People be ware this business is ran by a crock. I came to o do a smong check for my F150 Ford truck. They told me it will not pass because it is leaking air from gas tank and you need to get a new gas tank cap. I told them ok, I'll go buy a new cap and do not perform the smog test until I come back. When I came back, his worker told me he did the test and it failed and I have to pay $65 for the failed test. They are dishonest and just making money without any help to customers. This is a review of their SMOG practices, and for that, they are nothing but scammers, I would not come here. - They will nickel and dime you, charge you $2-3 to put some trash bags on your seats in the name of "the virus". Seriously? - They hit you with a 3% fee for using a credit card - Their prices are absurdly high for a smog test. It literally took them 10 minutes and they charged an obscene amount for "labor". I was in a hurry and needed it done asap so I just went with it, but really, take your time and dont waste your money on these scum. The worst part came at the end. The car passed with flying colors but the "tech" made up some random excuse as to why a part needed to be changed. I dont want to go into specifics, but theres nothing in the book that claims what they claimed. Its just a ruse to squeeze a few more bucks out of you. They know 9/10 times people wont want to fail their perfectly fine car and deal with the hassle due to something banal. Dishonest shade tree "mechanics" at their best. I have been here for a total of six times for my two vehicles ever since I moved to San Bruno; mainly just to do oil change. Everything was fine until one of the vehicles failed a smog test in this place. They wanted $150 to check what's s causing the problem, but the problem is visible to the naked eye as indicated by another mechanic in another shop. On another vehicle I asked for a quote and a test drive for a wheel hub assembly. The owner didn't wanted to take the vehicle for test drive, instead he got me a quote. That's fine, but he wanted me to replace both front wheel hubs for $900. I just needed one side. I told him that I will drive around for more quotes and he went all pissy and said: "Well that's why I didn't wanted to do a test drive or otherwise it will be wasting everybody's time." Seriously? I went to 4 shops at the time of writing this, and they didn't even wanted to give me a quote unless they performed a test drive first to determine the real cause of the problem. They all did this for free and had their shops full of vehicles. This guy had around 5 technicians just walking around, and there was only one vehicle getting inspected when I got there. I used to keep going to this place after being treated like crap several times because I live close to them. I just needed oil changes. I suggest you to go somewhere else, and if you are like me who also happen to live around the area, just walk or take an Uber. Don't trust these guys. Period. read more

