Service Department is TERRIBLE! I mostly have the same complaints other have... - Poor customer service from the office staff - rude, rude, rude (I was on the phone with someone from their office and instead of putting me on hold, they simply yell across the room to another person to ask a question) - not to mention they argue with the customer over everything. I suspect the service advisors don't even understand the car parts or how things work. - Mechanics CAN NOT FIX ANTHING - if you take it in, it comes back in the same, if not worse condition. - Everytime I have taken my cars in for a simple oil change or tire rotation, they always find something wrong with the car that will cost be between $300-1,000 more (the most recent incident - I took the car to another mechanic they said the work was not necessary). - Car is NEVER ready on the day or time they promise - NEVER! - The "shuttle service" sucks - I tried it once and they would not/ could not find my office so I was stuck. The only reason I continue to take our cars here is because it is the only GM service center anywhere near us and one of our cars is still under a warranty (although this service center always seems to find a loop hole where they won't cover the part or service). On top of all of the crap Putnam does to customers, GM headquarters won't offer to correct or investigate this place. I am pretty sure this place makes up repairs in order to make a buck...REALLY SAD! read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have a GMC warranty on my vehicle and I stopped by one day to get my free oil change on my vehicle and they would not honor it. They tried to still get me to do it but told me I would have to pay for it and that it would take 3 hours or until the next day. I looked around and it seemed like no one was even doing any work, and when I walked out I looked in the repair shop and no one was even working on a vehicle. If I was GM I would shut this place down for giving their company such a bad reputation. I still don't understand why they would not honor my warranty other than they just wanted to screw me over and make some cash off me since they're all sleazy scumbags. I would never go back and in the future I will look for another dealership and/or manufacturer with a better reputation. I do enjoy my vehicle, but this place would make me think twice about where I take my car to get serviced. read more

After buying a new Delani from them and after fruitlessly for years trying to get them to fix things, took it to another place and now the Yukon drives great. Absolutely horrendous service. I went to Putnam due to a recall on my car. Even though I had letters from GM with my VIN number clearly labelled, the service manager tried to tell me that my car was not recalled. I had to contact the corporate office, and even they had to talk to the service manager three times before he acknowledged that they were obligated to service my vehicle. After weeks of excuses, they finally fixed my car, but when I went to pick it up, they had lost it! It took 4 people 45 minutes to track down what they had done with my car. This is one of the most unorganized businesses I have ever seen. read more

The worst dealer. Stay away from this dealer who lures you in to test drive offering lift tickets. After you test drive, they claim they don't have them yet. First of all I would like to start by saying that i previously gave this dealership a 5 star review. I have purchased 3 vehicles from them in the past and never had any problems. That being said, this year I decided to go to Putnam and order a new truck. I spoke with Bob Davis (The fleet sales manager)and he suggested that I come down and order the truck from him. Everything at 1st seemed to go OK. Until I questioned Bob about putting cab lights on the vehicle. He stated that having cab lights on a non dually truck was not legal in California. So I left it at that. After several weeks passed by, I found myself at a Dodge dealership. While walking the lot, I realized there were many trucks that were non dually that had cab lights. The 1st thing I thought is how can this be, so I asked the sales manager how Dodge was getting away with not being California compliant!? He said he was not aware of any kind of law! After leaving the Dodge dealer I started scouring the Web trying to find an answer, and was unsuccessful. Even though it was a mood point at this juncture. I decided to call Bob to check on the status of my vehicle,and once again ask him about this so called law. His response was completely out of line( " I don't Know why Chevy and GMC do it this way and quite frankly I don't give a s***!"). I was shocked That he would Speak to a customer this way. After being a long time customer to this dealership I am appalled At the way I was treated And will never purchase a vehicle from any Putnam dealership again. read more

