I LOVE This place! The Brick Oven is one of my most favorite and highly frequented restaurants in the area. I've never had a bad experience or meal here. Though you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, my go to is the mind blowing eggplant dishes. I try eggplant parm other places and nothing comes even close to how it's done at Brick Oven. Super thin, never soggy, full of flavor and very generous portions. Simpy the best-of-the-best... but don't take my word for it, try it, you'll see! The decor... is pleasing and comfortable without being over the top so you feel at ease in jeans and t-shirt or in a full suit. You can come here for a simple everyday lunch with family or work crew, or it's nice enough to be a place you go for a special night out. The Staff... Not super friendly, but very professional and very helpful. Don't expect them to entertain you or be super chatty, but I honestly prefer that. Price... Average prices for the area, so considering how outstanding the food is and the nice ambiance, it's well worth it. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. read more

This place is very deceiving...in a very good way. We went to this place expecting it to be a pizza place with some additional items. It is much more an Italian Restaurant that serves pizza, than a pizza place. The service was excellent, the food was delicious. My nephew and I chose the special seafood dish, which was stuffed shrimp over linguine - delicious! The pasta fagiola was homemade and the salmon dish was superior. It is a BYOB restaurant, which was also ok with us. We brought our own wine, they uncorked it and and served it for us. Very wonderful surprise. I recommend highly. read more

We were looking for a change from eating at home, and my wife suggested an Italian restaurant that she had passed a number of times when taking our son to school in Florham Park. We ordered chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs, and the Salmon Brick Oven with sautéd veggies. The chicken parm was perfect. Crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle. Homemade sauce with really nice flavor, and fresh mozzarella melted on top. The kids devoured the spaghetti and meatballs, which is their version of 5 stars, b/c they can be a bit picky. Lastly, the Salmon was amazing! Perfectly cooked and great seasoning on the fish. The veggies were delicious and paired with some roasted potatoes which was a nice touch. We went out looking for a family meal and also wanted to support small business during the COVID-19 pandemic. We couldn't have been more happy with our choice, and look forward to enjoying another great meal there soon! read more

A small restaurant. The food is really good and consistent. I eat lunch (only) here, so I can't comment on their dinner situation. However, the menus are identical. For lunch, they typically have 4 specials (pizza, chicken, fish, pasta) each day. They do have a great personal pizza - extremely thin crust and baked in a wood fired oven. I really like the crumbled sausage topping. Wait service is good. At times they can get very busy and service may get a bit slow. Speak up and they will accommodate your needs. I regularly get in and out in about 50 minutes. They have a few outdoor tables for Summer dining, but the patio is only about 30 feet off a busy roadway. No alcohol is sold so bring your own. This is the spot. You can drive by this place and never see it. They have excellent entrees, pizzas and service is excellent. It may be helpful to call in advance. Review from lunch 11/6/13 So I was off to have a lunch at Nonna's pizzeria (a fantastic pizza place in Florham Park) when my friend and I noticed Puleo's Brick Oven Pizza. As a culinary explorer cut of the same cloth as Christopher Columbus, we changed course and sailed into Puleo's for a nice sit down meal. First off, this place was PACKED at 12:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon. We got one of the last two tables that were available. I proceeded to order the Fettuccini con Portobello which is Fettuccini noodles with shrimp, Portobello mushrooms, garlic and extra virgin olive oil. I must say, this was a VERY enjoyable meal. There was a good portion of perfectly cooked shrimp in the dish along with a gaggle of Portobello mushrooms. Now the dish had an ABUNDANCE of garlic thinly slice into the dish but it worked perfectly as the olive oil was very delicate and the Portobello "juice" that cooked out created a nice broth, but one that needed the strong garlic to kick it up. Overall, this was a well thought out combo. My only small complaint was that the fettuccini was slightly overcooked and clumped together. I had a hard time twirling it up on my fork as a result. I think that this may have happened due to the overabundance of customers and I could definitely look past it. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch. This place is a restaurant, NOT a pizzeria. Quality food, fast and polite service and a good menu with some dishes that are more higher end that your average pizzeria. I WILL BE BACK! read more

