As a fan of Marvel and wacky drinks this was a place that I had to try while in California Adventure. The bar is an outdoor seating area that has a great view of the Avenger's building. You can watch the Marvel heroes walk by the building and on the above catwalk while you sip your cocktail or bring food over from the test kitchen. The sitting is limited and the shaded seating is even more so. I'm sure at night it would be easier to find a good spot (this is true with everything at Disneyland and California Adventure though). I had The Regulator. Which is a beer cocktail made with Mango Cart wheat beer (a beer that I already really like), tequila (which I am also a fan of), habanero syrup (love spicy things), and mango filled boba. Overall, these flavors all really hit for me. The bartender told me to stir the whole drink so the booze wasn't floating and this was a good recommendation but I think I stirred it too heavily because all the boba got trapped under the ice and made them hard to get. The cocktails are not made to order, and mixed beforehand, which means they can't make any alterations to it. I personally didn't like how super sweet it was. But, my sister, lovess sweet drinks, so maybe you'd like it if you're more like my sister. Again, I recommend ordering online in advance if you're able to! For you non-Marvel peeps, "Pym Testing Kitchen" is the California Adventure fast food restaurant named after Hank Pym, a fictional scientist who is best known as Ant Man (ability to shrink and command ants), and Giant Man (ability to grow in a giant). He is an original Avenger from the Marvel comic book series that differs from the movies where he was introduced much later. So why name a kitchen after him? I guess supposedly for weird food concoctions that you might find from a "mad" scientist. Mad being he created Ultron in the comic books. So what kind of weird food? How about a big fried chicken sandwich where the bun is a third of the size of the fried chicken patty, a pasta with plant-based meatballs and dairy-free Parmesan cheese, and a PB&J lemonade infused with pb&j flavors. There are other strange concoctions fitting the name of a test kitchen run by Dr Hank Pym, but we only had these three and we're glad that we did as we did not want to get sick from this carnival style fare. Food is food, nothing more, nothing less, move-on, move-on, civilian. When I saw they released a drinking lab in the new Avengers Campus, I was stoked! So many options to choose from! Beers, cocktails, beer cocktails! It is located near the Guardian of the Galaxy ride. We drank there around 8pm and there were no lines, but during the day the lines aren't super long either (probably around 20 minutes). My partner and I really wanted to try the beer cocktails because they're unique and we saw them all over tik tok. The honey fusion ($14) was my personal favorite. Super sweet and tangy. The molecular meltdown ($16) was just okay, but if you really like bitter, creamy, and stouts you'd love it! Well you too can do these things at the newly minted Pym Tasting Lab inside Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. Pym is based on Pym labs from Marvel's Ant-Man movies. The concept is that they've been inundated with Pym particles so the food and drink is rather unusual but tasty. Believe it or not, you can order a marshmallow stout float or a honey gin IPA cocktail via your mobile app. It was a hot day when we visited so we definitely wanted some Disney cocktails to quench our thirst. Prices are high but you're also not tipping the bartender so, I suppose it's worth a try, if you're interested in the alcohol. The mocktails are fun drinks too. Service was good for us so we had no complaints. I can't wait until Disney unveils the new "membership" program to replace the former Annual Passports, so I can get my Disney drink on more frequently. Came to Disneyland on a girls trip for July 4th and we were highly anticipating the drinks at the Pym Tasting lab. Unfortunately, we left pretty disappointed. The ordering process was smooth through the app. I'd recommend placing your order a few hours in advance through the Disney app and scheduling the pick up time. Once we were notified that our order was ready, we stood in line for about 5 minutes and then they made the drinks at the bar. Deducting a star for running out of the clear beaker cups. We picked up our drinks around 12:50pm, so it's not like it was even late in the afternoon. Instead, they gave us these ugly neon yellow cups that weren't even cute for pictures. We ordered 4 drinks. A lot of them had popping boba, but you couldn't' drink it with the compostable straws they gave us... I think the boba is more of a gimmick than for flavor. The Particle Fizz sounded the best, but we thought it was the worst. It tasted like flavored sparking water with alcohol. My friends enjoyed the x-periment and also the regulator. The Molecular Meltdown is good if you're a beer drinker. The vanilla ice cream