    Popcorn Chicken
    Andres N.

Super casual easy going spot with delicious and fresh food. Obviously the main thing here is chicken so we tried the popcorn chicken and spring rolls. Both were solid and tasted very fresh! Loved the texture of the popcorn chicken. I appreciated that the food is served on actual plates and not disposable or a basket or to go containers. Makes it more dine in friendly. Will definitely return to try a bunch more items! Service was friendly and patient while we took a moment to decide on what to get. Highly recommend!

Who doesn't like fried chicken? It's like a katsu but with popcorn chicken seasoning. That along with a nice bowl of satay noodles. Would def come back to try out their different noodles that they have.

I may be an outlier in my experience with Chic n' Time as I thought everything was just ok. My visit took place about a month ago. I opted for a bowl of shrimp pho and had a few bites of the spicy noodle soup. The shrimp pho ($17.XX) was rather bland, particularly the broth. I was expecting at least some bean sprouts or other toppings to be included. Substitutions aren't encouraged or accomodated, but at least the cashier ran the idea with the chef/manager. The restaurant does have a nice inviting space for quick dining. Chic n' Time is located in the heart of the Mission, parking can be difficult, but lots of bus lines near by and BART is about a few blocks away. I'm willing to try this restaurant again, but probably not any time soon. #4/2025

Five Spice Chicken with Garlic Noodles

simple and quick place to get a balanced meal for a good price. got the five spice chicken with garlic noodles. SO GOOD! noodles were slightly overcooked (too soft) but strong umami garlic flavor. chicken was super flavorful and the sweet sauce really balanced out the salty flavors. loved that there is a side of steamed broccoli to balance out the flavorful meal. overall, a solid place and come hungry since the portions are huge!

Quick weekend afternoon late lunch for 2 around 2:30pm. Restaurant was about 1/3 full with a casual stream of to go orders too. Was able to order right away. Order from the counter in the back. Menu is available and you can step aside to look through it if needed. After ordering, grab a seat anywhere and the food will come out to you. Drinks are self serve from a fridge next to the ordering counter. Taiwanese chicken steak. Typically my go to, if not the five spice chicken. Can be ordered with white rice or garlic noodles. Also a few pieces of brocoli. Their garlic noodles are great but I opted for rice this time. The chicken is a huge piece, perfectly fried. Crispy exterior with very juicy meat inside. Comes with a red chili pepper powder you can sprinkle on the dish + a sweet and sour type sauce that pairs nicely with the chicken. Just under $20 for a dish that'll fill you up well.

Garlic butter prawns with garlic noodles

I wasn't planning on coming to this spot; it ended up being a back up to a restaurant I wanted to go to originally, but the line was too long at that place. I'm glad I ended up stumbling upon Chic n' Time as I had a great meal here. I ordered the popcorn chicken as an appetizer and for my main course, I got the garlic butter prawns with garlic noodles. The portions here are generous, and the flavors are on point. The chili powder for the popcorn chicken is really flavorful and added a nice kick to the appetizer. The popcorn chicken bites were pretty tender and had a lot of crunch. The garlic butter prawn dish was on the oily side given the amount of butter they put, but it was good! They also added some broccoli which helped the dish taste just a tad healthier than what it actually is lol. We also had a taro milk tea to share which frankly wasn't that good. Definitely not a place to get your milk tea fix. I'd skip out on the drinks here, but do try their food items. You'll leave stuffed and with a box of leftovers!

Came here on a Thursday night and there were no issues finding a seat! Lots of seating and nice staff. Good: - I got the garlic noodles with BBQ chicken - definitely good portion sizes here, you won't be hungry coming out of it - I liked the crunchy texture of the BBQ chicken too - The vibe is very chill and we sat there for a while catching up - quiet inside Bad: - Took some time for the food to come out Overall was a really fun casual place to get a meal. It's not too expensive and the food is unique!

This is what I am familiar with when I order from Perilla.

