Very inconsistent service based on who's serving. Kamoni was a delight though. I came back another evening around 7:30 and was told by the bartender that they were no longer serving food because they had a large party. Same thing the next day during breakfast. The food was mediocre at best and definitely overpriced for what it is. The smash burger was ok. The brussels sprouts were terrible. The brisket looked and smelled like pork sausage - bizarre. $15 for a mocktail in a glass the size of my pinky. Open late for food which is nice in the hotel. The chilaquiles was fresh fried tortilla chips and a pile of jumbo shrimp chunks, lime juice, avocado puréed basically, onion, and bell pepper slices. Made into sort of a pseudo healthy dip. Exorbitantly priced! My salad the second night was so obscenely drenched with dressing I literally sent it back. Can't remember ever sending food back in my life but maybe once. The salad and small salmon which wasn't even cooked rare or even close to medium rare but instead well done was $30!!! I only went here as part of my Fairmont Dallas stay that included $100 food credit plus $40/person per day breakfast credit for 2. Otherwise this place is not worth to go due to quality and price of the food. First dinner we got the poutine, lobster roll, Fairmont wings, and cauliflower. Poutine was overly salty, and the lobster roll wasn't even the Maine lobster but we're not told it ran out so they substituted to slipper lobster, so we pointed that out. We got salad for the side which was overly vinegary. Fairmont wings I was intrigued by their use of salsa macha but it was more sweet and sour sauce than spicy. Cauliflower was the only saving grace. We ended up getting the lobster roll and cauliflower comped cause of the horrible experience so I added a star. For breakfast, first day was fine but second day was terrible - we made reservations both days and showed up earlier second day but still had to wait 30+ min to be seated, since they didn't honor reservations. Then what's the point of arbitrary enforcement if they honored our reservation day 1? When we got seated, the chairs were completely dirty. Breakfast was fine quality wise with the omelet, eggs benedict with crawfish, chia pudding, smart bowl, fresh fruits, and chilaquiles that we got across both days. It took 3+ follow ups to get what we want. $20 for omelet and $24 for a breakfast sandwich is insane though. Service is lackluster during breakfast hours with a supposed mandatory 20% service charge that we asked to be removed cause the service was laughably bad. Dinner was fine in service. Both meals were mediocre and overpriced, so I would only go to spend my food credits included in some hotel bookings. read more

We ordered room service while staying at the hotel this restaurant is located in and really liked the food! The fish and chips really surprised me. The batter was crispy and the fish inside was so flaky and tender. The edamame hummus was also really good and a little spicy. The pita that came with it wasn't great though. It wasn't toasted or heated up at all. It also came with long pieces of English cucumber that were really fresh and crispy. The shishito peppers were good, not the best I've ever had, but good enough. Would have been better with some rock salt flakes on it. read more

I came here with my boyfriend for New Year's Eve 2015 dinner and Xmas Eve 2016, but the review below was for NYE. For New Year's Eve he made reservations and it turned out to be a pre fixe menu, which saddened me, because it's usually not as good anywhere you go. At best I have salivated over something on their regular menu, which now I can't have. Oh well it's often the case on holidays. From the minute we walked in they were very warm and welcoming. We decided as a family to do a nice dinner on Christmas night and made reservations weeks in advance. The menu was fixed for the evening and included a dessert buffet. We were excited to try this restaurant for the first time. Shortly after being seated, our waiter arrived at our table. He didn't say much. For the rest of our meal, he said very little to us and gave short answers when asked a question. We thought we might get a Merry Christmas and at least a general level of service for the cost and experience at the Fairmont. The quality of the meal did not rise to the level of the cost. The dessert buffet was the best part of the experience. I wanted to like it more, especially for the total bill we received. As we were getting ready to leave, we heard another table remark about the service, confirming we weren't the only ones disappointed. They said they would not come back. Every time I go back here for lunch I'm more and more disappointed... the service is always great, but the food is usually not. Several visits later and I had to downgrade this place. The bolognese is not a bolognese at all, the carbonara is usually to thick and heavy... especially for lunch. This place is fantastic! According to its website, the restaurant was recently redesigned, and kudos to the architect. The place looks incredible, open and airy but very refined. And oh yeah, the dinner was nice too. For appetizers, I went with the onion bisque, although I was sorely tempted by the special tomato bisque our waiter was selling. I don't think I would've gone wrong either way. The majority of the table went with salads, which looked great. The house also featured red and yellow beet cubes, which were a great decorative piece but went uneaten. Ah well. My main course was the chili rub rib-eye, which was absolutely delicious. Elsewhere, the scallops were a big hit as well. The only complaint was dessert, which featured an only so-so pear tart (I ate the pear, and left everything else). The waiters serving our table were commendable as well. Attentive service, but not overbearing, and perfectly game as we kept asking them for more bread. We ended up staying for 3+ hours, and they were perfect hosts the whole time. Well done. read more

The Pyramid Restauarant was arguably one of the best meals I had during my weeklong stay in Dallas, although I may have been biased by the fact that I really wanted to have ribeye -- any ribeye -- in Texas before I left. Being at the Fairmont, your expectations are already up there. Pyramid doesn't quite live up to those expectations. Atmosphere- nice environment, nothing particularly special, I'd say its about your average run of the mill "fancy" set up. The wall of wine is a nice modern touch, but everything else is pretty run of the mill. Service- great. I don't know if this is just because we were the only ones there, but they were on point with everything. Sometimes I think they were just itching to refill our wine glasses or water just so they'd have something to do. Either way, they were very attentive. Food- meh. The salmon tartare was ok. I don't think the salmon was actually raw however, tasted like chopped smoked salmon. The baguette slices were toasted nicely and the quail egg was cooked just right. After the appetizer, the meal just went a bit downhill. I had their tenderloin as the main course, medium rare. Looked more medium than medium rare and it was rather dry until you got to the center of the cut. The mashed potatoes that come with it needed more butter (texture was a little off), but the taste was ok. For dessert I had an apple crumb cake that was also really dry and was rather bland if not for the ice cream that came with it.. I lucked out as this was a company sponsored dinner, so no money was out of my pocket, but if I had to pay for that meal, I would have been a little upset. For these prices, there are many other fine dining establishments that do a better job. read more

