This place is fantastic. I went here for the first time yesterday and will definitely be coming back. I'm very picky about my veggie burgers, and this place has some of the best I've had in Colorado (Ted's and Red Robin have some good one's too IMO). I ordered their Santa Fe burger (with a garden burger instead of turkey burger) and got a whole grain bun. I also subbed sweet potato fries for the regular ones. SO good! Their fries are nice and thick steak cut so you taste the food beyond the fried coating. Their selection of beers was huge! I got the Scotch Ale (very high alcohol content for a beer). Second best beer I've had in my entire life! It gets close to a dark beer but doesn't cross the line, is deliciously smoky and not hoppy. Tastes a bit like the Sam Adams summer seasonal beer called Bonfire Rauchbier, but better as it is more smoky. I didn't check to see if they sell it by the growler, but if they do, I'm picking one up. I went during the lunch rush on Labor Day so it was busy, but we were seated well within 10 minutes. As busy as it was, we had good service and our food came out pretty quick. I liked that waiters weren't screaming obnoxious happy birthday songs like they have to at Red Robin and it wasn't as fancy as Ted's. Perfect mid ground. It's nice to have a brew-pub here in Longmont. The Pump House has a great micro-brewed selection of beers - try the Ignitor Pale Ale, you won't be disappointed. The Red Ale is also very tasty...and ask for what's seasonal, as you might find some tasty brews! The menu is OK - nothing too spectacular, but nothing really that bad. Typical bar food - I would stick to the burgers or salads, and avoid some of the specials as they really aren't that "special." They have a great Bratwurst meal that's not on the menu - ask your server if it's available. read more

The food here is great. I recommend the burgers. I tried the chicken cilantro lime soft tacos at first, but they weren't very good. The waitress happily replaced them for me and was very kind about it. As replacement, I got the spicy chipotle burger, which was great. I got the spicy chipotle sauce on the side and added it as I ate to control the spice level. With it, I had a Margarita that was not as sweet as i like and not very strong, but not that bad. The prices are average for a sports bar: 10-15$ for an entree and around 4-7$ for a drink, but they have happy hour specials and whatnot. My only complaint is the atmosphere. It was super loud, but i went to a sports bar during football playoffs, so I expected as much. read more

The Pumphouse is a great place for a burger and beer. We have always had good food and polite waitstaff here. The food is always well-prepared, though sometimes the cooks have a tendency to go a little overboard with sauces on burgers. Dripping sauce is OK, but swimming in sauce is not. My wife has a favorite sandwich, and even when it was briefly off the menu, the cooks would still make it up for her. Friday or Saturday night can mean a wait, but we are usually seated within 25-30 minutes. read more

We went last night . The food was Good . The staff need to be trained . From the hostess to the waitress! My Wife ordered a Beer when it was served at room temperature. We told the waitress She just brought a Chilled glass and poured the warm beer into the Chilled glass like that was going to chill it to a desired temperature! This has/had always been my favorite Longmont restaurant, with a large menu, reasonable prices, and very good food. Lately not so much. Service is sometimes good, sometimes real bad. We've ordered drinks that were "forgotten". We ordered one of my favorites - the appetizer of pork carnitas tacos and they came with barbecue meat (with bar-b-que sauce). Recently ordered grilled shrimp and it came fried. The big disappointment lately, though, is that they really raised their prices beyond reasonable. If you feel $16 is not too much for a SANDWICH, then maybe you've just come from New York. read more