I have to state that the Service here, although not done on time even though I will cal ahead of coming, Jacob has been GREAT!!! Always courteous and will find the answer to the best of his ability. The sales department, OHHHHH WHAT A DIFFERENT STORY! By the way, me personally, it only takes ONE bad experience to pull me away, due to this, I will never go back even for service, I dont support A$$Holes. So I show up, after having countless problems with my Mercedes E500. I was greated by a nice sales person who seemed to have his mind somewhere else, but was kind none the less. After driving the vehicle and agreeing that we liked it. I went inside to complete paperwork. I told the guy, look, I want to leave with a vehicle today cause I need to leave the Mercedes a the dealership and after being late and missing working I didnt have time to mess around. He said NO PROBLEM. When we start working out the paperwork, a Manager comes up and starts with an attitude, acting like he is so GRAND. WTF Ever! Then I tell him the same thing, he says NO PROBLEM we will have you out today. The come back to me asking 10k down and huge monthly payment, I tell him, can we do less down, and alittle less on the monthly, he walks away, about 20 min later he comes back and says, We will call you later this week. UMMM HELLOOOO!!!! After an hour and a half thats all you can say. He says, we guarantee we can finance you, but we wont today. I ask him what was the whole thing about leaving today, he says "OH thats because you wont pay us 10k down, so there is nothing to negotiate." We get into it back and forth, he tells me, At this point, I think you are trying to steal a $68k car. :-\ :-/ OK Mr. Sales Man. NOW ITS ON!!! First off, I have an H1 Hummer that they have serviced about 7 times. I have been an officer in the US Army for 6 years. You are going to hand me this $h!T. DONT THINK SO. Then the other sales manager walks up and says, just ignore him and go help another customer and they both walk away. THEN the MF has the nerve to call me back and tell me he appreciates me stopping by and hopes we can work out a deal. Those people need some PROZAC and serious therapy. read more

Worst Service Department ever! I have bought 3 new cars from here, a 2011 and 2 2012 Chevy Cruze's. Until this last year I thought I was very happy, But after the last two Services we have done on 2 different cars, I will never ever step foot in this dealership again. Never have I ever been treated so rudely, by the service department. They totally ripped off my Daughter, where we have religiously had our cars serviced on time. They missed a complete service evaluation on my daughter's brakes which costed us over a thousand dollars 2 months after having it serviced there and they did not catch the problem with the brake pads. This last time, which will be the very last time I do business with them, I tried to make a appointment for another one of our cars with a check engine light on, but they couldn't give me an appointment till a week later on a Friday, I did a drop off the night before that Friday, filling out the drop off note with my keys, I put my cell number down, for contact, but they have to have a record of other numbers to reach me, as I bought the car from them, all 3 cars have always been serviced with them. The Service Advisor, was rude when he was able to get a hold of me the following day around noon, because my phone was not working properly (which I mention my records with them will indicate another phone they could call me by) Told me it was too late to do a diagnostic check on it, that their mechanics go home at 4pm, and that they wouldn't get to it till Monday. When filling out my forms the night before, I had written on the form that that was what they needed to do, so why didn't they just do it, thats why I had the appointment. Already I am borrowing everybody else car, because when the check engine light came on, I did not want to have anything happen to the car. So it has been already 1 1/2 weeks that I am without a car. On Monday he tells me they have to order a part, on Tuesday he tries to sell me tires for the car, There is no freaking way I am giving that place anymore money then I have too, The Service advisor tells me to call back after lunch if I change my mind. Not changing my mind, no need to call. No call from him to tell me the status of my car. I call Wednesday, he tells me my car was ready Tuesday. That I was suppose to call him about the tires after lunch on Tuesday. I informed him, that he told me to call only if I changed my mind about the tires. CREEP! The entire time, he was very insulting, very condescending, and would talk over me, whenever i tried to talk, he may been an old timer there but he will be the main reason why I never go back. Not to mention how bad the department has really gotten. Not being able to get an appointment in a timely fashion is really bad business! DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A SUBARU. I have major regrets that I didn't follow example of buying a Subaru like my son! read more

I saw a commercial saying $499 a month down and $199 a month for a Buick Encore. So the next day my husband and I went to the Burlingame dealership and told the sales rep about this commercial ad. The salesman said that we must have not have seen the commercial right, and there is no such promotion .... Okay! So, today I saw the same commercial with this promotion on KRON at 5:00pm. So I picked up the phone and call the toll free number to as why the Burlingame dealership won't honor this deal. The phone rep said he had no idea what this offer was about. So NO BODY knows about this offer that is running a commercial that I saw twice! FALSE ADVERTISEMENT ! Waste of my time and know one knows what's going on. What I do know is that this commercial is still running and the sales reps, bone heads, won't honor this deal. Don't waste your time!!!!!! read more

Started out at this dealership when looking for a truck. The salesman was very helpful and courteous, however, when it came down to negotiating the deal they did not hold their end of the bargain which was disturbing. They ended up losing the deal. Would suggest being careful and getting any agreements in writing. read more

