Responding to the Covid-19 crisis necessitated a last minute move. Qshark was there to handle my move: moving a 1 bedrm to storage cost $554. For approximately five hours. Hired them to move our 2 bedroom apartment. Our movers Josh and Ed were nice and did everything well. Below is a breakdown of pros/cons: Pros: - Showed up on time - Packed/wrapped everything we needed and didn't cause any major damages (no broken monitors/dishes/etc) - Came with a super large truck that fit all of our items with plenty of room to spare - Overall really helped us with our move, this would've taken us days to finish if we didn't hire movers Cons: - Our biggest con was that Josh and Ed both were injured/recently injured and they were still working. We felt really bad as Josh told us he had an infected toe and Ed recently has been recovering from a broken leg. We noticed Josh limping as the hours went by. We felt like this move job could've gone faster if we had movers that weren't injured. The overall time they took was about 7 hours for the move. Granted, our apartment was located on the far end of the complex furthest from the elevator, but ultimately we felt like they really shouldn't have been moving heavy furniture if both of them were injured. We truly believe we could've saved some time and money if our movers weren't both injured. - They both didn't wear a mask, but Josh did ask us if we were okay with them not wearing one and we didn't want to make a fuss so we just kept our distance from them as they moved. But this is something to note if you aren't comfortable with that scenario. - Minor damage on one of our bed frames, but honestly we don't really care/mind; just something we should mention Overall, despite how long the move took, we are still very grateful for Josh and Ed for helping us out. I understand it's a hard time for everyone, but I don't think two injured/recovering movers should be working at all. I think Qshark needs to vet their movers to make sure they're 100% capable of doing the job before sending them, or else you may end up with a longer/more expensive move than you expected. read more

I contacted through Yelp and received a message back immediately and my Qs were answered immediately. When I called to book all my Qs were answered. However, after I booked I never received any email to verify and confirm. I had to reach out again a couple times to get that. On the move day, I received a call that said they had a flat tire and were going to be late, then at approx the time they would be arriving, received another call from someone else that said now they would be additionally late. So, they were approximately 3 hrs later than original quote. The 3 guys (Martin, James and Javier) that showed up, however were incredibly professional and organized and friendly and very helpful. Very hard working. We took care of them, fed them 2x, water and tipped. It would have been nice if management had called and offered some sort of discount or something for the time inconvenience. Minor scratches and dings on our property but Martin fixed what he could. Haven't opened up all the boxes yet. Hope everything made it! I'd recommend these movers, just need to be flexible. It was my first time seeking services of a moving company. My boyfriend actually found them on a Groupon deal, but I ended up going direct with the company as they offered the same price. Steven and Logan were quick, professional, and skillful. They helped me move from my apartment in Irvine back to my parents' home in La Palma, a 30 minute drive. All my bedroom items were well protected and they completed the move in about 2 hours (including the drive). They did not waste any time, and did an amazing job. UPDATE on 3/14/17: I am raising my rating to two stars after Qshark's acknowledgement of and compensation for its mistakes. I sent the original review to Qshark's email account on the same day. Got a response within 15 minutes. After a few more e-mails and my insistence that the move could have gone better if Qshark would have made better decisions, Victor said that Qshark would send us a partial refund check in the amount of $325. For me, the amount was Qshark's implicit admission that the move should have taken around 4 hours in total, or 3 hours and 15 minutes shorter. Received the check late last week, deposited it over the weekend, and balance available as of today. I still would not recommend Qshark, but at least they did a right thing in the end. ORIGINAL REVIEW on 3/5/17: An extremely disappointing and, by far, the worst moving experience. I have moved three times in the last four years, both short-distance and across the country. Why was this two bed, two bath move by Qshark such a horrific one? In summary: - Excessive duration: 7 hours and 15 minutes for a less-than-15-mile move - Inexperience: Second mover was "new" but had gone through "all the mover training"; however, it was de facto a one-man move - Unethical: The use of an inexperienced mover on a two-mover team, and subsequent handling of associated issues, called into question Qshark's business practice Move date was Monday, 1/16/17. Essentially a straight shot up I-5, the less-than-15-mile move from Irvine to Santa Ana took an inexplicable 7 hours and 15 minutes. We wanted to maximize the value of our move, so we not only used the Groupon (2 hours for $90) but also took apart the king bed, the queen bed, and the dining table - essentially, all the pieces of furniture that would require disassembly. We would also eventually re-assemble the king and queen beds ourselves out of consideration of moving cost. This meant that the tasks at hand for Qshark were basically, wrap, load, transport, unload, and unwrap; Vlad, the manager, had said at the time of quote that an apartment like ours would take three hours on average to complete. Our movers were Dmitry, the lead mover, and a young guy who did not speak English. Dmitry arrived by himself shortly before 9 AM. When I went to meet him in the loading area, his truck was parked but because of a smoke break it took him a while to show up. The second mover was then dropped by off by a third person. A little odd that they were not showing the "let's get this move started" kind of spirit that I normally would see in a mover, I thought to myself, but I chose to let it go since it was early and since Dmitry seemed courteous. The move started off OK, but it quickly became apparent that something was amiss. Dmitry and the second mover would leave the apartment with a relatively small number of items, disappear out of my sight for about a half-an-hour (presumably loading), and return to resume the routine. Worse, the second mover was not able to operate on his own, functioning as if he were there to support Dmitry only (imagine a one-man move). For example, after the second mover had damaged my dining table, he spent the next 10-15 minutes looking at Dmitry inspecting the table rather than continued with moving. The movers finally left the apartment almost four hours later, and that was when I phoned Vlad to express my concerns. Vlad assured me that although the second mover was "new", he had undergone all the proper training and therefore should be able to function effectively and independently. My roommate led the movers into the new apartment, so I did not arrive until close to 3:30 PM. What I observed next was disturbing: While Dmitry continued to do his fair share, each time when they emerged from the elevator and into the apartment the second mover would carry only a handful of items in his hands. No dolly. When I phoned Vlad again asking him to explain my observation, he offered the excuse that the truck came with only one dolly but admitted that the second mover's inexperience has been a factor. I then challenged Vlad that if the second mover had been as experienced as Dmitry, he likely would have been able to be resourceful and tried to get a second dolly, say, from the Leasing Office, which it did have. At around 5:15 PM and 7 hours and 15 minutes later, the move concluded. In total, we paid $675 - $90 for the Groupon, $525 for the additional move time, and $60 in gratuity. That was not our only cost, as the dining table was damaged and as all the shrink wrap and tape was left in the living room for us to discard. Although Vlad did offer a $100 credit, it had not come through. In hindsight, a $100 credit is severely insufficient given the kind of service we received. We paid for two movers, not 1.75, 1.5, or anything less. However, less-than-two-movers was what we got, and we will continue to pursue Qshark until Qshark does the right things. read more