I really like the Pumphouse...and I would really REALLY love to like it more. We lived in Longmont for just about a year and were frequent patrons. They brew their own beer (which is usually very good) and have pretty darn good food. The reason I say I would love to like it more is because on more than one occasion, we've been pretty sorely let down. There were a few different visits where we ordered a buffalo burger on a whole wheat bun with sweet potato fries. On one occasion, the waiter brought us a burger that was not buffalo and was on the wrong bun. Another time - and after waiting entirely too long for the food to come - both of our buffalo burgers were grossly overcooked...to the point of being nearly inedible, were barely warm and the fries were soggy and cold. We both ate part of the burger because we were so hungry from our long wait but then complained to our waiter as soon as we were "checked in" upon. Good news though: they did offer to remake our burgers (to which we graciously declined) so instead they comp'd part of our meal and got a personal apology from the manager. I was pleased with how they tried to make it right. Unfortunately, it's often the bad experiences that stick out...but I will say that we had far more good experiences than bad (please note: the 4 star rating). Their Green Chile Cheese Fries NEVER disappoint and they have a great selection of food: burgers, pasta dishes, great salad choices, lots of sandwiches and even a few mexican food option. Nearly every "craving" could be sated at The Pumphouse. Please don't let the negative outweigh the positive: I can almost guarantee you will have great service, great food, and excellent beer. Had lunch here but have not checked it out yet at night. Opted to sit in the Red Zone area as it was opened early for a Rockies playoff game. Bar area was clean and Jon, the bartender was on point...asking if i'd like a refill when I got down to below a quarter of my glass...that in itself is worth a star these days. Ordered the Chipotle Bacon burger..a word of warning to those with bland palates...this is spicy. I however, love spicy...the only thing that could have made this better was if they had cooked it to medium as requested instead of well done. Their flashpoint IPA was excellent...hoppy with a nice piney finish. I'll be back. read more

The Pumphouse has improved since we've moved here in 2001. The servings are huge so my wife and I usually split something then she gets a salad and I get a beer. Love to go during football season! Lots of TVs with NFL and college games on (depending on the day). read more

I found this place completely by accident when I was in Denver for work last year. I got out of work late and was meeting family for dinner and this ended up being a good meeting point for all of us. Their beers that were on draft were fantastic and the ability to order up to 64oz for dinner was definitely a beer snob's dream. I decided on their amber lager and it was fantastic. It had just the right balance of hops and flavor to compliment the foods I had with dinner and it was chilled to the right temperature. I ended up ordering the burger cooked medium, with a fried egg, bacon, and cheddar cheese on it with a side of ranch. It was cooked just right with the right seasonings and balance of all the flavors. I also tried some of the fish and chips that other members of the table had ordered. It was cod and tasted very fresh given the fact that we weren't that close to the ocean. Their patio space outside is rather large and we had great weather the night we were there. I would be very interested to visit this place during football season to see what they do for college and Bronco games. Everything was so good that I have made two trips here when I have been in Denver for various reasons. read more

We have been semi-regulars at the Pumphouse over the years. They tend to have their ups and downs, and to us, they are currently down. Service drops off, and they seem to have a high turnover on waitstaff. The steak nachos have the potential to be great, but the last two times the steak was actually raw. We have gone from being once a weekers to "maybe we'll try again in 5 years". Can't get away from this, one of Longmont's only good "sports bar/brew pubs". The menu was varied and the food that arrived at the table was perfectly prepared and delicious. Visiting from out of town and this is by far the best meal I have had in Colorado. They have daily specials on drinks every day of the week and happy hour Monday-Friday. Everything is delicious but I highly recommend the grilled romaine and steak salad. While the food was delicious what absolutely made me take the time to write the review was our server, Caroline. She had quality suggestions with a vibrant personality. She was genuine, kind, and just an absolute gem of a server. Been twice and really like this place. Excellent beer (especially the IPAs; the seasonal hooligan double IPA is one of the best of that style I've had). Food is quite good. Very burger heavy menu. I had the flamethrower burger with wing sauce and jalepenos on a previous visit and quite liked it. Some Tex Mex options too; I had chile rellenos (a poblano pepper stuffed with jack cheese, wrapped in an egg roll skin and deep fried, smothered in green chile) today, excellent example of basically the least healthy thing you can have for lunch. So good. Good refried beans, a bit spicy, rich, flavorful. Rice had a number of crunchy kernels, that's not what you want. Service inconsistent. On my first visit, it was out of this world good in professionalism and responsiveness; today, slower and nothing special. But not bad. Parking isn't great; downtown Longmont at lunch seems pretty congested. I would definitely recommend this place for the food overall and the beer. It's a good option. read more

