I am stunned that I've never written a review for here! This is for sure one of our go to rest and restore bars and small bites. Their cocktails are usually on point and NOT watered down. We typically look in the app for walk in openings or just ask if there are spots at the bar. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are a more upscale vibe with different seating styles. They have indoor and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restroom is upstairs by the full restaurant and thehave an elevator next to the stairs if needed. For this last visit, drinks were great as usually and the food delicious. Their pork belly bao is always very tender and tasty. Came to get a drink because I really like the restaurant, but it doesn't open until four. So I just got a couple drinks in an appetizer before doing my last couple of attractions. I tried the shrimp ceviche and was extremely letdown. The shrimp had not been marinated and lime long enough for it to actually been cooked through the sauce and pickled onion was delicious, but there was hardly any of it, and there was more of the black tortilla chip than shrimp. It was still tasty. I'm not gonna lie and obviously the drinks are always five stars, but the taste really lied in the avocado sauce with pickled onion not really the shrimp. Dining at Carthay Circle (Lounge and Restaurant) requires an advanced reservation via Disney Dining (web or app). We arrived about 20 minutes earlier than our reservation time and got seated in 10 minutes. We had the Soy glazed salmon over soba and the Turkey and Mushroom Bolognese main dishes. Both dishes were really, really good. The salmon was cooked on-the-money and was seasoned very well. My nit picking is that it could have used more soba! They used very skinny soba and there wasn't a whole lot... I'd say that if you were really hungry, you might be still a little hungry but I'd take quality over quantity any day. The Turkey and Mushroom Bolognese was equally delicious. The flavor was rich and the pasta was a bit less than al dente (softer) but no issues with that. Yay finally checking this place of my Disney restaurant list. I found it interesting that the lounge has a different menu than the restaurant part. Personally I think the lounge has the better menu. I was so excited to try some of the food items, but was disappointed that a lot of the items contained dairy. This is my gripe and grievance with Disneyland. They add dairy to food that normally would not have dairy. Example, the duck sopes have dairy in the MASA/corn part of the sope. Why would they do that?! Pissed me off bc that was one of the top 3 items I was eyeing. They also added dairy to Vietnamese wraps, bao buns, the lemon grass coconut dumplings..... Traditionally these cuisines/food items don't contain dairy. I was able to eat the Jamaican chicken curry which was ok. Curry was soft not too strong so that may be a good thing or bad thing depending on your curry preference. My friend did order the duck sopes and said they were ok. The drinks on the other hand were GOOD. we ordered the sidecar and double pear martini. Both were tasty and generous with the spirits. Our server was amazing and so helpful with all my dairy questions. I appreciate his patience and the back and forth with the kitchen. I have only dined at the Carthay Circle Restaurant prior to this and loved the quality of the food there. So I figured the quality of the food would just be a great at the lounge. Reservations were easy to make on the Disney app and I was surprised I was able to snag a dinner reservation a day before my DCA trip. The check-in process went smoothly with a short wait time. We were sat outside, which was fine because the weather was nice that day. I ordered the Miso Glazed Sustainable Fish where the fish of the day was salmon and my mom ordered the North African Roasted Organic Chicken Breast. We both really enjoyed our meals and felt they were satisfying and filling. We definitely would be coming back again the next time we visit DCA and if reservations do become available. read more

I've never attempted to make a reservation at Carthay Circle so this time, my husband and I decided to try it out at the lounge first as we didn't want to do prix-fixe / wanted to try some apps vs. having to commit to a full meal. I made a reservation ~2 months prior, but they were accepting walk ups at the lounge so it didn't seem terribly busy. You check in at the podium in front of the restaurant (that's for the lounge apparently), and you go inside to check in for the restaurant. The hostess directed us to a seat outside even though I realized later when I went to the restroom that there were plenty of seats inside (it was freezing, but they had heat lamps so it was doable). My real gripe with the outside seating area is that it's literally right next to where people wait to get seated for the restaurant. There's no barrier whatsoever, so people just kept walking over and seating themselves in the lounge seating area to wait as if it's a waiting area for them. The hostesses had to keep corralling them back over to their waiting area, but they gave up at one point because the people just kept doing it anyways. Drinks were very strong, for Disney. So if you like the typical fruity cocktails, don't get the drinks here. I got the double pear martini ($19) and my husband got the Ernest Daiquiri ($19.50). Both were extremely strong, I thought my pear martini would be a tad sweet, but it wasn't at all. Food-wise, we got three items to share: +/- French onion soup: Cheese was good, but the broth itself was extremely bland. No beef flavor, tasted more like just wine as if it didn't deglaze properly. This one came out hot, as it should. $16 +/- Mexican Bay Scallop "Rockefeller" style: Quite good actually flavor-wise. Very small portion, as expected, but the creamed spinach with the lemon slice and scallop was good. Came out lukewarm, erring on cold. $16 - Bao Buns of soy-ginger braised pork belly: incredibly disappointing. The baos were completely soggy on the half that touched the kimchi. The soy-ginger braised pork belly was bland. The 'cucumber kimchi' was not flavorful, just very sour. Didn't go well with the pork belly. Came out extremely lukewarm, basically cold. $19 Overall, the food and the general experience wasn't the best. Our server was cordial, but the seating / dealing with the people waiting that were basically breathing on us wasn't fun. Probably wouldn't come back again, however, as the food/drinks were okay to bad. read more

