If you're driving down Leisure Town Rd, you might just miss it so keep an eye out for this bakery across from the fire station! I've been looking for a place that has dutch crunch rolls around this area and I've finally found it. My pastrami and swiss with the works sandwich was great for lunch and a pretty decent size for $6.45. Plus they take credit cards which is convenient. I'll definitely be stopping by again to try some of the baked goods, especially since it's right around the corner from work. Just one downside is that it's kind of small inside the bakery, so if you're looking for a place with more of a sit-down feel or somewhere to catch up with friends, check out their other location in downtown Vacaville by the library. We went for breakfast sandwiches/pastries, upon asking the young lady at the counter if the breakfast sandwiches were different than what was shown, she stood there clueless. Her response was that they "slap an egg" on the sandwich, apparently that makes it a "breakfast sandwich". Additionally, they had a sandwich list, which another employee commented that many of the items on the list are no longer available. So, why is that list even out? We drove almost 15 minutes to this bakery and ended up settling for a danish, cinnamon pastry, a filled croissant and coffees. If you're looking for the most delicious pastries in Vacaville... This is the place to go! There are two locations of this bakery: one on Town square (the heart of Vacaville) and the other on Eubanks (where the magic happens). I usually go to the Eubanks location for a quick stop, but the Town Square is bigger & has more seating in case you want to eat in. The Eubanks location is out in the "business park" area of town. It's a small little shop that you could miss if you're not paying attention. It is across the street from the fire station. Parking is along the street, but since this is a smaller place, there is always a place to park even during peak times. When you walk in, you'll immediately be in front of the glass case with all the delicious fresh baked pastries. I think this is the main place where they actually make most of the bread (& then transport it to the town square shop), so sometimes there isn't someone at the counter right away. They do make sandwiches & have breads (which I am sure is fantastic) but I usually go in for the sweet stuff. Prices are very reasonable for the quality that you are getting. Each pastry is under $2, & other pastries may range between $1-$5. Our favorite danishes: Cherry & Peach. But we've tried them all & they are very yum! Our favorite specialty bread: the jalapeno cheese bread is to die for... We love it! We often get one for each of us & a third to half (don't judge, you would too if you tried it!) CJ is actually much worse than I, he will buy 4 or 5 at a time just for the two of us! They also sell coffee, juice (in cold case), and other stuff, but word of caution: if you go too late in the morning, they may run out of a certain danish. (This happened to me once when I REALLY needed --yes, needed-- a cherry danish & I was heartbroken!) This place is sooo good, you will not be sorry you tried it! I would have never thought to find a kick @$$ deli in this industrial area. But I did. And it was great. Very simple sandwiches, but definitely made with love. I give it 4 stars due to it being such a hole in the wall place. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, if the own up to it and make it a better feel when you come in. There isn't much seating, so i would totally just do a bar height counter all the way around with no chair or simple stools. Make it look a little more 'artsy fartsy' and it could really be 5 stars. I tried Pure Grain bakery about 3 months ago and since that time I have become a weekly regular. Their breads are delicious, soft, moist, flavorful and fresh. I now use them for all my sliced bread needs. They appear to specialize in sliced bread loafs great for toast and sandwiches. I have not seen baguette or rolls for sale but they do have daily specials so it is possible these types of breads are offered on special days. Whether it is white bread with honey and raisins or rye with nuts and berries all the bread types I have tried from Pure Grain have been excellent. The bread has a decent shelf life as well, especially the darker breads like rye/wheat. In addition, Pure Grain has some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I believe the bread makes the sandwich so you can imagine how tasty these sandwiches are considering the high quality bread produced at Pure Grain. The sandwiches are loaded with veggies and the cold cuts and cheese portions are generous. Don't forget to try the side dishes as they are rather good. Both the German and regular potato salad are awesome and the pasta salads are great as well. Pure Grain also has an extensive selection of desserts and sweet pastries. Unfortunately, I have not been impressed with the Danish, cookies and pastry. They are simply average and I cannot recommend them as there are better places to get desserts. However, I have not yet tried the pies, cake or gelato at Pure Grain. So perhaps there is sweet redemption in Pure Grain's future. It is worth noting that the prices at Pure Grain are ridiculously inexpensive in my opinion. $7 for a sandwich and $3 for a loaf of bread is very reasonable considering the quality of the product. