This place has a two page lunch menu Monday thru Friday. We shared two lunch entrees that were very tasty and plentiful. The service was as good. The General Tso Chicken was very good. It came with a choice of soup, I picked wonton which turned out to be the only thing 4 stars, not a lot of flavor. I picked a fried egg roll and steamed rice. My wife had and enjoyed the Qin combo Lo Mein...if you want beef with it it's an upcharge. She enjoyed some fried rice and a crab puff and some wonton soup. They sold about 1.5 ago and the old management is now at ginger cage off west gray. I have been coming back since they sold and everything was pretty much the same however I noticed the hot and our soup is different. Today should be a 1 or 2 star review but I'll give them a 4 star since the food was good. Back to the 1-2 star experience! I was totally shocked how trashed the restrooms were! Not a good sign! Take pride in the place line the old management did. Also they have flies and gnats I. The restaurant! Lastly they used to have these chocolate candies to grab on the way out. No more. For a quick delicious lunch, I definitely enjoyed this place. The food was so good and I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture. Service is quick and efficient here especially for lunch service! I got some hot and sour soup and some seafood stirfry which was delicious! Adding in some chili oil brought the food a nice spicy kick that I enjoyed with white rice. Qin Dynasty is one of our favorite Asian restaurants. My family and I have been customers for over 15 years. Since Cocid we have only ordered our food to-go but the taste and quality remain regardless of dining in or taking out. Our selections we favor are shrimp lo mein, chicken with garlic sauce and chicken with eggplant . We have also tried the general tso's chicken but our main 3 are mentioned above. Many of the entrées can be ordered as a combo where you get a smaller entrée but get to select a soup and choice of either en eggroll or a crab puff. The chicken with eggplant is not offered as a combo. Both the egg drop soup and the wonton soup are excellent choices and the eggroll and crab puff are delicious so you can't go wrong. There is a nice atmosphere inside and weekend nights have had a pianist playing nice music. Stop on by! read more

I ate at Qin Dynasty for the first time on Saturday evening. It wasn't very busy but we went a bit early. The staff was very friendly. We had fried dumplings (pork & chicken) and tempura vegetables for apps. Both were really good. I ate squash, sweet potato, and eggplant tempura. I had one of each fried dumpling. I couldn't taste a difference between the pork & chicken. The wrapper was thick and cooked well. I enjoyed both appetizers. We got three entrees: general tso chicken, happy family and chicken & cashews. The chunks of chicken in the general tso were huge and expertly cooked. I had it for two more meals over the next two days. The happy family was okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce but my sister enjoyed it. The white rice was cooked perfectly. I am very particular about my white rice. This hit the mark. I didn't eat the chicken & cashews but it's my brother in laws favorite. The seat had a big hole in it and the table cloths are thin plastic so it's not high class. But it is really tasty and worth a visit. read more

