Storm damage and my insurance company referred me to this group. The only positive (reason for 2 stars) was that because of water damage - they literally gutted my downstairs- pulling up half the wood floor as well right away. Then- basically - left- for MONTHS. After this- sloppy and incomplete work. Drywall seams - terrible. Paint job sloppy. Did not replace electrical outlet covers- rehang windows blinds (in the bill) and the worst part- wood flooring person NEVER SHOWED UP. I had to hire my own wood floor person to complete the job. Obviously no oversight- and never checked the job at "completion". Even after telling them these issues- no show. I'm now fixing their sloppy work with another contractor. read more

Excellent service! Marvin and his crew came promptly to our home in response to water leaking from our kitchen. They informed us each day of what they were doing and what we should expect next. They also carefully cut out a custom cabinet to help try and save the piece for us. These situations are never nice, but fortunately the drying phase of this ordeal was smooth sailing. I am disappointed by Purofirst's project management, estimation skills, professionalism, workmanship, and pricing. Other than that, though, I have nothing but great things to say about them. If you'd like to experience a series of costly delays interspersed with disappointment and frustration, then I recommend Purofirst. I wish I read the reviews of this company before trying them. They were a referral from my insurance company. Now originally, I had another restoration company and explained to the on site PM why I was changing - lack of communication and started work (unnecessary) without discussion or did more than they were supposed to. He assured me they would be with me every step of the way and explain everything. And then here comes the true project manager and his assistant: Juan and Curry. I set up an appt thru Curry for Juan to come for the measurements and here comes the day and no one showed up. He was supposed to be there 8am and I called around 9, 12 and then 2pm. Every time, Curry was not in to take the call or on another line. Emails went through as well. The receptionist (probably not supposed to tell me) finally alerted me that Juan was out sick. So where the hell is my call. I do NOT have a schedule to allow weekdays off and so here I am sitting all day waiting and no call, just pushed aside. It took an email to the on site manager and then, 3 mins later, here comes Curry calling me. Juan is sick and he has fires to put out- yeah, like me waiting at 8am for him to show up. But when a higher manager calls, you jump on your feet! I tell him that was the only day I had available and Juan needs to come on a weekend. He said it would take a week to find that out, but finally, Juan said he would come Sunday. This man comes over (with his wife or whoever in the car), no notepad, and just looks at my kitchen - I ask if he wants photos- no. I ask if he wants measurements - no, someone else should have taken them. I ask if he wants to see the basement - no. This man was there for 5 mins and took no notes. What are you here for? He tells me Curry would have the cabinets for me to make selections the next day and send the floor guy's info. He comes Tuesday, I get the floor guy's number (also a terrible company) and Curry plays dumb with the cabinets. Says Juan will come back Thursday. Friday comes and no news. Now Curry says he doesn't know which cabinet company he uses and still waiting on Juan (and I was told by higher management that they only use 1 or 2 companies in stock and I just wanted to start looking at ideas). Come to find out, yet again, Juan is MIA- on vacation never the less. So as an assistant or whatever, you don't know this? Another week later, Juan says someone has to come out to measure and take pictures. Dude, that was your job!!! I asked you when you came ill prepared. Stop relying on other people to do your job. I was done- I asked for another PM but apparently, you can't switch to another PM. Although they did NOTHING at all, I can't get a new PM. Thanks. I ended up asking when the cabinets could be installed (1-2 months in advanced) and they said sure to a date to book. Then all of a sudden, they wanted the cabinet people to come measure on that date and then I can pick the cabinets that would take 12 weeks to come in. What??? We scheduled for installation, why are we changing it to measurements when 1. someone else had the measurements 2. we failed to do your job and measure when you came, and 3. schedule earlier!!!! Firing them was such a relief. But that added another 2-3 months to my schedule to have to get this kitchen fixed, but better than using them!!! Please please please, save yourself. Find someone outside of Home Depot or whatever, just do not pick this company. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this professional group! My condo flooded and they came right in and got down to business. They were really nice and understanding (given that I was a hot mess because the place was turned upside down) and they were very careful with all of my personal belongings. I was never worried about my stuff and they were so friendly with me and my family through the multiple visits. I'm really lucky my condo building went with them. During the re-install they did an AMAZING job - it was a complete improvement to my place...not that I really wanted a flood to do it! I would highly recommend if you have a disaster on your hands...they are a one stop shop. Thanks for saving my place! They advised us on how to ensure that we got appropriate testing before and after so that we would know that they had effectively eliminated our problems. The staff were professional, courteous, on-time, and thorough. They told us what to expect, how the work would be done, when it would be done, and what they needed us to do. My dishwasher recently overflowed around 1 a.m. on Sunday, damaging the kitchen and adjoining carpet and wall. Purofirst sent out a team that afternoon and they installed giant fans and a dehumidifier that dried things out within 36 hours. A different two-person team later repaired the drywall, repainted, and replaced the toe-kick plates in the kitchen -- all very quickly and expertly. Finally, the last team replaced the damaged portion of my carpet pad and cleaned the carpet (including areas that weren't actually affected by the water damage), while also dusting the furniture and artwork in the dining room. All of the workers seemed experienced and highly professional. In addition, Purofirst worked very well with my insurance company and greatly aided in the swift resolution of the damage claim. read more

