Where do I begin with Puffin nails?! I have been to many nail shops over the years, but the staff here is unmatched. Eric is exceptional about fitting me in and working with my schedule, I think I am his funniest and most annoying client all in one:). I could rave about Cindy and Hannah for hours but all in all I adore those two. I get dip manicures and shellac pedicures every 3-4 weeks and they have a very efficient routine down with me. I get a pedicure with Hannah as my nails soak in Acetone (which is way healthier for the strength of my nails instead of using the nail dremel) then once I am finished Cindy is ready to do my nails. I am pretty predictable when it comes to what color I want and I love that they remember because it makes me feel cared for. I moved to Concord in April and it's been so hard to find a good nail place that takes their time and provides detail work. After trying seems like 100 nails shop (not literally maybe 6) I have finally found my forever nail shop. Not only is it amazing for helping me right when I get there for my appointment but the nail tech that first helped me was LeeLee! She is amazing! I'm a mama of 2 with one on the way so I'm constantly washing my hands washing dishes helping my kids with bath time my nails go through a lot. I also have a history of fragile nails all my life so I really look for a place that can do the job right and not have my nails chipped after 1 day like the other nail shops I experience in Concord/Walnut Creek. I love using Dip Powder because it's so much better then gel and better than acrylic but if you don't have a good nail shop with great quality equipment and a great nail tech, your nails won't last. My first time with LeeLee she educated me around dip powder and how particularly take care of dip powder also shared how my nails grow with a curve so if I get oval shape of pointy shape nails it's easier to break which I didn't know! I got my nails done almost 3 weeks ago and it still looked good like I can still go a few days longer. Even after washing hands constantly, cleaning, washing and so on my nails never chipped!! Yay!! Huge accomplishments I must say I was testing it to see was this going to be my place and was this going to be my lifetime tech and it is!! I went there today and LeeLee took care of me again (I asked for her) and she did the same thing again took care of me so well. We had such a great conversation such a hard working lady. I feel like I made a friend. :-) she did an incredible job again and I'm super excited that I found my place! Btw I went in today so I can change my nail color since my husband and I are celebrating our 7 year anniversary otherwise I would of kept my nails for a few more days read more

I got an adorable Christmas themed dip powder manicure at Puffin Nails today! This was my 2nd time visiting Puffin Nails and I'll definitely be back! The salon is nice, the staff is friendly, and most importantly, they did an amazing job on my nails both times I've visited so far :) I've gotten the dip powder manicure both times, but they also offer different types of manicures & pedicures as well, and they have a huge selection of colors to choose from. My first dip manicure lasted 3 weeks without any chipping! Horrible! Would never go again! My regular salon was booked so decided to try Puffin Nails out. First of all they didn't listen to what I wanted - I asked for square nails and she argued and filed them to be more oval because according to her "too square is not good" - MY CHOICE! Second - I had them done literally one week ago and almost all my nails are chipping and polish as come off....I have to go back and get them re-done- fortunately at my regular salon who I love! But unfortunately have to pay again because Puffin would not refund any of the money even after they told me come in, show them my nails, and they would give me my money back. OH and side note! They are $13 HIGHER than everywhere else for a fill. Seriously - steer clear of this place. read more

I've been going to Puffin for years and can easily say they are hands down the best nail salon in the area. I get gel and dip manicures and occasionally pedicures and every single tech there does an amazing job. Even more than the quality of their work though, is just how wonderful everyone who works there is. The owners are so sweet and always want to make sure you're pleased with the final product, and I can't say enough good things about the technicians and how skilled and meticulous they all are. Decided to come to this salon since my nail tech was out of town. Big mistake. Got a gel fill and 2 days later the gel starts peeling off. I went to this nail salon today for my first time. The lady who did my manicure is not friendly at all. The salon is cute for decoration. So I thought the vibe will be good. The reception guy is not friendly either. The lady who doesn't speak good English and she said something I didn't understand so I asked again, and she lost her patience and just being quiet the entire time. Even though she wore mask and I can tell her face was not nice at all. Not even asking me how do you like it, the nail color I choose and the one she did for me doesn't look alike. I am not saying everyone is not friendly in the store, as I hear other staffs were talking and communicating with laughs. She is not even trying to help just quickly finished my nails. This isn't a fancy place, but they do good work. Plus, I love all the windows that let sunlight flow into the salon. So far I've had a gel manicure and a regular mani/ped. All were done well and with a detailed eye. The polish from my manicure lasted a long time, which was great. The ladies who work here are really nice and make it a good experience. I'm from out of town & I needed to get my nails done..I don't even remember the girl's name who did my nails, but she took a little under an hour to do my nails & it should've taken a bit longer due to what I had asked. She didn't bother to shape my nails as coffin, they look like skinny rectangle. The diamonds are not fixed or lined up & don't go all the way around the bottom of the nail to form the "U" shape, my nails are lumpy from not filing correctly, I think she was overwhelmed or maybe just over my nails, but she hadn't dried my nails & they were wet when she applied the top coat & then dried them...& to top it off, she didn't let my nails dry completely so when she put the cuticle oil, she wiped off half the top coat. The people were nice, but this is the WORST job I've ever had on my nails, & that's saying a lot because I've been getting acrylic nails for over 12 years. I was in a rush & didn't have time to stay to ask them to be fixed or done correctly & didn't have time during my trip to go in. & then the cherry on top, they charged me $60!! Needless to say, I didn't tip & walked out SUPER upset! When speaking with my family Member who I'm visiting, she said this is 1 of the cheaper places up here... I so enjoy coming here... the owner always remembers my name which is pretty amazing for a nail shop with tons of clients coming in and out! Lily does my nail dip and truly is fabulous and meticulous which I so appreciate but mostly for caring for the integrity of my nails I'm always pleased and happy when I leave!!