The food here is delicious! Disney pricing applies but worth it for a quick bite. The staff are excellent and I recommend reserving a spot on the Disney app before you go. We had a quiet place to sit and the foot traffic wasn't too distracting thankfully. Visited the park on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The park was unusually extra busy, but our goal was drinks and appetizers....Carthay was perfect. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, the inside small lounge is actually sometimes hard to get into, but the host was super helpful and because we were patient they found us a spot at the bar! yay!! SERVICE: Fabulous! They found us a spot inside their lounge, and the bartenders were extra friendly today. FOOD: WOW!! We never really tried their small plates, but you need to try them. Great food, very tasty. Today we had the lettuce wraps and the beef skewers - along with an old fashioned and citrus berry punch - all super yummy! Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my first visit to the Carthay Circle Lounge. We had a reservation at 3:30pm, but we weren't seated until 3:50pm. Once seated, we were given water, but our order wasn't taken until much later. I suspect they may have been understaffed as several tables were empty in the lounge despite our delayed seating. We visited during the Disney California Adventure 2026 Lunar New Year celebration, so there were seasonal items featured throughout the park. I had my eye on the Golden Moonfire Cocktail. Although this item was only listed on the menu for the Carthay Circle Restaurant, I asked my server if I could still have it. She said yes, so that is what I got. To be frank, I did not like it. The drink felt heavy and weighed down by a thick, suffocating, medicinal syrup. I would liken it to cough syrup. It was not palatable. I also did not think this drink was on theme with the Lunar New Year celebration. Sure, it was red. But the flavors didn't make sense to me. Why pomegranate? Why strawberry? These are not flavors that I would associate with an Asian flavor profile. I also stole a bite of my friend's Spicy Ahi Tuna Spring Roll. I personally did not like it. I thought the sauces didn't really make sense with it. I think a spring roll is supposed to be light and fresh, and the chili oil and the saltiness from the soy sauce contradicted all of that. Peanut sauce, fish sauce, or hoisin sauce would have all been better choices. My friend liked it though.  [[HIGHLIGHT]]Some positive notes - the lounge itself is quite nice. It feels like you're sitting in the lobby of a nice hotel. The bar is very pretty as well. I love the dark wood with the bottles illuminated in warm light. It's a comfortable place to sit, chat, and rest your feet after a long day of park hopping.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also liked my friend's Mai Tai. It was a well crafted drink, and I had nothing bad to say about it. It gave me some reassurance that the drinks here are usually good. Also, our server was very nice. But drinks aside, I felt like operations had a lot of room for improvement, from inconsistent reservation times to delayed service. I understand that there may be a degree of variability due to the seasonal menu items and unexpected factors that may affect service, but I just feel like so many things went wrong during this experience that I could not overlook everything. I will leave a 2 star review for now, which I think is fair, and would be open to revisiting Carthay Circle Lounge in the future. read more

Decided to try out the lounge while we were in the park, we were sat outside. Service was really good and attentive. The drinks we order was pretty strong, which was good in my opinion as everything was expensive in the park. The twice cooked beef lettuce wraps were pretty good with the sweet sauce. Beef skewers were pretty good too, came with three skewers on top of beans. My brother had the meatballs and pasta, and was pretty satisfied. Keep in mind that there's the Lounge and then also the Restaurant. They have different menus at different price points. I've only dined at the Lounge, almost every time we're at DCA. The main reason is that you can get a few shareable items for snacking and more importantly they make good, strong drinks. The Lounge has patio and indoor seating but the indoor seating are exactly what it sounds like, more lounge-y so mostly big armchairs and smaller tables, hence not fantastic for a full meal, but perfect for light bite and drinks. I love their aviation and pisco sour. Food wise, the pork belly buns and the beef lettuce wrap are my favorite. I would stay away from the kids menu offerings as those were kind of a rip off based on the quantity and price. read more

