Highest quality of meats and service. Friendly, lively fun servers, delicious food. Soup and egg were extraordinary. Really good kimchi as well.

Tis been a min... Gooyi Gooyi! I've been here before... A looonggg time ago... Maybe even a decade ago! I do remember thoroughly enjoying the food. I brought my cousins form HI here, they enjoyed it as well. The venue is on the smaller side. Parking is terrible, not a whole lot of spaces in the parking lot, so good luck with that. This is one of the OG Korean spots in in Santa Clara that have been around forever. Now there are so many new Korean restaurants that popped up all around El Camino in Santa Clara within in the last 5 years . Gooui Gooyi was also one of the few spots that was open late. I'm glad that hasn't changed. Service was brilliant! The Korean ladies running the place were on top of everything; refills, orders, check-in, phones. The staff cooks everything for you, so sit back and relax as one doesn't really have to worry about cooking. No table has a dedicated waiter. All staff members take turns cooking and helping you out. ~ Banchan (반찬) - 4.5/5 Some of the dishes I wasn't familiar with. Everything was good. Traditional Korean hospitality: refills on what you want. #KBB: BBQ.Meat: 1. 생갈비 (Saeng Gal Bi) Fresh Short Rib - 4/5 Perfectly cooked by the staff. Brilliant texture. Eat it by itself or add some sauce...whatever is your flavor. 10. 양념갈비 (Yang Nyum Gal Bi) Marinated Premium Short Rib - 4.5/5 Plenty of flavor. Perfectly cooked, enjoy with the hot sauce for more flavor. 17. 주꾸미 구이 (Juku-Mi Gui) Fresh baby octopus (Spicy/Mild) - 4/5 I got the "Spicy" version. Not overly spicy, got a nice warm mouthfeel to it. I'll be back... Hopefully sooner...

I came here on a weekday with my friends because they were craving kbbq. My cousin remembered how good this place was so we all decided to try it. The last time I was here when during when I used to go to dae bak solely to drink and get drunk then come eat at gooyi gooyi after. So this time felt like the first time again for me haha. Parking here is tight with not a lot of spaces open, but one of the workers from the restaurant let us park where the cone outside was. We were seated immediately as there wasn't too many customers inside, but heard a group in the back having loads of fun so that was a good sign. They have kbbq sets for you to choose from, I think we ended up ordering set 5. We also got soju and beer to drink. The banchan quickly came out and I enjoyed most of them. I like that they cook the meat for you because I always have a difficult time with knowing when meats are cooked and ready to eat unless it's crispy lol. The set also came with a soybean soup which wasn't bad, but we were all too full by the time it came out. They use some of the meat to cook kimchi fried rice for you after you're done eating and you can also take it home. The kimchi fried rice wasn't bad, but the boys I went with felt like it would've tasted better without the added seaweed or furikake they added. The kimchi was a bit too tangy for me, but I tried to eat whatever I could before I couldn't anymore. I would come back here again. Service was quick and attentive. Definitely carpool if you come here though.

Stopped by Gooyi Gooyi in a pretty unassuming strip mall in Santa Clara. The Korean BBQ menu had solid options like pork belly, short ribs, and kimchi fried rice that were flavorful -- it's a fun spot if you're into grilling at the table (and there's plenty to choose from). The atmosphere inside is casual and lively, though the outer mall area doesn't exactly wow you.

