This location seems to lack good management. Staff seem restless and wander back and forth- not a comfortable dining environment. Our pizza order was wrong (gave sautéed onions instead of red onions). Under cooked pies, the center of every pizza plate had a liquid puddle (kinda gross) and not enough sauce- almost like they watered down the pizza sauce. I dont recommend this place, which is unfortunate for the future of Pupatella bc it has the makings of a great hang out spot but if a restaurant cant make great pizza, people have a LOT of other options for pizza. read more

Sigh... i wish i could rate 3.5. Pupatella is legit one of the best possible DMV pizza spots comparable to what you will experience in Naples, Italy. I mean, im so impressed with the crust, cheese and sauce combo. I usually order a marherita which they call a classic DOC. Super good quality pizza. However, Anyone that follows my reviews understands how much I value service. That's where the mosaic location struggles and its tough with such a young staff who don't understand how to ensure the best quality service. Which shouldn't be an issue for take out orders. Thankfully when I was there, a manager witnessed my discontent and totally redeemed my experience. Of course I'll return to pupatella and then I hope I can increase my star rating. I gave this place another chance tonight and both times again a bad experience.Our party of three ordered three pizzas two arrived and the third pizza my son end up waiting half hour for it. Above all the waiting it wasn't worth the wait because the pizzas were cold and bland very disappointing. The service was not the best either server apologized but didn't really mean it. Best Pizza you will ever eat! So light and flavorful, simply amazing. Only caveat is that you are bothered every TWO MINUTES by an employee. They are always nice, but me and my husband were really bothered by the constant hovering around us, refilling our water, and checking if they could take our plates away even though there was still pizza on it and I had a box to put my leftovers into. It was not even busy so why could we not eat in peace? Ask to management: please train your employees to only check in with a table 2-3 times tops! For a billion years we've loved the Pupatella on Wilson and were delighted when Mosaic opened so much closer to our home. We went in the other day for late lunch, and it was not busy. However, the service was absolutely abysmal. This was not our first visit, nor our first experience with bad service here. This is the first time I have felt compelled to say something about it. For some reason our server was absolutely riveted by whatever was happening with a blender at the bar. He would just hang there, at the bar, watching the bartender and this empty blender. Fascinating. My husband finally went up to the front counter to order and this same server said oh I'm your server I'll be right there. No. He absolutely could not pull himself from this blender. Occasionally another server would stop at the bar also, but none was so riveted as ours. It was ridiculous. We had to get up and ask for everything because, even though we were sitting in sight of the bar, this blender held all his attention. If Pupatella is going to insist on using servers (this is a newer concept for them, as you used to order at the counter and get your own water etc), they REALLY need to work on training. We love their pizza, but it is never a really great experience. read more

We found ourselves in Mosaic looking for pizza. With Oath closed, we decided to give this place another try. I was happy to see that they now have a "wait to be served" sign, but boy, do they mean it! One server is going around us as we're waiting, attending to tables without even acknowledging that we're standing right there in front of him. Not a "hi," not a "I'll be right with you," nothing! It's as if we don't exist! We should have left right then... I had to stop him and ask him if we were going to be helped. We finally get seated, and then we wait for the menus to come. Finally, he takes our order, and the pizza comes after, you guessed it, quite a bit of wait. Someone drops off the pizzas on our table, but we don't have plates, silverware, or napkins on the table. We wait while our pizzas get ice cold, and we finally get what we need after I go and find some random staff member and returning. Our waiter apologizes and says he's very busy. I look around, and while the restaurant is not empty, it's also not overly busy. If overpriced mediocre cold pizzas are your thing, this is your place! For us, we won't be returning. read more

I wanted to like it so bad but wasted my hard earned money on a soggy pizza and ridiculously wet Brussel sprouts (easy on the balsamic, it was so strong and liquidy I couldn't eat more than 2 without getting watery eyes). The pizza dough somehow seems burnt in the right way so I was excited but like other reviews... so soggy and zero structure. We got a plain cheese ( no other toppings to weigh it down) and it just bent like a loose paper. We asked them to fix the temperature and they said only the general manager can do that who comes to the restaurant only occasionally. Clueless and incompetent staff. Very happy they opened so close to my house. I used to have to drive quite a bit to get to one of their locations. We ordered pizza and bruschetta to go and it is just as excellent as their other locations. Being from Germany, and having real Italien food easily accessible, makes it hard to find good pizza in the states. Egh. I hate to give this place a bad review. Their pizzas are great, not amazing, but good. It's just that on my last visit, I was waiting for my order near the plexiglass prep area and saw a bunch of flies (fruit flies?) flitting around all the ingredients - the Parmesan, the basil, the sauce, and some other bowl (which may have been ricotta?) all there. It was kinda gross. The handler saw me stare at it and make a face and proceeded to wipe the counter, but that was it. It really made me kinda grossed out watching it. Pizza is usually reeeeeeally good at Pupatella. However, the pizza was served soggy, twice, even after I complained that the pizza wasn't cooked all the way through. This place has recently gone from an order/pay process to a service at table only and it has significantly impacted things not in a good way. What used to be a pleasant and easy dinner has turned into a slog waiting for the servers to bring basic things like water. They are polite and trying, but young and obviously poorly managed. The pizza remains good and we like the brussel sprouts, but we will be taking this one out of our rotation for our Friday pizza nights. read more

I was in Philly a few weeks and ordered the mushroom pizza (I added sausage) from Pizzaria Vetri. Sooo delicious. I thought I'd try Pupatella's take. I ordered the mushroom pizza and added sausage, as well. I was pretty disappointed. The pizza itself lacked any flavor. I know I ordered a mushroom pizza, but there were A LOT of mushrooms on the pie. Overall, pretty bland. I will say the service was pretty good. Two thumbs up for that. read more

Really bad service. It says wait to be seated. No one ever comes. They walk past you. They ignore you. Seat yourself. Get your own menus. Take your own order. Terrible place. Ignorant staff. Lazy too. Tables do not get bussed quick enough. Food takes forever to come out. They do not ask what you want to drink. They've got plenty of empty tables and lots of waiting parties. Just need more attentive employees. Tried to order more food at the counter but as soon as you approach they walk away. It's like they don't want business they way they are lacking in every aspect. When we were there a few months ago and one of the cooks sneezed all over the food behind the counter a couple times I thought that wasn't great, but then the food wasn't very good.