Went here early on Saturday evening with 5 couples and 5 kids (15 in all). The staff was phenomenal in accommodating all of us comfortably and efficiently. Always a plus! The food was good. Great! Ate here last week and everything was delicious. Came here with a girlfriend and we shared a salad, penne with vodka sauce and balsamic chicken. I liked them all! Eh, this place was just okay and not worth the price point. I had fettucini with shrimp, portobello mushrooms, and garlic. While the shrimp was perfectly cooked, the garlic was burned to a crisp and the pasta arrived in one huge congealed ball. My husband had bow-tie pasta with broccolini and pine nuts - except there were like two total pine nuts. Staff was nice but I think they checked on us maybe once after the food was delivered and never bothered to refill our water pitcher. I came here for lunch the other day and it was my first time here. I've always known this place was there but just never made it over. I came just before the lunch rush as the place was pretty empty when I entered but then totally packed when we left. I was a little misled by the name. "Brick Oven" in the name made me thought it was more of a brick oven pizza place but that's not the case. This is definitely a sit down restaurant and I didn't even see too much pizza on the menu. I guess I could have missed it. They have a ton of different pastas, entrees, salads and sandwiches to choose from during lunch. I don't like to have huge lunches so I went with one of their sandwiches. I had the grilled chicken panini type of sandwich which came with fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, arugula and a balsamic vinaigrette. It was also served with home made potato chips. The chips were good -- I was actually pretty impressed. The sandwich was solid, too. Definitely not the best thing I've ever had but I'd order it again. The portion size was perfect for lunch. We ended our meals with some cappuccinos. I have probably had cappuccino less than five times in my life but I thought this one was excellent. I actually enjoyed it a lot. Service was decent throughout the meal and the food was served in a timely manner which is also key during lunch. I'd have absolutely no problem coming here again. read more

Amazing brick oven pizza! Thin and very crispy and the perfect size for one. I ordered the special which was white pizza with portobello mushrooms and roasted red peppers with parmesan. I should've stopped eating after my 4th slice but devoured the entire pie as I couldn't stop eating it. I'd recommend getting there before 12pm since the parking lot gets pretty packed during lunchtime. read more

Friends of our introduced us to Puleo's about a month ago and we've back at least once a week since then.In a word, the food is sensational! Normally one would not think of salmon as a dish to get in a neighborhood bistro, but on 4 occasions, my wife said it's the best she's ever had. I've had several pasta dishes and each was prepared beautifully, everything tasted fresh. Their house salad is easily enough for two and definitely worth having. The place is a BYO, so that helps with the overall price-speaking of which, the place is moderate and a definite value for the money. The service has been wonderful each time we have gone. Very good experience. Went here last night with my wife and kids. The kids loved the margarita pizza and spaghetti marinara basil. My wife and I shared the fusilli with garden vegetables and vodka sauce. Dessert was pumpkin mousse with pecans. Amazing! The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. I just spent 10 weeks on assignment right up the road from here and had dinner here a few times. Its a typical North Jersey Italian restaurant except that it seems to lean more towards their dinner entrees than their pizza offerings. Its not just a pizza place that also does Italian dishes. I enjoyed the alfredo, but my sensitive stomach did not agree with the texture of their pasta. Might not affect everyone so badly. Its nice to support local small businesses, so I'd say give them a try. Its BYOB so be sure to grab a B to B. read more

I've gone here a few times, once for the pizza (A+), and once to have blackened salmon with pasta. Both times the food was served fresh and it was delicious. The only thing from giving it five stars is the parking, which is tight and can get crowded. If you want to beat the lunch crowd, come here before 12pm. Went here with the family on a Friday night. We started with fried calamari which was over fried and rubbery. We all had the brick oven pizzas. Their pizza is a thin crusted pizza that was way overcooked. The crust was too blackened to enjoy. The pizza itself was extremely dry and very bland. In terms of service. We were seated promptly and the waitress was friendly. However, she disappeared several times to sit in the front hostess area and watch tv. Several times we waited to get refills on drinks. In terms of price, the fried calamari was reasonably priced. The pizzas were expensive. The kids sodas were priced the same as the adults; on the pricey side. The one thing I noticed is that pretty much all of the other customers there were regulars. I turned to my wife and said, that's a club I would never want to be apart of. Recently visited Puleo's for dinner and loved the Oso Buco special. It was cooked to perfection and the flavor was bursting. I also had the mussel appetizer which was the perfect amount to enjoy pre dinner but I had to jump on the bread to musk up the remaining sauce it was so good.. The wait staff was great as well. They seemed to know right when I needed something but were never intrusive, Excellent food at a very reasonable price is always a huge plus. I love this BYOB. Went to Puleo's on a recent weekday evening with a few friends. I had often passed by but never ventured and boy was i glad I did. Typically on a weeknight especially a cold winter night you might only expect a few tables to be occupied, but here and not on this cold wintry night. The atmosphere was very lively, tables of 2, 4 and over 10 filled the restaurant. Our waitress was fantastic, very attentive and was able to direct us to some excellent appetizers and main dishes. I would highly recommend the Chicken Arturo, which had a nice spice kick as well as the Salmon Brick Oven. My friends had the Hotsy Totsy Shrimp and Chicken Parmesan and they raved about both. We also tried the brick oven Pizza, try it u r going to love it. Give Puleo's a shot next time u r going to nearby, but make a reservation for the weekend. read more
