Wow! We have been enjoying the delicious food from Pure Soul since they were vendors at the Triangle Vegfest. I am so happy that they have this beautiful storefront now. They have created a gorgeous outdoor seating area, with colorful murals, plants and a lovely, warm vibe. I think we have tried every item on the menu- and love it all, but my very favorite things are the Fried Chikn Sandwich, Po' Boy Hoagie, NC BBQ Sandwich with slaw, and the Big Kale Caesar salad. But truly, you can't go wrong. My kids love the BBQ Drumstix and Soul Mac. You can taste the love and fresh ingredients in every bite. The owners are also wonderful, kind people. Whenever I'm in Durham, this is the place I HAVE to go. I'll leave extra early or work my appointments around when they're open. The food is amazing (vegan bbq omg!) and the staff is so nice! And an ENTIRE menu of delicious vegan options. This time I got the rolls, cheese fries, and cornbread and BBQ plate to go. Amazing!!! I was really excited when I read this was opening, bought tix for the Grand Opening and drove 25 minutes to check it out, then all the way home smelling the food in the car. It was worth every minute! The staff were incredibly friendly and I even got to meet one of the owners. You can tell they've put their heart and soul into the food, the menu and the service. The food was absolutely incredible. My non-vegan husband loved the Poboy while I devoured and savored the fried chicken sandwich. The sides we tried were delicious (corn bread, sweet potato fries). The cheesecake was incredible. Do not skip the cheesecake! I don't know how they made it but we will be driving out on a regular basis. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes. They had some nice outdoor seating and seemed very Covid safe. I hope they find great success and are around for many years to come as this will be a treat for all vegans in the community to enjoy. Absolutely the best food, plant-based or otherwise, I have had in my entire life. Genuinely. I ordered a build-your-own biscuit on Sunday with hot chicken, egg, and cheese and was blown away. My friend got a chicken sandwich and collard greens and that was also incredible. The vibe was impeccable, with incense burning in the outdoor entryway and a live DJ, with tons of seating outside. I really enjoyed Pure Soul. I'm vegan and got takeout with a few non vegan friends. We all really enjoyed our meals. I got the BBQ plate with the kale ceasar and cornbread, and everything was delicious! Probably the best vegan BBQ I've ever had. This place is fantastic! We were just passing through and decided to try this place because we couldn't find any decent vegetarian food. I am sooooo glad we did. We got the poboy, kale salad, Mac n cheese, and fries. We weren't a fan of the Mac n cheese, but it wasn't that bad. It tasted like Mac n cheese. It was very dry, which makes me think we got the end of a batch or something. It was good enough to try again. The kale salad was really good. REALLY. GOOD. I was expecting a meh kinda salad because it seems really simple. I was so wrong! The dressing was subtle but super tasty and the chickpeas on top were the perfect compliment. I don't even really like chickpeas. That's how good it was. The fries were good, almost anyone will like these. They had just enough spice to not be boring but not enough to take away from any dish you have them with. Not too salty either. The poboy. Holly Molly! Genuinely. If you have someone who is on the fence about veganism or vegetarianism, take them here and buy them a shrimp poboy. Lives will change. I guarantee it. This is hands down the best sandwich I've had in years. The sauce is good, they were generous with the fresh veggies, and the coleslaw (which I was a little hesitant about because I'm not a fan of most coleslaw) is exactly what the sandwich needs. It's perfect. It's a perfect sandwich. I can't say enough about it. It's comfort food, it's filling without being heavy. Seriously. Eat it! Put it in your body, you can thank me later. Besides the food, it's genuinely a place I would feel good giving my money too. They have an app to order from that is very intuitive and simple to use. It is very easy to customize your order and they have a loyalty program! The workers were very nice and helpful when I picked up my food and the restaurant was clean. They also had compostable forks and what looked to be compostable containers. Which is so nice to see. My other container was plastic, but was recyclable. The general atmosphere at the restaurant is very laid back and happy. There were several people eating outside when I got my food, and it genuinely seems like a place you would want to do that. They have quite a few colorful little tables to sit at. Most of the outside seating is covered. They back up to some trees, and the whole thing is very photogenic. They also had indoor seating. Overall, I wish I didn't live so far away. I don't get out this way very often, which is a shame. I can't wait to visit again and try something new. Please please please go try these guys out! The texture was perfect and the sauce wasn't too sweet. I think even carnivores would approve! The slaw was refreshing. Portion size was large too -- I was able to make two meals out of it!