So I just called in to order take out which consist of a bill $48-60 plus tip $18 to $24 I'm told being in Bellaire I'm outside the 3 mile delivery and they can no do. WTF The same delivery gentleman hustled to my house every time knowing there is a good tip on top of their charge for delivery. Yes I've seen changes since they got new owners but until now I stayed. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday with a large party. I had low expectations coming in knowing this is more of an American-Chinese place and that's perfectly fine.. However, whenever I see a voluminous menu with way too many options from Sushi to Chinese to Thai? it's a turnoff for me. It didn't help the matter the people I was with sat at a round table with a Lazy Susan and choose to opt for individual dishes (quite comical but again, understandable) 4-5 people ordered the orange/sesame chicken, which I tried and it was okay, just typical American Chinese cuisine. The vegetables I had was pretty decent, I had no complaints. We only had 1 waiter for all the tables and I do appreciate his hard work, he was a bit curt (at least that part is very authentic) and didn't bring out a few rice bowls but we had a large party so understandable. Plenty of parking available and very spacious interior once you walk inside, we had the entire back section of restaurant in a private area. Decided to try Qin's Dynasty since I drive by it all the time and we saw that they offer lunch specials every day of the week. We ordered online and stopped by the restaurant to pick it up. I went inside briefly but noticed that the interior was beautifully decorated and had a more upscale vibe. It was around lunchtime and the staff had their hands full with phone orders, so it took a few minutes before we could pay and grab our food. I ordered the Hunan Beef lunch special while my partner got the General Tso's Chicken. The beef in my dish was soft and not overly chewy and was drenched in a black bean sauce that was a bit bland. I enjoyed the pieces of peppers and asparagus but I wish the sauce was more flavorful. I opted for the crab puffs as my appetizer and they were small but tasty. The steamed white rice was pretty standard. For the soup I chose my favorite, hot and sour soup, but unfortunately the flavor was off and not very spicy. My partner enjoyed his General Tso's Chicken; I tried a bit of it and thought the meat was a little dry and tough. Overall, if you are looking for American Chinese food then you might enjoy this place, although I feel that it's a bit pricey for the quality of food. Great lunch spot! Came here with my mom when we were staying at the Residence Inn down the street. We both enjoyed the shrimp and scallops lunch special. With the hot and sour soup and spring roll, it was a ton of food. Scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly. There were multiple types of mushrooms. Mushrooms aren't my favorite so I ended up eating the other veggies. My mom had enough that she ended up eating leftovers for a second lunch the next day. I'd always wanted to try Qin Dynasty when I've stopped in this shopping plaza for other purposes. There's a lot of things you can do in this modest plaza on the West U border: get a coffee, get a bundt cake, and get a haircut. Now, I can say with confidence that you can get great Chinese food here too. A lot of Chinese restaurants out there that once prided themselves on dine-in have really transitioned away from being full-service restaurants. We've struggled for some time finding a Chinese restaurant that has easy parking (not Rice Box), no funky smell (not Auntie Chang's), nearby (not Chinatown), and a place you want to sit in (not Panda). Qin Dynasty checks all of those boxes and more. Kevin provided great service, and kept the refills coming. We got a Kung Pao Chicken entree and a Sesame Chicken entree, along with fried rice. Taste was great all around, and the atmosphere was pleasant. It was pretty late on a Saturday night but there was still a good number of folks dining in. Qin Dynasty used to be a fine restaurant you'd take the family to for a special dinner. Now, it's more like a second cafeteria for the retirement center next door. The cloth tablecloths have been replaced with sticky vinyl. The curtains have been ripped off the windows. The mood lighting has been replaced with bright overheads. Soft music has been replaced with loud John Denver songs. And there's a strange smell in the dining room that is a mix of hospital disinfectant and coconut. The food is still good and still priced like it was the fine dining experience. But the service and ambience is now mediocre at best. read more

Qin Dynasty took a nose dive since my last visit, maybe a year ago. I was a regular at this inner loop, reliably good Chinese spot for years. It's my understanding, the management changed and the food just isn't as good. We ordered chicken with mixed vegetables and kung pao chicken, and both were bland and left more to be desired. In the past, they gave wonton chips to complement the soups and actually had veggies in their kung pao...but all those nice perks are no more. I suggest skip this place, and if you are looking for affordable Chinese, go to one of the Szechuan spots nearby like Trendy Dumpling or Hu's Cooking; P. King is better than this and it's pick-up, casual Chinese food as well. read more

This place kind of always looks closed, I lived less than a mile away and never tried it cause it always seemed pitch black inside and didn't seem open. I think a light up "Open" sign or something similar would increase business a lot. When I came at 5 the building was completely empty, which is a shame because it's a great place. What Stands out most is the customer service. The employees were so pleasant and accommodating, the service was definitely that of a fine dining restaurant. They assured my meal was good and offered hot sauce and additional rice, water to go etc. and an employee who was on the phone dropped everything he was doing to open the door to the restroom for me when he saw me going that way. Really impeccable, small touches like that go a long way. My server was Franklin and he was excellent. I got crispy orange tofu and fried rice, as I always do at Chinese restaurants. It was really good! The portion size was very generous and they understood me when I said *extra* crispy tofu, it was so crunchy and nice but still light and not greasy. The orange and hot sauce were pretty good too and my food was out quickly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone read more

I loved the hot and sour soup and the spicy chicken dumplings were the perfect amount of spice! The crab ragoons were perfectly crispy and the sauce was amazing! I have never found a place that has fried chicken in hunan chicken and it was so good! The vegetables we're fresh and the sauce was perfect! I never thought I would fall in love with a place during the pandemic, but this place is it. There is something about the food here that is over the top wonderful. First the quality of the meat is off the charts. I am talking about some of the best beef dishes you will have ever had. They are thick, perfectly seasoned, marinated, scrumptious pieces/slices/cuts of beef you will have ever had. I took a bit of my husband's chicken plate and it also had the same effect with it being oh so juicy and full of flavor. You're not getting scraps here my friend, they are treating you right! I don't know where these cows or chickens come from, free range, organic, whatever it is, but when you compare it to other Asian food places, you just can't compete with the meat quality. As for the dishes themselves they are aromatic and built with the right amount of herbs, spices, and vegetables to not take away the spotlight from the main course. So if you're having Beef Mongolian, the beef will shine. They won't add extra veggies to cover lackluster taste, which some Asian restaurants do. Every single bite was a fabulous high end, restaurant feel and by the time I was done, I was sad. In fact, I decided to save half for the next day, because I couldn't fathom not having it again.
