Puttshack is a ton of fun but the overall organization upon arrival borders on cartoonish! We got there on a Saturday night which I completely understand is likely the busiest time. There were tons of people standing around, unsure what to do, with little to no guidance. We had a reservation and completed our check in. From there you get a text that more or less says hang in there. Lots of people had no idea what to do or where to go. About ten minutes later we got another text directing us to the course to start. We got there and joined another line and then got started. Overall the holes and course design are fun, creative, and make for an interesting experience! The game play is VERY slow. Depending on the size of the groups in front of you it could take very long. There was no real course drunk service as we only saw a waitress once the entire time we were on the course. Can only speak to the service at the bar and the games - both excellent. It was only their second day and the staff was well informed. Room for improvement: COAT CHECK. We waited a solid 20+ minutes to get our coats, the line had a good amount of people in it. When asked if anyone was going to expedite the line, the manager said he had 4 people back there. The bad-incredibly overcrowded, definitely over the capacity listed on the wall for the emerald course, elbow to elbow, waiting for holes to open up, the amber course was empty the entire time the emerald course was slammed with people. Repeated holes if you play multiple courses, at least 2 of the same holes repackaged on every course. Holes not functioning, balls not functioning. The obvious-$100 for 3 people to play 18 holes of minigolf. Perspective-the franklin square minigolf is $39 for 3 people to play and has many more trick holes, spread out for ease of play. read more

The staff though they tried to be helpful they were not helpful in reality. The system was assigning everyone to the same 9-hole but the staff member had the good mind to reassign us to the other 9-hole that were less crowded. However instead of telling us that we shouldn't take the shot until the light is green we only learned that after I took a shot that did not register until after the shot. Come to find out my ball wasn't working and I had to get it another one. Also we were not told that some of the games i.e. the trivia game, had specific instructions that need to be follow in order to possibly win. It was a quick game and an okay experience but I do not think I would do it again. read more

Fun concept of indoor putt-putt type golf, but with really unique stations that are lit up glow in the dark. We went with our 14yr old and he also had a blast. I really wanted to love this place because the vibes are actually great--there's a DJ, the place is nice, and the atmosphere feels like a good time waiting to happen. But unfortunately, the service was a huge letdown. I'm usually very understanding when it comes to staff being tired or overworked but it wasn't packed when my guest and I arrived so I am not sure what the issue is. Security was cold and borderline hostile, which just set the wrong tone. We were asked to check in at a kiosk and had tables reserved so there was 15 mins of waiting around the get clear directions. Then at the bar, it took about 20 minutes just to get a drink because no one came to our reserved table to take orderswithin the first 30 mins of arriving. The bartender was incredibly rude--not just to me, but openly to others around me. In fact, someone next to me waiting even said, "I've never paid so much to be disrespected at a bar." And honestly, that summed it up perfectly. Thankfully, my friends and I made the most of it and still had fun. I was here for the first time yesterday and will not be back. My party of 4 adults showed up, signed in, and made our way to the bar to kill some time before our reservation. While the place was busy, it was definitely nowhere near full capacity. That said, we stood at the bar for almost 15 minutes (that was not packed-) before even being acknowledged. That should've been the first clue. As we were waiting to get our balls upon getting notification that we should make our way to the Amber area, the attendant kept leaving to go address technical difficulties around the playing space. We finally get our balls and are told that we don't have to go in order but that we just need to end at hole 9 cuz that hole eats the balls. We started at hole 1 on our track. We saw a bunch of children at hole 2, so we opted to move to hole 6 on our track which was open. We were following the instructions of setting our ball in the designated area and waiting for the system to register our players before putting. In the middle of our group's game? The name of another party showed up on the screen at hole 6. Confused, we paused to seek an attendant. As one of us went to do this, the other party approached... a family of 5 or 6... 2 adults and some tweens. The father immediately became aggressive and was getting loud demanding that we move. We attempted to explain what happened and he became even more aggressive. The entire exchange was horribly off putting. We ended up taking our putters and balls back to check in (after 1 1/2 holes) and telling the attendant what happened and that we were out. He simply said okay and didn't go investigate the situation at all. Listen, people are going to be belligerent and entitled any and everywhere. And while I don't expect Puttshack to be able to control that, there are definitely things that could've happened to avoid that entire interaction... especially for what was paid to be there: - Additional employees on the floor to monitor nonsense like that - Clearly addressing the technical issues that seem to be a thing based on other reviews here - Not telling people to just play any hole on their specified color's track. The attendant we dropped our stuff back at on the way out said to let that family play and to just come back to the hole.... Which is stupid... if our party was in the middle of our turn and we could allegedly go out of order. At that rate, why didn't that party just go to another hole, you know? The wishy washy instruction from Puttshack caused unnecessary conflict. A member of my party told the very front desk what had happened on our way out and the woman gave us 4 free games. What in the hell are we to do with that??? Aside from only half the party living here, the other half of us have zero interest in being back there. It's convenient due to its location but there are certainly other mini golf options in this city that isn't this mess. read more

