Its a 'gourmet' burger spot, like all of the others. Decent beer selection, but a few times they were out of my choice. Either that or they were hoarding the goods. If you sit on the patio (which is the best part of the restaurant) you'll quickly notice that their cast iron table and chairs are super uncomfortable, and wobble so bad you'll spill your beer. I have visited the Pump House many a time over the last several years and can honestly say that for the most part they serve a tasty meal accompanied by a solid beer. My personal favorites have become the burgers, beer cheese soup and their imperial stout. I think I would actually walk on broken glass for a small pour of their sour cherry imperial stout when it's in season. The atmosphere is always upbeat and the place is clean and comfortable. The pool tables upstairs are a nice place to get your crew together and have some space to yourself (pro tip: order your food up there and play pool, sit on couch, drink your brew and really relax). Seriously, I lust after The Pumphouse. If I had to eat one food only for the rest of my life, it would be, without hesitation, the Large Plate of Chicken Nachos ($10.99) in Wrongmont/Dongmont/Bongmont, Colorado, right off Main Street (which means you can & should walk there) cause the beers are tasty and they aren't watered down. It's a brewhouse, so they'll give you samples of beer to try so you can decide and the samples aren't small, so be prepared to get stupid. The Pumphouse is divided into two sections: 'The Pumphouse' and 'The Red Zone.' The Red Zone has the same menu but it's more of a sports bar-area and it makes me feel dirty. I've had all of the desserts and I'd smear the Mud Pie all over me and lick it off myself. The key lime pie's second best but you can't go wrong with the cheesecake dujour. Oh and a couple weeks ago, my boyfriend had the 'creamy spinach burger' (ha ha ha) and if I hear about it one more time, I might shove my boot in his head. The Pumphouse, with it's fun firehouse motif, is one of my favorite places in Longmont for a tasty burger and a beer. They have some great microbrews and a list of other awesome drinks along with weekly drink specials. (I tried the Peach Tree Tea the last time I was there which threatens to knock your on your booty if you're not careful). As for the food, I am a creature of habit and I usually stick to my personal favorite: fish tacos, but on my most recent trip I was feeling adventurous and ordered the Santa Fe turkey burger...yummmm. But, let's face it, put guacamole on anything and I'm bound to love it :). If you're looking more for the bar scene, their sports bar, the Redzone, is attached to the restaurant and usually pretty hopping. Longmont has a pretty sad list of choices when it comes to bars, but the Redzone does not disappoint. read more

Great food, horrible service. I have been 3x in the last couple of months and each time our waiter has been extremely rude. That's 3 different waiters that have treated us poorly and made us feel like a burden. I normally try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but the third time was what really set me over. We went there for a birthday dinner for my husband. It was 8:00pm, they close at 10:00pm. We had plenty of time. The waiter right away was rude, rushing us and being visibly annoyed when we weren't ready to order because we were chatting. I was so uncomfortable that I kept checking my phone thinking it might be close to close, but it never was. We ended up leaving at 9pm. Nobody refilled our drinks, nobody asked if we wanted dessert. The group we were with never complain, but when we left they commented on the hostility we experienced which made me know I was not overreacting. I went by myself since I have just moved here from California. I sat up at the bar and got served a cocktail very quick. The menu has a lot of good choices. I ended up ordering the Spicy Chicken Fettuccine and it was so good. Having the fresh jalapeños in there was just what I like and served with garlic bread. Not a bad place. We sat in the Red Zone surrounded by tons of televisions in a circle format. Quite convenient to watch any type of sport while your friends are watching another. We ordered their Friday night beer pitcher special and calamari as an appetizer. The appetizer comes with 2 dipping sauces; Asian hot sauce and some mayo concoction. Both were good. About 8 minutes into eating the calamari, the waitress comes with a second order and explained that the first order was too skimpy. So we had 2 plates of calamari for the price of one. We thought that was a great touch. I ordered their chili relleno with green pork sauce and it was very good. Their re-fried beans weren't good and I think it's because they are canned beans, not fresh ones. Mexican rice and guacamole were good. The green pork sauce was outstanding, especially for "bar" type food. Is their chef Mexican? Lol. The chili rellenos were great however I could have gone without the egg roll wrapper. So I guess their chef isn't Mexican... Lol. Who the hell wraps a chili relleno in egg roll dough? Regardless they were tasty. We'll be back! read more