On a referral from a friend, I called Purofirst and even though they we're slammed with calls, they found a way to slip me in to dry things out. Their guys were very professional and showed up when they said they would and picked the equipment up on time. I have been working with Purofirst on my properties for about 5 years now. I have used other vendors in the past, but they have all allen short. Purofirst surpasses all of them bar-none, with their unparalleled professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, personal/professional accountability, and care/sympathy for the people they service. I trust no other vendor to get the job done. This includes their amazing remediation and repairs teams. My residents ask for me to use them time and time again. I have read the negative comments on here and it appears many don't have a full understanding on how the remediation process works. Having a water/fire, etc event in your home is very stressful. Responding to these events are complex and depending on what is being repaired, you can't have realistic expectations if you think the turn around on remediation and repairs is in less than two weeks (depending on the loss). As much as you want to be made whole again, you really need to understand the process. Purofirst has different departments to include water, mold, repairs, flooring. Each work together but respond at different times. Perhaps it is just asking questions. Just my thoughts with dealing personally with over 50 losses (big and small) at my properties. read more

Somebody I know had fire break out in their house and the insurance company hired purofirst to do first steps of restoration ok the house. Because of supposed smoke damage from a fire in the basement, our building told us we had to work with purofirst to replace the entire ceiling and remove the asbestos in the process. First of all, purofirst was AWFUL with communication the entire month and 1 week we were out of our apartment. It wasnt till I contacted the supervisor/manager/ whatever till we got any real responses from anyone for weeks! We had to stay in a hotel the entire time even though our neighbors told us later they only saw people working for less then a week on our apartment. Once we came back and looked, me and my fiancee agreed there's no way they actually replace the ceiling and did what they were supposed to do; You can actually see bits of old paint that I accidentally got on the ceiling from when I painted the walls years ago. My boyfriend has even worked construction doing similar work and says they definitely didn't replace the ceiling from the looks of it, but since we have no before photos we can't prove anything of course. I'm almost certain they just sprayed paint over everything. I think they likely scammed my entire apartment complex to be honest. They also broke 3 of my light fixtures (leaving one of them just broken on the floor!) and when I tried to contact them about it they never responded. I gave up because working with them has been miserable and I was just happy to be back in my home. This was a really crappy experience and I can't say I'd reccomend this company for anything ever. If I could give a negative star I would. The mitigation team was fast efficient and polite. However after it went to rebuild, things went downhill fast. Their manager Frank J. Is an idiot. He failed to measure sub flooring properly, understand what needed rebuilding, be able to stay in contact, and not reek of cigarettes. Incompetent is being polite. This whole mess started in April. It's now the end of August and I might be having my floor reinstalled and my machinery put back into place. Just days shy of 5 months to do a project. And the flooring guys are doing their best impersonation of The Three Stooges. I wish we had never heard of Purofirst. read more

We had to call on Purofirst for three separate water-related problems in 2018, and each time we were incredibly impressed by the skill, professionalism, and attention to detail of the crews who visited our house. Dealing with water damage is never fun, but the meticulousness and obvious knowledge of the Purofirst crews made what were upsetting situations more tolerable. These guys came in and cleared out the damaged carpet, and wet drywall after a leak in our basement apartment. After they left, I found the ceramic container I'd kept beside my bed with my gold coins in it, empty of coins. I'd forgotten that I'd left it there. The table had been moved, and the ceramic container was on it's side with the lid off, and a crack on the container, and the ceramic butterfly inside broken, but put back in. It seems that it fell, and ... I filed a police report. read more