I had two moves to do. I split my my move into two smaller so it wasn't one big, long move. There was an error with my first move that they must've thought it was a duplicate but we got it resolved fairly. I got Joseph and Ed for both moves which was good for me because they're friendly guys, worked hard and stayed pretty careful. I know it's a busy time for them and hot. This is the first time I hire a moving company and I have to admit I was worried about what kind of experience it would be. I had heard nightmare stories about moving companies that find ways to over charge you like showing up with a truck that is too small so they charge you for more trips. Revised Comment: After leaving my initial post, Alina from QShark called me to discuss what went wrong with the move. I explained to her the situation in detail and she quickly worked on a solution. She offered a partial refund for the time that was wrongly quoted. She asked me how many hours I would like back and I responded whatever amount of time she believes to be fair. I got two hours back which puts me back to the range where I was first quoted 3-5 hours which is fair. Even though I received some attitude from customer service for not changing my star rating, I'm sure if given another chance, this company would do well such as the other reviews have provided. Original Post: They showed up half an hour late after the arrival window. None wore a mask. I was quoted 3-4 hours for a one-bedroom and I also hired an extra mover to speed things up. They were done in over 7 hours....costing me $800. I felt bad since moving is rough labor so I tipped each mover $40. The youngest mover was the friendliest to communicate with. The other one was decent to deal with but the guy that dealt with the paperwork was hardly seen. Overall, the move was okay. Just complaining about the lack of ability to give a more accurate time estimate. read more

First time hiring a moving company, I scheduled my move a week prior to the date I needed to be out by. The day of the move went by rather quick the two movers showed up with masks and a rather big truck with enough room to fit my 1 bedroom apartment items including those stored in the garage. I had already disassembled most of our furniture but I hadn't shrink wrapped any of the delicate items. Luckily they came prepared with shrink wrap and blankets to cover those items at no additional cost. They were very time efficient and careful with loading the delicate items. I was charged $346 for 3 hrs. The only issue I had was the time I was scheduled for had been postponed to a later time. However I was promised an hour would be deducted from the move for the inconvenience and QShark was quick to follow up and reassured me that said discount would be given. They are a company that stays true to there word which is very much appreciated. read more

Hey Yeah! Haven't moved much but when I had to move from Long Beach CA to Portland Oregon I did a lot of research about the best way & best cost. The warnings were frightening about the scams and brokers and bad movers and slow delivery dates and damage & price jacking. I finally decided on Qshark Movers. Tracy on the phone was detailed and calming and promised everything I needed. I needed a dedicated 26 foot truck with help loading & with disassembly/assembly. Also needed a fairly quick delivery time. I consulted several times with Tracy on details and she was reassuring every time. I got notifications the day before and the truck with crew arrived right on time. Three guys came in (Alex, Jason & Tennyson), took a few minutes to look around and went right to work. Tennyson was in charge of the Tetris of load building and all of them did a great job of wrapping and blanketing and hustling my copious boxes. It was a hot day yet they maintained a good attitude and focus. When they finished Alex & Jason immediately drove to Portland. We got there about in 2 days about 12 hours ahead of the truck. Jason & Alex were really personable & smart guys who got the truck unloaded and everything placed & assembled in record time. We experienced zero damage or breakage. They did a great job and the whole experience was positive. I paid the lowest price of all the quotes I got and QShark never attempted any kind of add-ons or price jacking. A really good experience.
