I've only been a few times, but the food here is really good. The breakfast looks terrific but I'm usually here in the afternoon and I prefer lunch anyways. The bco, super tuscan, davis farmer's market and hot pastrami are delicious. The fries are thin, crisp and hot. One of these days I'm going to make it for dinner as their pizza oven looks amazing and I've heard, and seen on tv, their pizza is really good. I wouldn't mind trying their strip steak or their fried chicken either. Great place to sit outside, enjoy a beer or glass of wine on a nice day with some really good food. Fabulous breakfast! Had to wait a little bit for a table but it was breakfast on a Saturday coming out of COVID - so we understand. We had the sweetest server, Sophia! The food was amazing and HUGE portions! I had the french toast bake with a side of sausage - yummy! My husband had the chicken fried steak and holy crap it was fabulous! Just out of Vacaville about 8.5 miles down 505 lies the little historic town on Winters. A beautiful little town that got its start back in feb 1898. Nice little shops and places to eat. One in particular is the Putah Creek Cafe. This restaurant you might of noticed was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri. Great little restaurant with a cozy atmosphere with some great eats! I had the chicken fried steak and eggs with home fries country biscuit and gravy with a cup of Coffee. Everything was spot on with great flavors! My wife had the huevos rancheros which she said was excellent! Im one of those who love my coffee and some times you run into places that have good food but there coffee leaves much to be desired. Well coffee here is great! The coffee here comes from a coffee house just up the street with fresh beans and brew called "Steady Eddies" Nothing like a great breakfast with fresh brew coffee and with historic surroundings with cool little shops! It's been a while since my wife and I have been here but with her parents in town, we figured we'd try coming back because it used to be a favorite of all of ours. Boy has this place gone down hill since the last time we were here. Despite the dining room being half empty at 9:05 when we arrived, we had to wait 20 minutes for a table for 4 adults, two kids, and a spot for a high chair. There were plenty of table options, but no, we had to wait. Once we did finally get seated, we had to wait 10 minutes for someone to even come to our table. After putting in our order, we had to wait 10 more minutes for water and coffee, which came out right before the food. And we ordered to kid milks, which was brought out in plastic to go cups but no straws. And our server didn't have straws, said she would come back with them, but never did. After yet another 10 minutes of waiting, I went up to the front to get them myself. I got the griddle breakfast with French toast, ham, and eggs over medium. French toast was soggy and a puny portion. Ham was small and dry. Eggs came out undercooked from what I expect "over medium" to be, and the egg whites not cooked it it looks creamy when I cut into it. So I sent it back. What I got back was better than the initial plate but still not very good, not what I would ha e expected. The consensus around the table for everyone's food was that it was just "fine." We never got a refill on our coffees. I think the reason this place was so empty compared to the last time we were here is because this place is terrible now. Horrendous service, forgettable good. Wife and I stopped here on a whim. We were hungry and ready to eat, and we just happened to stumble upon this cafe. Outside, there are chairs and tables as well as a brick oven for some delicious pizza and flatbread. Speaking of flatbread... We are suckers for almost anything sweet-meets-savory. Fig jam, goat cheese, prosciutto, arugula, and herbs. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the epitome of sweet-meets-savory. It was honestly one of the most amazing food explosions I've ever experienced in my mouth. Wife had the fried chicken as recommended by Skye. Otherwise, she would've gotten the open face tri tip sandwich, which also looked amazing. Everything on that plate was delicious! The biscuit had some herb or such on top (chives maybe?) that just added the perfect touch AND flavor. Chicken was fried perfectly and was still so moist. I had the Tuscan burger. You could literally taste all of the meats individually, and then combined. I've never tasted a burger like this and it was divine. The freshness of the arugula and mustard sauce helped to even out the saltiness from the meats. I usually don't do tomato on any of my burgers or sandwiches, but the tomato this time was just what this burger needed and it was perfect. I wasn't the biggest fan of the decor/ambiance. It felt like the place was split 3 ways - bar/diner feel, 80's Sizzler booths, and then rustic very cute tables. Other than the 3-in-1, this place is amazing. I can't wait to come back. read more

