There was a 'Happy Anniversary' card on our table signed by the staff, such a nice touch! Our waitress greeted us warmly and wished us happy anniversary and told us that for celebrating with them we'd receive a special dessert or a champagne toast. Another lovely surprise. We ordered cocktails and enjoyed their delicious bread service of freshly baked popovers. For dinner I had their Catch of the Day, Black Cod, wrapped in speck, served with saffron couscous. It could not have been more delicious. My husband enjoyed their Three Way Chicken, a dish so plentiful he took one piece home with him. We were both so pleased with our meals we didn't want to eat to excess, so our server offered to send our dessert home with us. The service, ambience and food were all wonderful. So glad we selected Silo as our place to celebrate!

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

I ordered the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, and while it was okay, it really lacked flavor. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't memorable. My daughter ordered the fish and chips with the loaded fries upgrade. She said the fish wasn't very good, which surprised me because she absolutely loves fish and almost never complains about it. She was hungry enough to eat it, but it definitely wasn't something she'd order again. As for the loaded fries, paying an extra $1.50 wasn't worth it. There were barely any toppings, so they were still dry and didn't really feel "loaded" at all. Overall, the meal was just mediocre. Nothing was terrible, but nothing stood out either, especially for the price. I might give Cheddar's another chance and try something different, but after this experience, it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to eat or find myself craving. There are plenty of other places I'd choose before coming back.

The Old School Family Dinner Still Lives!…read more I usually wait until I have been to a restaurant at least three times before publishing a review - that way I can be fair to both the restaurant and possible customers (anyone can have both good and bad days). So after a few visits over the past year (lock downs do get in the way) here goes Located in a strip mall off West 87th Street in Merriam, there is plenty of lighted off street parking and handicap access. Once inside you know you are in an old school family dinner. Booths line the sides and tables in the middle. Temptation Alert: You will have to pass the desert display on your way to your seat, so take a good look before ordering your meal! Should you let your eyes outpace your stomach, you can pick up that slice of pie to take home for a late snack (yes, I have done that too). Service has always been above average, but can drag a bit depending on demand. While I have had a couple of "mistakes" (over cooked burger and steak), they were rectified immediately and cheerfully. The menu pretty much covers everything you would expect in a dinner: all the breakfasts most everyone looks for, lunch specials, and dinners that run from light fare to steaks and meatloaf! With that in mind, I have never been disappointed in either the quality or quantity of any meal. My recommendations are Steak and Eggs for Breakfast along with Meatloaf for dinner. Prices are well in line with the neighborhood and similar restaurants. Considering recent lockdowns in the area, social distancing is easily covered, and all employees wear masks. They do have curbside take out and delivery. Do I recommend Pegah's? Yes, I think I am becoming a regular!

I believe that due to their business model of only having a few dishes and sides and doing them really well, instead of having a lot of options, is the secret. I know that some of the sides are a bit controversial, but I happen to like them all. I do tend to typically trade the Rice Ball for Steamed Veggies when I can. That was not allowed on this visit. - 5 stars The Atmosphere - Many of these are that modern, somewhat industrial, style that is all the rage. It is functional enough but not exactly comfortable. Nor does this style hold any real personality and you can tell that like so many other commercial places these are designed to hold ANY restaurant should they change hands or locations. Gone are the days where you could recognize the restaurant by its roof or design. Now the only thing to leave the impression is the Logo. Not taking points off for this... just wandering down the lost memory lane of Hut Rooflines and Bells in a façade. - 4 stars The Staff - This staff was incredibly busy and did a great job balancing all that they had going on. Everyone I interacted with was extremely polite and willing to help in any way possible. - 4 stars The rest of the story - So in Kansas City someone decided that if the KC Royals scored 6 or more runs in a game (including ones lost) any Hawaiian Bros Rewards Members could go in and get a free Classic meal. You could order the protein that you wanted in the meal but they were not allowing any other changes as they were just too busy. So, when I went in on a Sunday afternoon the place was packed. The staff was so busy that they were scrambling to do the other tasks, like fill the napkins/straws, or empty the lobby trash. I watched the staff of 5 be continuously slammed with orders and stay at a dead run the entire time I was in the building. I placed my order and attempted to stay out of the way. I had a 25 minute wait but this was only due to the amount of internal and drive thru orders that they were keeping up with. And I must say I was impressed. At the time of writing them Hawaiian Bros has rescinded this specific program and instead now has a reward of BOGO after the KC Royals score 6 runs or more. Let's just say I wouldn't want to be the exec that had to roll that one back!

Food was brought out quickly but staff was not very personable. This location was rather big but not many people eating there. There were a few dirty tables and the bathrooms were dirty as well. Overall, I wasn't actually too impressed by this location.

The other standout was the raspberry coconut chicken: crispy coconut-breaded tenders draped in a raspberry coulis with toasted almonds on top, sitting over a creamy slaw. Sweet and savory done right, though heads up if you're dairy-sensitive -- that slaw is loaded. Portions are generous, flavors are bold without being over the top, and everything tasted made-to-order rather than assembly-line. Will definitely be back to work through the rest of the menu. Eventually the get us seated in the main area. My wife ordered mashed potatoes and green beans as sides, and the mashed potatoes were cold. They took those back to fix, so we each tried some of her green beans. We both looked at each other in shock and said "These taste like fish!" Plus they were cold, so cold fish green beans. So when they brought out the warmed mashed potatoes we mentioned that, and they grabbed those to fix up, and asked us to check our steak. They were supposed to be medium, but were rare. So they took the steaks and my fries (the only thing edible so far). After 10 minutes the steaks were back, and looked good, along with a new order of the green beans, and we each got a replacement flame singed sliver of bread. So we taste the green beans, and now they taste like warm fish. So we got the manager again and I asked if they ever taste any of this stuff, and she didn't really know what to say. She said they'd take it off our bill, and we could have a free desert. Okay so back to the steaks, which were cooked right but too salty now. And that's when I realized they never brought back my fries. So we flag them down again, and eventually get the fries, which are good. The desert menu is a bunch of uninteresting goo, but we settle on something and get it to go. I pay the bill, tip 20%, and we get the heck out. Later we realize that they had accidentally added another steak entree to out order, then credited it off, just like the green beans and "free" desert, but their little machine calcutes the tip off the total before credits, so I actually payed a 50% tip. Unreal.