I was not impressed with the Pumphouse Brewery. They had mediocre food and mediocre beer. If I were to guess someone was trying to cash in on the Longmont "brewery" fad. We only had a small wait to get a seat. The wait staff seemed to have too many tables for their ability. When asking questions about the beer either they didn't have time or didn't know a whole lot. My wife got a salad which is pretty hard to mess up, my son got a chicken sandwich that was a bit dry and my burger was over cooked and messy as well. Several times she said that she would come back with our check, but I saw her helping other tables....which is fine...she was just overseated. The beer selection was not as extensive as you'd think for such a big place. They sucked me with with "brewery", but they won't a second time. read more

I was impressed with the menu having some creative vegetarian options in addition to the requisite veggie burger. I got the risotto; it was deliously rich. Huge shavings of cheese and the drizzle of balsamic reduction was a tasty touch. Hubby got the curry hummus wrap with grilled veggies. It was huge, but the assembly of it didn't take into account the perfect bite. The shredded mozzarella was slimy. The sun dried tomato strings were a scary encounter. The grilled veggies were a small diverse grouping, a bit too much oil for me, but the hubby did not think so. The beer, we got 4 different beers. Only the IPA was good. The wheat was bland, not good, but drinkable. I got their take of a lambic which was described as a sour ale with apple cider. It was a train wreck. I love sours and apple cider; I think the concept could work, but they need to work on the recipe before serving to unsuspecting customers. Hubby got the brown/IPA; it was a brown. Couldn't detect any hop flavor. The service was great. There was some back and forth about letting us in with our 3 dogs, but, obviously, they let us in. A super pet-friendly place that will bring out some water and a treat for your pup. Human food was on point for a bar and grill. Portion sizes are gigantic, the fajitas will easily feed two and their guac was great. Their microbrew beers were all above average. 5 stars are hard to get from me. Really enjoyed a burger and the Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA here. I had the flamethrower, which lived up to its name for me. It was cooked a perfect medium. I could actually taste the habanero in the wing sauce they used, and the jalapenos were mercifully deseeded. The Red Zone is my local watering hole. I always enjoy their season brews, and their margs are consistantly good. My nibbles: fried calamari, seared tuna, and the steak sandwich. A while ago they a buffalo chicken sandwich which was yummers, but took it off. I don't know if it's because they know, but my boyfriend still orders it. Lots of screens with multiple games, clean surroundings ( I have no clue why someone stated the Red Zone makes them feel dirty), and some pool tables on the first and second floor. Great spot for lunch on a lovely Sunday afternoon. My group eats out all the time in Longmont so I truly cannot understand why we had never tried Pumphouse before. We all had a great experience there. First of all, the atmosphere is awesome firehouse related decor. Having worked for the Denver Fire Dept back in the day...I LOVED it. My ex was a Denver Firefighter and my daughter has his bunking gear. The food was outstanding as was the service. Desserts are decadent - my sister and I shared the Carrot Cake - divine! Got a table quick, server was on it, did a great job. Got us some beer samplers, quickly we made a choice and had our beers right away. Ordered hot wings, slightly above average, hard to compare to the wing guys. I had a burger gave it 4.5 stars, wife had buffalo chicken wrap gave it a 5 and daughter had chicken Mac and cheese. Chicken not cooked right she gave it a 4.... she says it was more like a pasta than Mac and cheese. Fries were average. Stopped into the Pumphouse after a long day of moving. Nothing improves the quality of a meal and its accompanying house-made beer quite like that unique feeling of dislocation and exhaustion. It took a curiously long time to be seated, must've caught them at a strange time between lunch and dinner. Our server was friendly, quick, and attentive even though she was basically alone in the dining room. The firehouse decor is charming and not over-the-top. First, the beer. There is a selection of 6+ beers brewed in-house that will satisfy anyone's tastes in your party that drinks beer. I went with the IPA, which was well-balanced, aromatic, and cut through my greasy meal. My mother had an Amber that was also well done, without any of the Fat Tire-aping chocolate finish that's too popular in ambers. If nothing on their list catches your fancy, they have a lovely selection of other local craft mainstays. Second, the food. The menu spans the pub classics with a great selection of burgers singing lead in the middle of the menu. My mother had the Fish'n'Chips, which comes with a huge pile of crispy fish and fries - well seasoned and well cooked with a lovely tartar sauce on the side. My father went with the Goat Cheese Salad, and it lived up to its name with a healthy snowfall of tangy goat cheese starring on a good portion of salad. I went with the Brew House burger, because I am finding more and more that my body runs best on a high-octane mixture of ... mostly burgers. This burger was loaded up with the regular fixings, with a perfectly medium rare patty hiding under a veil of bacon, mushrooms, and melted cheese. You get a side of beer mustard, and I think the acid and salt of it should just be on the burger itself - the richness of the roasted garlic mayo, swiss cheese, steak sauce, and mushrooms is a bit one-note. This was a lovely spot to relax, have a great nosh and a sip, and take a load off. I've driven past countless times on 287, now I know there's at least one reason not to just barrel through Longmont. read more