I love that you can just sit and chill downstairs, sip your drink and enjoy the vibes! It's hard to walk up and get seating so definitely make a reservation online. My party of 3 had a reservation for when they opened and we were seated right away. We ordered the Carthay sopes, filet mignon beef skewers, and malai kofta potato to share. It was just right for the three of us to taste and have a light meal. The sopes and skewers were my favorite with great colorful flavor. I ordered the double pear martini cocktail and it was perfect as usual. Our server was nice and friendly. We enjoyed our time at the lounge. Was able to get a reservation for the lounge at Carthay Circle. It was a windy day and they had available seating for outdoors but we asked to wait for a table inside which didn't take too long. The staff are great and I enjoy the vintage theme, but the menu could use a refresh. I feel that some of the entrees lack creativity/flavor and aren't worth the price. I've dined here a handful of times hoping there would be a dish that wowed me, but I leave disappointed. Get the chicken! We came for lunch since the park was closing early and couldn't do a dinner. It was outisde dining area, which would have been even better if the weather was better. It's nice because you get to see the characters and music perforamnces happen along the street. Our server was great, all her drink recommendations were on point and people enjoyed their libations. Another fabulous lunch at Carthay Circle downstairs lounge (not the upstairs restaurant). The ambiance is always relaxing and elegant you forget you're at California Adventure! Food was shared between the 4 of us and it was a perfect way to start the day at the park. The Vietnamese Twice-cooked Beef Lettuce Wraps with Pineapple-Mint Salsa is perfect for sharing and so delicious! We also shared the Moroccan Roasted Chicken Meatballs with Pomegranate Relish and Tzatziki which was nice and flavorful. The dish none of us ever tried was the Watermelon-Tomato Salad with Fresh Corn, Pepitas, & Charred Avocado Vinaigrette! Wow the flavors were so good and refreshing for a nice summer afternoon! Although we made a reservation, we were about 25 minutes delayed in terms of getting seated. I would advise that instead of waiting for a text to ask them as that might have moved us along quicker. We stopped by to catch our breath from rides and have a few quick bites! Not in the picture was a refreshing rose petal soda which I did enjoy- mildly rosy but could use a little less simple syrup. The spicy ahi Tuna Spring Roll was an interesting concept, fusing japanese and vietnamese cuisines together. The heat was there and the tuna was good quality, but I couldn't help but think that the dish would have been more successful had it been wrapped in nori with some yuzu ponzu, or if it were 3 full on spring rolls with fresh herbs and a nice dipping sauce with fish sauce and garlic. The salmon was well cooked, but the soba was dressed in something that was very salty. Im glad the salsa added some freshness and crunch. Highly recommend making a reservation as their seating is limited. There are both indoor and outdoor options. Go here for the drinks. They've got both traditional drinks as well as some fun cocktails. They change the custom cocktails from time to time, even sometimes change how they are presented or their garnishes. While the food is tasty, this is not a great place to have a meal. It's more of a small bites place and you will most likely leave hungry. I like the pork belly bao buns. Wish they had just a little more cabbage in them, but the chunks of pork belly are a decent size. Service is a little slow, so be prepared for that if you don't want to waste too much time here and would prefer to go on more rides. The restrooms are on the 2nd floor and they have both stairs and an elevator. Definitely some of the cleanest restrooms in the park. read more

After some extensive menu review, I decided to book Carthay Lounge instead of the restaurant because we wanted to get a few plates and share rather than doing a full sit down meal. Next time, I think I'll try the restaurant. While the food was solid (those twice cooked beef lettuce wraps were super yummy), I was a little disappointed that despite making a reservation for right at opening we were seated at the bar? In my view, the bar should be reserved for walk ins. If I make a reservation, I expect to be seated at table, unless it's incredibly busy. On this day, because it was right at opening, there were plenty of tables and many parties who came in after us got seated at tables. It was a bit of a bummer because part of the appeal of the lounge is having some of that lounge ambiance and we didn't really get any of that. The best place to get out of the heat and enjoy some and great food and drink! The menu changes seasonally so you'll be able to enjoy some of the freshest ingredients based on the time of the year. A few items are kept regularly (ie meatballs) but I've seen a fair amount of rotation lately so it's a different experience each time. You feel transported back to the golden era of the 1920s with the decor, lighting and vibes. Such a treat each time! Drinks are boss... Carthay martini, sparkling mare and during Halloween the Posioned Appletini is divine. I always feel right at home with the friendliest cast members helping from check-in to check-out. The only thing that I can say is that I am disappointed that as of my last visit that they no longer have the cheese plate on the menu (this is as of January 2025). We came and were kindly greeted by Kylie and Serina. They were very attentive and polite to us. Their excellent service is one of the reasons we love coming here. We ordered two Tequila Daisy's and one espresso martini. If you enjoy a refreshing drink with a little extra tartness, the Tequila Daisy is for you. On the other hand, the espresso martini's were a perfect 10/10 so we even ordered a second round!! Highly recommend coming when visiting DCA! read more