Okay...After the special ended last week..I called and the deal was still on. So, I went down and was shown the vehicle, road tested and Loved it. Back to the showroom and was offered refreshment from the salesman...Okay...I was going to buy the car anyways...but Hey, I am getting thirsty in here after about an hour waiting for the paperwork and stuff. This is normal I guess. My first car purchase...Wait until you buy a house...You will be there for three hours and no offer of water either. The salesman was nice and offer to have me inspect the vehicle in the detailing room due to it was in the evening time and even offer a free detail on my next service. I have to return my car for some warranty work over the past two years and have good experience with the service from the service technicians who have done great work. I can't speak for the service writer, Some are not as knowledgeable about cars as we write. Or their favorite line. " Your car is being work on as we speak." I always wonder about that....??? read more

If I could give a negative star I would. This place is absolutely the worst in regards to customer service and price gauging. I do not know what possessed me to bring my Yukon here having had poor service in the past, but I did and what a mistake! My check engine light lit up and I was also having some issues with the engine not turning over as quickly as I was used to. I figured I would get an oil change as well since it was there. Was given an estimate of $385 to correct the issues. Received a call on Tuesday with an estimate of over $1,000! I had a bad solenoid, which Putnam replaced in 2011 and even though it is something that I was told rarely goes out I was on the hook for this, as well as $60 for an oil change, $163 to hook my car up to a computer for the diagnostic and another $125 to tell me that I needed to have my battery replaced, NOT for the actual battery - just to tell me it needed to be replaced. Unbelievable! I told them not to proceed and that I would pick it up the next day, and then asked what my bill was...it was a ridiculous $350...$60 for the oil change and $290 to "diagnose" my car. The service advisor, Mark, then told me I was being unreasonable when I said that the amount he quoted was "shocking!". He asked me what I thought was fair and I said I would be happy to pay for the actual work done on the car, he strongly and quite unprofessionally let me know that he would take off the $125 battery charge but that I was taking advantage and not being fair (he actually said that) and I would still be charged for the simple task of hooking my car up to a computer. I told him that my normal garage does not charge for this service and he replied in a snotty voice that maybe I should have taken the car there. I couldn't agree more! Mark acted like a petulant child that had to give up money out of his own pocket. I picked it up today and basically paid $225 for a simple oil change, awesome. Not only will I never bring my car here I will never buy another car or truck from any business that has the word Putnam in it ever again. read more

I had to go here when the key-less entry remote stopped working on my truck. It's one of the few items that means you have to go to the dealer if it breaks. I drove in to the service drive, and nobody approached me. I walked in to the service department and could not tell where the service counter was. The service department is like a maze of desks in a room that looks like it is still in the 70s. Finally someone wisked by me and said "how can I help you?". After answering he directed me to some other guys sitting at a desk. Guy number 2 sat at his desk and ignored me until I asked him if he was a service advisor. When I told him my remote was not working he directed me to some other guy. Guy number 3 was not at his desk so I waited. Guy number 3 never showed up. Guy number 2 eventually (about 5 minutes later) realized this and tested my remote on a tester in guy number 3's desk. He said "yeah, it's working fine, so it will be $153.00 to diagnose it". I told him the remote was not that big of a deal right now and started to walk out. He then says "oh...well...it may be the battery". I went to the parts counter and the person who worked there is the only reason the review is getting 2 stars. He replaced the batttery and at least seemed to try to help. The battery did nothing. Guy number 2 came back and said "yep...hundred and fifty three bucks". I worked as a service tech at Ford dealerships for 6 years. I would never speak to a customer like this. people at delaerships treat you like this when they know you can't go to an independent shop. If I want my factory remote to work, I must have the dealer reprogram it. If I was there for a 30k service (or any other dealer rip off that they try to sell to women mostly) they would be getting my coffee. To make it worse, the service drive has one way arrows that lead up their parking ramp. It's a bit tricky getting out of there if you have a Silverado. When I do get my remote re-programmed it will not be in Bulringame. I'll find another dealership and drive further just to not give them my money. I will also get free coffee when I go there. read more

