I had such a great experience at Q Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot tonight. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out fast, but what really made our visit stand out was our server, Thai. Thai was seriously amazing -- super attentive, friendly, and on top of everything the whole time. Our grill was changed quickly, drinks were always refilled, and he checked in just enough without being overbearing. He made the whole experience feel easy and fun. The meat selection was solid (especially the marinated beef and pork belly), and the hot pot options were just as good. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. Thankfully we got seated slightly sooner around 25 minutes. I'm a sucker for AYCE places that can combine hot pot and KBBQ. One of the biggest perks among the offerings are the giant oysters! I recently had QPot for my graduation party, and everyone loved the experience! The servers are attentive, all the stations were clean, and service was extremely quick! Especially since we were coming with a big group and some elderly, the food definitely beats its competing kbbq places. The meats are marinated where it's not too salty, which gets really nauseating for an AYCE. There were a lot of good options, like the steak and brisket. The banchan could be better, sauce station plentiful, but the caveat of good options is the seafood. We ordered oysters and clams, which were pungent and didn't taste very fresh. This was my second time visiting Q-Pot and it was as busy as when I visited last year. Goku is usually my go-to as it's closer to where I live. However, the quality at Q-Pot is much better than Goku and the prices are comparable. $32.99 for AYCE as of 1/4/2025. There is an iPad to add yourself to the Yelp Waitlist and the estimated wait times aren't always correct. For us, a party of 3, visiting at around 5PM on a Saturday (which we thought was early), we were told it would be a 1hour+ wait. We had no issue with waiting and actually only waited about 25 minutes before being seated. The iPad ordering system is very efficient and also comes with pictures of what each item is. I much prefer this ordering method versus having to order with a waiter. Our server (I didn't catch her name, but she was a nice young lady) was very attentive, changed our grill without us needing to hail her down, and keep our drinks filled. The brisket/beef belly quality was questionable when we visited because the meat was tough af... Very unusual for thinly sliced meat. At certain points in our meal, we believe they gave us tongue instead of what we actually ordered. The banchans aren't anything to write home about and they honestly didn't look the freshest. The DIY sauce bar could've been better kept and cleaned more frequently, but what can you do. Ventilation is not the best and you can expect to smell afterwards, but this is KBBQ we're reviewing. We were seated right by the entryway on the left side of the restaurant and got a waft of cold air every time the door opened. I'm a 30-year-old Bay Area guy who's tried plenty of places, but this one stays consistent. The sauce bar is stacked -- I can always make the mix I like, plus the fresh fruit and desserts at the end hit just right. The meat? Always on point. Quality, tasty, and keeps you coming back for round two (or three). One thing that sets QPot apart is the vibe. Sauce bar is help yourself which is really nice so you don't have to keep asking for bean paste or sesame oil. Free fruit and premade chocolate cake. Touchpad ordering is a plus too so there's not much waiting. Minus one star: the meat coming out is very inconsistent as seen in the pictures. Friendly, fast service and great for bigger groups! They get busy on the weekends so I suggest doing the yelp waitlist ahead of time on the app or coming early to put your name down if the yelp waitlist is closed. I always get confused with the "serving numbers of meat" but last time I went the server suggested to do smaller intervals of ordering the meat so the kitchen can keep bringing out meat to your table. I've lived around this area for all of my life, and I've never stepped foot into this place until recently. I would always see people lining up everyday though. I honestly didn't rlly expect much, but there was a long wait, but it goes by fast. Since this was our first visit, my fam wanted to try out everything, so we got both kbbq & hot pot. We tried out their soft tofu/tom yum/kimchi/miso soup for our hot pot base with veggies, sausages, & noodles. For kbbq, we got chadol beef brisket, beef bulgogi, galbi short ribs, shrimp, and sliced pork belly. The meat to put in the hot pot was rlly good and paired with the sauce gives it a new flavor. The grilled beef bulgogi was actually so good. It was already seasoned, so it was well flavored and tender. Honestly, the dinner price for this is pretty good. You get to eat pretty much anything you want for a max time of 2 hrs. Service was excellent, and the food was incredible. Only thing is the vacuum didn't rlly do much, so you'll definitely smell like bbq after you're done. Also, one of the side dishes were random, why is there mashed potato on the side? They had an ipad for ordering and everything was great but I did knock off a star because for some reason our burner was not getting hot enough and it was taking a long time to cook thicker meats. Having not been back in a while, we decided to revisit this place for dinner on a weekday and to our surprise, the menu changed with a "premium" option! They offer a great selection of meat which we enjoyed and felt it was worth the $15/person upgrade. Service is