I have never written a yelp review before but because I am so annoyed with Putnam Buick I decided that this was a good time to start. I was looking to sell my Buick; I called and asked specifically if there was someone at the dealership that could give me a quote and to see if they were interested in purchasing my car. I spoke with a salesperson named Ed and he said that there was and that I should go over to the dealership and ask for him. I ended up spending a fair bit of time getting there as the address listed on google was wrong. When I got there I found Ed and he immediately wanted my car keys so that he could drive it down the street to someone who could give me a price quote on the value of the car. I asked if I could go with him; his demeanor changed and said that he had to make a call first. It turns out that no one was there who could give me a price quote. If I hadn't asked to go with him, it seems he would have gladly driven someplace only to find that there was no one there and then wasted another half hour of my time. He then said that we should go outside and take a look at the car. As we were heading out there I asked if there was anyone who could give me a ball-park estimate. He said there wasn't and I politely asked if by looking at the car he would be able to give me a figure. He said no and I began wondering if this guy cares at all about my time. It became obvious that he doesn't as he said I should just come back in a couple of days when the person who could give me a quote would be there. He never apologized or seemed the least bit apologetic at all. When I told him I was displeased (because I just spent over an hour of my time to bring the car there) he just said "well, you might not be happy now, but that is just a temporary thing. Once you hear how much we will give you for your vehicle that will change." Some apology and some waste of time. read more

Quick review. My wife and I had a great car buying experience there. We worked with a number of different sales people, including Lou T. Great guy. Worked with us to find out exactly what we needed, and was well prepared to compare both the good and bad of the models we were interested. After 2 days of determined work, Lou helped us drive away in a new Equinox. Exactly what we were looking for. I definitely recommend giving Lou T. He's a straight shooter and Putnam should be glad to have him. read more

I am a single mother of three who doesn't have much time to even get online. Yet I had to write something about this business, specifically the Service Department!! They are awesome, they totally stepped up when my elderly mother had problems with her car-Chevy. They totally made her feel like the most important person from start to finish. (It is always awkward when a woman goes into an automotive business, but no worries here!!) I was lucky enough to deal with the Service Director (Jorge is the best). He quickly stepped up to help us. This review is for the service department. I've been here twice and both times they have been very attentive, super nice, professional, and always explained everything to me without rushing me out. I definitely feel much better dropping my car off here than I did at Stewart in Colma (horrible). I live in South San Francisco and come here instead of the one right by my house, which says a lot. They also have an awesome Peete's coffee machine that makes amazing drinks...that was a plus. read more

Mark is the best service advisor I have ever experienced. Moved here from Michigan and have had many issues with my my leased car, when I was given times weeks out I contacted mark to get me in immediately because I need my car for work and he has been able to get me in and out quick or set me up with a rental and give me any advice I need. I took in my Pontiac Vibe for routine maintenance as well as a recall and Charlie and the team were amazing. They gave me fabulous customer service and when I they needed to keep my car to order a part they gave me a really nice loaner car free of charge. The gave me a very fair price for all the work they did as well and I didn't feel like I was being up-selled or taken advantage of. Thank you Charlie and everyone there for taking care of me. I wanted to share my experience with Irwin Herrera while buying my car. I called him, told him exactly what car I wanted and was specific about the color too since it plays a big deal in my line of business. I came in he was extremely knowledgeable about the car, got the right color at an amazing price. I could not have had a better experience. I was in and out with a bit more that I wanted which was great. He managed to upgrade my package and made me even happier. He is your go to man when getting either a brand new/used car. I appeared on time for my service appointment today, 02/06/19 at 11:00. This was at 198 California St., not 100 which I think is not the correct address. I called (650) 342-4321 to make an appointment last week. The woman at "The Portal" whom I spoke with told me the appointment could not be any earlier than today because it would take that long for the part to arrive. I was assuming the part would be there when I drove the 35 miles to Burlingame, only to be told the part was not there, would be ordered, and could arrive in 10-15 days. The service manager told me "The Portal" could be anywhere and essentially he had no control over it or what I was told on it. It seemed as though "The Portal" was not even associated with this dealership, yet that is the number to call to make an appointment at this dealership. I received two email reminders of my appointment. Neither suggested I call first to be sure the part was there. This is NOT customer service. read more

Service advisor, Chris and shop foreman, Robert, is what great customer service is all about. They both deserve more than EXCELLENT ratings and GM should be glad to have guys like this standing behind them. They both came to my rescue after being treated BADLY at Stewart Chevrolet/Cadillac in Colma. It's ashame after leasing Suburbans from Stewart since the 90's I'd be treated like a king, but NOOOO!!!! The Cadillac service advisor needs to be retrained on how to treat good customer, perhaps spend time with Chris at Putnam to see how good customer service really is. read more