Not the fare I was hoping for, for a Sunday Brunch, but altogher not bad either. We ended up here because our 1st choice was closed. Ordered Nachos, after considering a wrap or a sampler platter of appetizers. What I really wanted to try were the Dumplings/Potstickers, but my husband was appalled (I can eat them for days on end without tiring of them, and this would have been my 5th day of dumplings.) The nachos are piled high, full of seasoned ground beef (if you choose to order them that way) and generously smothered in beans and cheese, guac and sour cream, if you get it. My only complaint is the sloppy addition of fresh jalepenos, scarce and not seeded. They spicy buggers would be better seeded, diced, and sprinkled. read more

Before we go any further let me just say that the sole reason that the Pumphouse gets its 4th star, is because it is located in Longmont....which is fairly restaurant deficient. In any other town, I'd give this place three stars, but it definitely fills a much needed niche in Longmont. In any case, the Pumphouse brewery has a lot of seating, which is usually full, its own sports-bar (the RedZone), and a good selection of its own beer. The beer is the best part about this place by far, and is strong (which is good since it is also somewhat pricey). In my experience however the food is over-priced and always leaves something to be desired. Then again, I'm a vegetarian, so if you eat meat, your experience will probably be different. Best burger in Longmont so far. I got the Reuben burger (clearly I'm fascinated by this concept- It might be physically impossible for me to NOT get a burger that has corned beef and sauerkraut involved). Toppings aside, the burger was perfect. Nice and moist and beefy tasting. My boyfriend, on the other hand, got the Flame Thrower burger (which had habanero-chipotle wing sauce, sauteed jalapenos & gorgonzola crumbles) and I was concerned he was going to die in the process of eating it. Before he ordered he asked the waitress how hot it was, and she said not very. The boyfriend is not a wuss when it comes to hot food, but he had to struggle to finish his burger. He said it was good, but that the waitress has radically underestimated the heat. The only thing that was kind of a disappointment were the sweet potato fries... We believe they might have been frozen at some point in their life, and they weren't as crisp as we would've liked. They were tasty, I just think they could've been better. The drink specials were good, the boyfriend really liked whatever beer it was he got, and the oatmeal cookie shot was delicious. We'll definitely be going back. read more

Not a fan of this place. Came in with family last night, waited 30 mins for the patio. We finally sit down and order drinks, they take 20 mins to come out. Once we had ordered our food this had taken over and hour to come out. Finally I go inside and complain, our waitress was nowhere to be found. After complaining about the situation they finally bring our food out within minutes. The food is so cold as well, all of it. I let the manager know who does give us a round of drinks for free, we were not going to wait another hour for new food. About the food, the pork ribs were so dry, no good. And I ordered the cabo fish tacos. First of all I couldn't even eat it as a taco because of how large and over stuffed they were. I was so irritated. I didn't even bring home the left overs I was so disgusted. I will not be going back. read more