Just finished eating at Putah Creek Cafe. The ambience was ok. I ordered the BBQ burger . The presentation was ok. However, it tasted like the food was premade. It was a bit dry. This may be just the meat and potatoes they use. My wife had a Cobb salad. She gave her salad 3 stars. French fries came with my burger. They were definitely premade and dry like cardboard. Some of the fries were overcooked, almost burnt! I wanted bacon with my burger. The waitress forgot to add it along with lettuce and tomatoes to my order. I mentioned this to the manager, I also let her know that I still wanted it. In a snappy manner and tone she said, "You know you have to pay extra for that!" Stating the obvious, It was a No....blank Sherlock moment she gave off a lot of Karen vibes. I didn't say anything back to her except, "Ok, Thank you!" Lol ! My wife was right I'd rate the restaurant along with service a 2-3 stars. I didn't bother to take pictures of the food, it wasn't worth it. I normally at all my restaurants leave a tip, I didn't due to the food quality and service this time. Maybe in the future I'll give them another try. I can be a 3 strikes your out kinda person. This is the second time in a row I have been burned by this restaurant. Both times we were at Turkovitch having some wine and ordered take out to eat with our wine. The first time I ordered a salad that was supposed to have Pancetta. It came with burned black bacon instead. I ordered a pizza and the entire outer edge going toward the middle was burned black. I did not notice until we got back to Turkovitch and we went ahead and made the best of it. I called and left a message and also sent an email describing my situation. I never heard back. Last night we were again at Turkovitch and decided to give them a second chance. I did a search and found the website listed on the right side of the page with a link for "order online". I pulled up the menu and found a fig and prosciutto pizza and a melon heirloom tomato salad. I called them and got a young lady new to her job. I ordered two Fig and Prosciutto pizzas and she took that order. I then ordered the melon heirloom tomato salad. She took that order. I ordered a garden salad and after a while she took that order. When I walked over to pick up the order they had a prosciutto and arugula pizza. I told them I ordered a fig and prosciutto pizza. I this was the wrong time of year for figs however fig trees all around me and in the country are dropping fruit like crazy. I was also told I ordered of the wrong menu. I told her I ordered off what was supposed to be the online menu and there was no prosciutto and arugula pizza on either of the two different menus I found. I also pointed out that the person on the phone did nothing to correct this. I also got an heirloom tomato salad without melon. Apparently wrong menu again but again they took my order. The pizza's were really poor. hardly any prosciutto, limp arugula and no cheese on either pizza. The pizza was mostly crust with very little fill in the middle. I was recently in France and had a prosciutto and arugula pizza that was so tremendously better and priced the same. This was my last time to order anything here. They did nothing on the first fiasco and I was burned again. read more

Get the Fried Chicken sandwich! Usually I would get a sample bite but the sandwich was gobbled up quickly. Their roast 1/2 chicken came out pipping hot and hit the spot on a cold winter's evening. Margherita Pizza was spot on. The only dish that was meh was the special that night, which was a pasta bolognese dish. It was lukewarm, not distinctive and pricey for what it was. 1/2 point deduction for that. So really 3.5 stars. I wished I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was apparently delicious and a good value. BTW- their online menu is more limited now due to COVID. Located in the small town of Winters, CA is this cute little restaurant. As you walk in, you are welcomed by the hostess and servers. We went on a Monday morning and we were seated right away in a booth near the front of the restaurant; you can see the kitchen from our spot. There is outdoor seating, plenty of indoor seating including several spots at the bar. I ordered the PC Scramble; this had scrambled egg with chorizo, chilies and corn tortillas mixed in. The corn tortillas were a nice and surprising touch. Wish there was more chorizo in the scramble but it was tasty overall. The PC also came with a flour tortilla and potatoes mixed with bell peppers and onion. The salsa added a nice subtle kick to the meal. The tortilla was a little dry; however, potatoes were cooked perfectly. Service was good and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed. Very small town feel. My husband and I went for a little walk around the town after breakfast; there is a peaceful river walk just across the street from Putah. Would love to go back for another meal. I have never been disappointed with the Putah Creek Cafe and after yesterday's breakfast with my girlfriend I can happily say that it looks like I never will. I generally order something from the griddle (pancakes or waffles) but this time I decided to keep it simple and went with the scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage patties and sourdough toast. Pair that with the delicious coffee and a never empty water glass and you are set! The service is always friendly, fast and professional. My one recommendation is to show up early as the PCC gets filled up fast (and for good reason). It was once again an absolute delight to pop by the Putah Creek Cafe in beautiful downtown Winters, CA. read more

We ate breakfast for the first time here this morning. Their dessert display looked amazing, I totally wanted to take some home but forgot. We were told it was a 50min wait but that the bar is first come first serve, so we sat down immediately. It was very loud. We expected to have a slow experience since they were so busy but we were in and out in less than an hour. Our server was very happy and pleasant. Husband ordered the eggs Benedict and said it was the best he had ever had. He loved that the English muffin was thick and homemade and it had a thick slice of real ham. I had the rancher breakfast: 2 eggs, sausage, potatoes and 2 pancakes. HUGE amount of food. I enjoyed the eggs sausage and potatoes. I only ate 1/2 of one pancake. It was VERY dense and filling. I prefer my pancakes light and fluffy. I would not order pancakes again (hence the one missing star). We will certainly be back because there were other things I wanted to try on the menu, and specials I have never heard of ... tri tip scramble and tri tip Benedict ... Has been a favorite in the past; drove 15 miles to dine in here. The service was horrible. Three waiters; 1st waiter took our hot water w lemon order, he never returned, second waiter appeared and took our food order n we told her that the first guy never came back, so she brought our water; third guy brings our food, we asked for more hot water and syrup, he never returned. When we finally got the attention of a waiter, we asked again for water and syrup, finally 2 packages of syrup arrived, and later our hot water arrived. Horrible service!! read more