Girls, gals and ladies. Don't ever take your vehicle to Putnam for service. You will leave with your vehicle needing more service and so starts the vicious cycle starts. I took my vehicle into them to have it DIAGNOSED only, and came out with the truck running worst than when I brought it in. The manager said that it is because I choose not to have them fix the problems. If I had paid for them to service it, then I could bring it in if it wasn't running properly. They first create the problem and then expect you to bring it to them to fix it at very high rates. Very, very unhappy with them. read more

Today is April 20 2018 and still no apology from Putnam GMC for despicable behavior from their service manager! GMC cars are great, no complaints about the product but go to another dealership if you want a GMC! I suggest leaving the Bay Area to find a good dealership. At this dealership you will expose yourself to potential abuse from the service manager and NOTHING will be done to rectify the situation. read more

I bought my first Suburban at Putnam in 1995, never had any bad experiences. Sales and Finance people were always nice, courteous and personable. That is why i went there again 2 years ago and bought a new Yukon XL. Again, folks at Putnam were super great, got me a good deal on a very nice car. David Lipsky was helping me and did an outstanding job, he is very friendly and knows his job very well. The problem about buying a Buick is that you need to have it serviced here if you live in SF or on the Peninsula. The car is under warranty for 4 years, which is a good thing. The bad news is that you have to deal with this service department (you have no other options) for those 4 years for any warranty repairs. Their customer service makes the DMV look good. They honestly could care less how long they make you wait and how little they communicate to you about how to proceed without your car. We also have a Toyota and the comparison is night and day. It makes me seriously consider why I would ever buy this brand of car again. read more

Terrible! I got caught in a never-ending "We found another thing...". My initial estimate for fixing my trailer brake controller and a service went from $1100 to over $7000!!! This was mostly due to a brake job that was deemed necessary because of the rust on the brake components on all 4 wheels. To be fair, I live out by the ocean and the salt air is brutal on anything metal. But the estimate on just the parts was over $4000!!!!! With labor, my brake job came to over $6000!!!. I said no, called another reputable auto and brake mechanic who gave me an estimate for the complete brake rebuild that was close to $3000 (if he found it necessary to replace everything) -- less than half of the GMC Price!!!! Then GMC forgot to fix my tire pressure sensors though we had explicitly told him to go ahead. All in all, I was completely worn out and frustrated after dealing with them. Never again will I take my car to a dealer. read more

My husband and I decided "spur of the moment" to car shop Labor Day Weekend. We went to the place we had previously had a great experience buying 3 yrs ago and were met by Pierre when we walked in. Pierre was very knowledgeable, professional, experienced, personable, and when there was a miscommunication regarding the price of the SUV we had landed upon, he made things right within 24 hours and we drove off very happy. This would be a 5-star rating if we had not had to wait over 2 hours to sign the paperwork, but it's definitely a 5-star rating for Pierre! read more

The customer service here is really incredible. Mark Gebhardt has been my service rep for years, and I've always had great experiences. He is an honest, ethical person and a nice guy on top of it all. It's really important to have a service center with trustworthy people who aren't trying to upsell you whenever they can. It's a dealership, so their prices aren't going to be the lowest. However, if you want an honest service center that does quality work, then Putnam Buick Service is great and Mark G is your man. read more

We just bought a Mocha-colored Buick Verano. It was best car experience, very pleasant. We were helped by Hector Santi. He helped us to find the car we wanted. My scheduled maintenance experience on my 2012 GMC Terrain has been great. This was also true of the original sale. Putnam GM is quite serious about customer service. The staff is friendly, explain things really well, answer questions and solicit your opinions. The showroom facility is a beautiful restoration of what looks like a 60 or so year old structure. The maintenance facility is as bright and clean as a medical clinic. Putnam GM is very near the CalTrans Burlingame train station and a great breakfats place called Christie"s. read more

I always bring my enclave here for service. I would rather bring my car here than the one in colma. The service dept is great very professional. The service consultat Charlie Szetu stands out, awesome and very service oriented. He wil help you get the right service and the right price. Absolutely the worst service from any establishment I have ever experienced. Do yourself a big a favor and DO NOT bring your car here. The service managers are horrible. I made 100+ calls over the course of 2 1/2 weeks while my truck was being service without a single answer. Even when I left messages it took 2 days for a response. On top of everything else they kept my truck for 5 times longer than I was originally told and when I finally got it back half the issues were not taken care of and some of the issues they said were fixed came back the next day. Horrible. This place should be shut down. I honestly don't understand how they are even in business. read more
