenience location to satisfy my storage needs and my future concerns. Public Storage is just 3-blocks away from my home. This closeness is even walking distant. Also, Public Storage had on the very first try the right size(7 x 15) storage unit i needed. Keith is entire reason for this 1 star review. I booked online to receive 50% off. When I showed up in person to complete the process, he didn't want to implement the discount since he would have to wait a few minutes for the discount to process. His excuse was "The price wouldn't be that much of a difference unless you were going to be using the storage for a long time." Yes you're right Keith, my $110 storage would have only been $55 less. Public Storage I am a screenwriter. I live in Koreatown. Often, I work in Hollywood very late. Since I have a storage unit at Public Storage. I drop in three/four times a week to pick up clothes etc. On March 3, 2017 I came by and packed a bag and then took some clothes to the laundry mat. When I left the laundry the time on my cell phone was 5:45. The laundry mat is less that two blocks away. When I arrived I saw the heavy set, hispanic woman and two black guys in the office. I put my code in 2/3 times and it kept coming up with see office. Mind you neither of them came out of the office to tell me what was going on. To me they sat there like it was entertainment for them. When I walked in the office the heavy set hispanic woman said, there was no way that I could get up to my unit, with a smirk on her face. I told her that I only wanted to drop off my laundry and pick up my bag. She said no, there was no way. I knew she was lying. When the power was out a few weeks ago I went up to get clean clothes and was accompanied to my unit by Eric. BTW PUBLIC STORAGE NEEDS A BACK UP GENERATOR FOR POWER OUTAGES. I told her how important it was that I get my belongings. At that time I also had 4 bags of clean clothes in my cart. She told me to read my contract the cut off time was 5:50. SERIOUSLY??? But the time on the gate specifically says 6:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. She didn't care. I said I wasn't going to leave because I knew there was a way to get upstairs. Then she call the Media cops on me. WTF She said she called whomever Michael WAS and he said I shouldn't be allowed upstairs. She said the alarm had been set and it would notify LAPD. That was a lie too. I got locked in one night and wound up calling the 800 number. By the time I got someone on the phone I'd been in there about 15 minutes and no cops showed up. Didn't matter. My brother is a Sheriff's Detective. I also have friends in LAPD. One of whom I texted during that chaos. The media guy said there was nothing he could do. He said that the heavy set hispanic woman told him that I could talk to Michael the next day. So, now I'm locked out with four bags of clothing in a cart at night, in not so great neighborhoods. I furious. I went back to the laundry and paid the attendant $10.00 To hold my clothes until I could get back the next day. Before I got to Public Storage I called to speak with Michael who according to the heavy set hispanic woman was supposed to be there the next morning. I got Eric on the phone. He said Michael wouldn't be there until Tuesday. I left my number for him to return my call. Michael never called me back. Let's fast forward to March 10, 2017. I was leaving Public Storage and two people were being shown up to their units at 5:55. So she could have entered a code for me to get my belongings. She's a liar. My opinion of Public Storage is zip. Zilch. Nil. Customer Service is not a priority for the heavy set hispanic woman, nor her supervisor Michael. As soon as I find another place to store my belongings I will move out of this place. At every turn she escalated the issue. It didn't have to go that far. I am still furious and anytime, anyone asks me about Public Storage I will tell them to go somewhere. And the heavy set hispanic woman should be fired. ASAP. But before firing make her clean that filthy bathroom. read more

Finally moved out of my unit after a miserable ten months. If you can afford literally any other storage option DO THAT. CONS - They will never pick up the phone - The office is frequently closed during office hours - The hours are terrible to begin with - The employees are mostly polite but are not helpful after you sign up - I was once trapped in the underground parking with my car for 45 minutes because my code didn't work. Had to call a sales number to speak to a person to get out. - Notified the office of feces in the basement parking, still there two weeks later- stepped in and spread out - The fire alarm was going off for about two months before it was recently fixed. Staff told us the "batteries were low"when it was an obvious alarm, not a chirp. Staff has no concern for working fire alarms. - Boxes are 2x the price of uhaul boxes. PROS - Cancellation and move out was relatively easy and FELT SO GOOD. read more

We had a storage unit here for almost 20 years until it got broken into this past year. Not only did they break into our unit and tear it all into bits but they broke through the walls into the other units. The management did nothing to help. There is only ONE CAMERA on the main entrance and no one is on site at night so the staff said there are break ins all the time but nothing changes. They need a few more cameras on the other side entrances and throughout the building. It seems like it may be inside jobs since it happens all the time and there are no consequences. The police came and filled out a report and despite the damage there was no results. I would NEVER EVER EVER rent a unit here again. It's a joke. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The people who work here are the least hospitable humans to exist. Even though they have set open hours they won't let you in your unit half an hour prior to closing, and are extremely rude about it. Their elevator permits are expired and at least one elevator is broken on a consistent basis. They don't fix their broken carts, seeing as they have had broken carts for almost two months now. I would not be surprised if they paid for 5 star reviews. This place is the worst! read more

They have a bit of a theft problem. Not only did the thieves have a master key for the public storage lock I bought. After going through all of my boxes, the thieves left others people's stuff in my unit (apparently they broke in other units that day, and had so much stuff, that they had to leave stuff behind to take my stuff). If this isn't an inside job, then it has to be an ex employee. read more

Very poor quality for the money on one visit all the rest rooms were out of service. Two weeks ago 3 of the 4 elevators were out of service in a building with 4 floors. It smells. But you do pay top dollar. The are very good at apologizing but not on getting anything fixed. That is done by the head office who's only concern is the bottom line.