It's okay. I ate at the Pyramid Bar my first night in and my dish (cracklin' chicken) was not satisfying in the way you expect for a four diamond restaurant. I went back to give the restaurant a shot because I wanted to try the pork belly and souis vide egg which I had as my starter followed by a Cesar salad. The food was delicious! The service was really good too!! I would definitely pick the restaurant over the bar (slightly different menus). Edited to reflect my experience tonight. It was fantastic. Service is phenomenal. The wait staff remembered details about my order (no cheese, no butter, no bread) and worked with me to get a dish that fantastic. Though I never had dinner here, I did enjoy both breakfast and lunch on several occasions. On par with other upscale hotel establishments, the prices for breakfast are extreme, but the food is quite good. Since I don't have the appetite for a buffet breakfast, I ordered from the a la carte menu, which can be a way to save some cash. The eggs were always cooked to order, and they even let me grab fresh fruit from the buffet instead of serving me a sad little fruit cup on the side. Service is friendly, and very efficient. (And if you happen to have a food allergy, as I do, just inform your server and the chef will take good care of you.) Lunch is a better value, as the entrees are reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the grilled salmon with the avocado tomatillo salsa and smoked corn mash. The bar is also quite nice, albeit a tad on the cozy side, but the service and the drinks are very good. Pyramid is definitely not your typical hotel restaurant. It's worth checking out for a business lunch - or breakfast - if you're in the area. read more

Solid restaurant with excellent service in an atmosphere that feels a bit too much like the "lobby restaurant" at the Fairmont. In a perfect world, I'd isolate it a bit more from the lobby. It has a pretty limited menu of fairly frou-frou but very good food. I started the lobster and enjoyed my (pretty small) piece of it. My wife had the beet salad which she loved. My wife had the ribeye which cooked perfectly and I had the roasted chicken which was very good. Sometimes at high end places, the food is tiny. Not here. Things were pretty plentiful. I opted to get the beet salad and dinner special - the seafood pasta. Nothing was mind-blowing, but it was all good. The blueberry clafoutis dessert was tangy and warm. Go up to the terrace and see where they grow the vegetables and herbs. We spent the night at the Fairmont Hotel and had breakfast at Pyramid. There was really no crowd at 8am, perhaps only 3 or 4 tables seated. My wife took a look at the buffet but she's vegetarian and the buffet was very meat heavy so we ordered off the menu. I had banana but French toast and she ordered the American breakfast. The American comes with a meat side but the staff was quick and willing to sub out a pancake for the meat option. The food was good, the staff nice, and the coffee was fresh. There are other options nearby but on a rainy Saturday this beat roaming in the drizzle to find a cheaper waffle. read more

It's a shame the Pyramid has such a "lobby restaurant" feel. It's really excellent. I bought a Travelzoo deal for $65 which entitled us to $125 of food excluding drinks. I was apprehensive and thought there would be some hidden charges but there weren't and it was simply a great deal. I ordered from the 3 course menu. I ordered the Apricot risotto, salmon entree and apple tart dessert. All were hearty and wonderful. My boyfriend ordered the scallop with lobster ravioli appetizer, squid ink linguine with grilled shrimp and candy bar dessert, which he enjoyed very much. The food and service were wonderful. The restaurant wasn't crowded on a Friday night. I recommend trying the Pyramid especially when the Travelzoo deal rolls around. I believe valet is free if you eat there. read more

We come here every Christmas because they always have great food and service. We had the Christmas dinner which was a menu you chose an appetizer, entree and they had a desert table you could get several deserts from. For an appetizer, I had the chestnut bisque which was lobster bisque flavored with chestnut broth. It was very good and there were good sized pieces of lobster in it. For my entree I had the prime rib and it was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The deserts left a little to be desired, they were not very sweet in my opinion. Because of a career of sorts that had me meet clients endlessly in hotels, I was a little apprehensive to meet a internet date there. Of course the Fairmont is one of Dallas's best hotels and I've been there quite a bit, but never paid attention to the restaurant. I don't know how long it's actually been open but I know this was my first time eating there. Anyway, the restaurant is basically in the hotel lobby which made it a little odd for an internet date. It wasn't what I would call intimate but that is OK too. But I did want to hear my date and the place was on the loud side because it is in a lobby. My date didn't pan out. I could tell he was a player. First he has been single for quite a while but talked about finding someone right away. Red Flag. Then he agreed with everything I said. Red Flag. Then he wanted to know if I was "fun" and "spontaneous". Those are code word for if I buy you dinner will something pan out for me. I'd phase it a different way, but this is a family site. Single girls you know what I mean. The date was a waste but I came from my office in the Renaissance Towers so I was dress appropriately. The food was really good. It was a lot better than I expected being in a lobby and everything. I had the roasted chicken and a side of mushroom risotto. Mushroom risotto is one of the dishes I can make well at home so I love to compare when given the chance. They did a great job and the wait staff was warm and friendly.