We came to Putnam Buick, Pontiac and GMC on August 31st 2007 looking for GMC Yukon XL to upgrade our fleet. The sales representative told us that he needs the deal to get his bonus for August and this is why he will offer us the incredible deal on brand new GMC Yukon - we will pay $32,000 instead of $42,000. We were so happy that I signed the contract without even looking, but I did not take the car because it was late at night, and the dealer said that they will not be able to get it ready for me. When I came home and read the contract I saw the $42,000 instead of $32,000 as we discussed with the sales person. We went there next day and told them that they lied to us and I am not taking delivery of this car, especially we needed different color and trim level for our purpose. We were told that we had really good financing and this is why the price became higher!? As far as we were already at the dealership we decided to buy the different vehicle instead: 2007 GMC Yukon Denali XL, we needed it in black, with rear entertainment system and with bench seat in the middle row. They had this car in stock, I signed the contract and when I went outside to get the car, I was told that this car had been in an accident: the sales person's helper hit it against the gas station damaging the running board and the rear fender. They offered me to take this car! Of course, I rejected this offer. I also would like to mention that this particular dealership does not have mechanics and detailers on duty on the weekends. I am not sure, but I have a feeling that dealers suppose to have the new car cleaned, fueled and ready for the customer at the time of delivery. At the third attempt I got 2008 GMC Yukon Denali XL, the only car they had at this time with the same configuration that 2007 damaged vehicle. However they told me that this car has some kind of upgraded wheels that they will replace with the standard size. I offered them that I will return to get the car next day, and asked them to give me a ride home, but they refused. It was my third day at this dealership, and all I wanted to get out of there! And never come back. I took the delivery of the car with the full tank of gas, but it was not cleaned or ready. I also told them that I will not have time to come back for detail or change tires. I got an answer not to worry about this. And I did not. Until I started to get telephone calls to return with $2000 to pay for the wheels I did not even needed! I offered them to come to San Jose (dealership is in Burlingame) and change the wheels if they need them. I did not get much enthusiasm from them. After couple of telephone calls I received some certified mail that I never had time to get at the post office. Then I got served with the court papers that I was sued in San Mateo County Small Claims Court for the cost of wheels ($2000)! 02/05/2008 - court decided that defendant (me) does not owe plaintiff (Putnam GMC, Buick, Pontiac) any money on plaintiff's claim. I bought new and used cars from the dealerships before, but never been so much lied to and being sued! When I told them that they are not going to get a good review from me - they told that they do not care that I am not going to get the survey because I bought the car for my business. They also mixed up something with the registration, and I was not able to use the car for extra two months because of this. My business lost about 3,000 because of their mistake. read more

So i drive 50 minutes in traffic just to see the truck and then they said Sorry we gave the wrong quote to you. Then they gave me the right quote and the price jumped up 4000$ .So basically we wasted 3 hours of our time just to here they gave us the wrong price. I took my 2006 Canyon to the dealership as I was told that I needed a new computer. I waited several days for the diagnostics to be done. The computer was on "backorder" and I needed a new "cylinder" as the head was worn down. $7,400 estimated repairs!!!!! My car only has 103,000 miles on it. I was devastated. The customer is charged $198 per hour for labor alone. My son knows cars and told me to get it out of there, he talked to them as I felt intimidated when I was told that the dealership would have to "eat the costs" of the ordered computer. How does one "eat the cost" of a backordered computer? I took my car to Uptown in San Bruno, a new computer was installed, no cylinder was needed. Total $1,500 in charges. Do not take your car to GMC! read more

Recently I purchased a 2013 Avalanche from Anton Ziadeh. First of all I could not be happier with the vehicle. But, the service and sales department defintiely took care of me. They were able to beat the prices that I had been quoted at other dealers and then took care of everything else for me. Service dept was less than helpful. Bad customer service by Service advisor Chris Pitambar right from the beginning. Sped through entire check in process when I came in for Just a Estimate. Then wanted to act like he was cutting me a deal for basically blind siding a customer. Most places I know would explain things to customer and not rush them. Putnam GM states that the Goal is for customer to be completely satisfied. Well I was made to feel like a new customers potential business is treated secondary to warranty service customers. Sad that employess wake up feeling ok in the morning when they get over on customers on the daily. read more

A BIG shout out to Shomar, as well as the rest of the Putnam team who helped us with the purchase of a 2018 Buick Encore. My husband contacted Shomar on Friday to get some initial pricing info. I then began an email conversation with Shomar when I got home from work. I said that I was not interested in the 3 hour, stand up, sit down negotiation process that you generally find at a car dealership. Shomar offered me their best deal at about 9:00 pm, we were at the dealership at 9:00 am, and all we basically had to do was to wait for the paperwork to be prepared, and then be signed by us. It was the EASIEST car purchasing experience we have ever had, no joke. If you are in the market for a Buick, GMC, or Cadillac vehicle, do yourself a favor and contact Shomar at Putnam. As far as I can tell this place is a about as bad as you can get the sales consultant Shoram Mofidi does not return emails with answers to questions. They keep sending me auto responses. I live several hundred miles away and wanted specific questions answered. He could not answer basic questions like how much is the car. I have asked multiple times for them to stop contacting me and they keep harassing me with spam. I would run away from this place as they do not care about customers. Even the Manager does not return emails. WASTE OF TIME!!!! read more