I was in Longmont for the first time on a business trip, hoping to find some good local grub and brew. The hotel clerk suggested the Pumphouse, so I went. It was pretty crowded and I had to wait for a table, but once seated, I received excellent service. The local microbrew I sampled was smooth and tasty, with a high alcohol content, and thoroughly enjoyable. For my dinner I ordered the house cheeseburger and regular fries. That burger was damn near as good as it gets! Thick red tomato slices and real LEAF LETTUCE! Amazing - almost never seen on a burger these days, and SO much better than the tasteless coarse shredded iceberg variety usually served by other restaurants. The bun was seemingly fresh-made - dense and yeasty. The patty was 1/2 lb of yummy Angus beef, and topped with my favorite cheese. The fries were potatoey and crispy, and not greasy at all. All in all a delicious experience! I shall be back. More research is necessary in the brew department... read more

This place has a few positives with lots of outdoor/indoor seating options, and a convenient location on Main Street. I happened to be there on a night where there was a "ladies drink special" happening, so I enjoyed a glass of wine for 3 bucks. Happy daze. The reason behind the lackluster star rating comes down to two reasons: 1. The food. It was just alright for me. It filled my belly to answer the call of hunger, but it was nothing to write home about. So, end writing home about the food. All you need to know is that after I was finished eating, my stomach said..."MEH". 2. The outdoor tables and their god awful HOLES. Seriously, why do the tables have holes in them? More importantly, why are these holes the perfect size for forks to fall through?? I also felt like my glass was unstable the whole time, and we must have heard 3-4 other tables dropping utensils. Maybe someone once thought they were a good design option, but seriously, fill the holes and stop the frustration! I might consider coming back for a second attempt at dinner here, but if nothing else, the atmosphere is fun and the drink specials are cheap - moral of the Pumphouse, drink your dinner and stay away from the holy tables!. read more

I came here for a business lunch ordered a chicken caesar salad and a side of their Thai coconut bisque which was the soup of the day. If you like coconut, curry and spice you MUST try this soup. I liked it so much that when we returned for happy hour later that day I grabbed a bowl to go. Everyone at my table seemed to like what they ordered for lunch. The chicken wrap, burger and French dip looked tasty. During our return back for happy hour we ordered a flight of their seasonal beers. I had no problem downing a glass of their Mango-Pineapple Wheat and strangely found myself going back for sips of their seasonal sour. It tasted kind of like a pickle juice beer. The staff is friendly and ladies the bathroom was extremely clean. I don't see myself dying to come back unless they have the Thai soup again and the outside patio open. read more

I have been to the Pumphouse probably about a dozen times now. They have rotating beer choices, and when ever they have a dark beer I always choose that one. Their Chocolate Porters, and Stouts are to quote Quagmire "Giggity!". They honestly have some really great beer here, please for all that his holly if you go try the house beers!! Their food is good, it's not great, but it's good. My wife though loves their steak gorgonzola pasta, I tried a bite and though it was OK, but she LOVES it. Probably the best thing I've eaten there is there "drunken" ribeye, which is very tender and you can taste the beer in it. For a 12oz ribeye at that price, it is well worth it. I've had their hamburgers, brats and other items and while they are always good, they are never great. We have taken our kids there several times, and they like the food. Kids items come with a package or Oreo's so it's like dessert is done as well. Nice. If you go there during lunch, expect to get in and out in a reasonable time. So it makes it a nice lunch spot.. and we all know once in a while you NEED a beer during lunch. All in all I would rate the food 3 - 3.5 stars and the beer 4.5+ stars. Friendly staff, reasonable food prices, service is always quick enough, and the beer is really good. OO And if you go when they are brewing... ahhhhhh the smeeelll... MMmmmmmmm.... But I love beer, so the smell of brewing beer has been known to give me a chubby. read more

A overall good place to watch a game with above average bar food, and well priced micro beer. Pumphouse is a little loud, but plenty of TV's and a great place to watch a game. They always have a beer special to try something new, and they have good micro beer. The food is above average bar food, but nothing about the food is special. The fish and chips are actually pretty good. Not a place to go just for the food, but the outside seating is nice, and the beer is well priced.
