We come to PB once a year around the holidays, and love trying new places. We are often looking for new places to grab a drink, or have coffee in the morning. We try to stay away from S-Bux in favor of trying and supporting the local spots! This is actually the second year in a row that we've come to Pump. We first discovered it last year during a combination of Yelp searches, and a little A-Frame sign they have along the boardwalk. The reviews were mostly all good, and we quickly understood why. LOCATION & INSIDE: Located in a little outdoor shopping center, the inside itself is pretty small. Amongst different areas, there is room for around a dozen or less people to sit inside. They have a little space against the wall across from the counter where they sell shirts and other items such as travel mugs, glass sippers, and mushroom coffee! There are a few additional tables out front, but I recommend taking your coffee down for a stroll along the beach if the weather permits. DRINKS: This is a pretty typical coffee shop in terms of offerings, with options including regular coffee, cold brew, pour-over, espresso, cappuccino, americano, latte, tea, tea latte, and hot chocolate. They have several options for most categories, including a Caramel Macchiato, (White) Mocha, and a Rose Lavender latte, to name a few. They also have seasonal drinks, which are currently a Tiramisu Cold Brew and a Peppermint White (Chocolate) Mocha. For tea lattes, they have items like a Chai Latte, Matcha Latte, and even a few variations of those. The first time we went (last year), we got hot drinks. This most recent time we went (a couple days ago) we went with iced lattes. The wifey ordered the Rose Lavender, and I got the French Vanilla latte. We both loved our drinks, and were very happy with our decisions. It's only a difference of $0.50 to go from small (12oz.) to large (16oz.) and +$1 to have an alternative milk. We love to use oat milk, as it helps create an extra creamy drink. While they don't typically have their own cold foam per-se, they were able to add some of the whipped mascarpone from the tiramisu latte on top. Honestly this was the perfect topper to an already incredibly creamy and delicious drink. They also added some dried rose petals to the lavender one, which was a nice aesthetic. FOOD: There are just a few options, including various croissants and vegan pastries. They don't have a full kitchen, so the stuff isn't freshly made in-house. For the animal friends in your life, they also offer a Puppaccino for $1! OVERALL: This is definitely a place worth stopping for some quality coffee. They generally have 2 people working, unless one's on break or something. The service is pretty casual, and can take a while if there's a line. They take an order, then make the drink. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, and this is definitely a place we have added to the rotation during our annual holiday trip! IG: @bbnem.eats

Stopped by Pump Coffee in Pacific Beach and really liked the vibe. It's a cute little shop with warm decor, fun touches, and a cozy atmosphere. Service was friendly and quick. I tried the 16oz French Vanilla Latte -- the flavor was really good, though I wish it had been a bit hotter. Still enjoyed it overall! A nice spot to grab a coffee and chill for a bit. I'd definitely come back to try more drinks.

ICED MINT MATCHA WITH OAT MILK, 16OZ. YOU GOTTA GET IT. Need I say anything more?! This was my first time experiencing Pump Coffee and, admittedly, when I was giving the menu a gander, my brain had a hard time putting mint and matcha together. But after reading Yelp reviews that recommended the mint matcha, I had to get it. IT WAS SO TASTY Y'ALL!! The perfectly sweetened matcha and the touch of mint flavoring flowed so beautifully together. I loved how balanced this drink was. As most other folks already have, I MUST recommend this yummy beverage! Quick shout out to the friendly staff and to the fact that this is a woman-owned business. I LOVE supporting these kinds of spots. For the folks who are looking for a cafe to work remotely at, there are a few tables on the inside as well as bench seating on the outside. A great spot to check some emails and crank out an hour or two of work. Overall, I highly recommend this spot to both locals and travelers alike!

Pump Coffee wasn't originally on our list of stops for my bachelorette weekend but after a slight detour of plans, we decided to make a stop here for coffee. Small little spot with only a few tables & chairs indoors and outdoors. This is more of a grab n go kind of place. Between the five of us, we got some matcha lattes, iced jasmine green tea and lavender rose lattes. We were all pleasantly pleased with our drinks. The female cashier and baristas were all so sweet. They congratulated me plus left a nice message on my cup too. :) There's an underground parking garage conveniently located next to Pump Coffee and I believe they validate up to two hours.