I placed an pick up order Via Uber Eats for a restaurant I've eaten at plenty of times called "Perilla" when I arrived I noticed the door said Chic N' Time, I immediately walk out of the restaurant thinking I went into the wrong place. I confirm on my phone the address and it shows that I am at the correct place. I go back inside and speak with an employee and I ask him was this Perilla, he looked confused and said no this is Chic N Time, I asked him where was Perilla, he said he never heard of them. I then show him my Uber Eats order on my phone and he confirmed that he had my order and it was ready for pick up. I reluctantly take the food and return home, soon as I open the bag I can instantly tell that this was not going to be to my liking. I ordered the grilled beef and garlic noodles, it honestly looked like a sliced New York steak strip, tasted nothing like the beef from Perilla. I reached out to Uber Eats, they tried to deny my refund request at first but I escalated it to a manager and eventually my order was approved for a refund. Google list two locations for Perilla, 525 Haight st and 836 Irving St. Something is going on, either this restaurant is catfishing as Perilla on Uber Eats and is stealing pictures from the real Perilla or some type of "partnership" is going on between these two. Below I will show a picture of what I am use to getting from Perilla at 525 Haight st vs what I received today from "Chic N Time. Ubereats was not able to give me an answer to this whole ordeal. I am very confused.

The popcorn chicken I got here was super crispy and flavourful. it was the perfect snack/light meal. One of the best I've had and I'd get it again.

I'm so happy I found this spot. You can't get good 5 Spice Chicken at too many places in the Bay Area, but here you can. They also have another of my favs, Garlic Noodles, so "Say less!". The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The service is great. And it's a little hole-in-the-wall located in a lively area. It could use a refresh though.

Five spice chicken with garlic noodles and satay pho with fried chicken
    Jessica L.

Food: - Garlic noodles are buttery, salty, and full of chunks of garlic. - Five spice chicken thigh is perfectly seasoned and moist. - Fried chicken is crunchy, moist, but a bit salty. - Satay pho was a lot spicier than I was anticipating and I actually could not finish the broth. Service: Feels to be family owned and cashier/food servers were always very kind. Ambiance: - There is seating inside and outside. - A lot of people were grabbing take out. Over all, this was a great food option in Mission!

Stopped by Chic N Time for dinner around 8:30 pm on a Friday. It was close to their closing time (9pm) but they still had a few groups of people dining. We ordered at the front counter and they gave us a number to place at our table. My friend and I ordered the popcorn chicken and peppercorn wings with garlic noodles (+$1 since it normally comes with rice). The food came out fresh in about 10-15 minutes. As soon as we tasted the chicken, we totally understood why they had it in their restaurant name. Both the popcorn chicken and the peppercorn chicken were juicy, crispy and flavorful. Popcorn chicken had the right amount of batter coating and the seasoning hit the spot. It also comes with the spicy seasoning that you can dust on to taste -- would highly recommend! Peppercorn chicken wings were good, though I don't really know what the peppercorn flavor was supposed to taste like. Garlic noodle was fine, a bit on the dry side, but not bad at all. The stars here are the chicken and I was definitely impressed; will for sure come by again!

Came here in a pretty large group after church. We come pretty regularly and every time we do they are always so sweet and accommodating. The food is also really good and the portions are more than enough! I love the five spice chicken garlic noodles! The five spice chicken is def the star! The owners and employees are always so welcoming and quick to help. I definitely recommend coming here for a nice casual bite, the food, the staff, and vibes will not disappoint!