still a hit or miss. I recently went and looks like you can get both on the tablet without an upcharge. I love this place mainly because you can order all your fixings through the tablet and the waiter will bring them right to you. This kbbq/hot pot place is actually quite large! I think it's perfect for large groups. Not only do they have lots and lots of seating the portions are huge! I would personally stick with only kbbq or hot pot. Not both. I like that they have a sauce bar and ordering is done using a tablet at the end of the table. Just take care to communicate with your group on what to order. I'm not sure if they offer half portions. Service was pretty quick too! The meats kept coming and coming. They also have a pretty good variety/selection of meats. They even have the cheese corn in foil! The scissors were a bit dull. But the server was able to find another pair for us. ** Visited on Monday, Sept. 16th 2024 Had dinner here with a friend the other day- we did KBBQ only as we were planning to sit and catch up. I haven't been back to QPOT since 2019 and was pretty surprised at the change in the restaurant. The restaurant itself is quite large and has plenty of seating, though I found it slightly difficult to maneuver since the tables are long and split in half to accommodate smaller parties (e.g., my friend and I were on the front end of the table, and a party of 4 were on the other end of the table). There's a sauce bar towards the kitchen area of the restaurant that's quite clean and self-serve. The service here was amazing, our staff members were incredibly kind and made sure to check in on us occasionally. When it comes to ordering, there's an iPad at the end of the table where you're able to order as well as ring for a staff member if you need to. I genuinely feel that if I were to come back, I can anticipate great customer service. OKAY THE FOOD: * This is for KBBQ option only as we did not do hot pot & kbbq :) Considering that there's many other kbbq restaurants available in San Jose, it's a no brainer that QPOT has lasted so long. Though some of the meat quality is alright, there are some cuts that are pretty great for the price you're paying. I also noticed that there's a way you're able to purchase raw cuts to have an at home kbbq which is pretty cool and different from most AYCE kbbq spots. They're waiting for a lawsuit to happen before that ever changes. The last 3 times we ate here, I had the runs! And I was with friends on one of those days. It was so embarrassing, we went to a concert after and was located in the mountains somewhere and I swear I was gonna sh t my pants! They are obviously unhygienic. The tables that are close to the restrooms are disgusting! They sat us there once and I couldnt even enjoy my food. The table was oily and the chairs were all ripped with a bunch of holes and just banged up. The manager isnt doing anything to improve at all! NEVER ever coming back. It's been about a year since we've visited. We went there for lunch and all 5 of us got the bbq+hotpot combo. The service was great and variety of ingredients was just how we remembered. Our grill was changed promptly and the iPad order system was awesome with additional items coming out fast! There's one thing that was hard to get over, the floor. It was terribly greasy and slippery through the whole restaurant. From our table to the bathrooms, it was just slippery feeling. Please use a strong degreaser and clean those floors. My entire party of 5 commented how walking with rubber soles felt sketchy. It does detract from the overall experience. read more

First of all, I wanted to say that the service was REALLY good imo especially on a Saturday evening. My friend invited me to his birthday dinner and this was the location he decided on; he made a reservation for 6pm but some delays came up. They were very accommodating and were okay with us pushing our reservation for 7pm instead (we had a group of 10). We arrived, checked in, and it didn't take too long for us to get seated. Despite our big group, our main guy was very kind and kept checking in on us despite the dinner rush. The workers who worked with the tables in our area were very attentive and would appear when we needed a grill change. However, I find fault in some of the food. We decided on doing both bbq and hotpot (a $5 charge which was fine) so it went from $32.99 to $38. We got a few servings of the garlic pork belly (I'm not a huge fan but it was pretty good), some thin meats, bulgogi, udon, some veggies and extra sides. I felt like the thin meats were too tough and hard to eat. Not sure if I'm comparing them correctly, but I thought they were some sort of brisket, like how many KBBQ places have it as a staple. The bulgogi was good though! I was sad to have found a piece of bone in one piece of meat though. For the hotpot, we didn't end up trying any of the meats (if they had some because I couldn't see or browse the menu). I tried the lobster ball, quail egg, and got the spicy tofu soup for my soup. They were all very solid. There was so much tofu in my soup lol and there was also some seafood (shrimp, clam, mussel!) which was a pleasant surprise. I liked the variety of everything but it was hard to access the menu if you're part of the second half of the table away from the tablet to order. I wish there was a system where we could at least scan the menu using a qr code and then tell the person closest to the tablet to help order. I also thought it ended up really pricey? I don't know if I miscalculated or something but our total came out to be about $51 per person which I feel like is a lot for an alright bbq place.