Never felt like leaving a review on any place until now. I'm usually a cool and patient person but the owner decided to call me out and say I'm a liar in front of all his customers. Firs off, do you even know that I've been a quality customer that's been going to your business for years?!?? Obviously not!! So the backstory goes back to Feb 22 when I tried to smog my vehicle. It didn't pass. Ok cool I get a free retest within a 30 day window. I come back Mar 23 for a retest and owner tells me it's passed 30 days. I tell him it's not because February is a short month and if he wants he can count the days to be exact. So he tells me ok but he can't do it and I need to come back next Tuesday morning to drop off my vehicle. Mind you, that I have a 9 to 5 and just can't take days off like that but I'm like ok. Oh and btw I had to leave my job early so can make it before 3pm to get a retest that he didn't want to do. So Tuesday comes and unfortunately I can't take that day off. I call him later in the day, and yes I should've called him earlier but I'm at work and didn't have the time. Anyways I called him to ask if it's ok to bring it in on Friday instead since I couldn't take off work that Tuesday and he was like yeah that's fine just come in Friday. So Friday comes which is today btw and I call him at 2:10pm to ask if it's ok to still come by and get a retest. He says yes come before 3 and I'm like cool I'll be there in 30 minutes. I get there, he looks at my paperwork and says it's passed 30 days for a retest. I'm like I know, and told him that I came by for a retest last time and he told me to come back Tuesday morning and I couldn't make that time slot so I called him to reschedule for Friday. Then he starts telling me I'm a LIAR in front of a customer raising his voice. In my head I was like WTF hella unprofessional!! So I told him why would I lie for!?!? He said he never said any of that stuff and that I called at 2:10 saying I'd be there in a few minutes which I corrected him and told him that I said 30 minutes. I grabbed my phone to tell him the time which was 2:39. He must have felt stupid because he started saying that I was wasting his time smh. Saying that shit straight up pissed me off! Seriously wasting your time?? I left my job early again to get a retest, even called to make sure that it was ok still to come by and I'm wasting your time!?!? Then he had the audacity to tell me to come back Tuesday morning, AGAIN!! I'm like is this guy fucking serious lmfao ain't no way he is. I straight up tell him if you don't want to work on my vehicle let me know so I don't have to waste my time. He says bring it on Tuesday lol sure so you can tell me that it's passed 30 days for a retest and that you can't do it again?? Yeah and I'm the one wasting your time right!?!?!? GTFOH with that shit. Owner needs to start a comedy business because he's a joke! In all seriousness tho, it's upsetting and really sad that this business probably didn't know that I've been a loyal smog customer for years. Worst customer service ever! I was referred to this shop from another shop for smog I was told to speak to the owner AJ. Upon arriving I told AJ I was a referral and needed a smog and was told a price of $40 . When I arrived and met with AJ he told me I wasn't told that price by anyone and called me a liar . Not a good way to treat a new customer with 6 cars that need smog . Went to this AutoShop to get my smog done for my 98 Honda Accord yesterday. It did not pass due to the EVAp hose at the canister being broken. So I paid for the smog test and left hoping to get the hose replaced ASAP and retested the next day. Got my hose replaced and went to go get my smog retest done for free today at like 10 am. Pulled up and one of the employees asked what I needed done. So I then let him know about the problem they found and that I was back to get my car retested to see if it would pass again. The employee then decided to tell me today is not a good day and if I could come back tomorrow because they were short staffed and didn't know when they could get to it. Told him that I wouldn't be able to die to me going back into work tomorrow. He then asked me when is your day off. I informed him that I'm not off until Sunday when there closed. So I left and did some errands letting a few hours go by and decided to call into the shop to see if I could get in for a retest for the smog. I let them no I needed to do a retest on my Honda and the gentleman asked me when do you wanna come in. So I informed him if you guys have time I would like to ASAP but that one of the employees told me that I should come back tomorrow due to them being short staffed . So he asked me to hold so he could talk to someone in the shop, gentleman comes back on the phone and informs me that tomorrow would be better. This is some bad customer service for this shop especially if your short staffed you can still get things done. Especially if I'm going in for a FREE RETEST. I decided to take my business else where. HORRIBLE CHEATS DONT GO..NOT TRUSTWORTHY We took my car for a smog and it didn't pass. Ok that's fine. AJ said 150 dollars to fix the problem. So we bring the car in for a diagnostic, he gives us a call and says the spark plugs are bad, the coil boots are no good. And trying to charge us 250 dollars extra to change them. With no guarantee that that is the problem. My grandfather (a retired mechanic) came down and looked at everything and everything was fine and nothing needed to be changed. I don't think AJ realized my grandpa was a mechanic. AJ said "I'm doing it the legal way according to the state of California" my grandpa informed me that the spark plugs were brand new and the boots have nothing to do with the smog. This guy made other comments that I will not mention. In my oponion and my grandpas opinion this place is not trustworthy. If I could give no stars I would. read more

I've been going here since I got my first car and started driving 12 years ago. All of my family goes here too for oil changes and other services. The service has always been great. The people are really nice and helpful. The work they do is fine. And even though their shop is small, they keep it really clean and presentable. I've read some of the reviews here where they had trouble with getting their smog tests and certificates here. I'm sorry to hear that. I never had that problem when getting my smog done here. I can't think of any cons. My experience here has always been positive! read more

In my first visit, upon arriving to have my car smogged, I had the misfortune of my hoses springing a leak. I got them replaced on another visit and then was able to have them do the smog. They replaced both upper and lower hoses and they performed the smog test. It passed and I was delighted! But later I was smelling coolant and finally took it back to them. AJ told me the radiator and the water pump needed replacing at the tune of $800. I was in no position to afford it and had in mind to junk the car. But he told me to keep a couple jugs of water and replenish the fluids that way. It seemed reasonable enough. Then later I had some ignition or fuel problems in which I suspected a fuel pump problem. I didn't have them test it out but asked how I could get rid of the car and get money for it, because the car does not qualify for the buy-back program. AJ took my number and said he would get back with me. He never did but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. So I called a friend who is an auto technology teacher and asked him of the best way to part with the car. He insisted he have a look first. So I took it to him. He was able to assess right away that there was nothing wrong with the radiator or the water pump, and that the leak was due to poorly tightened hoses. Also, the fuel problem is due to a bad valve cover gasket. I do not blame Quality Automotive for miss-diagnosing the fuel problem since I never had them look at it, but they are responsible for the inadequate job of putting in the hoses and then stating it's another (and more) expensive repair job. It seems to me that if they didn't deliberately create a new case scenario or problem, then they tried to create an excuse for an expensive repair that wasn't needed. So I have become leery of their credibility, although I initially thought AJ's customer service as honorable. read more
