My gutters had issues with overflow in certain spots, and the shortness of the downspouts meant that the water discharge was getting trapped in my side/front gardens, too close to my house, causing some water seepage issues in my basement. Darek came out and inspected my gutters with a drone, and showed me the pictures he took with it, pointing out how my gutters were old and had been installed with nails, most of which were coming loose and my gutters were just generally in rough shape. I wanted them replaced cause of this, and gutter guards added because I have a lot of trees next to my home, and my downspouts extended past my gardens to get the water further away from my house. The quote I got for all this work was a little higher than someone else quoted me, but based on the sheer amount of great 5-star reviews Darek has, and how friendly and knowledgeable he is, I decided to go with him for this job. We had a shed that needed to either be painted or sided. We had quotes for both. Once we met Derrick and received his quote, we knew immediately that his firm was the one for us. He had more expertise than any of the others we'd interviewed. He was also the only one that actually had color samples with him. Not only that, but he offered different levels of quality siding. He was quick to respond, priced reasonably, and got the job done quickly. The only thing I think could be improved is the communication between him and his brother. His brother came to do the job the first day and told us they would need to do downspouts in different places than expected, but never told me it would cost more than the original estimate. Then, when Derrick came to finish the job, he finally told me that there was an extra charge. I guess I could've assumed it would cost more since there's more gutter used, but it would've been good to communicate how much that was supposed to be before they went ahead and did it. But the gutters look good and he thoroughly explained how to use the heat cables. side note, heat cables are expensive, but they definitely help reduce the chance of Ice Dams, which are really expensive to remove and fix the damage they cause. Derek and his team are great at what they do. We needed to get a second down spout done for our roof gutter. It was tricky work coz there weren't too many options to out the spout at Derek came by, gave a quote in a few minutes and a week later the job was done! We were on the hunt for new gutters after purchasing our 150 year old 2-flat in July. Of course we put it off until last month, because every house in Chicago has ice dams right? We had 5 different contractors come out to look at the gutters and Derrick was not only on time, but very honest and professional. He walked us through why our old gutters were terrible, as new (old) home owners we really do appreciate professionals breaking down issues with us. His quote was very reasonable so we decided to go with Pulse. Before starting the project Derrick called us and suggested we get a roof inspection. Although we had a roof inspection when we bought the place, he suggested to get another opinion because the roof didn't look too great while he was up there. Turned out our first inspection was completely bogus and we did have to replace our roof. Derrick was able to schedule the gutters after the roof was installed and worked with our roofing guys to make sure that everything flowed seamlessly. We had another issue the day before the gutters were to be installed and actually had chimney sweepers out the same day that Derrick and his crew was installing the gutters and the two groups worked around each other easily. My wife and I have had less than stellar experience with contractors in the past, and Derrick made us feel comfortable, was not pushy, and did the job the right way. Lastly - our roof was in poor shape (I thought) and asked him for a roof quote. He explained to me that it was not in as poor of shape as I thought, and agreed to clean up the roof (caulk shingles down, and deal with a minor leak) for free! He threw it in with the gutter work. Derrick said that what I needed were very heavy duty heating cables in extended gutter and downspout runs only, and he was insistent that we use quality cable that he had years of experience with. We needed someone to unclog the dryer vent on our roof and Derrick climbed to our fourth floor apartment with a ladder, no complaints. Derrick and his crew are the most experienced gutter installers I have ever met! All the other bids I received had an option for oversize gutters because bigger is better right? My gutters hang from straps vs. screws so I was concerned that the additional weight, especially during winter, would be a problem. All the other installers said don't worry it will be fine, BUT it's your decision. Why? I don't hang gutters for a living. I'm relying on you as the professional to propose what's best. And that's what Derrick did. He advised me against using oversize gutters on my home, gave me a detailed explanation because I like facts, and saved me money because oversize gutters cost more. Did you know he also does great siding work? I had a small section that needed to be resided before attaching a new deck.