Cute little coffee shop close to beach! Service was good. I ordered an iced coffee with a ham croissant. The croissant was decent. The iced coffee was good. It was just surprising that there wasn't a bathroom for customers to use, so plan ahead if you need a bathroom.

Stopped by for an espresso and tea. Espresso gave me an unfamiliar slap at the first sip but started to ease out with a nice nutty body and subtle brightness afterwards. Served with wet saucer... The tea was very smooth and enjoyable, typical elegance found in Rishi teas.

Always on a lookout for a good coffee shop, and I just happened to stumble upon this one, and my experience was good. Ordered a matcha latte which later, I was asked by the young lady if I wanted to to try something new today, I said yeah, and I was given what I was told a Mint Matcha Latte, and it was delicious. Place was also cozy, and welcoming. Will definitely come back if I'm in the area. read more

A must have and try pump coffee is not your ordinary coffee. It has a unquie and pleasant taste. My go to would be the rose lavender ice, hot is amazing too but I love ice coffee and wow the mint matcha is perfect too. I love all the unquie flavors they have, so much more I need to try and lets not forget about their pastiers. They all look soo good, I've only tried the ham&cheese as for the chocolate crossiant. I'm craving one now ha. But also let's take a moment too appricate the sweetest humans the owners Ashley and Joey as for their staff. We wandered off the boardwalk following their stylish black signs, the thought of caffeinated goodness driving us on. Next to the roller skate shop, resides the best coffee in pacific beach! Vanilla oat milk latte, hazelnut mocha, regular mocha, all were amazing! Hot frothy goodness sweetened to perfection, but not too much, so the coffee was not overpowered. We tried the local baked goods they offered as well! Unique variety beyond the blueberry muffin, which was AMAZING. We also tried the orange guava muffin, which had a surprise filling of guava preserves in the middle!! The family behind us ordered the home made raspberry pop tarts and the kiddos were passionately exclaiming how amazing they were, we will have to try them next time! Both owners were working that morning, personable, kind, accessible, and very friendly! Was an absolute pleasure! We live in PB and have two favorite coffee spots, this being one of them. The owners are so kind and welcoming. My order is a bit extra, and I tend to apologize for all of the things I add to it, but Ashley, the owner, is always so kind. She reminds me it's my order, and she wants to make it the exact way I like it regardless of how picky it seems. She's truly fantastic!! They also have dog treats that my dog LOVES and the esthetics are adorable! Love this place and the people who own it/work there!!! read more

This place is a must try when visiting the SD area. We came here for a quick cup of coffee, and ended up getting a pour over and vanilla latte. Absolutely amazing! The pastries were also a hit, we enjoyed the vegan passion fruit donut and almond croissant. Stop scrolling and go here now! read more

New little shop in Pacific Beach the owners are a nice couple they designed the shop and are just starting out. They are very friendly and sweet and the coffee is delicious also they will design a drink for you if you ask them to that's pretty special.You can eat inside or outside and you're right by the ocean. I could smell the coffee walking by and that's why I stopped in it smelled so good that I needed coffee even though I didn't know I needed it that's pretty that's pretty good. Go there and support this young couple who have great ideas and are very willing to make whatever you would like. read more

Great espresso and coffee served with a friendly smile and lots of knowledge. Efficient and fast, crisp and clean. And the espresso is great. Treats also include a mint matcha latte and hot homemade pop tarts. They really know their stuff and the science around the pour over. Comfortable place to hang out and enjoy your drink. Their place was so easy to find! The coffee shop was so cute inside too. I felt like I wanted to sit there for a minute! The drinks were easily customizable. I ordered a Lavender White Mocha which wasn't on the menu, with Oatmilk, a mocha for my dad and their hazelnut mocha for my mom. Everyone loved their drinks! A nice hole in the wall coffee shop near the beach which could be hard to find as the sign writes "craft coffee". Coffee was alright and the vegan pastries were very good. No special syrups or anything. A staple but nothing spectacular. read more