turned it into a beer float. For ~$16 a drink, we had hoped for more. Be sure you're in Avengers Campus first though- ordering a drink alone will NOT let you skip the line or virtual queue to get into Avengers Campus. You'll then check in when it's your time, and there may be a short wait. However, you'll get your drink shortly and enjoy what the Tasting Lab offers! My friend got the Particle Fizz, and I got the Honey Buzz. They were both served in plastic souvenir lab beakers- how fitting! I can't speak for my friend's drink, but the Honey Buzz reminded me of an iced lemon honey tea! There was also a solid honey stick in it, which added an extra sweetness to the drink. I couldn't taste the gin that was in it, but I'm sure there was a Disneyland appropriate amount mixed into it. Be warned, it's pricey and you'll pay a pretty penny for all the drinks here. Pleasantly surprised with their drinks here. The bar is outdoors so be prepared to be outside in the sun. You're not allowed to linger at the bar either so finding a table space is a bit troublesome. Menu consists of adult drinks aside from soda and water. The Regulator ($15) - I was quite drawn to this item because of the "mango flavor-filled boba" which I figured would be popping boba. It has patron, mango wheat ale, mango syrup, and habanero syrup though there isn't a lot of habanero syrup so the mango flavor was more prominent. The popping boba was a great element to add, and I suggest going into the test kitchen to grab a spoon. This drink was sweet and delicious. I easily drank most of this. Honey Buzz ($16) - Gin, lemon juice, and honey. The honey straw is not a straw but a stick of honey to stir your drink as it melts (your hands will get sticky). The more you drink, the sweeter it gets. This was a stronger drink than The Regulator. Molecular Meltdown ($16) - Marshmallow milk stout with vanilla ice cream and mini marshmallows. The first time I tried this place I had the Honey Buzz drink it was sweet with a little bitter taste to it but it was good. Recently I got this non alcoholic drink called popping particle punch it was bomb I highly recommend this it also has pop rocks in it so you can hear the crackling sound from them. Four stars because I'm still in the honeymoon phase of my first visit to the Avengers Campus in Disney CA Adventure!! Pym Testing Lab is where you can purchase that 21+ beverage to enjoy while exploring the rest of the campus. It was super easy to place the order on the app and then head to the numbered station to verify ID and pick up the drink. There were 3 cocktails to select from, as well as beer cocktails and beers. I ordered the X-periment ($19) which was tequila based with mango boba. I have to say, for a 90degree day, this was super refreshing although on the sweet/syrupy side. What was super cool was that it was served in a plastic Pym lab beaker and so I got to take home a little souvenir. It might be a better deal than nearby carts that sell your average non-alcoholic soft drink bottles and to get that with a souvenir Marvel item it costs $27. read more

Sorry again, Marvel. We got the Particle Fizz drink, which is a hard seltzer with cherry popping boba... which I have many comments about. It was unfortunately the most disappointing thing we got from Avenger's Campus. We were told to pop the boba first because "that's where all the flavor comes from." But... the boba is impossible to pop LOL. And the straws are not large enough for the boba to go through?? We all spent a good couple of minutes just jabbing at the bottom of the cups trying to make the darn things explode to no avail. The solution was to just get a spoon, pop them in your mouth first, and then take a sip of the (completely flavorless and almost non-alcoholic) hard seltzer. It's pretty nasty without the little balls, and there are not enough of them to accommodate all of the seltzer. ....I'm confused here, Disney. It was also very expensive for what it was and we did not receive it in those cool plastic beakers unfortunately. Ours came in the plain plastic cups they use for water. :/ I'd say the Particle Fizz is a no-go, but maybe the honey drink (gin) would be more worth the money. When it comes to Disney, I'm a die-hard. I'll spend an absolute insane amount of money on merch, but it's the food and drinks that make my wallet cry. I'll gladly fork over $20 for a cocktail in DCA because I expect the drink to be tasty and good looking. Unfortunately, Pym Tasting Lab fell short on both fronts. First, I'm not even going to get into the madness that was Avenger Campus opening weekend. That you can read in its own separate review. This is solidly a review for the outdoor cocktail area called Pym Tasting Lab (not to be confused with Pym Kitchen). We ordered cocktails on the mobile app (after having some terrible troubles accessing throughout the day). We ordered for the last slot of the evening (8:50pm), knowing they closed the park at 9pm but also that they were allowing plenty