    Drumstix Plate

Pure Soul was such an fantastic experience. I've heard so many great reviews about this place, and was happy that it lived up to the hype. The food was straight up good. Everything was seasoned well, what was supposed to be crispy was very crispy, what was supposed to be rich was very rich. The reason I rate this place 5 stars is because of the creativity in their drumsticks. Although I know I'm not having chicken, it basically tasted like chicken. It had a wonderfully crispy outer skin, and they even put a thick skewer stick in the middle of it to simulate a chicken bone. I thought this small detail was genius, and honestly sold the entire plate for me instantly. Will definitely be back to try other things.

Pure Soul has some of the best vegan food I've had in a while. While I am not a vegan, I am always open to try out a vegan restaurant while dining with vegan friends. The servers were very welcoming and answered all the questions we had about what to order. The gentleman recommended the "Shrimp" Boy and for my sides I had hush puppies and coleslaw. I didn't love the coleslaw, but the sandwich and hushpuppies were absolutely delicious! For dessert we had the brownie and sweet potato cake which was equally as tasty. The restaurant was very spacious with lots of open seating indoors and outside. This will be a place that I will visit each and everytime I'm visiting Durham. The food was also fresh and reasonably priced, which was an added bonus. I can't recommend this place enough!

Seriously one of the best restaurants I've eaten at, EVER. In my life! As a lifelong vegetarian, it was overwhelming to look at a menu and be able to order literally anything I wanted. I was also happy to see that, on top of that, there are lots of gluten free options--it can be kinda hard to find vegetarian AND gf at a restaurant, so that's a big bonus! I was with a group, so we tried a lot of different menu items, and everything we ordered was, like, the best thing we'd ever eaten. I dream of the soul rolls! And wouldn't be right not to order sweet tea. Andrew and his staff treated our table like we were royalty, so not only was the food incredible, we had an amazing experience, too. You can really tell the love and care that has been put into curating such an authentic, cool spot. Impeccable vibes.

Pure Soul is a must go!! The food is absolutely delicious, especially the fried chicken! It is set in such a cute and welcoming environment, and is very nice and neat. Most of all though, the staff is absolutely amazing! Ace, Kimmy, and Andrew were there the day I went. It was my first time there, and I had never had a hushpuppy before (I'm from the North). They kindly let me tried one (they're delicious), and then offered me a complimentary Arnold Palmer for being my first time! Both my girlfriend and I felt super welcomed and beyond happy with the service!! Everyone must go to Pure Soul! It is fantastic! Will be back soon :)

I had the NC BBQ plate. Loved the cornbread and coleslaw. I wasn't a big fan of the collard greens...they tasted too chili-powder forward for me, and I thought the bbq and mac and cheese were just okay. While the food wasn't particularly my favorite, I loved how the menu had such variety. The cashier was super nice, and the service was great.

Andrew Was so friendly and inviting. He gave us samples of everything we ordered beforehand. My only regret is not meeting the chef. Big props to him. His flavors are right on

Really enjoyed my visit to Pure Soul. It was my first time though I've heard a lot about it. As far as I understand, everything here is vegan. Which is awesome. It's in a small strip mall in Durham and has a small parking lot. When we went it was 1pm on a Thursday and there were a bunch of people. Between getting through the line and waiting for our food, it took about 30 minutes, so keep this in mind should you visit at a high traffic time. The space itself is funky and casual. They deliver your food in biodegradable to go containers. I had the fried CHKN sandwich and added buffalo sauce and ranch with a side of french fries. Everything was very good. The taste and consistency felt like chicken but not as heavy as a fried chicken sandwich would be, which is great! I really enjoyed my experience and I would recommend if you're looking for a good vegan place in the Triangle.

One of my absolute favorite places to visit! The food is DELICIOUS! There are more than enough options and I love that no matter when I visit, there MAY be entertainment or great vendors or just a welcoming environment with friendly faces. The desserts are not my fav but almost any and everything else on the menu HITS. The Mac n and cheese, along with the soul rolls are a must try.