I've been here twice and look forward to coming back for more because the mini golf is just really that fun. Its like nowhere else, it's creative, and each course offers something a little different. The drinks are also strong and very good and the food is pretty good. My only complaint is that while the staff has all been nothing but very friendly and wonderful to interact with, service has been very slow both times I've gone. I don't blame the staff personally, I just think Puttshack maybe underestimated how busy their Philly location would be when they opened and didn't hire enough staff because the staff always looks BUSY with all the people there. With that said, I still recommend getting drinks and food here as long as you keep that in mind. This place could have a lot of potential. Went here on a Saturday night with a party of 11. The golfing experience was amazing when it worked. Kinda cool that the golf ball automatically knows who is putting to keep track of score. The minigolf course was very fun and unique but sometimes the balls did not register so some had to repeat the hole. The service was not so great due to being understaffed. They had no waiting staff to order beverages at the mini golf areas so we had to order at the bar delaying our game. The waiting staff and bartenders were overworked. There were several mishaps when we reserved a table. We had to share cloth napkins because they ran out, they gave us the wrong bill and gave us just one set of utensils. They also ran out of multiple beers and all beers on tap. Smh. They had the ball games on the tv near the bar and had a really good DJ. Horrible opening day! Water main break and canceling reservations without a longer notice. We drove in from NJ to check this spot out and wasted our night. People were inside playing so we didn't understand how they had a water main break. The security guard on one end told us to wait 10 minutes and then we tried another entrance and the security guard there said the didn't have a time table. After waiting an hour after our reservation time and still not even getting close to the course entrance , we had to leave as we had dinner reservations. Not my issue as I understand- stuff happens. My problem is when asking for a refund, I was told I could fill out a piece of paper "but nothing is guaranteed". If I pay for a service and you have technical difficulties that make it impossible for me to utilize the service I should get a refund. Also tried to reaching out after the fact on their website for a refund- no response. Bad business! Will not be going back. read more

Despite this decent amount of time, they utterly and defiantly REFUSED to cut our pizza. Wow, what a disappointing experience! This place has started to write it in and stop trying. The place was freezing cold, so we had to leave our winter coats on while we played golf. Then sat at a freezing cold table while we ate dinner. I can only think that they are trying to save money on heating costs. Then we had the most lackluster service overall, with no one really making you feel welcome or fun. The workers were all pretty much miserable or just trying to make it through their shift. We didn't see anyone that appeared to care about the place or the guests. We had to book a few weeks ahead of our appointment only to find the place more than half empty and two of the "courses" closed. Then we had to wait 20 minutes to get a drink, and another 10 minutes to be told that they would have to go into the storage room if we really insisted on olives with my martini... so I just got a beer. Did I mention that the place was dead, yet we couldn't get basic service needs. Why would it take so long to and so frustrating to try to give you money? Why not provide a server that takes drink orders while we are playing golf? Then we had to wait in line to play golf. Then the golf balls stopped working and we pretty much had to abandon our game and guess who won. Where is the management of this place? Does anyone really care about fixing all the repeated complaints about service and general management? Go for the Golf. Indisputably pathetic, abysmal, and embarrassing Bar service. It was genuinely faster to go across the street to a cooler place with better quality, order a drink, finish it, and walk back than wait the 20-30 minutes for a drink from their bar. After reading other reviews, this is a common theme. I recommend Libertee Grounds a few blocks up for mini golf in philly with better bar service. SPIN is a ping pong place closer but, again, miles better bar service. My boyfriend and I arrived and checked in for golf at 8:00 for our 8:20 game time. We grabbed one of the many open bar seats since it wasn't noticeably busy. We were never served and had to leave at 8:25 because we didn't want to miss our golf time. One of the two bartenders only prioritized men who came up to the bar after us, even groups than came up 15-20 minutes after we sat down. The other bartender looked miserable, made eye contact with us, but she turned around to text after we smiled at her, as she just finished serving a group next to us. I'd understand if we were passed over once or twice, it's a big circular bar, but we were flat out ignored for 25 minutes while multiple groups on both sides of us were prioritized. We are genuinely patient and understanding people with former nightclub bartending experience. In the middle of the 9 holes of golf, my boyfriend left by himself to try to get drinks again. We assumed they were short staffed and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Shockingly, The bar was busier than when we entered, yet miraculously, when he was on his own, he received immediate service. when I was with him, he was ignored and passed over for 30 minutes. He still tipped over 20% because we figured they were understaffed/overwhelmed and wanted to give them grace/understanding, considering it's a new establishment. The golf portion was fun. It was cool how high tech it was. The ball is synced to the system and it keeps track of the score for you. The employees attending were miles more personable, hospitable, and kinder than the "service" staff. the only reason i'd give this place 2/5 stars was because of the golf side of the experience. We attempted to sit at the bar again after golf was over, as it had slowed down even more. Again, we ignored for 10+ minutes while people who arrived after us were taken care of first. Both times we went to the bar together this happened. I noticed half of the bar being completely ignored for 10+ minutes as well, all groups of women. After being ignored a second time for 15+ minutes, we decided to go grab a drink at one of the 10,000 cooler bars less than a block away. we never got a second round. Embarrassingly bad service from the miserable bartenders who were too busy texting in the side station to get a drink for anyone who didn't have a wang. The place has potential to be fun. Management needs to have a serious conversation about not alienating 50% of the population or investing a quality bar team who doesn't ignore the entire female demographic.
