This spot was quiet and intimate. Located inside the Westin hotel. When we went it was fairly empty. We ordered boom boom shrimp tacos and chicken quesadillas. That was a great taco! It typically comes with fries but I subbed out for Caesar salad. The quesadilla was good, but it had a lot of fillers. The food was about $40. I did also get a glass of prosecco, which aaa chilled and served as expected. I would definitely do it again if we stay here in the future. The server wasn't overly attentive. He left a bottle of water for us to enjoy and came to check on us a couple times - but I was happy I didn't leave feeling harassed like some places do. read more

Sea-bass is one of my favorite fish to enjoy, this was pretty good, not the best I've had but I did enjoy it overall. The service was kind and attentive. I'll be here for a few more days. If you're staying at the Westin I cannot think of any better or more convienient option for a meal than Grill & Vine. We had dinner here, as a small group, while in town for an offsite with work and, "coincidently", we were all staying at the Westin! Since it was a meal during the week we were the only people in the restaurant and it was great - the whole place to ourselves! Kicking off the meal with some chips and queso we also had a variety of drinks. All reported that their's were tasty. The only thing was that it took a bit of time for all to be made and brought out piece-meal. Granted, there were about 12 of us but our drinks were made and delivered over the course of about 10 mins. Nonetheless, it wasn't a big deal. For entrees, we covered essentially the whole menu and I cannot recall anyone having anything other than glowing comments about the food. Personally, I had the steak with chimichurri and it was DELICIOUS. I cleaned my plate and had to resist licking it haha. Plus, while waiting for our meals, they gave us an additional little serving of the risotto, a chef's tasting essentially, and yum. Very kind of them. Despite the slower drink service the rest of the meal was covered well by our waiter and the additional staff. We were never without anything we needed. Our meal was enjoyable, as was our stay at the the hotel, and I encourage you to stop in for a bite (even if you are not staying at the Westin!). read more

I visited Grill and Vine at the Westin Downtown Dallas and had one of the worst dining experiences of my life. The food and menu items were subpar, my server didn't know in-depth about any items on the menu, but those things were not a big deal. When my check comes for $220, I give my card and the server comes back saying that only $160 was deducted and that I still owe the additional $60. So I check my account, things are all good so I give back my card to charge the rest. They then charge me an additional $180 and are saying I still owe more money. Seeing that I've already been charged $340 for a $220 bill I immediately go to the manager bc it makes no sense whatsoever. The manager proceeds to tell me that the card reader automatically charged the amount of $180 and he doesn't know why. In what world does a card reader charge random amounts? You would have to type in the amount owed to be charged. While trying to see what's going on and get my money back, Louis Almassy comes over and immediately tells me to calm down, calls me aggressive, and threatens to call the authorities on me without even knowing what's going on or why I'm upset about being overcharged. He continued to call me aggressive and threatened to call the cops on me all for being upset about money being taken from me. I didn't appreciate being called names and being threatened with cops for simply just calling out being overcharged. I truly believe that I was only threatened with the cops being called because I'm black as there was nothing happening that warranted a cop being involved when again, money was taken from ME. Louis saw a black man upset and immediately pegged me as the problem without even getting an understanding of the situation. Even after getting an understanding, he never apologized for threatening to call the cops. Furthermore, Louis is a loss prevention manager which "protects a company's assets from fraud and theft", why would I be reprimanded by him when I'm the one in need of help? This dining experience was by far the worst experience I've ever had. read more