Do not hire these guys if you mind staying in the Hotel for a long period of time. If you hate your home, that's another story. Because they subcontract for most of their work (electrical, plumbing), they depend on other people; thus, there's nothing they can do but shrug their shoulders when asked why it had taken a month and a half to repair a small leak in the basement. Also, when notified that the windows must be replaced by the same company who installed them (expensive and recently purchased windows), their representative could not hide the dismay at the obvious financial loss for PuroFirst (their profit was over 15% for supply and install). I would use the remediation service again although you can find cheaper and the same quality out there. Their repair division is a different story. They are not timely or concerned about your schedule and the project manager I had was awful with communication. It has been over a month since the remediation work was done in my condo before the repairs were done, all because of incompetence and lack of communication. We had an absolutely horrible experience with Purofirst on a job to repair our water-damaged condo. We would not wish this company on anyone. Steer clear. In short: their work was messy, their customer service rude, and their prices were inflated well over what materials cost, sometimes to the tune of double the quote you could get from the source. This on top of labor and a 20% profit margin added on top. When any of these issues were brought up to their operations staff, the response was rude and unhelpful. This should have been our warning to get out, but we were in a hurry to get the work done before we became new parents so we decided to go with a larger business than the smaller other estimates. The job itself seemed to go fine. However, they damaged our fridge (though they did reimburse us for this after a lengthy back and forth), and laid the flooring amateurishly, with the ends of boards very close together and laid in a lightning pattern that basic flooring guides will tell amateurs that the pros avoid (http://homeguides.sfgate.com/stagger-wide-boards-wood-floors-47513.html). I'd even asked the flooring subcontractor specifically to avoid this, and he did it anyway, only fixing a small portion of the floor when confronted about it. There were also large gaps between a few boards, which they tried to remedy with some glue, a rubber mallet, and a lot of banging (which did nothing). The caulking they used to seal the counters turned brown from clear within a few months, even in areas where it hadn't been exposed to anything. The moulding at the top of the cabinets separated from the ceiling and Purofirst did not come to repair it. This was a lot more annoying than it needed to be, and I'd never before, and never since, worked with a contractor this bad at communication and where I felt like I had to triple check, doubt, and verify everything they told me, especially on price. I hope they have learned to be more transparent on their upcharges and to look out for their customers. They've certainly lost our business. read more

Our insurance company recommended Purofirst to repair our damaged wood floors that had water damage from a pipe burst. The initial consult was on time and the rep fully explained the process for the repairs. We were told we would have 2 crews come to the house, one to do the floor and another to do the painting/trim work. The subcontractor for the floor came out with Purofirst for another consult. We scheduled the work and were very happy with the quality of our refinished floors. There was one minor wall ding with our furniture move and Purofirst came out and repaired the wall. We did have to follow up on the status of our job with the receptionist. Purofirst did call us back and give us a status update. read more

Purofirst cleaned our carpets following a hurricane where flooding was sustained. During the cleaning, they damaged my antique furniture leaving gouges in the wood -- and failed to inform me prior to leaving. I have reached out to them several times -- by phone to file a complaint (at which point the gentleman informed me that someone would be in touch with me shortly to follow-up), by email to send pictures of the damage per the representative's request, then by email another two times given the lack of response -- to no avail. I wish I had good things to say about these people, but I don't. They came to my house to check for mold to see if it even existed. I told them not to charge over 2K and it ended up being 70K. They destroyed my basement. I had no idea what I was getting into and they clearly did not explain. I had to pay 15K to finish my basement. So, use them, I think not. This company is so unprofessional and horrible. We had a pipe burst on January 20th. Today they are finishing the repair job. 2 months later! The room is 300 square feet! And today he says the outside faucet is broken. Well no shit Sherlock it burst! This was already written up in the estimate so someone better come and fix it! They told us it would take 2 days for the repair but only sent a guy who does drywall. Then said someone else comes to do carpet but not during the same 2 days. They also say this...and this really pissed me off...someone will call you this week. The week goes by and no call. I call them only to have to leave a message. When the person calls back it's to give me an appointment time for a real call to make a repair appointment. That is ridiculously annoying!! Happened 3 times!! There's so much more but I'm getting more and more annoyed as I type so I'll stop here. This was all done through my insurance company and I was clear in telling them to never refer people to PuroFirst...never!! read more