The best lavender rose latte ever! Super cute interior in a strip mall with the gym on 2nd floor and other eateries in the shopping center. I found this little gem across from my hotel and I became a regular for my entire stay in SD. I know good coffee and when I find it there is no need to search for others. The coffee is smooth and perfect. I'm a aficionado of lavender and or rose lattes. Both in one even better. This one was the best I've had. My other favorite is in Spain. If you like the botanical flavors you can't go wrong with this choice. Or if you're like my husband who goes for the caramel latte you can't go wrong there either. Both were perfectly balanced. The other high note here are the most delicious Vegan pastries from savory to sweet I tried a few and all were sooo delicious. I ordered the iced drink of the day: the mint mojito cold brew. Wow. So very good! The staff was super friendly, the cafe was very clean and minimalist, and the signage was very clear and easy to see what is available. The shop has a great location with easy access and parking from Mission Blvd, and very close walking access to the beach. The friendly staff alone is why I would recommend this establishment. But you add on the delicious staples and fascinating unique drinks, this is a must-stop location. read more

On vacation from AZ so I had to find a good coffee spot...I ordered my standard iced latte and I got the Nutella dipped banana latte for my husband- they were both sooooo good!! First day in town, looking for some morning sustenance and found Pump Coffee. Small storefront but clean and really friendly. Joey opened this place in 2020 with Ashley, the pandemic job loss liberating them to follow their dream. Adorable little coffee shop close to the beach in PB. Love the boho style interiors and I was especially excited by the rose lavender latte. It was a perfect blend of my two favorite flavors. Established in 2020.

Like millions of Americans we woke up one day laid-off and in a pandemic; Feeling lost and uncertain about the future, we found ourselves still going through our daily motions of rising up, sipping our morning coffee, but instead of heading to work, we had this unique situation that allowed us to do what WE love for the day; So we thought why not do this everyday? RISE. SIP. SURF. became our new daily motions; and it was on the premise of doing what you love that Pump Coffee was born. Our mission is to bring back the mom & pop coffee shop and provide a place where the community can come together and discover what it is they love to do, over a cup of what we love. "do what you love, love what you do"

I will preface this review with the acknowledgment that this is the epitome of first world…read moreproblems. I actually love this place (I could have sworn I had reviewed positively before). I'm just extremely disappointed with how poor my experience was today because I had only super positive experiences previously and was looking forward to dining there this morning after sometime away, but holy hell ....today's experience has been so profoundly bad. Firstly, my husband ordered two breakfast burritos - one with bacon and the other with bacon on the side. I'll chalk this one up to miscommunication, but they put bacon in one, and bacon in the other too - and then added bacon on the side to the other and charged us $5.50 for the extra bacon. Again, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here and will be sure to communicate explicitly next time. They kindly made me a new one, but the new one had potatoes that weren't cooked thoroughly (likely to rush the food to me, so I acknowledge the difficulty here), however there was hardly any avocado. I literally had to complain again because I didn't believe there was any avocado at all. I wouldn't be as pissed if this weren't an EIGHTEEN DOLLAR breakfast burrito. Lastly, the coffee lids don't fit on the cups. We tried to put one on and ended up spilling the entire coffee. I chalked this up to an accident on our part, however another patron who observed our incident said "their lids don't fit the cup, right??" And I was like "oh so it wasn't just us??" And she was like "no, I almost spilled mine all over too." This random patron encouraged us to ask for a new cup of coffee as a result (thanks, random patron!). The Molly's team did kindly make us a new (albeit quite bitter) drink, which I appreciate. However, the lid was still an issue - it would spill out of the cup all over the rim between the cup and the lid when I'd try to take a sip, so I took off the lid entirely, but then was stuck with dealing with spills while walking around - I had to move at a snail's pace to prevent spills altogether. This was easier to deal with random leakage around the entire cup every time I'd sip with the lid on. Ultimately It was just a lose-lose with the ill fitting lid situation. All this to say - Molly's Team, yall were fantastic just a month ago. What happened? I understand food and services in the beach area stuff are often expensive and rarely good, but you guys are *too* expensive for this poor of service and quality. Two stars because at least the folks there are generally nice.

Pump Coffee is so worth the hype! Yes, there may be a line out the door, especially on weekend mornings...but the staff keeps things moving fast, and I had my drink in hand within minutes. The decor is super cute and beachy, perfect for the Pacific Beach vibe. I got the iced white mocha, and it was absolutely delicious... smooth, sweet, and just the right caffeine kick for my day.
