Kelli P.

This review is solely regarding Dominique, the female braider inside this barbershop. After purchasing the exact hair she recommended, I came to her for an appointment on June 7th for a half braids half sew in style. After coming home the same evening, I noticed that the leave out hair attached to a number of the braids did not appear fully looped around the braids, so I had to keep tightening the knots on my own. Almost 2 weeks later, I gently sprayed my hair with water out of a spray bottle, and did a gentle co wash. While in the shower, loads of the hair (as photographed) came out due do the leave out pieces not being fully connected to the braids. I immediately reached out to her with what was going on and asked if she would fix this because i was concerned about how much hair was already coming out. I told her the braids would not last the 2-3 months that she told me they would last at this rate. She said that it would be considered a "touch -up " and she would have to charge for the fix. She offered me a "family discount" for this, whatever that amount would have been. Which I declined the charge b/c this seems to be her error, NOT mine. She said that synthetic hair should have been used instead of the human hair because my natural hair was too soft too grip onto the human hair put it. She also said she wouldn't have recommend that I wash my hair that early on . First of all, I purchased the hair SHE recommended AFTER seeing what my natural hair looked like , and 2) I've had braids numerous times and NEVER had braids falling out of my head. My gently washing my hair was NOT the issue. I've had braids a number of times and they have always lasted me over 2 months and grown own naturally until I am ready to take them out. Telling me she didnt recommend me to wash my hair is laughable because what was I supposed to do ? Wait a month to wash it instead of 2 weeks, so it all falls out after a month instead of after two weeks ? Had i jumped in a pool ( which people do all the time with braids,) the hair would have been coming out in the pool. Same thing as gently washing it. This is a style that when done properly allows you to lead an active lifestyle. It should not be coming out on its own. I dont recommend her to anyone due to the lack of care and concern for the product that she ultimately delivered. I've had braids many times and never had them look so raggedy within just a couple weeks. Less than 3 weeks after my appointment, most of the braids had come unraveled, and the only thing left was the sew in in the middle of my head. So I took them all out. A complete waiste of money for the expensive hair purchased and the overpriced service for a braids style that didnt even last a few weeks. The proper thing to do would obviously have been to fix the style free of charge. Instead she'd rather the client be out of money for a service that was not delivered as expected.

Braids done by Dominique, and she is the best.

Dominique gives great customer service. I love her work. I've had different styles and love them all. I have soft curly hair, and never any problems with slipping braids. Very satisfied. Book now, you will not regret it.

Been getting my hair cut by Steven for over 3 years now and I always leave looking fresh. It was my first time coming to Quality Cutz and it was all good vibes. Highly recommend my man Steven and this barbershop.

I found this place years ago when I moved away from home. It was hard to find a place to trust for a new cut but I saw this place and it had great reviews. My guy is Ric. I can't recommended him enough. There hasn't been a barber that provides the service he can. I recommend also getting the beard service too. The hot towel part is the best. The best part of this place is that you can book online with a specific barber. I also tried Martin before and he was great too! It can be a bit pricy for those who want to spend on the cheaper end. Typically with a haircut and beard it comes out to about $55-60 with tip However I know walkins can cost about $40 before tip but then it comes at the cost with not getting the barber you want. The vibe is: pretty chill. So if you like chill masculine vibes with barbers who know what they are doing then try them out. You won't regret it. On a personal note, I'm gay and I was really scared going into this place since it felt very "dude bro" but I'm glad I did, because it was more masculine that I'm used to but I never once felt out of place and if anything it helped me feel more in touch with my masculinity. Even now that I moved about 20 miles away, I still don't go anywhere else!

Not only is she an incredible human, but her haircuts are always absolutely dialed in. She truly cares about her work and takes her time to make sure the final result is perfect every single visit. My brother is also a barber, but he lives too far away for me to see regularly. When we moved to the Long Beach/Lakewood area, I started searching for someone local--and my brother told me the mark of a truly excellent barber is consistency: being able to deliver a great haircut every single time. Before I found Lyda, I tried other barbers where the cut would turn out differently from visit to visit (even with the same person), and I was never fully happy with the results. Lyda is the opposite--she's consistent, detail-oriented, and the results are solid every time. Honestly, the shop should be called Exceptional Cuts because that's exactly what she delivers. Lyda consistently goes the extra mile to make sure her clients are happy, comfortable, and confident when they leave. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and truly cares about her clients. I always leave feeling great, and seeing her genuinely makes my entire day better. I'm grateful for the attention, care, and pride she puts into her work. I've been going to Lyda for over two years now, and I can't imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. My wife also comes to see Lyda and feels the exact same way--she's the best. Thank you, Lyda, for always doing such an exceptional job.

I don't even know where to begin, so I'll start with the scheduling experience. I called ahead to…read morebook a haircut for my 2 yr old son and specifically asked if the barbers were comfortable cutting a toddler's hair, knowing how challenging that can be. The person I spoke with assured me that they could and said he personally handled children's cuts. His name was Christian. I booked the appointment for Saturday, October 11th, at 11a, and mentioned I had a photo reference of the style I wanted. He said that would be perfect to share at the appointment. Fast forward to the appointment: I arrived around 10:45a with my son. We were neither greeted nor acknowledged (red flag #1). I understand it's an all male barbershop, but as a mom walking in with a young child, a simple "Hi" or "Welcome" would have gone a long way. Moments later, a male customer entered and was warmly greeted with, "Hey, welcome to the shop, we'll be right with you" (red flag #2). A few minutes later, a barber approached and confirmed I was there for my son's appointment. He introduced himself as Christian and said he'd be with us shortly. To his credit, the appointment started right on time, and I did notice him cleaning his tools and workspace before calling us over. That's the one star. Once my son was seated, I showed Christian the photo of the haircut I wanted. I also told him my son had hurt his ear earlier that morning and asked that he be gentle around that area. He acknowledged and began working. However, as he started cutting, I noticed he was going much shorter than the reference photo. I showed him the picture again, and he said he'd stay at a "2," yet continued cutting shorter (red flag #3). By the time I stopped him, my son's hair was already down to a "1"completely different from what I had requested. To make matters worse, Christian continued touching my son's sensitive ear despite my earlier warning. My son was becoming restless, and I finally asked him to stop. Christian insisted on "just finishing the top," and although I agreed, I clearly said not to cut it short. He nodded, then proceeded to do exactly that. He ultimately charged $20, explaining it wasn't a "full service." Honestly, I should have refused to pay given the botched result. My son's haircut was nothing like the photo, and the entire experience felt careless and dismissive. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to this barbershop. I strongly advise parents of young children (especially mom's) to avoid bringing their kids here unless they're okay with botched cuts and sexist behaviors.

He kept going over the same areas on my sides and it turned out to be a complete waste of my time.