Came here on a Saturday night without a reservation--luckily we arrived just in time, as a few tables were still open. Shortly after we sat down, a line started forming. Parking was a bit tricky since it's in a small plaza. We ordered Combo #4 (feeds 4) for our party of five, plus an order of marinated fresh baby octopus. They served banchan on both ends of the table, so there was a ton of food to share. The sides included kimchi, fish cake, bean sprouts, seaweed salad, garlic, and what I think was fermented seafood (not sure of the name). They also had two salads: one with lettuce, cabbage, and onions, and a scallion salad. The dressing reminded me of Gen BBQ's salad--super tasty. Their dipping sauces included salt & oil, ssamjang, and a house sauce. It was my first time here, and I was pleasantly surprised that they do all the grilling for you! For such a casual spot, that was a great bonus. They spaced out the steamed eggs (we got 2) and soup (just 1), so the meal felt well-paced. At the end, they made kimchi fried rice with the leftover meat and veggies, which was so good and really filling. You can even ask for refills of the sides and salads, which is a huge plus. Service was friendly and consistent--they checked on us every now and then. We did have to ask for water refills, but otherwise, they were attentive. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the portions are generous and the food is delicious. I'd definitely go again--but with a group, since it's best for sharing and makes the most of the combos. Overall, a great spot for casual Korean BBQ where you can just relax and eat without doing the cooking yourself.

While the place is small and dark, they carry huge portions and a large selection of meats. I got two orders of brisket and that was more than enough for 2 people. The table comes with lots of banchan options and I enjoyed their kimchi. It was fresh and crunchy! Each order comes with a bowl of rice and side salad as well. I enjoyed the food and liked that they cooked for us, but I will say it's a bit overpriced for two ppl. It would be more worth it with a bigger group since the portions are big and you can split the tab.

Ohhhh yes! Gooyi, like the ol comfy blanket, you comfort me in my times of craving for some good KBBQ... one of the few places where the staff does the cooking for you so you can focus on just enjoying the delicious meats and the usual accouterments aka banchan... the salad here is a STAR! We usually get 3 refills! The dressing is oooohhhh so addicting! Grab a radish round, top with salad, meat, garlic, jalapeño, dippp in da sawce and enjoy the orgasm in yo mouf! Git in me bellyyyy! This is a no frills old skoool joint, no fancy chandeliers here, just a normal nonchalant spot to get your K groove on! You can order Ala carte or choose from preset combo meals... you can add the kimchi fried rice option and they will conjure up a table side order ! Pricing is higher than some of the other KBBQ joints but the quality and the service makes up for it, they even use real charcoal not gas ! Now that's da real deal... 감사합니다 ! gamsahabnida!

One of my favorite Korean bbq place. I always get the combo number 1 with kimchi fried rice ands leave more than full. The best part is I don't have to cook it, they do it for you! The meat is always fresh and great tasting esp the banchans! I would highly recommend this place.

I love how hearty this meal is and how it never fails to warm me up from the inside out. This is the perfect comfort meal. The meat is also so tender and the noodles really soak up that broth. The broth is the best part, you can season it to your own taste but the base itself is already pretty great! Very savory. And the plus is that they give free yakult at the end when you pay so it's a cute lil free sweet treat to enjoy!

