Facilities wise -- the outdoor patio is spacious and filled with plants; gender neutral bathrooms; ample indoor seating; ordering at the counter is super easy; we didn't have an issue with parking (went on a weeknight). Not what I was expecting at all, would not go back!!! The parking situation is absurd and tight!! And a far stretch from what I'd call good comfort food, not even close! Thank you Pure South, I'll definitely give it a second chance, because I do appreciate that it's vegan food and that you're willing to listen to feedback. Glad we're in agreement about the parking lot, wow that's true! Moving on to the food part....I wasn't expecting the macaroni to have a greasy texture, but a creamy one instead, plus the flavor wasn't sharp enough like a authentic sharp cheesy taste, so the two weren't really a culinary sync for what I was expecting. The "barbecue sandwich" didn't even sort of mimic the original southern BBQ favorite at all, other than the bun. I used to eat pork BBQ years back and liked the taste of it, even though I don't eat it anymore.....but the flavor and texture of this sandwich didn't convince me that it might've been a close cousin of the NC "cue!" Lastly, the collards didn't have the southern collards flavor i know and love, but had a whole different taste going entirely. I know I was hopeful when I came in to try it out believe me, and I love supporting local businesses, especially plant based ones, but the food wasn't what I'd hoped for it to be sadly. Last time I came to this restaurant it was with the previous owners and I loved it. I'm glad to see that this restaurant is still amazing with the new owners. We ordered the nc bbq, I wanted the fish plate but they were all out. I enjoyed everything on that plate, the bbq was super flavorful and the mac was on point. Greens were good, I love my greens, but I dislike coleslaw so to me it was meh. We also got the southern fried drumstix which we enjoyed, we hope to get the bbq drumstix next time. The rice was cooked great and had a beautiful color. We also got the cheesecake with blueberry topping and it was super tasty! I highly recommend this spot for some delicious vegan food! read more

The sides are amazing! Delicious slaw comes with plus 2 sides for under $20 a plate. The sweet potato waffle fries and thick moist cornbread are outstanding. Amazing food! Wonderful staff! Only bad thing about this place is that it's affordable so you want to go every day but then you think maybe I should cook at home and be a responsible adult. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant. The staff is sweet and friendly. They accommodate any specific request or switches you want to make so long as it's reasonable. It's a gorgeous setting to eat at but they also are amazing in terms of takeout with everything packed nicely for a long drive. Now in terms of the food, you can't go wrong with anything. However, personal favorites are the shrimp, fish, BBQ, cornbread, mac and cheese, and these blackeyed beans... you guys... these beans... I don't know what goes into them but they are the most amazing beans. I can't rave about these beans enough! Also the sauces that they make in-house are all amazing from the remoulade to the tartar sauce and the new romesco sauce. The place gets even better! They have the most amazing desserts. Unfortunately they're usually out because of how good they are. My favorites have been the banana pudding and the peanut butter crispy. On top of all of this they are eco-friendly with not using plastic as much as they can and having takeout containers that are made out of compostable materials.
