OVER PRICED AND OVER RATED! I had been going to this salon for over 10 years. One day recently, Employee was rude to us when we went in to pick up a product. Yelled, complained to us, then to the owner. Then the owner EMAILED me and said do not come here anymore. Highly unprofessional to not get my side of the story. Find somewhere else to go. Place is overpriced for services which can be found elsewhere nearby for much Lower prices. Owner nearly always arrives late, runs overtime on services, is late for next customer. She is organized, reasonably priced and never cancels, so if you need someone you can count on for regular bookings, she's your girl. It's a very cute shop in the Village area of La Mesa, just down the street from Chase Bank. The color she suggested came out beautifully and she had great expertise. Having my hair cut and having the color and cut done well, always makes me feel better. Plus, she is warm and friendly. I highly recommend. I actually started having Kelly do my hair when she was at a different salon. I followed her when she came to Pure Expressions because she is wonderful! She cuts, colors and highlights my hair and has really improved not just the look of my hair but the health as well. I love my hair now and haven't been able to say that for a long time. She also cuts my daughters hair and does our brow waxing which just makes it super convenient. Aside from her great work she is really nice and great to work with and talk to. I moved to San Diego a year ago and have had a challenging time finding someone who knows how to cut my wavy hair. My daughter recommended Mandi at Pure Expression and I tried her for the first time this week. I love the cut! She did exactly as I asked her and it turned out really well. She also colored my hair and it was a little darker than I wanted so I contacted her and she was totally agreeable to me coming back so she can add a little more blonde. I saw Donna based on a friends recommendation. I'm a natural blonde and had an over the counter wash out brown color in when I went there to go back to blonde. Big mistake! I brought pictures of the natural blonde color I was going for and walked out not even noticing a difference. The highlights were so few and tiny you couldnt even tell I had changed my hair from the previous brown color. I then went back to have it fixed considering I was charged over $100 and my hair looked no different. BIG mistake my hair got so fried my best bet is to just shave my head and start fresh. It's going to take me years to grow out my hair to be healthy. Brushing out my hair is now a 30min. challenge of tears and ends in my brush being filled with hair balls, that's pretty bad considering I have short thin hair. read more