I booked this reservation for Valentine's Day with my wife. $85 per person is reasonable so I booked it. We were greeted promptly and politely by the hostess. The restaurant was basically empty, which made me wonder why the booking time was so limited. It took a few minutes to be greeted and offered drinks, but the bar was busy so we understood. When we placed our order, we watched our drinks sit on the bar for 8 minutes before my wife got up and got them for us. When it came time to order from the fixed menu, I was concerned when they didn't ask what temperature I wanted my filet. Come to find out, it's only well done. They brought out my plate with mushrooms, some sort of potato, and a thin filet cooked WELL DONE. It was painfully obvious the steak was premade and microwaved to order. My wife got scallops and risotto, the scallops had a strong fishy smell to them, which is NOT in the norm. I sent my steak back to be prepared medium rare as a filet should be. The product they returned to me was BLUE RARE at best. At this point, I was annoyed. So I asked them to return the food and bring us our check. I gladly paid for my wife's meal since she tolerated the scallops. The oxtail pie appetizer was bland, and the cappuccino tomato soup starter was good, but was maybe an ounce. To top it off, they brought h wife her dessert and sent back mine since I returned my meal, and requested it to be removed (I took one bite of my well done steak). While I understand they shouldn't just hand stuff out, they should have at least made an effort to remedy the poor food quality. I don't blame the server at all. Either way, I paid $113 for my wife's meal that was mediocre at best. The risotto was bland and overcooked along with the overly fishy scallops. I hope management fixes this for future diners. My husband tried the Deep Ellum Blonde draft while I had a signature cocktail the server whipped up - I cannot remember what all was in it but it was delicious! They paired our drinks with a little thing of snack mix that had just the right kick to match the flavors of the alcohol. The next morning for breakfast, we were seated immediately. It took some time for our servers this AM to come to the table to tell us what was going on but we opted for the buffet instead of ordering off the menu. We've come to this bar/restaurant many times. We like the food and service. We often will just sit at the bar if the restaurant isn't open. We went there 12/24/22. It's in the Westin, and they seem to be short-staffed. The escalators up were broken and roped off, so we weren't sure if they were open. We found the elevators and went up, and we were happy to find that they were. It was really cold outside, so we didn't want to try to find another place. It was pretty cold in the hotel, too. It was well into the evening, so they had plenty of time for the heat to work. Who wants to sit in a bar or restaurant, eating or drinking with their coat on? That's the fault of the hotel, though, not the restaurant. They had two bartenders waiting on us, and there were 2 or 3 other groups seated at the bar. One of the bartenders was new, so she didn't know much. When I asked about gluten-free choices, she went to ask the cook and was told that there were none except for the cheese pizza. Since I also have to eat dairy-free, I couldn't have that. The other waitress, though, remembered that they do have gluten-free bread, so I ordered a bacon burger with that, and it was really good. My husband also had a burger, on a regular bun. These are huge burgers, so we probably should have shared. Neither one of us finished ours. It's a nice place to sit and have a meal or drinks (or both), and they always decorate it nicely for Christmas. There is a great view of the city, too. The bartenders are always very nice. Since I am currently trying to watch my figure, I decided to go with something a little healthier: Salmon with a side of veggies. The salmon was actually cooked very well. Seasoning was perfect. The fish flaked with pokes from a fork. The veggies that come with the salmon was roasted asparagus. Although I am not a fan of Asparagus, I finished it all. NO! Do not be fooled by the swanky, modern feel because what I received as food was a joke. My fiance and I came in for an early lunch, 11:30am, we were the only ones there. That should've been a warning sign, why is no one here? Well I found out when my food came. I ordered the grilled chicken and artichoke flatbread and he ordered the reuben sandwich with fries. The chicken on my flatbread came out super dry, if Gordon Ramsay would've been there, he would've thrown the plate at the manager for abusing Chef Mike (microwave). The chicken pieces were as hard as a rock, i literally banged them against the table with no give. I called the waiter over and presented him with the year old jerky that they gave me and he said they would remake it. In the meantime the manager came over and apologized and I also handed him the chicken, I mean, it was like a relic from a museum it was so overzapped it looked antique! Service was good tho, plus 1/2 a star = 1.5 stars. Then when my second flatbread came out, while edible, the chicken was totally different, absolutely no consistency at this place. It's like they tore apart a rotisserie chicken from the day before and just threw it on my flatbread in contempt. My fiance's reuben was also dry, the fries were overdone and also reeked of Chef Mike abuse. This place was super pricey, why am I not getting amazing food?! Especially since they have such a limited menu how can you not use fresh ingredients and put in some care and effort into the dishes you make. We stayed at the Westin for over a week and ate here nearly every morning for breakfast. The buffet is quite pricey but quite nice for what you get. Fresh fruits, omelets made to order, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, deli meats, cheeses, and the typical pastries and cereals. Very nice interior and view of the park across the street. The biggest frustration and the reason for the three stars is that EVERY morning, even though the wait help are very pleasant, the service has been very lacking. First, for the price of the buffet I would expect somewhat attentive service. The restaurant has been nearly empty every time we've been here and they always have at least three to four waiters/waitresses working. But our beverages have gone empty (every time) and they would check on us only two or three times (every time). Not acceptable for the prices they charge. One other issue is that they do not replenish items very often. Again, for the price charged they should be replenishing pastries, etc, constantly. But despite all this, I did enjoy my breakfasts. read more

Great Restaurant! Great ambiance, great service, and great food! We really enjoyed grilled chicken wings, which had a great blend of sweet and heat with the honey and cayenne! The chicken and artichoke flatbread was great! Get extra tomatoes on it! The Managers, Amy and Eddie, were very friendly and gracious, stopping by the table to make sure things were well! There are definitely some pluses to this place after staying a week at the westin...however the first night i was served the bloodline out of the seared ahi tuna steak (steak was brown like a well done steak and smelled like venison) and on another night ordered the grilled chicken flatbread...except the grilled chicken was missing. However, the on floor staff are awesome and were very apologetic and quick to make amends. Service at the bar was great although they need a barback. I think after they get some help in the kitchen this could be a great restaurant.