One of the best vegan restaurants I've tried. The fish fry sandwich was great as well as the Caesar side salad. I could taste the love and care this food was made with. There's vegan-friendly food served in most restaurants as an afterthought, but at Pure Soul, plants are center-stage. My nonvegan wife loved the "shrimp" po boy and Caesar salad as well. The lemonade was delicious and refreshing. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

I tried this, but the system wouldn't even let me try until 30 days in advance, which I did, but was told I wouldn't need a reservation on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm for two people. I showed up and half the staff seemed really confused until I pointed to the tiered plates on other tables, then they said "ohhh the tea party!" lol. They got someone else, who said she wasn't sure she could accommodate us because we didn't have a reservation! I showed her the email on my phone which said "your reservation request was denied" because we supposedly didn't need one. I wouldn't usually have been so insistent but my friend had driven like 40 minutes to hang out and have this plant-based experience. She ended up relenting and bringing us the "tea party." The tea cups were the size of a shot glass and the tea bag selection included Lipton. I think it would have cost them basically nothing to give everyone their own teapot so you could actually seep your own flavor of tea, or even a bigger mug. It was just a little silly. They also start you off with a cute little labeled pitcher of lemonade- so cute but I wish they would have continued with this theme of labels or else just given us a pitcher of water because I was really thirsty by the end. The food that was made in house was delicious- the vegan pimento cheese sandwiches (bread tasted kind of stale though), the samosas and other savory pastries were delicious. The star of the show for me was the flatbread- veggie with some sort of aioli on it- I just loved it! Then there were store bought crackers and jelly (not chutney as we'd hoped/thought) and some store bought cookies. They had homemade vegan baked goods there, so I wish they had just tried a little harder to have some on hand for the high tea experience. The ambience was not great for a high tea experience. It's fast-casual so you order your high tea at the counter. Also they had the door open so it was really hot and the pollen was coming in. All in all, I would return but definitely for take-out, never for the high tea. The cost per person was not commensurate to the experience I had. That's a bummer because with some very small tweaks they could have a great niche!

I ordered the Powerhouse Bowl and Cajun fries. The bowl was flavorful and satisfying, but the fries were disappointing--bland and tasted like they had been refried from frozen. Our friend ordered the OG chicken sandwich, which she felt was lacking in seasoning and could've used more mushrooms. I tried a bite myself and actually found it pretty flavorful, especially with the pretzel bun, which was a nice touch. The restaurant was a bit warm when we arrived, but the staff was quick to adjust the air conditioning when we asked--much appreciated! Overall, I'd consider coming back to give it another shot, especially since we came in about an hour before closing. That might have impacted the food and experience a bit.

It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. It is finished with a crunchy mix of pepitas, nuts, and grains. The balance is quite ideal in my view. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out. The vibe inside is festive and relaxed, bright and open, and just a fun place to hang out for lunch. Porbably not a special occasion. I also suspect it could get loud when full. This is definitely going into my regular rotation. That grain bowl is going to be hard to pass up next time, so instead of replacing it I will probably just add a side or an empanada and start working my way through the rest of the menu.

The roasted chicken was juicy and tasty, and a bit sweet with the bourbon ginger and plum reduction, but the mac and cheese seemed dry and overcooked. The table and floor were messy but someone quickly came to clean it for me. They called our names over the loudspeaker and my best friend went to go get our food. She got the MotherClucker. Our food was REALLY good. If you like Cobb salad, you will definitely like this one. The chicken was pan seared perfectly, the vinaigrette was perfectly tangy and the bleu cheese was especially excellent. My friend's chicken sandwich has SO MUCH chicken salad on it. Impressive. There was so many neat items to see in the place. The murals were great, there were some cute retail spaces, a coffee bar up front, a bar downstairs, and ice cream outside! Unfortunately my bestie and I had too much to talk about so we didn't check it out as much as I otherwise wood. I would definitely try this place again!