The meat was juicy, fatty, and flavorful with a little hint of smokiness that completed the experience that I desire from beef. The 해물 파전 isn't made conventionally. It has this beautiful crispy top that adds a new dimension to the experience. The 잡채 wasn't as plentiful as I would've liked but it doesn't matter since it functions as an appetizer to the rest of the meal. The 된장찌개 was yummy for someone who hasn't tried it before. I should also mention that the complimentary side dishes includes raw marinated crab which was absolute heaven. Squeeze it like a toothpaste bottle and the juicy crab comes right out. One of my friends is a big eater (just a beefier human in general), so we decided to get an extra order of 눈꽃살. If I were to order again for the same group of friends (4 people total), I would order 해물 파전, 돌솥 비빔밥, 청담 갈비, 양념갈비, and 눈꽃살. I think its close to the amount of food that we ordered, but a little more affordable and some (superior) substitutions. The staff was friendly and efficient which was fantastic. I got to meet the owner/manager, he seems like a kind and friendly gentleman. I want to come back more often for the 해물 파전 and 양념갈비. It was delicious! You squeeze and suck on the shell for the crab meat to come out. Will go back again even if it's just for the spicy marinated crab. For main, we shared the Samgyeopsal (Korean pork belly slices). The pork was tender. We wrapped it on lettuce and put some garlic and ssamjang. Each bite was oh so good. There was plenty and we had some leftovers. You see Koreans eating at the restaurant which is a good sign. Staff was busy and sometimes, it can take time to get their attention. For some reason, our table did not have the buzzer (or we just can't find it). Definitely a place worth going. If their pork is this good, wonder what their beef dishes taste like. Outside of the parking, the space inside is accommodating. There is lots of room for large parties. I will say service was a little scattered brained when we ate here though. They forgot one of our orders and we had to flag them down, a few times to get it to us. To add onto this we were the first two parties here so it maybe was just the staff warming up. We ordered the Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Crab, Beef Short Rib Soup, and the summer special Hwe Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Raw Fish Mixed Noodle). The restaurant is spacious, and seeing that most of the customers were Korean definitely gave us high expectations. Service was friendly and our food came out in about 10-15 minutes. The raw crab came with a bowl of rice, quail egg, fish roe, roasted seaweed, seaweed salad, and pickled daikon. My friend mixed everything together for us like a pro. Soy marinade was well balanced, the crab had a soft, jelly-like texture and tasted really fresh, not gimmicky at all. My friend who didn't enjoy this dish in Korea actually ended up liking this version, and my other friend even said it was better than the one she had in Boston. As for me, I really enjoyed trying it for the first time. That said, it's definitely an acquired taste and probably not for everyone. If you're not ready to eat raw crab, I'd actually recommend trying the soy marinade with soft tofu or boiled eggs first because the sauce itself is delicious. The Beef Short Rib Soup came with tender meat, but the broth was just okay. Not bad, just not something I'd order again. The Hwe Naengmyeon, on the other hand, was really refreshing. It definitely had a spicy kick, the noodles were soft yet chewy, and the raw fish had such a unique texture that I honestly don't know how to describe it. Served cold with fresh veggies and half a boiled egg, it was perfect for a hot day. Also, banchan were delicious and free refill, our favorite was the Konjac noodle mayo salad and Gyeran Mari (Korean Egg Roll). Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try soy marinated raw crab, and I can definitely see myself ordering it again. Such a fun first experience, and I'll be back to explore more of the menu.

The pancake was nice and crispy, with a good amount of seafood, the bibimbap had a great amount of crispy rice at the bottom and the tofu soup was comforting and exactly what we were looking for. The bossam had a lot of meat - I kind of wished there was more radish and napa to go with the meat, but it was tender, not too fatty, and satisfying. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Jang su jang is still a classic staple, and has a delicious offering for almost any korean craving you could want. I highly recommend ordering the combos here over ala carte! All the food came out piping hot and fresh. It was the perfect bar food; just really expensive for the quality of what you're eating. The place had ambient purple lighting inside, kpop & korean street food videos displaying on the TVs, tons of korean idol posters, and music absolutely blasting overhead. I enjoyed the lively vibe, but will say the music got a bit too loud and my friends and I really had to raise our voice to speak to each other. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and would definitely come back!

Not only was this the worst Korean food I've had to date, but the service was a mess. I try my best…read moreto be understanding and I usually never leave negative reviews, but this one I had to share. We ordered a combo (contains three dishes) and not only did they forget two of the three items, but when we asked for the two items they only brought out the second one over an hour later. By the time we were done with our second item, we asked them to just not bring out the third item in our combo because it was clear they hadn't even begun to prepare it because they forgot again. Despite only receiving two of the three items in our combo over the span of our two hours, they still charged us the full $73 for the combo. Additionally, they kept bringing out the wrong items and also brought out things twice when we had already received it. Food overall was undeniably bad for how it was priced. The quality of the pork in the katsu was extremely tough and stringy, not to mention how it was absolutely drowned in sauce. Kimchi fried rice was wet, as it was drowned in sauce and oil, barely fried. Chicken wings were also drenched in oil and sauce, and it was soggy, rubbery, and overall terrible. In conclusion, don't waste your time or money here. This was my second time at this establishment, and both times were atrocious.
