This place was good. It wasn't too busy when we got there. They have limited seating but we were seated right away. Service was friendly and helpful with menu items. Went for the pupusas. They were good. Feel like it had more cheese than the other ingredients I ordered in it. They are pretty big too! So they filled me up fast. Hot Freaking Dang. Flew into Midway about 730pm for a drive to South Bend, and decided this time I was actually going to get something decent to eat instead of my usual move: driving out to Gary, realizing I forgot to eat, and getting stuck with gross fast food. Found Pupaseria on Yelp and yeah, it was like 2 miles away in the wrong direction but PUPUSAS, ya know? Turned out to be a great decision, this place was super legit. Ordered a loroco and a chicharron - momma didn't raise no fool - and they were everything a pupusa should be. Plus great red and green salsa and a literal baggie full of curtido. The reason I'm giving this place one star is due to their inability to answer their phone. The front staff is young, which could be why they are short-tempered and quick to hang up. I've sat in the restaurant, watched them look at the phone and purposely not answer. Furthermore, there has not been a time where they don't tell me the carry-out orders are a minimum hour and a half. Interestingly enough, when I walk in, it's a 25-minute wait. Lastly, they ask for payment over the phone and never ask for verification in person. One could easily dispute these charges. It's a shame as the food is better than most places around the area. Very friendly environment! Twist on Spanish food. Beautiful and comfy space to eat. I was very much surprised to see the similarities in the Mexican food but the taste is distinguished! I had something sweet and and salty but it was perfection' and the best price was the cost! I found the meals made with integrity! Do not hesitate, you need to come eat here! These were, hands down, the best pupusas I have ever had. We ordered a Rajas (poblano peppers and cheese), a Revuelta Chicharron (pork with beans and cheese), and an Asada (steak with cheese). The fillings were excellently seasoned and the accompanying Curtido, (lightly pickled carrots, cabbage, and jalapeños) paired perfectly with the pupusas to make for an outstanding meal. Local spot with amazing food! The chicken pupusas are my favorite! They also have an amazing chicken "quesadilla". The reason for the " " is because the quesadilla isn't traditional. It's a sheet of masa that they stuff with cheese, fold over, then fry: Sort of like a calzone. It's then topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and cotija cheese. *chefs kiss* My only con about this place is the take out. They serve the freshly made pupusas in styrofoam containers. These pupusas are delicious and quite large compared to other I've had. I had a chicken and a pork w/bean pupusa and both had a balanced amount of meat and cheese. The restaurant has a small dining area but is perfect for a great to-go meal. I wish they were a little more buttery, but I definitely think they make up for that in flavor. I'm not from the area but recently started a job around here. I was looking at places I can do a pick up through Uber Eats real quick for my lunch break since I was so busy. The food was bomb. I wish I could add more things on when I order make-my-own pupusas. I've ordered from there twice now. You have to order really ahead for them because they always get packed. They say the order will be ready at a certain time but it's always late. The food is always hot and fresh when I get it though. The place is small. They should definitely open a bigger place with more seating. read more

This pupusa was very tasty. If you don't know what a pupusa is well it's a thick griddle cake or flatbread from El Salvador and Honduras or pancake with meat and cheese stuffed inside. I ordered carry out, service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. Food is cooked to order. The pupusas can best be described as a filled pancake, various fillings between a couple of gorditas. I tried chicken, revuelta (shredded pork, beans, and cheese), and zucchini. The pupusas are filling, likely a Salvadoran comfort food. I liked the zucchini and chicken best. We also tried the Cubano torta, just okay. After trying the pupusas, I can understand why crepes are on the menu. I'm so happy this is so so far from where I live. I really am. I can't believe there is a place this great in Chicago. This is such a cute little place with good lighting and a very attentive staff. The atmosphere of the cafe is very inviting, with neat tables and a very, very large television on the wall. Now I've had my share of good pupusas, but never had I had some of the items that were afforded to me. They make a pumpkin flower pupusas. Let me say it again: a pumpkin flower pupusa! I just had to try it and so I did, along with the spinach and loroco flower. Now I will agree with everyone else that the pupusas made here are large and I was greedy. I am used to getting a smaller one with a side of rice and beans and of course, cabbage. We didn't wait long (another plus and minus of fresh food) for the pupusas and I was so happy about that because I was starving! Everything tasted so, so good. I'm not exaggerating. The cheese was so good and flavorful and everything was just perfect. It hit the spot and made me homesick for New York and Central America. Their stake pupusas are delicious! Their pork is a bit salty. Their salsa verde has no flavor. I suggest you get the red or tomato salsa. I think they need to work on updating their hours. On the door, it says they closed at 9. But that's not true. I came in on a Sunday and they close at 7pm. I saw many customers being turned away at 6:30pm. I haven't had a good Pupusa in the Chicagoland area in years because they are not available on the south side and the last place closed like 10 years ago. This place was a very yummy find. The Pupusas are bigger than I am use to ( this is a significant plus). I ordered one carne asada 2 revueltas ( beans and chicharrón) and 2 cheese. The carne asada one was amazing and the revueltas were good also. I don't usually ear cheese ones but my husband said they were good. I also ordered frijoles with crema and plátanos maduros ( fried plantain-sweet). This took me back to being little... yum! A group of friends and I stopped in here while volunteering in the area, and it was unique and delicious. I had never had Salvadorian food, and it was great to try. They have a variety of options and of all the different pupusas tried, we all enjoyed them! I thought the salsas were delicious and it was nice they gave you complimentary chips to start.