We dined here recently thanks to the lifting of the recent COVID restrictions. It was cold, but there were plenty of outdoor heaters to go around. The outdoor seating area is adorable! The addition of the string lights gave the space a warm, cheery ambiance. Service was also outstanding! Everyone that we encountered was very friendly. The wine that I requested was out so the wonderful server brought me 2 others to taste and choose from. Our first server ended her shift during our service so another filled in. Same, exceptional service with this young lady as well. Food was delicious. It was our first meal out since 2020 so we had a little of everything. The pizza was delicious. Crust was thin and cooked to perfection. The scallops tasted fresh and came with a delicious cream-based sauce. I had the seafood special - it was a fish (I can't recall the type now), but was it delicious. Not overcooked and came on top of a bed of nicely cooked vegetables. We also tried 2 different desserts, the brownie and chocolate cake a la mode. Word of advice, don't skip dessert! Looking forward to the berry pie on our next visit! read more

Super cute restaurant in a ridiculously adorable town. Went for breakfast and it was really good. Delicious breakfast for a very fair price and great portion sizes. The chicken fried steak was tender, potatoes were perfectly seasoned (no need for any ketchup), and my veggie omelette had wonderfully fluffy eggs. What really jumped out at me was the dessert. Took a giant peanut butter cookie and a triple nut pie back to the hotel. Peanut butter cookie had great peanut butter flavor with a little chew, a little crunch. Triple nut pie was to die for! If you like pecan pie, this pie will hit the spot! It was pecan, walnut and almond pie made just like pecan pie. The three different nuts added a depth of flavor that straight pecan pie lacks (not actually complaining, I love me some pecan pie!). Both the slice of pie and the giant cookie were only $7 and change which made me even more thrilled. read more

Such a disappointment. The only reason there are two stars is because our server was such a pleasant young man, and apologetic. However not his call. We have been coming here for years and start the day with breakfast at this once fine establishment. If a family comes to have breakfast, that includes eggs. My husband could not wait to get in the door to have his favorite dish of all time: toast, sausage, potatoes and of course, poached eggs. We were told the kitchen does not do poached eggs because they take too much time. Well, PCC, could you rub it in any deeper about: *How little our business matters to you, *How much more important the cooks time is, doing their JOB than our satisfaction is, *How you make a customer feel when they are told that In addition, my husband's fruit salad was warm as if prepped and left out, and my side salad was wilted and also warm. Different vibe but food is still good. The last time I actually ate there, it was a brunch break on a bike ride with a bike club over a decade and a half ago. Then, it was a traditional diner offering affordable, plentiful food. In its present reincarnation, the cafe has gone upscale. There is a country, homey vibe with new seating arrangements inside and outside. The wait for tables was a little longer--due to Covid??? The wait took longer than expected--we had only 1 or 1.5 hrs. for lunch. It took about 10-15 min. to come by and take our order. Once someone did take our order and we told them we were in a rush, we were very promptly served and we were able to finish all or part of our lunch within the next 30 min. or so. Their menu was limited--one waffle, one eggs benedict, one day jus beef sandwich, one Reuben, one BLT, etc. What we had (the Reuben and BLT with side garden salads) were prepared well. Their salads were very good, consisting of fresh ingredients with light dressing to enhance the taste of the singredients--side salads are usually not my thing and I usually have low expectations about them. My dh liked his BLT and my Reuben (eaten onsite and hours later in a go-to box) was really good. Best of all, while the tab was average for S.F. Bay Area, the food and overall service were above average quality. We would stop there again while in Winters. read more

Breakfast July 17, 2017. I had a vegetarian omelette with spinach, avocado and cheese. It was one of the best omelettes I've ever had. My husband ordered pancakes... they were amazing. A light, fluffy/chewy sourdough texture, really fabulous. He only likes Crisp bacon and they got it just right. The eggs themselves are local and fresh... Amazing and such a treat. All the staff were incredibly friendly. I think from now on we're only having breakfasts at the PCC in Winters. read more

Great place in a cute little town. Had lunch there this week, nice outdoor patio. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Had the best BLAT I have ever had, crazy amount of bacon. This was a delightful experience. The clams with chorizo were so delicious my whole family and I were trying to scoop up the last drops with pizza crust! The pizza was spectacular. My husband said his hamburger was excellent ( the Cali burger) he asked for medium rare and it was perfect! My daughter loved her whole meal and enjoyed that the fruit side dish was displayed in a lovely fashion. The chocolate cake was moist and the lemon bar was not too sweet... just right.
