The owner and movers were friendly and polite and the owner personally made an extra trip to my old place and brought an overlooked item to my new place at no extra charge. Given the special situation surrounding this move this was the only mover out of more than 40 willing to do the job and take pictures throughout the move to show me whether my possessions and the previous place was in the same condition I left it. The reason I'm giving 3 instead of 5 stars though is because I was quoted around $580 and was charged over $1,300 at the end of the job! As expected, all the movers I got estimates from said final costs can't be determined until movers are on site and see what they're dealing with. I provided an exhaustive list of all my items and other details so they could get a fair idea though, so I was shocked when I got the final bill. When all my things arrived, I saw where they gouged me was on excessive wrapping and packing. I appreciate the care they took to protect my things, but moving companies carry insurance for the possibility of damaging items. I appreciate a company's interest in not increasing their insurance rate due to claims being made over accidental damage, but I would've preferred they were just careful and dispense with the additional wrapping and packing to spare me from paying nearly 2.5 times their estimate. As I'm sure they adopted a policy of taking this extra care to avoid the hassle of accidental damage and claims, I think it reasonable to believe they could've provided a more accurate estimate from the list and details I provided them so I could make a more informed choice on which company to hire, or at least take the necessary time to save up for the move. There was very minor damage to one piece of furniture I actually saw happen when they were moving it up stairs. Nothing conspicuous or affecting its function. Fortunately it's only an old, cheap dresser I could easily replace by similar furniture for free, but still worth noting for those with expensive or irreplaceable items. read more

Best movers ever! Rusty and his crew have now moved me four times -- on the West Coast end of a NYC to SF move, Berkley to Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara to Sausalito, and then Sausalito back to Santa Barbara. Most of these were nerve-wracking long-distance moves, but these guys made it way less stressful. They are super organized and responsible (they wrap everything so carefully), friendly and a pleasure to work with. On all of these moves not one item has ever even gotten dinged! I have some expensive furniture and fragile artwork and electronics and I'm really pretty high maintenance, so I feel very lucky to have such awesome movers. Leeza was super helpful on the phone, and even gave me a discount for paying cash. The movers, Jose and Marcelo, called to say they were on their way, and arrived as planned. Horrible packers/movers. I would never recommend this company except possibly to a rubbish removal company. They would make good trash tossers. They have no idea how to pack valuables/breakables. They packed several boxes without any indication of what room they came from or what the contents in the boxes were. After opening up some boxes, we discovered they were only 3/4 full and no packing material around anything in the box. EG one 3/4 full box had a Tiffany crystal vase (no exaggeration) put in a dog bed and laid on top of items from the garage. What was the items from the garage? A small, but heavy motor and some steel parts. There was also master bathroom items in the box. So the vase came from the dining room, the dog bed came from the family room and the metal parts came from the garage. WTF! Found lots of boxes packed in this manor. Jimmy, (what a joke) the head of this operation, only works 6 hour days. We hired them for the two days that the company estimated it would take but by the end of the 2nd day, they still hadn't packed or loaded everything, there was still 1/3 left to do. One of the workers (Carl) took 2 days to pack up the kitchen and still didn't finish. WHY, because he had an injured leg with a brace on and couldn't climb the step ladder in a normal way. He should have been on worker's comp. Maybe he was, who knows. Carl, packed up the liquor in a box. We discovered this when we went to move the box and heard liquid glugging about in the box. So we unpacked it. Low and behold, we discovered not only were the bottles all laid on the side but missing was a 12 year old (unopened) bottle of scotch. But Carl was nice enough to leave us the EMPTY box it came in. Carl, you should have taken the box it came in. Stick a fork in me, I'm DONE! We didn't have them back to "finish" the job! Oh and here's a good one.... When Jimmy arrived on the second day. He remarked "We accept gratuities". Well, no shit Sherlock, but how about you finish the job? You're not even 1/2 way through. I don't know about the rest of you, but do you leave a tip/gratuity after you've eaten your appetizer? I don't think so. You leave a tip at the end of service, be it dining, packing, moving, car wash etc. But there were two other guys besides Jimmy and Carl, that I think did a good job. I didn't get their names, but they need to find a better company to work for. I have yet to unpack the pods that Pyramid Movers packed and loaded, but I've already come to terms that it won't be a pleasant experience. I'm sure our stuff is all mixed up and lot's of stuff broken. I won't make a claim, won't even complain to to the company because it's just a waste of time and I'm over it. I'm moving on. BUT for those of you who want to use Pyramid Movers and these people (Jimmy and Carl) good luck. I thought Jimmy would have been great because of the reviews I've read on this sight. All I can say is they must be fake reviews. The only good thing I can say is they only damaged one wall, it wasn't worth my time to complain. So just be warned... if you see Pyramid Movers... Keep walking. Don't believe the FAKE reviews, get referrals from friends if you can. Lesson learned! And one more thing....they left a huge mess.... WORST MOVERS EVER! They were subcontractors for a company we hired and from the start were terrible. They put a hole in our wall. One of them said " dude, I don't @#$&*%' care just shove the chair through the door". Not even joking. When my husband fired them after less than an hour, they threatened to "kick his a#$". He's a black belt.... Would have loved to see that. Refused to wear a mask. You would do better with One Big Man, One Big Truck! Much more professional. I cannot say enough good things about Pyramid Movers. In fact, I have recommended them to several friends in the Bay Area in the six months since my move. I had previously been burned and scammed by moving companies in every way possible. I didn't trust them, period. So as I was getting ready to move from San Francisco to Seattle, I did a lot of research on my options. I dug deep into the reviews for nearly every local company and got quotes from those that rose to the top. Nearly every quote involved a call center, lots of transfers between departments, and intentionally vague details on costs. When I called Pyramid, it rang straight to Rusty. He was patient and thorough in answering all of my questions. He immediately followed up with a quote and was very communicative throughout the process. I appreciated that the estimate was a fixed-fee, where all of the other companies left room to hit you with surprise charges upon arrival. When it came time for moving day, I had a father/son team (both named Jimmy) there to help with my move. They were friendly, treated my things with care, and loaded everything up into the truck faster than I could believe if I didn't see it with my own eyes. They were scheduled to arrive to Seattle a day before I was, and I had a family member lined up to meet them there. Jimmy #2 and Jose helped us unload and ensemble furniture for 3 hours. Best 3 hours of moving. My husband and I never had movers help in previous moves and this company made us believers. The two of them were efficient and patient with us and my two little boys as they were running around. We drove 12 hours to our new home, and they were there waiting for us before we got there. We were at first impressed with Pyramid Movers because Rusty was the only one who physically came and assessed how big of a move it would be to move our 3BR home. However, when it came to moving day, they did not have the right truck (we originally were supposed to have 1 large truck but ended up with 2 smaller trucks) nor enough supplies. The crew was nice but was not efficient. While all of our big furniture and glassware items were well wrapped, the rest of our items appeared to have been shoved into boxes with a couple pieces of packaging paper. I found a cushion from my indoor couch in a box with my kitchen cleaning supplies - like Comet and other harsh cleaners - and some other sharp, unwrapped, decorative items. The cushion had Comet powder on it. I also found our eating utensils, unwrapped, in a box with our mops and brooms. Lastly, they promised us that they could meet the deadline that we had to move out of our home, but that was only achieved with my husband having to chip in and help pack/move items. This company was the best!!! An large five bedroom home was packed in the course to two days and a truck loaded in a specified order for unloading at three different places when the shipment arrived. Another truck was loaded for shipment to Canada. We highly recommend this company. The only issue we had was they shorted us on person for packing and then complained it took longer than anticipated.