The place only seats around 20 people or so and they have a mandatory requirement that each person has to order a bowl of ramen. We got the following *enoki chips: 3/5: salty, limp, greasy to the point of floating in a pool of oil. *vegan tantanmen-2.5/5- disappointed by this one. Had better vegan ramen at several other establishments. The version here has two dominant flavors- extremely smoky and bitter. The kale didn't help as well. They allegedly have a few limited reservation slots but a majority of their service is first come first serve. You stand in line and wait. I would not recommend coming in large groups. In fact, I'd go as far as to say groups larger than 4 are basically contraindicated. The space inside is quite tight, think narrow, barstool-height seating and tiny tables. When my friend and I were seated after about a 40 min wait, we had spent so much time perusing the menu that we basically knew what we were going to get. Service was really kind and quick. My thoughts on the food below: Kabocha croquet: these were freshly fried and served PIPING hot. The perfectly crisp exterior and soft, non mushy interior were just the perfect textures contrasted against each other. The sweetness of the pumpkin meant that the vinegar heavy house dipping sauce was a requirement not a suggestion. The side salad also provided some freshness with each bite, not that the croquets were too greasy at all! They were well drained so just the crunch remained without the oil. Tori Tsukune: these Japanese chicken meatball skewers were HUGE and DELICIOUS. Perfectly grilled with a charred taste, relentlessly tender inside. Dipped in the accompanying soy sauce and egg yolk mixture it was simply heavenly. The yolk added a mild richness to each bite. Hotate carpaccio: this was the most unique take on scallops I've had in a while. The flavors seem strange at first glance (and first taste, if I'm being totally honest), but it took no more than two chews for me to change my tune. First off, the scallops are plump, crisply sweet, and buttery soft in the way that high quality scallops are. Next, the onion and yuzu provide a sharp yet floral aroma to each bite. The floral taste was initially jarring but became addictive. The drizzle of cream sauce on top tempered the sharpness and gave the dish a smooth finish. Truly a memorable scallop dish!! Midori udon: a scallop and pesto stir fry udon dish. This was unexpected combo when I read the menu, but it was so good! The briny and sweet little scallops were cooked to a perfect tender texture and they paired well with the mild, herbaceous pesto. The udon provided the perfect slurp. While I'm more of a soup noodle girl myself, this was an addictive and unique Japanese-Italian fusion! Niku Ramen: Taniku has a lot of inventive ramen offerings but the niku ramen stood out to me. I've had and enjoyed niku udon before, though I usually find the broth to be too sweet. This dish took all the best parts of niku udon - the mountains of tender, marinated beef, the soft boiled egg, the tender onions - and put them into a richer, heartier broth with thin ramen noodles and the outcome was fantastic. One of the most memorable bowls of ramen I've had in a while. The broth was seriously delicious. I'm such a big soup person so I keep coming back to that. It wasn't too sweet or too salty in the way that a lot of noodle soup broths are, but still managed to impart a ton of flavor. The meaty, fishy flavor was so drinkable. For the quality and quantity of food vs the price you pay, I was incredibly impressed by Taniku Izakaya!!!! Just banger after banger after banger. I saw that they have some good happy hour deals as well so I will definitely be coming back for more of their delightful apps and skewers. I cannot recommend this spot enough, there's a reason people queue for it.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. I'm very apperciative of the staff here.

We had it family style. The 3 of us shared it all. There was plenty to go around. None of us left hungry. I can't even pick a favorite. Maybe the numb and spicy which wasn't that spicy. It was just so good and flavorful. The soup dumplings were amazing. So much perfect flavor. They held together until the bite. So good. The hot and sour soup was plenty tasty. Not the best I've ever had but certainly among the best. The only thing I will say is that one of my companions can't have seaweed. The wonton soup was amazing but full of seaweed. It wasn't listed on the menu and we have never had seaweed in any other wonton soup so didn't know to ask if it could be left out. That was sad. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

If you're not able to squeeze into the first wave, the wait is upwards of 2 hours! FOOD: We ordered one galbi jim with extra noodles and rice cakes and a separate garlic noodles for a party of 5. While we initially thought we could finish two galbi jims, our server cautioned us against it, referencing the healthy portion size. We were glad we took her advice because everyone was stuffed by the end of our meal. Their galbi jim was flavorful, with extremely tender beef and chewy rice cakes. We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. SERVICE: We were the first to be seated and our galbi jim took almost 20 minutes to come out while others waited even longer. However, they comped our garlic noodles and apologized for turning waits. Overall, I'd definitely return if I'm able to get into the first wave of seating.

Came here on a Friday night at 7:30. Had to wait about 30-40 min for 2 seats. The restaurant is…read moresmall so unless you have a 4-6 person party, expect to be seated side by side other parties. Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