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to treat themselves to a tasty, inexpensive and filling breakfast or lunch. Finally, Pure Grain is great for families with children and they offer free Wi-fi! read more

I just went here for a late lunch. I ordered a hot pastrami with swiss for $5.90. There's a good amount of selection - there's different kinds of breads (presumably baked fresh in the back), a good selection of meat (turkey, roast beef, pastrami, etc), and the regular toppings (onions, lettuce, tomato, etc). Sandwich was great, but then again, when is hot pastrami not amazing? I also got a bear claw. The lady charged me $5.90 for the sandwich and the bear claw. Wait, WHATTTTT? Free bear claw? +1 :) Overall, the lady working the store was really nice, freebies, sandwich was great, and reasonably priced. One thing I really miss about working at Novartis's former Vacaville location was the close proximity to this bakery. Their lemon and peach coffee cakes, made fresh every morning, are absolutely delicious. It's really convenient for me to stop by here since I work across the street. I got a blueberry scone and a pretzel. Last time I checked, scones aren't German, but it was still good and only $1.55. Fabulous bakery. It's at a cute little location right in downtown Vacaville -- just a short distance away from the public library. Lots of goodies to choose from, including imported items from good 'ol Deutschland. I once went at 11:00 AM on a Thursday morning; not recommended. The pumpernickel bread I ordered was stale. :( Possibly a leftover batch from breakfast. Otherwise, great experiences with so-so service. This place was really good, but recently the bread has been very stale, not the same quality. I only get a short lunch so I never complain but it has made the sandwhich difficult to eat. Recently my order gets messed up in some way..either they add tomatoes or an enormous amount of onions. I will give this place another shot in a few weeks. It's literally so tiny it might as well be a walk up window they have no menu hardly any options and don't even have ice to make iced coffee's. They are out of basically everything or don't carry anything that's on this yelp. What a waste of money and a trip. Been there twice. Each time was near closing time and each time they have been unfriendly. Was there a few days ago and it was about 5 minutes to closing time. Two women working, one nice and one extremely not nice. Blond with tight wavy hair, I think her name was Karen, was standing with crossed arms and just couldn't wait for us to leave. In a good place where there many businesses. I come for lunch sometime. I wish the bread they use not so stale all the time, but the meat is good and so is the cheese. Very yummy pastries and their bolillos (rolls) are freshest in morning. I find bug in bread once. The older lady is not very nice. Should have better people skills and not be rude. And the younger German lady, the owner?, very impatient with us Mexicans. Why? We don't speak english good. But we keep coming back because good food, but like nice service too. I'm all for finding small, hidden places, so I was excited about checking this place out on our way to Tahoe. First of all they have no bathrooms, so after eating a sticky cinnamon roll, you are left with your hands as they are. Second, we got there around 8am, they had no eggs or ham, so breakfast sandwiches were available. Then they had all of five bagels available. Not five kinds, five total bagels. The service was not that friendly either As far as the bakery items is concerned, they are not that good. Pretty tasteless stuff. The only thing ok was the coffee. This was very disappointing. I've been going to pure grain downtown since I was in high school. I love their chai, pastries, sandwiches and salads.. I also loved taking any friends from out of town here. But unfortunately I don't go in at all anymore because of the AWFUL costumer service. They have these young "mad at the world" kind of employees working. They're so rude and I've seen them often completely ignore customers. I walk by every now and then hoping those people have quit.. But no luck!! I miss this place but customer service is EVERYTHING.