of visitors to walk around and take photos well after 9pm the evening before. We selected the option that "We are here" and to start prepping our drinks. A line began to form outside of PTL and we decided to line up too since 8:50pm had come and gone. After a massive amount of confusion, and the Cast Member also being confused, we were ushered to our bartender who began our drinks. By now it was 9pm and the rushed feeling from the employees were starting to stress me out. At 9:07pm we had our drinks and quickly scanned for a table. No tables to be had. We opted for a bar-top area that we kind of made into our own. Normally, I wouldn't do this but given that they were closing up and pushing people out I felt we needed to get to consuming ASAP and walking around with big beakers of booze was a no-no due to COVID. The Particle Fizz was horrific. Flavorless hard seltzer in a semi-warm state with popping boba. If the boba were able to be popped within the seltzer I could see where the taste came from, otherwise the it was just plain nasty. Plus it was warm - hard pass. The Honey Buzz cocktail with gin, lemon juice and a honey straw was okay. And the X-Periment tasted like nothing since they were out of the syrups (but only told us this after they made the drinks). In all, it was a disappointing experience and something I truly hope to find is rectified on our next visit. read more

I probably should have mixed it a little more because boy did I have my own shot of Patron when I took my first sip lmao. I also want to note that it's deceiving are the "mango flavor-filled boba," because when one reads "boba" they are usually expecting tapioca pearls and not the popping bubbles that are served with this drink. Additionally, the drink was just handed to me with no special boba straw, which makes finishing/enjoying this drink very difficult. How am I expected to eat the popping bubbles if the regular-sized paper straw I'm given is half the diameter of the popping bubbles? It makes no sense. Finishing the drink was an awkward game of minute to win with the straw ultimately giving into using a spoon to catch these little things caught at the bottom of the cup. In my group one of the girls had gotten the hard kombucha and it was delicious, I had put some into my x-periment to see if it helped the flavor and it did so that was good to know. Usually I get the non alcoholic option since it is a fun alternative and still is a fizzy drink thats not a soda, however I wanted to try something new. Even though I wasn't a fan of my drink I now know that for next time. The line goes by quick since they have multiple people working behind the bar. The beer I ordered filled up from the bottom of a specially designed cup. I ordered the prohibition amber ale. It was cold and refreshing. So good! If I can use it to entice my husband to join me in my Disney park antics, it's an automatic winner in my book! Their menu offers beer, hard seltzers, wine, non-alcoholic drinks and some bar type munchies (though you can order something more hearty to eat next door at the PYM Test Kitchen). A great choice at Disney California Adventure (DCA) to take a little break or wind down. The PYM Tasting Lab is located in the Avengers Campus of DCA closest to the side of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and adjacent to the PYM Test Kitchen. Mobile order is available to help expedite the process of getting your drinks. I would recommend mobile ordering through the Disneyland App because the standby line to order is usually long. Magic Key discount is not available for alcoholic drinks. As a fan of hard seltzers, my favorite drink is the Particle Fizz. It's a POG (Passion Fruit, Orange, Guava) hard seltzer with popping boba that's cherry flavored. I have ordered this twice and the first time, I was served my drink in the same disposable cup as my hubby's beer. The most recent time, I was served my drink in a plastic, souvenir cup labeled "PYM Technologies." There was no price difference on those two occasions. My husband is a fan of the Speakeasy Prohibition Amber Ale. Good tasting beer with a higher alcohol percentage (if that matters). Price point for all drinks are "Disney" priced, but not totally unreasonable. It's a nice break from the park to just unwind. Why the 3-stars? The Cast Members (CMs) preparing and serving the drinks always seem to be in a bad mood and annoyed. Anytime we ask a question or I hear others ask a question around me, they get perturbed. I've even seen on multiple accounts some of them blatantly heavy sigh and mutter things under their breath to each other making the whole guest-CM interaction really awkward. I'm not familiar with the Ant Man movies so I can't comment on whether their attitudes are 'part of the experience', but it's a super uncomfortable vibe. Drinks alone and ambiance of being in the heart of Avengers Campus at DCA still hold the PYM Tasting Lab in high regard and will continue to keep us returning. read more
