    Poutine - IG @bougiefoodieboi
    Kyle W.

I only went here as part of my Fairmont Dallas stay that included $100 food credit plus $40/person per day breakfast credit for 2. Otherwise this place is not worth to go due to quality and price of the food. First dinner we got the poutine, lobster roll, Fairmont wings, and cauliflower. Poutine was overly salty, and the lobster roll wasn't even the Maine lobster but we're not told it ran out so they substituted to slipper lobster, so we pointed that out. We got salad for the side which was overly vinegary. Fairmont wings I was intrigued by their use of salsa macha but it was more sweet and sour sauce than spicy. Cauliflower was the only saving grace. We ended up getting the lobster roll and cauliflower comped cause of the horrible experience so I added a star. For breakfast, first day was fine but second day was terrible - we made reservations both days and showed up earlier second day but still had to wait 30+ min to be seated, since they didn't honor reservations. Then what's the point of arbitrary enforcement if they honored our reservation day 1? When we got seated, the chairs were completely dirty. Breakfast was fine quality wise with the omelet, eggs benedict with crawfish, chia pudding, smart bowl, fresh fruits, and chilaquiles that we got across both days. It took 3+ follow ups to get what we want. $20 for omelet and $24 for a breakfast sandwich is insane though. Service is lackluster during breakfast hours with a supposed mandatory 20% service charge that we asked to be removed cause the service was laughably bad. Dinner was fine in service. Both meals were mediocre and overpriced, so I would only go to spend my food credits included in some hotel bookings.

    The hour long wait...

Stayed at the hotel and wanted to do breakfast. They had 2 employees, a waitress and the maitre d. The backlog and wait was horrible. My suggestion is open up both rooms and hire more floor staff

Horrible. Second attempt to get dinner first one was a stupid rare steak that broke my plastic take out fork. Second was room service banh mi "sandwich" and it's in quotes. Do you like fat? You will love this sandwich

Do yourself a favor and visit this amazing restaurant and bar in Dallas. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing - everything I've tasted melted in my mouth. John makes the best cocktails in Dallas and Denis makes everyone feel at home. Highly recommend!

Came in a couple minutes after the kitchen closed & sat at the bar, I had a really bad sweet tooth & Oscar the bartender was able to snag me every flavor of ice cream they had! Even made me a special dessert rum chata drink! Service was beyond exceptional! The atmosphere is very relaxed & quiet & perfectly well lit! Oscar really mad a regular out of me.

We ordered room service while staying at the hotel this restaurant is located in and really liked the food! The fish and chips really surprised me. The batter was crispy and the fish inside was so flaky and tender. The edamame hummus was also really good and a little spicy. The pita that came with it wasn't great though. It wasn't toasted or heated up at all. It also came with long pieces of English cucumber that were really fresh and crispy. The shishito peppers were good, not the best I've ever had, but good enough. Would have been better with some rock salt flakes on it.

I came here with my boyfriend for New Year's Eve 2015 dinner and Xmas Eve 2016, but the review below was for NYE. For New Year's Eve he made reservations and it turned out to be a pre fixe menu, which saddened me, because it's usually not as good anywhere you go. At best I have salivated over something on their regular menu, which now I can't have. Oh well it's often the case on holidays. From the minute we walked in they were very warm and welcoming. It had a nice ambience and they had New Year's Eve hats etc at the tables. The appetizers were ok, but my entree was great. I ended up going with the fish.

The cornbread is as moist as cake and just sweet, cannot recommend this enough even if it's just a side order. I've come here for a personal and business meals, and it accommodate both nicely. The rustic decor and music are top-notch, it feels elevated. Parking is in the garage downstairs and a short elevator ride up helps you avoid the inclement weather outside. Verdict: fantastic!

We also appreciated the manager acknowledging the long wait and missing food and drinks by sending over complimentary dessert. Unfortunately, our experience with Taylor was disappointing. She spent the majority of the night standing against the wall and came across as rude and passive-aggressive, especially as we were preparing to leave. This was a noticeable contrast to Ozzy and Terrance's hospitality. The "Cowgirl Dinner" was enjoyable, but the service issues were disappointing, especially as returning guests. Overall, we appreciate the team members who made an effort and hope management addresses the concerns regarding Taylor's attitude.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

The place is beautiful though and was giving elevated casual vibes. Lewellyn's Fine Fried Chicken ($40): Comes with half a bird, mashed potatoes, and a side salad. We swapped the mashed potatoes for crispy brussels. They weren't very crispy but had a generous amount of spiced honey glaze that made them sweet and yummy. The side salad was good. The fried chicken itself was just okay though. There was a lot of meat, and it wasn't dry but the flavors were lacking and the skin wasn't as crispy as I was hoping. I ended up eating mine with a lot of hot sauce. Deviled Eggs with Jalapeno and Bacon Jam ($18): Pretty average. The bacon jam leaned too sweet and overpowered the eggs so you lost any savory flavor. Smoked Sausage ($9): A huge sausage link cut in half with incredible flavor. My friend let me try her sharp cheddar waffle and it wasn't bad but just too subtle for me. It did taste better after air frying it since it crisped up on the outside. Yardbird Hashbrowns ($10): A bit pricey but worth trying at least once. Two thick slabs of hashbrowns that were super crispy and looked and tasted completely different from your typical hashbrowns. Perfectly seasoned too. The dipping sauce was the only miss since it just didn't complement them well. My husband and I shared, and the food was very filling so we had leftovers.
